A look to Malik and he gave a light shrug. "I wouldn't say that, all I knew when I came to your humble fortress was how to use a sword and fire magic." Looking to the boy again and he gave a light nod. "He has some pretty good skills, and if given a chance he'll pick up some better ones while staying here." He could see the potential in this elf, he has a good chance at making a name for himself. That chance though has come a knocking and it's name was Malik. His eyes then turned to the oldest child of Sevilin and he gave a small chuckle. "I did say I was planning on traveling, but there have been a few things I needed to do before leaving. Though yes you would have probably seen me in one of the competitions but I've been a little busy so maybe next time."

A tiny voice drew Galesen's attention and then he was staring into the eyes of a young drow, on Sevilin's lap of course. It seemed that the drow had another child, then again it was bound to happen. "I'm Galesen." He said before looking to the father and smiling. "Trust me it'll take a lot to make me dead Sevilin." Who knew if he was joking or not, after all he has been traveling for awhile. Though he raised an eyebrow at the man and rolled his eyes a little. "Well it is an honor to meet him, he's so full of life too. I bet when he's fully grown he's going to be a brave Inthara, as strong as his father too." A little chuckle from him before he looked to the new elf. "Nice to meet you Mykorian, I guess once everything is settled we'll be seeing each other more often then."

Zahara smoothed Dhairiss' hair and resolved to let him have his brother in just a minute. But she watned to hear and the teenager wouldn't be able to move fast enough if Dhairiss got hurt or something. Bathrooms could be playgrounds to toddlers, but deadly ones. "And I repeat because apparently this is a well known fact that I don't know. In my culture death was payment for crimes. Malik died by your husband's hand. Therefore if this is in fact his second life, the first lives have already been avenged because his death took care of them. Why isn't that enough?"

Faate blinked for a moment as Malik took things to another level and then looked back at Mykorian before she became very interested in her hands and lap. Mykorian's parents were dead...this was not good. Could he forge them perhaps? But then Malik destroyed that as well. What was he going to do now? Maybe he could get two elves to act as his parents? But she'd have to work fast...it was possible. Maybe Nadai would do it. She'd seen him at the compeitition. Then again...his father was a surface elf, wasn't he? But Malik didn't know that.

Kelligrin gave a huge grin. "Kelli!" Though a sudden bout of shyness took over him and he turned his face into Sevilin's shoulder, hiding from Galesen. He was perhaps one of the more shy of the Inthara children. "Daddy strong. Kelli little."

Panic. "But that's not a problem, the accidents and such, they already had to sign one of those minor waivers for my involvemnet in the tournament. So technically they wouldn't be able too try anything against you and they're not like that either. I would just be a hassle to do all that." Trying as best as he could to cover himself now and thinking of things to do later...people would do things if you paid them the right amount of money. He didn't exactly have much money...but he did have a valuable or two that he had held on for safe keeping. They were worth a good amount of steel. Looking back to Galesen he gave a noise and nodded lightly...he wasn't quit sure what to say to that...things were happening so fast. Let's eat our oatmeal so we don't have to talk too much.

"Depends on the power of 'a lot' now doesn't it?" He soothed the child that tried to hide in his tunic for the moment, watching as Nym gave a chitter or two to the little one as well, trying to urge him back so he could get some affection. Selfish creature, but that was Nym. "Close enough. His name is Kelligrin." Chuckling at the little one was trying to be observant. More observant and vocal than mobile, it was cute yet odd. "You'll grow."

"Sure have a seat." Piper pinched the bridge of her nose, thinking. It wouldn't take Kieran long to show up, but they still had to wait. "He calls him out and it breaks the terms of our deal. You might want to remind him of that. Malik will not run to such a call. As for the joust...if he has no inentions with Malik then there should be no problem with him jousting. Please, don't make me doubt motives and loyalty." Frowing herself. "And his ideal of greater good is greatly flawed. I can only see lowly of his morals if he seeks to generalize the lot of all because the actions of others and not identify the exceptions." Speaking of loyalty and hte like, Zahara was indeed showing where hers lay.

"It's complicated. it's not about physical death alone. Yes, Malik D'vinn, the Butcher of Bloody Kithcor, was put down in that battle. his body was buried in the forest. but here he is, alive and well. wether or not he faked his death is moot. the fact that he escaped justice in the planes beyond is a point of contention."

tapping her temple with her finger, trying to figure how to put this.

"My husband, if he wins, has the right by tournament rules to call your husband out to defend his title. Neither of us can prevent that unless someone else wins. which would be nice. But as to this entire thing, Malik has not suffered the punishment one would associate with whatever actions he took to get a title like that after the physical body has perished."

