One had to give him credit for enduring pain well. But that's how he grew up in his house. There was no need to cry over pain, but merely deal with it and keep moving on. All things like that healed. Though there was quite a bit of squirming and resisting on his part just because of pain but he didn't scream and he didn't cry. When it was over he merely nodded his head at her, trying to take measured breaths. "Means you're not letting me back in, doesn't it?" He doubted his own parents would at this point.
She could feel wheel turning in Malik's head...and apprehension in him that pulled. But Piper suddenly became keenly aware of her apperance and a hand came up to slap over that halved ear and she turned her head away on that side to the other surface elf. Great, lets add to the bond tugging fun in all directions on everyone. But she tried her best to push down the rising need to flee. "No, it didn't happen here." Looking to her father as he rested a hand on her shoulder again...which is a good thing because the moment Malikhai's survivial tug went off in her, Kieran had to snatch her around the waist and hold her in place. "Let me go..."
"No. Let them deal with him, you'd only be in the way. You have to press it down..." Someone had to be level headed here and the count of level heads seemed to be very few in number.

"Zahara, Kaelin...get Malikhai someplace to rest. a stretcher a room, I don't care right now. but get him someplace away from here."
Before picking up the armor and putting it on himself.
"Malikhai is not withdrawing. he's getting a centuries long skill upgrade. and someone bring me the heaviest lance that they can legally allow. turnabout is fair play."
glancing over at the horse, and gripping the reins and pulling it further back.
"I'll ride in his place."
Justwysper gave a small nod.
"you're not the first..and won't be the last. many of the brutish or sadisitc races that know of us have a thing for trying to dock or destroy our ears. I knew a boy once that had both ears removed. completely deaf. It's not something I'd wish on anyone."

"Absolutely not, Malikhai. You cannot go back in with broken ribs. That, I will not back down on." Turning and rolling her eyes at Malik. What was that going to solve? Nothing. Snapping her fingers to some of the other healers, she had them transfer him to a stretcher and then she translocated them into her room at the hotel....which nearly knocked her on her a** after all the other energy she'd expended. A little unsteady for a moment, she sniffed at the nosebleed she was getting and then helped Kaelin carry him to his own room, settling him on the bed and holding her hand over her nose. "Kaelin, stay with him. I have to go back to the healing area." Translocating back out, despite the nosebleed and waiting. If Malik was going to be riding, chances were he'd need healing too. She waved away any help for her own person, however.
Kaelin followed orders particularly well and she got Malikhai settled in the bed then pulled off his boots and studied those bandages crisscrossing his abdomen. "You broke three ribs for your family...you must really love them."

Kerick gave a nicker, digging in his hooves a moment. Wait, you want to ride in Malikhai's place. Isn't that cheating? Or maybe not...you are tournament champion. He snuffed at Malik, watching him a moment with red eyes before flicking his ears and stomping a hoof. Okie dokie then.
He had about three seconds to panic as he realized what his father was doing. Thus the struggling which brought on some pain. "Dad! No!" Of course preventing anything was beyond his power...especially so when there were runes involved. Damn it. So there he was again...a prisoner of his own body in his own room and there was absolutely nothing he could do about anything anymore. Quiet and eyes closed, he only opened them when Kaelins' voice made his ears twitch. "They're all I have. Why wouldn't I risk things for them? Bones heal, I'll be fine eventually. You'll see. Next year though, I'll win this tournament...there won't be anyone who is stupidly stubborn and stuck on the past next time."
Piper shook her head. "Your bias once again proceeds you, and makes you look ignorant. Nothing in the underdark did this to me. I did it to myself." But her attention was ripped away again at Malikhai's quite loud protest. Triple colored eyes scanned that area and...no he wasn't going to was he? No she told him not to. But she pushed down feeling again for the moment...tournament rule protected him. Beyond Joust and it was her realm then and she wasn't going to stand idly by.
Sevilin was never one to be waved away though and he rested his hand on her shoulder, letting a little energy trasnfer take place to soothe her body's revolting against runes.

Malik got up on Kerick's back and rode himself to the position. his eyes were cold, and he was almost entirely devoid of emotion. he hefted the lance a bit, and waited. the officials didn't question it, though they might have guessed it wasn't the original rider. the flag went down, and they rode at eachother. a last second shift in lance, and there was a very loud cracking sound, as Rainmare fell out of the saddle, his helmet falling away and blood coming from his face.
Malik rode over to the fallen paladin, who was already getting himself up, his jaw had been shattered, and probably his cheek as well. but they looked at eachother a moment, Rainmare holding his jaw. a moment and a flash of light later, and Rainmare's face was restored. that was the end of that.
Rainmare knew. knew that the son had not been the one that had just smashed his face. he didn't have the skill and wouldn't have the strength for it. but the message came across. the father was not one to sit idle and let his son take all the beating. too much vested in him by now.
Justwysper heard the sound, and narrowed her eyes. she knew better as well. but the deed was done, and 'malikhai' had gained victory. but as her husband came to her, she touched his cheek lightly. his ability to self heal was a godsend for things like this, but they didn't dilute pain.
"You made me a promise. and now you have the person to talk with. Lady D'vinn has brought him here to discuss her husband with you."

