Rainmare came to his end of the line. his face was covered, but you could feel the presence under the armor. you could almost picture the gaze under the helm, watching, calculating. His wife had said to make the healing woman regret her choice to let the boy joust. to regret her tormenting half offer. and that's exactly what he'd do.
Wyldfire snorted and pawed the ground, rearing up a bit.she was ready. and so was Rainmare. the boy wasn't going to know what hit him. his lance was deceptive in it's pattern. the stripes made it seem longer than it was. so often times, when you thought and prepared for the hit...it didn't come until after you relaxed enough for it to be just that much stronger. while Malikhai's lance was topped with a skull or closed fist, Rainmare's were ram heads or a shield.
the flags were dropped, and the joust began. the horses ran full gallop, both riders lowering and bracing thier lances and their bodies for the impact that might come. Rainmare's experience would land him a first hit, a tilt of the lance letting it slam into the center of hsi chest, while Malikhai's lance glanced off his shoulder, though with enough force to tilt him off kliter a bit.
Malik was watching the jousting with some interest, noting how everyone managed and what was going on. the first impact between Malikhai and Rainmare came, and Malik squeezed Piper's hand before looking back at Kieran.
"Indeed. though this time it's less dangerous a bit to be down there. How has everything been going on Andal?"
before glancing back at the jousting arena.
"These issues are a little more violent I'm afriad. I do hope your up to this task. I dare say that elf is probably as bad if not worse than your father when it comes to his ideas about honor and duty and the like."

She was quiet proud of him considering it was his first time, to her knowledge anyway, and he'd managed third place. Glancing at that medal with a nod, she turned back to the jousting taking place below and nodded. "Yeah. Kariel better be careful if she is. I think she could beat Destyny. Not Faete thought. Mama wouldn't let her."
Kelligrin was watching avidly, not saying anything for the first few times but every time things struck, he hid his face in his father's tunic. He kept waiting for the horses to crash. He'd seen two run into each other one time and it had been rather scary. Peeking his head out from under his eyes, he tugged. "Horses go boom, too?"
The music of jingling bracelets accompanied shortly after and she shook her head, her silvery braid swaying with her movements. "So, my nephew is jousting, is he? And not doing that well either..." Trailing off at the sight of that blow then glancing at her father and sister then settling in next to them. "Where's the other bundle of joy?"
Zykariel winced at the sight of that blow and reached out taking his father's hand and squeezing for a moment. It was done in a way that no one else could see and say anything but he needed comfort at the moment and his brother's body was nicely blocking it. Though he squinted for a moment. "Kieran's here?" He'd outgrown calling him grandpa the way Malikhai was allowed to. "And Lark too!"

Pain pain painpainpainpain...if he hadn't of been seated so well in his saddle, he would of gotten clear knocked off. But for the moment he let his lance drop to the ground and he leaned forward against Kerick, the horse turning his head up and making inquisitive noises. He felt like he couldn't breath...oh it felt like that armor did little to prevent any feeling at all...with the other jousters it had helped considerably...but this...this felt like it went right past armor. Sit up...sit up. Yet all he could do was sit there on his horse, leaned forward and crinigng, giving a cough or two trying to catch the breath that had been also knocked from him and it seemed he couldn't catch it.
"Hm, yes it seems so. I was hoping for better circumstances though." Giving a passing pet to Lharika's hair as she moved by and plopped down. Yes she had wanted to come as well. "Jousting...I never liked jousting. Looks like it hurts too bad. Though good for him that he made it into tournament." Crining at the hit the boy took and turning his look away some, that was aweful to watch.
Piper...thought she was going to go to pieces seeing him take that hit. He was a child and it seemed that didn't matter at all, nor had Justwysper talked her husband down to any humane level. And it seem Malikhai wasn't bouncing back like he usually did this time and she noticed a certain heat to the back of her hand where a rune was just starting to give notice. Malik of course would be noticing it too. Already? One hit and already? That was bad. But it seemed Lark was here too, and she was also blissfully unaware of how things were. "Idle chit chat later, I'm sorry. You have to come with me, now. Malik I don't care what his pride says, pull that boy from the arena. And so help you, don't you dare do anything toward Wyndrider." She stood and thusly took to tugging Kieran off.
He was sitting on the other side of his father, hands over his eyes. He didn't like this jousting business. It scared him and he frankly just didn't want to watch anymore. Though familiar voices drew his attention and he gave a little noise to them in greeting that wasn't particularly happy, but wasn't particularly all upset either.
Jousting...not his thing. Though his eyes had left the area when Kieran had popped up...along with his new little heir. Paranoia made him watch every move made rather than the field. A pet to his son though, "Yes they do. In a sense anyway." Shaking his head and looking to his oldest as his hand was grabbed and squeezed, the boy obviously looking for some comfort. He gave the boy's hand a squeeze then moved it to rest it on the boy's back in comforting gesture. "He'll be okay, no one's going to let him be seriously injured." Nodding then, "And yes....they are." He was not as excited.