"If your son was killed, and you found his killer. you'd destroy him. you'd send his soul I suspect to a place to continue that for the pain you will forever feel at his loss. At Kithcor, my husband thought this the case. he'd sent Malik D'vinn to whatever hell was reserved for him. no he finds that Malik D'vinn has escaped, never went to, or has wormed his way out of that situation."

"we elves live forever. until we choose to pass on to the embrace of the Mother. those that die, leave behind thier families, to care for thier bodies, to entomb them and remember them. it is the solace they are allowed. From what I understand, many of Malik's enemies..there was nothing to send home. there was no body to bathe and dress, nothing to entomb."

"Thier solace was that he would be confined to a place to be punished forever for his actions. that the Mother would see justice done. but now Malik stands here, building an empire and a family. My husband feels that this is an insult to the surviving families, to the Mother Herself. He feels he is honorbound to finish the task he started then."

"It is my hope, that this person you are bringing can attest that Malik D'vinn has redeemed himself. that he has, through trial, pain, whatever taks or trails that have come to pass...turned from the monster he was to at least something resembling a decent elf. We of course, hold no such faith that he has transcended the Tier'dal essence of soul."

Malik gave a small smirk.

"You and I need to have a little talk, I think. but that can wait until after we've eaten. not to mention I have a son that will need care and we have to get things set into motion with."

He's not as clever as he thought. Malik was pretty sure know why he was so resistant about the family thing. checking the ledge would probably just confirm it. there was no Pathtell family staying here. which meant that either he was hiding his family name, or odds were he was his only family. a street rat looking to make some money in the tournament.

A look to Sevilin and he shrugged. "Yes it depends, but I'm crafty and lucky, that counts too. Besides death has no need for me yet anyway. I'll go when it's time to go." Galesen then chuckled a little at Kelligrin, the child was cute even while he was so shy. It would be nice to see how he was going to grow up, he has a lot of influences around him. "Still Kelligrin you're growing so one day you'll be strong too." Back to Sevilin he gave a light nod. "He's a good kid Sevilin, I wonder if he'll take more after you or his mother." Speaking of which where were the older women? "Where is Zahara anyway? I thought she be here forcing you to eat like always."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 16, 2007 7:27 pm

"Okay, then I'm still confused here. Why would Malik be susceptible to Mother's justice if Mother is your goddess? Surface elves and drow or Tier'dal are worlds apart. So if Malik died he'd be sent to Innorukk's plane because that is the god he serves, I believe. Or served, I hardly pay attentoin when Malik speaks." A shake of her head. "In my experience if a surface elf was brutally murdered after being tortured, that would gain my kind status with our patron goddess. Of course I don't serve her anymore but I'm just using that as an example. I wouldn't be held accountable to say Rin Kier's standards because I'm not a moon elf. So if I'm remembering correctly Innoruk ran the Plane of Hate. Is that where your husband is attempting to send him back to? What if he goes elsewhere? What if Malik has in fact redeemed himself quite well by nearly sacrificing himself for those he loves more times than I can count and all your husband does is mar his own honor by killing him? And if my son was killed, I would mourn him yes, but I would not necessarily hunt down and destroy his killer, depending on the circumstances. Were he in a battle, no, I would have no grounds."

Yeah things weren't going too well at all...she was definitely going to have to find someone and pay them to act as his parents because she knew he didn't want anyone to know that he was an orphan. She glanced at her uncle fo ra moment and then over to her father to see if he was following all of this but he seemed oblivous. Maybe he just didn't care?

"My guess? He'll take after Dad. He's too quiet to be mom." Laughing for a moment before reaching over and ruffling Kelligrin's hair. This was all rather amusing now wasn't it? Very much so. "She's tending to Malikhai with Aunt Piper."

Kelligrin turned and blinked big red eyes for a moment then reached over and pet Nym gently. Cocking his head at Galesen, he shook it. "No. Daddy strong. Speeders go squish."

Piper shook her head. "He has the right, and Malik has the right to refuse. Even if he called him out, Malik would be protected under tournament rule, he can not be assulted in manner that is to kill him." One of those times that you had to love tournament rules. "If Rainmare kills the man he believes Malik to be...then doesn't he become that man too? One who rapes families of their loved ones with no care at all? Who won't spare one for the feelings of others? One who creates a new sin while absolving the old one?" It was fairly simple in Piper's eyes really. "Are those Rainmare fought for happy in 'knowing' that the Butcher is dead? If so then let them have thier comforting thoughts rather than drag their pains back to the surface." And then a look to Zahara and a gesture to her. "Even she could attest for Malik and she hates Maliks. Okay hate is a bit strong. They disagree at least once a day." Walking over to the dresser, she pulled out some clothing and headed to the bathroom momentarily. Shutting the door, she spend a good ten minutes in there before the door opened again, and she walked out with Malikhai leaning against her for support, dressed up still beat up looking. "And Zahara is right...sometimes it's the circumstances that are to be the judges of things."