Galesen appeared near Piper and Kieran, his eyes watching and analyzing what was going on. Blinking he smiled at Malik's choice to take up Malikhai place, the other elf deserved what was coming to him from what Galesen heard. A look to the wife of the man and he raised his eyebrow a little as he stuffed his hands into his pockets. "Just keep an open mind when you listen to the man, he knows what he is talking about." Shifting a little on the spot he looked to Malik and gave a nod, after all this time he has given some respect to the drow. Still this whole scenario affected him a little bit, after all he belonged to Malik's house so he be there for the drow if this elf did anything funny. Even if he couldn't do much to help the situation.

She blinked at his determination for a moment and then nodded. "I supose I understand. I don't think I have quite the link to mine that you do to yours though. It's admirable, in a very stupid way." Ringing out that cloth that she'd brought in a basin of water and once again sponging his face. "You should have won. Next year is as good a time as any, however. Patience."
Zahara relaxed slightly as she felt the energy transfer take place and sagged back against him, grateful for his presence. She knew he'd sensed it and knew he didn't like it when she was feeling under par. Her attention drifted to the field for a moment and she blinked at that sound then sighed. Perhaps Malik woudln't need her healing abilities after all. "You realize Malikhai's pain is my fault..."

Oh men. What was there to do with them? Though it seemed that they were going to play relatively nice nice with each other. Rainmare did get a dirty look as he came up though and she slipped out of her father's grasp to jog over to Malik. Partly to escape the chastising gazes over physical imperfection from surface elves and partly to either maul and/or look over Malik. For the moment, she reigned the claws as he came back in and set her hands to her hips a moment. "You know I hate you jousting."
Letting his daughter go this time, he took a moment to himself and turned telepathic thoughts to Lark. "How are you and the rest of the children doing Lharika?" He had to check on them, after all he worried as well too. A blink at Galesen. "You left the children?" But his immediate attention turned to the two surface elves before him and he gave a little nod and slight bow. "Lord and Lady Wyndrider. Kieran Silvercrest...as I hear it you have questions for me. Might we find a better stop and more comfortable means to do so? Such conversations can get long and I'm sure there are those that need tending to." Yay kingly diplomatic training.
He placed his other hadn on her shoulder, rubbing both lightly in soothing fashion to her. Stress was the word of the day and it was being applied with little mercy to all who were alive today. Was it wrong that he took personal joy in bad things happening to the surface elf? Not in this case. "How so Sweetheart?"
"Family makes you do stupid things. I know it's not really my place to protect my father...but I just felt I had to." Thoughts drifting there for the moment but his bonds told him that his father was still okay. He nodded to Kaelin though, "Next year I'll be better suited too. Will have grown some by then and be more well practiced." Managing a smile for her. "Thanks for staying with me."

"I just came to check on things sir, I'll be going back to them." He gave a light nod to Kieran and off he went back to the children, sitting back down where he was before everyone jumped up and ran off to do their own things. Blinking for a second he watched what was going on below and sighed, he wished he could of done something. A look to Lark and he smiled a little. "Hey Lark, it's good to see you again, how are things up there?"

Malik took off the helmet and set it aside, and looked over at his wife.
"Yes I know. It needed to be done."
though a careful look to her, yes she was stressed out to no end. but he walked over and gave her a kiss.
"I had Malikhai taken to our room. stretchered and translocated. if you want you can go see him now, I think Kaelin is helping take care of him at the moment."
caressing her cheek lightly.
"Right now our son is the priority. you can maim me for being overly aggressive and not doing what I was told later, alright?"
"It not your place to dictate anything to me."
turning his attention to Galesen a moment, before turnign his attention back to Kieran.
"Indeed. you and I have much to discuss. my wife, however, needs not to get involved any further than she is in this. I'll follow after you, it's your task to see if you can convince me better than what I know."

Lharika blinked as her father popped into her head and then Galesen popped up as well. Comforting the still crying Dhairiss she gave him an answer. "Dhairiss isn't happy but we're managing. The Inthara children are with me as well. It's crying babies all around and Daddy Kieran, I gotta say, if this is what's it's going to be like when I have kids someday, I don't want them." A shake of her head and she gave a strained smile to Galesen. "Well enough, lots going on what with new royalty and all."
She closed her eyes under his ministrations, sighing softly. "Didn't you hear that fool? His wife's tears were the reason they broke three of Malikhai's ribs. Those tears were brought on by me because I offered her a potion to have a child but only if she could convince her husband not to pursue this quest for redeemed honor nonsense. I don't understand why he can't just let it go." Taking a deep breath. 'And then to paint me as cold and heartless when he knows nothing about me. I'm not cold and heartless and neither are you. So what if we have murders and atrocities committed by our hands. I'm sure he has his own share of blood on his hands as well."
"I understand. If someone I loved were being threatened, I'd feel the need to do anythign I could even if it wasn't very much at all. Or it ended up with me getting hurt. But you could have died out there, Malikhai. I thought I'd seen the end of being terrified for you when it came to the sword fighting."