Even though Galesen had been subjected to a good bit of pain over the years he couldn't help but cringe at the sight of Malikhai being struck by that lance. It looked like it hurt like hell and he bet that for the blue drow in there that it really did. "Why did he have to go through with this?" He muttered then blinked as he noticed that Lark had also came along. "Hey Lark." He said and gave a little nod before turning to Piper and smiling a little, motherly love was such a good thing. "Go, run to him he'll need you." He wasn't trying to be a smart a** he was speaking the truth, right now Malikhai was probably having such a wonderful time in that suit of armor.

Rainmare trotted his horse by Malikhai, patting his armored back a bit.
"Just breath."
He wasn't completely heartless like some might think him. But he did have a point to make, so his horse trotted it's way to Zahara, and he looked down at her.
"Next time, before making an offer and then pulling it away due to things that are not of another's control...think first. your thoughtless words caused my wife tears. those tears, cause that boy pain."
Before tossing his lance to a stable boy that barely could hold it. that lance was a heavy lance, the heaviest legally allowed. and that was why. in the proper hands, a heavy lance could be quite powerful.
"I won't make any further show of it. if he still jousts, than he'll be on closer terms. since I think I've made my point with one strike."
And he moved himself back to one, before Malik or Piper came down to the area.
Malik handed off the youngest to Lark.
"I'll be right back. don't worry about anything, Dhairiss. Malikhai's fine."
Malik got himself up, and took a look around a moment before heading down to the arena floor, and giving a few words to some officials, to which a halt was called...though Malikhai wasn't out yet, Malik had informed them he may be too injured to continue, so they were pausing the event for medical evaluation.
So he walked out on the field, taking Kerick's reins and leading him back toward an apparently irrate looking Zahara.

Kelligrin hid his face as that loud shot rang out and huddled into himself. He didn't like this at all. Though he frowned and tugged again. "Mommy...mad..." Then another blink and he said the words the other children were shortly going to echo. "Uh-oh."
Uh-oh indeed. Rainmaire had just signed, sealed, and delivered his own dishonor right at her feet as far as she was concerned. She stared up at him, confused for a moment and then just angry. Translocating to end up in front of him, she reached out, scribed a rope rune and then strolled back before looping it and jerking him hard so that he'd be pulled off his horse to crash to the ground. "If you think you can do something like that and walk away you are sadly mistaken. How dare you cause harm to a helpless child because of tears?! Where's the honor in that you high and mighty son of a b***h?!" Oh no, she was not playing around.
"If you can slam a lance into a boy for tears then what shall I do to you for the worry you've caused an innocent woman? For the tears you've made fall and for the threat you have hanging over a family's head? You are threatening to tear something sacred to pieces and yet you suffer nothing. I threaten you and your precious wife with nothing! You don't have a child now so you would lose nothing but the possibility and there are other ways! Piper would lose her lover, her protector, and her mate. Those boys that you care nothing for would lose a father. What you yell at me for you threaten to do not once but twice!" Damn that armor or she'd have punched him by now.
"And furthermore, I was planning on giving you the potion because I know what's it like to want something so badly and not be able to have it. But you just took it too far. How are you not a monster after what you just did? How was that honor? If you were going to punish someone, then dammit it should have been me! Not Malikhai. You have no honor, you just threw it a child's feet." Catching sight of his wife and shaking her head then laying a vial down in the dirt next to him and gesturing to his wife. "There's the first draught. Take it with tea or something because it will make you puke and you'll feel like hell and time is probably not going to be on your side. I hope you're damn proud of yourself that you made a child suffer for your own hurt feelings."
"Umm Dad...I think you better do something..." The officials were going to be getting involved very soon and he could tell his mother was just getting started. Oh no, this was bad.
Kaelin didn't care what was happening on the field, she cared about Malikhai and that blow looked almost like it killed him. She raced to the healing area, shoving through the weaker willed healers and moved to his side. "Malikhai? Why did you do this to yourself?!"