He swallowed. Talk? Talk about what? There was nothing to talk about. But he tried to remain calm looking and merely nodded lightly in affirmation. Still tending to his oatmeal so he didn't have to talk. But he did glance to Faate as she was quiet two and they both knew they were sharing a secret.

"Good philosophy...and good to see that you've dropped that silly human prospective on death." Shaking his head lightly and turning a look to those at the table with him. This little half and half elf seemed to be worming into their little social network through a series of oddly stacking events. He didn't trust him...and it wasn't just because he was a surface elf half breed. "Zykariel is probably right, he's pretty quiet though he does have quite the arm on him." Giving another shake of his head. "Always remembered for killing the spiders..."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 16, 2007 8:13 pm

His ears twitched at the sound of Zykariel's voice and gave a light nod to the elf. "I see what you mean, he's a little man of few words." A light chuckle and he raised his eyebrows as to where Zahara was. "Really? Well how is Malikhai anyway? He put up quite the fight yesterday." Though he turned back to the little one on Sevilin's lap and smiled. "Alright daddy is strong, he takes care of all those spiders, no worries."

"Thanks Sevilin." He didn't know that he was still being monitored for acting like a human. Though he took was staring at the new elf on the table, he was too nervous from Galesen view that meant something. The others were able to read him like a book when he first arrived so this child should be no different, if he stopped looking so worried then maybe he could sail on by. Though a c**k of his eyebrow at Sevilin again and he laughed. "He's got a good arm? Thanks for warning me."

"It's a personal honor. the same as if you were to betray a man, wether he know or not. you know. Rainmare may not tell the families that he's alive, but he knows, and that is enough for him. Innoruuk is the Prince of Hate, yes. and he resides and rules in the Plane of Hate. but the Tier'dal are not descended from him directly. all elves are children originally of the Mother of All, Tunare. the Prince of Hate stole from us our first monarchs, and through his dark design, tortured, twisted, and molded them into the Tier'dal. There are many who feel if the Mother truly wanted, she could exert her divine influence over the Tier'dal who pass form thier mortal coil."

frowning a bit.

"But I don't know the circumstances of Kitchor Forest. I was in Highpass during that siege and battle. My husband and I have waged battles in the outer Planes. I've walked the streets of Hate, and been through Fear..even ventured into Nightmares and Torment. But the only event my husband seems to have trouble with is Kithcor. it still wakes him from his memories in cold sweat, and usually he has to use the restroom to clear his stomach. that to me says that what happened there was not something that commonly or normally happens in battle. something horrible."

though a pause.

"Redemption is a saving grace for all of Tunare's children. we've seen the nobility, the honor in his oldest son. I hold no doubt that his wife and he share a close and loving bond. My husband, sees this as the surface of a lake...a lake with a demon resting in it's bed. He is an older elf. a Paladin set in the ways of his faith and his doctrine. the bitterness and warring between our peoples goes back nearly as far as the races exist. But Redemption, regrowth, is always there. A Paladin strives to defend the weak, to speak the truth always, and to help those in need. and to thwart and destroy the darkness. both in themselves, and in the world."

"So he has offered me a chance to prove my belief. He asked me to find one person, not a Tier'dal or I guess what you call a Drow, and one not related to him to testify and to convince him that this Malik is not the same as the one he struck down. I don't want to see my husband relive a battle again, that he may not survive a second time. anymore than I'm sure lady d'vinn does not want to risk a repeat of history."

Malik gave a small smirk.

"I've been trying to work on that for years with him. He's lucky I even refer to him by an elvish name rather than a human one with all his human thoughts and edicts about life and how to live it."
PostPosted: Wed Oct 17, 2007 9:48 am

"It's all in a strange love/hate relationship. I really do like him just like he likes me but to let each other know it would be silly. Besides, I like fighting with him and I feel good when I can outsmart him." Stolen...and turned blue. Well that was an interesting dynamic wasn't it? She didn't believe a word of it but if this female wanted to to make herself feel better then so be it. "So now he has something against Drow as well? Seems to me your husband is operating in an archaic system and holding past sins against everyone. Just because one is a Tier'dal or Drow doesn't mean they are evil incarante and it's because of surface elves like you that the Drow became so bloodthirsty. We took great pleasure in separating your bitter, hard, static minds from your bodies." Giving yet another sweet little smile. "Evil exists in everyone but for something to be evil incarante it would destroy itself. Evil cannot exist without good, maybe your husband should remember that." Pausing a moment and thinking again, "And it seems to me that the lesser of the two evils would be your husband putting aside his personal honor for the honoring of those who died at Kithcor. He fought bravely, did what he was to do and that should end it. He's looking for an excuse to destroy a personal enemy because his own glory is in jeopardy. That smacks of dishonor to me." A shake of her head and she gestured to Malikhai. "And this isn't going to end with Malik and your husband. If Malik dies, Malikhai will be forced to avenge him to salve his own family honor. Because of didfferences between Tier'dal and surface elves a battle will spring up. Does your husband want to risk thousands more lives to simply pacify a matter that was laid to rest a long time ago?"