"You keep thinking that for right now." He would of chuckled out loud at the quite effective method of birth control, but the people in front of him weren't to be displayed such pleasantries. "Piper, Malik...do keep an eye on Lark for me. She tends to wander these days." What was this though, he though he was going to give him free information just on a whim. Gesturing for Rainmare to follow, he made his way from the area while at the same time tossing a journal over his shoulder to the elf following. We'll start there. Ask what questions you wish from those pages." Yes...he had journals on Malik, all from the moment he met him up to his point in time.
Uh oh he was giving that analyzing look of his again. Rather than argue with her over things he merely conceded the point by brushing over it and then went to soothing her with good news and soft touches. "I'm holding you to that and maim you I shall in my own way. For now, I just want to see my son, get away from this judgemental surface elves and hope everything turns out well in the end. Now go get your son and your neice so we can do just that. Don't think I'm going to let you hand around by yourself."
He had calmed down the tiniest bit, but was still clung to her in her lap and demanding that she keep him as snuggled close to her as possible.
"Just goes to show how right I am about not being able to trust surface elves. Say one thing wrong and they turn on you and those around you. The examples are just adding up more and more. And even if she couldn't succeed in changing his mind, she could of tried. Surface elves are like that. And don't listen to them, because what do they know if they can't see past the stereotypes?" Pressing a kiss to her hair, trying to bring down that freak out level. "As I told Faatallon...murder is merely a self made definition."
He grinned lightly, but then gave a cough and a cringe, hand moving to rest over the banadages on his body. Ow pain. "Didn't mean to frighten you. But you won't have to worry anymore, I don't think I'm going to be doing anymore till next year."

The elf blinked a little as the girl beside him tried her best to keep a well rounded face. "Ah I see." A looked down to Dhairiss and he smiled sadly, poor kid was feeling all sorts of things now wasn't he? "Hey buddy there is no need to be upset, everything will be fine you'll see." Sometimes Galesen wished he had a brother or sister who was elven, would of been nice to have a bond with someone. A look to Lark again and his smile reappeared. "So what brings you down to the Underdark?"

Malik gave a nod, and took her to Lark and Dhairiss.
"Alright you two. Lark, Dhairiss...come on now. we need to go check in on Malikhai while things progress as they need to. Galesen you're welcome to come along and try not to hit on my niece."
a slight smirk before handing over the youngest son to his wife, and helping Lark up and out of the stands.
"Inthara children, and guest, your welcome to to come along as well, or wait for your parents. up to you."
Rainmare caught the book. smirked at it, and carried it along. he didn't need to read it.
"My questions are simple and direct. I know what he was, and I know of other things. I want your reasons to justify why I should allow him to continue to live. he was a bloodthirsty beast at kithcor, and did unspeakable acts to those both against him and aligned with him. Now he's here. apparently married, with children."
"His 'wife' is a surface born elf, wearing a necklace that looks, unremarkably, like a slave collar. I've also learned the while the thirst for blood has toned down, he's turned instead to enforcing rule by torture rooms in the lower areas of his home. His oldest son is already tainted by the touch of darkness, evident in his ability to use the Harm Touch technique of a shadowknight."
"While the son is not his father, and has yet some vestiges of honor, I don not for a minute take that for granted as a change of heart in the father. I do not doubt for a moment if that honor were to become a liability to his father's plans and whims it would be forced from him with the same indifference as one might snuff the flame of a candle."
looking through the journal this time.
"and you have it right here, he employs necromatic arts in his daily life and service. evidence in these descriptions. where do you think these necromantic beasts get thier experimental subjects? people that displease him are thrown to them to be subject to all manner of dark torment and twisted study."

She glanced between the various people talking to her, looking rather frantic before tilting Dhairiss' chin up. "Look Dhairiss. Mommy and Daddy. Rejoice." Then frowning, "You know, technically I'm not your niece. Technically I'm your sister but that just sounds weird doesn't it?" Then blinking at Galesen, "Daddy Kieran was asked by Piper and I came with him. Why are you down here?"
"You have to be careful with that kind of thinking lest you turn into him, Raven. We can't have that." Running her fingers through his hair to help bring his anxiety levels down. "I said as much but she refused to listen to me. I'm just horrified that Malikhai has three broken ribs because of something I said. But there was no way for me to know that was what would happen." Moving her hand to his cheek and leaning fully back against him. "I don't want to think about a life I've buried anyway."
"Good." It was all she got out before everyone and their brother started showing up. She glanced around at the various family members and stepped back, refusing to leave the room but allowing the family their time as well.
The Inthara children elected to stay right where they were and wait for their parents. Zykariel made it so they could very easily do just that and Lyssie began playing with Kelligrin who had calmed sufficiently when various bond levels dropped.