He would of swatted that had away but there was little that he could do right now. Concentration was the greatest thing right now. But he his father handle things for the moment before it was off the horse for him and letting himself get looked over for the moment. Zahara on the other hand seemed to getting a point across, not that he could make too much sense of anything right now...he was feeling dizzy. But his look turned to Kaelin, or at least he was pretty sure it was Kaelin. Cough, "Gotta protect my family..."
Well...this was going to go bad very very fast. "Indeed, you watch your brother and sisters." Handing off the baby that he had been holding and he translocated to save time, appearing right beside his wfe and grabbing her around her upper arms, just incase. She was prone to jumping people. "Zahara, calm down."
The mother in her wanted her to go one place and one place only. But Kieran couldn't let her. She had to stay focused. "Pip, listen to me. I barely know why I am here and if you do not tell me then I cannot help you and it seems that time is indeed a factor."
She wanted to go to her son, wanted to stay by Malik and make sure he was safe, wanted to find Justwysper and set things right, or at least be given a chance. Breathe Piper, breathe. "Rainmare Wyndrier is trying to kill Malik for a deed in the past. His wife made a deal with me that if I can find someone who can speak higher of Malik and prove he isnt' a monster that he once was, then maybe this would all go away. I could only think you."
He pulled her into a hug, trying to soothe her. "Shh Pip, you know I'll do my best. Now focus for me. Let your husband handle your son and you and me find this Lady Wyndrider and set things right, okay?"

Rainmare got himself up, and took off his helmet, even though apparently her husband or pet or lover or whatever he was to her had her in hand.
"First. I did nothing that was not perfectly legal under the tournament rules. Second. You did hold something over her head. you demanded that for her to get this treatment from you, that she was to force me to stop my quest for my personal honor. She has no right, and no say so, in that matter. at all. my personal honor is that. mine. and not to the whims or demands of others."
A glance over at Malikhai.
"He will wither in time. his honor will fade under that thing. I was there, and you were not. would you like to see me do what he did? you really want me to be the monster here?"
turning back to her.
"I would spare a family from a tyranical meglomanic. a serial torturer. So that someone of value and worth would take his place in time. you haven't watched a hundred of your friends, people who trusted you, and followed your command, be left as nothing more than a few body parts in pickled jars. you didn't see thier internal organs and blood used to decorate and paint trees as if it was for some twisted frostfell celebration! and not just his enemies! his own men as well. you didn't walk through that, to see him lounging against a tree eating the flesh of a halfling being roasted alive on a spit! you really want me to play the monster!? You really think a few centuries redeems that kind of action?"
Oh he was getting into it now. taking a few steps closer and pointing his finger at her.
"I should have taken his head off his shoulders then. but no, that would have been dishonorable. a family deserves to have a complete body to bury. even though he stripped so many of that basic right. He deserves to still be in the ground, and his spirit in Torment itself! and here he is, lounging in this backwater plane of existance, free from any pain or retribution for actions that a mortal death are a far cry from redeeming!"
Picking his helmet back up.
"I suggest, cleric, you go to your boy. what happens between myself and Malik D'vinn is not your concern. Though without a doubt you wouldn't see this as I do, since your kind are known for the atrocities you commit on each other. I imagine you have your own long list of people poisoned, stabbed, hung or butchered at your own hands. same for your male friend here."
putting his helmet back on, and picking up the vial.
"While I thank you for your help, truly...don't seek to deliver justice into situations you cannot control or don't have a part in. Like I told you. you upset my wife with thoughtless words. words that brought her hopes up and then you shattered them by demanding an impossible task of her for them. in response, I used a heavy lance on the boy. I did nothing outside of the rules. since you only seem to concern yourself for others when thier injured, it seemed a perfectly adequate way to get your attention."
Before getting back on his horse.
"If he can still joust, fine. I won't use a heavy lance again, as I told you. the only difference the remainder of our competition is in skill."
Justwysper said nothing. she'd made her point as far as she was concerned, though she kept her arms crossed and a decidedly on the cool side of neutral look.
"And I told you, son. you don't protect a family by getting yourself needlessly killed. Kaelin, help me strip his armor down so Zahara can get a better look at him."
turning around at the other healers, Malik went into his command mode.
"You, get me water and ice. you others, clean towels and rags. and someone get Zahara Inthara here immediately, or I'm going to start taking names so I know whom to deliver your last will and testaments too. and I mean now. medications for bruising and swelling. and anything for potential internal injuries. I want a verifiable buffet of salves, potions, and pills here in six minutes, tops."

"If you have a problem with me and what I have said or done, you take it up with me." Wrenching away from Sevilin and punching Rainmare in the face, then moving back to him. "Pain for pain. If that is the way you live then now you have it. It may not be outside of the rules but nor is it right." Glancing back at Malikhai and beginning to get upset now, turning her face into Sevilin's chest. He didn't even know of what he spoke. "You can throw your bigoted and racial talk around here all you want. You know nothing of Drow! It's rumored that we eat our own young and yet I have four children that are hale and healthy. You believe based on appearances alone and you assume far too much." Shaking her head and breathing heavily as tears slolwy began snaking down her cheek. "And lives lived, deeds done under the command of another don't always deserve eternal damnation. But you won't listen to me anyway, so why even bother." Turning to her husband and shaking her head. "I...I have to go take c-care of M-M-Malikhia."
Kaelin flew into action, gently removing armor from Malikhai's body and shaking her head at the damage beneath. He'd taken a hard hit, and that armor had alraedy half beat his body up...he was going to be in pain for a while.
Lharika shook her head and held Dhairiss, gently keeping him imprisoned on her lap. She knew his bonds were probably on overdrive right about now, both parents suddenly gone, his brother hurt and he was more or less in a stranger's arms. "Everything's going to be just fine, Dhairiss. Do you trust me?"

He let them do as needed, but he wasn't quiet about things...probably should be, but wasn't..."Don't you get it? He's trying to kill you, I can't let him have that chance." Shaking his head and giving a cough then, brining a hand up to hold against his chest at the action. Hm, hurt worse without the armor. Oh yeah, something felt broken there. But her turned his look to Kaelin once more, recognizing the look of someone frantic there. "Don't worry..." At least the dizzy was going away.
See, now they were agitating the crazy and if he didn't have hold of Zahara, he might of just done something really horrible...like kill off at least half those in the stadium present with a single rune. Arrogant surface elves whom never changed their opinions or thier ways. Well...at least he would always know if his wife was his wife, she always had to have the last word. Or punch. Or whatever she thought was fitting. But for the moment he merely wrapped his arms around her, trying to soothe her as she was now highly upset. Zahara hated being type casted and that's what those damned surface elves were doing. He had half a mind to take care of this whole mess. One Andalian rune would do it. "Shhh, it's alright. Nothing but arrogance that will doom their kind all in good time. Centuries will eventually make them the enemy of more than just who they choose as their enemies." Pushing her back enough to look at her and wipe her cheeks with his thumbs. "Now, pull yourself together and go see Malikhai."
And here came the tears. He was not happy. Not happy at all and everyone was going to damn well know it. He knew Lark...kind of. He hadn't seen her since he was just a newborn, but he remembered her. Thus for right now, she was going to suffice to be the one who was going to get cried on and latched to. Commence.
Piper of course was not ignorant to what was going on or what was being said. Anyone could hear them all arguing. But at things happened around her, she merely walked up to Justwysper, mimicking her stance. This time she didn't care for her own apperances, halved ear or not. She was here for business. "It saddens me...that one who thinks so highly of her people would sink so low. You are not the only one who has been told no on such things, and by rushing forward...you caused unneeded hurt where there not be. And then even after all of that...you would of gotten what you wanted if you had just shown your patience. You had no right to take your personal hurt on my son...what if he had died? You would not be able to owe me then would you Justwysper?"
Shaking her head lightly before frowning. "I have tried to remain civil about all of this, I have tried to work with you. And you went and stabbed me in the back and ask me to trust you all in one fell swoop. I have been patient with you as well...I could simply kill you and your husband and you would not be able to prevent it. One rune from my home plane could bring about your deaths...and then my problems would be solved wouldn't they? But I am not cruel as thus...do not let your cruelty spur my own. I give you one and final warning on that. Now...do I still have reason to be civil with you?" Gesturing to her father, "For here is your chance to see your husband go unhurt and stay out of battle despite the hurt he has caused."

He turned around to his son, and took him by the jaw, and moved his head to look at him.
"I know very well what's going on, moreso than you do. You are not in the same league as him. if he was really trying to get you out of the way, you'd be out of the way. he has at the very least, six to seven hundred years combat experience on you. Your determination is admirable, but you are in no condition to be trying to force a trained soldier to have to put you down."
before looking around a moment, letting his son go.
"and where the hell is Zahara!"
Justwysper looked over at Kieran, and then back at Piper.
"I stabbed no one in the back. granted, your son did take a perfectly legal hit that was harder than it needed to be. but it was the only way I could see to get her attention without using less painful but for more intrusive methods. granted, I could have made her walk out there and strip naked and do whatever to whomever, or made her parade around nude, or made her do other decidedly unlady like things. but that probably would have caused far more problems and situations then needed. So I thought I chose the lesser of two evils."
A slight frown.
"But it does seem I seriously underestimated the amount of his previous injuries. the only way to get the attention and evoke thought on things for a healer is to have someone injured. I had expected the heavier lance to knock the wind out of him, maybe give him some nasty bruising...not leave him barely able to move on the back of his horse. and I apologize for that."
then taking a long look at Kieran. it was fairly obvious this person was related to her, as much as it was that he was certainly not from around here. he screamed surface life, and a good one at that.
"It not me he has to convince. It's my husband. and you couldn't kill me. as much as you 'runes' are motions of your hand, a motion of mine and you would be unable to lift your finger without my say so. that is my field of power. control of the mind and body of others. but we both want the same things. I want my husband alive, as do you. I want to go home, or at least out of the underfoot, and I'm sure you'd be more than pleased to see us leave."
a glance to the field.
"once this is done, either by a victory on either side or a forfeit from your son, which I would not be surprised by given that hit...then we can arrange a place for them to converse and see what becomes of it."

She frowned as Malik grabbed Malikhai's face forcefully and pain flared into his eyes. That was not needed right now but she could understand his need to enforce this point. Grabbing a cool rag, she gently sponged his face and shook her head. "You're an idiot, Malikhai D'vinn. But I like that about you."
Shaking her fist for a moment since his nose had been rather stubborn. She would have liked to have broken it but would settle for the gratification of seeing him flinch in surprise. "All that sounds good but it's still centuries away. And it's unfair to be judged by the tone of my skin and look of my hair." Sniffing, "Besides, I've saved a hell of a lot more lives than I've destroyed so there." Not that Rainmare was listening but he had her thinking on her past deeds and questioning and that wasn't fun in the least. Glancing up at him a moment and then giving him a watery smile before pressing a kiss to his lips and starting off. "Stop yelling, Malik. I'm right here. Now move. If you touch him again, I'll kill you." Gently studying Malikhai a moment. "Can you breathe for me, Khai? Nice and deep." She had a feeling he'd fractured a few of his ribs.
Lharika wasn't used to babies really but she'd studied the various journals that Kieran had compiled and there was soon going to be one toddling around the palace so she'd better learn. Hugging Dhairiss, she gently ran her fingers through his hair and patted his back, letting him cry. It did no good to try and soothe him, she knew why he was upset. "I guess you don't, hmm? Alright, well, we'll just sit here until you feel better."

And there was that face grabbing thing again. He was keen aware that this was definitely the 'pay attention and listen with no arguing the point' motion. And well...no he couldn't argue with that could he. But who could blame him for wanting to protect his father and keeping his family together? Thusly his father was given a nod in the 'I understand' gesture before he let his eyes slip to Kaelin again and her tenative motions. "Oh that's good. Here I was thinking I was being an idiot for no reason at all." Giving another cough and a look to Zahara as she came to most likely poke at him. But she only requested breathing and thus he did for her...though he didn't get a full breathe and merely cringed. That wasn't happening.
"Is that how they cover things on the surface these days? Legalities?" Shaking her head, this was infuritating and frustrating. "And don't be so high as to think that you can get into everyone's mind." High elves, they were insufferable at points. But her father's hand on her shoulder made her hold her tongue. "By the way...that potion may give you nosebleeds. Bad ones." Shaking her head and crossing her arms again with a frustrated noise. "Get your arranging done then...I don't want my son up any longer than he has to be so his wounds can heal."

Malik crossed his arms, and turned his attention to the mounted rider waiting at the end of the jousting line. he didn't say anything, but looked at the armor that had been taken off his son. he knew it would fit him, hell it had been his prior. and he was sorely tempted to put it on and finish this jousting himself.
Juswysper nodded lightly.
"Arrangements can be made in a moments time. but as for right now I can't go there to him. so it will have to wait for this to end one way or another. the only arrangements to be made are a place and time."
glancing at Piper a second longer, a slight tilt of her head.
"When did you lose half an ear? that wasn't here, was it?"

Zahara hissed a breath through her teeth and was sorely tempted to shove Rainmare's face into Malikhai's chest and force him to listen. Broken ribs....oh she was going to hate herself later when she actually thought about it all. "Okay, Malikhai. Lay very, very still. I need to figure out where the break is." Cutting his shirt off was a simple matter and then she was pressing lightly on his ribcage, searching for the fracture. Ribs could pierce the heart, the lungs and cause untold damage. Feeling her way, she found them even though the slightest pressure hurt like hell. "I think you broke two or three and it feels like you might have a hairline fracture on the other side as well." Damn b*****d. Pushing her healing energies inside of him, she methodically mended the bones with a combination of runes and her own power. That was still going to hurt like hell and she bound him up tightly so that he would feel the pressure and not be able to move very far. "I'm sorry Malikhai. I know it hurt but it all had to be done."