"Well, there we go then. Mykorian, if you're going to be competing we need to get you out there and ready. We'll just go put his name on the list and tell them when they ask that you're sponsoring him, 'kay Uncle Malik?" thus giving a nod to all those seated, she tugged on Mykorian's arm and pulled him outside. "Do you know any surface elves that would be willing to play a part for you if I give them enough steel?"

"He's alive but stubborn as ever. And Dhairiss would happily tell you that he's quite purple. Looks like a grape but his juice would be so sour no one would drink it." Giving a rather amused chuckle to that and then blinking as his sister went off. "Want me to covertly follow and eavesdrop for you, Dad?"

Kelligrin didn't understand why Galesen was repeating the same thing back to him. He'd said Daddy was strong so why was Galesen? But he merely frowned in confusion then turned on his father's lap, tucking Nym under an arm and pressed his lips to his cheek. "Kisses. Kelli and Nym go bye bye."

"Let me tell you something, though I will spare you vast detail for the moment." Pointed look to Malikhai at that one as she helped him sit down and grabbed a brush, taking to pulling it through his hair. She wouldn't speak of ill things of his father in front of him. "Malik let me see Kithcor, all of it and all the details. All the words spoken and all that transpired. I know what sights Rainmare has seen. Frankly I was surprised by the viciousness that came from him more so than Malik near battle's end." Shaking her head lightly as she pulled her son's hair back into a low ponytail so it would stay out of his face for the day. Well well Zahara was putting up quite the argument as well, wasn't she? Good points there...after all, where would good be if it had no good to proclaim it as such?

He knew he shouldn't say anything, but he had to. "That's why I wouldn't yield long before when I should have." And why he was jousting today, but he wasn't going to say that much or he'd be yanked faster than anything. Merely watching his hands that were resting on his knees, not looking to any of the women in the room. "He's not going to leave dad alone...and it seems from what I hear that he won't listen to reason or compassion. Someone has to keep him from opportunity."

She blinked at her son...and felt herself sorely tempted to slap him but held her hand at bay. This is one of those things he tried to avoid. Malikhai and his father were quite close, but there were still things that father refused to son and this was one of them. An obstacle that Malikhai wanted to overcome to gain closer stance. Piper pinched the bridge of her nose again and shook her head before resting her hands on her son's shoulders lightly. "You, my son, do not need to worry about such things. I won't let things come to such lengths and I don't want you doing such foolish things eithere.

"Yes a good arm, and good aim...I wouldn't be standing in the way if he starts throwing things." Glancing to Malik. "He finally learned though." Smirking and then shaking his head, watching Faate pull Mykorian off and he turned his attention to those back at the table. A smirk at his oldest. "Would that you be asking because you think it will be helpful, or asking because you secretly want to play big brother and threaten people? If it keeps you out of trouble...have your fun. But you're on your own if you get caught by her." But a blink down to his son as he gave kisses and byes and apparently was taking Nym with him. For the sheer amusement of it he set the child on the floor, making sure he was standing before letting him go. "Kel and Nym are going? Where are you two going?"

"Well I don't know anyone, but I'm sure we could get anyone really. That is if he's insistant on seeing my parents. I can forge their signatures easily enough, but I'm going to need stand ins. There's enough people here to get something done for us and I have some things that are worth enough steel if they're sold off..."
PostPosted: Wed Oct 17, 2007 2:15 pm

A dark look of anger clouded her face for a moment, but was gone soon enough.

"My husband is compassionate, and reasonable. He has given a chance to see this man at the least redeemed from what transpired there. But no Koada'dal will ever see a Tier'dal as anything but an enemy. Centuries have seen to it that image is firmly in place. they are a people of death, deceit, and war. if not against all other races, they turn in on themselves."

frowning again.

"My husband's family line is filled with Paladin and Clerics. Even a few wizards. I have watched him stand hsi ground when all others have fled or fallen, to allow others to flee when his life would be forfeit to do so..I personally usually have to charm him and drag him from those situations. I've seen him lay his hands on the bloodthirsty Iksar, and even calm an ogre at personal risk to spare that ogre's own life from those it would have assaulted. Don't think my husband knows nothing of compassion or reason, and he holds his honor high. I don't expect you to understand it, not because you are without honor, but because you were not raised in Felwithe or norrath to understand the ways of Koada'dal honor."

but she did take a longer look at Malikhai.

"you have done more than you think. I ask you not to further injure yourself in this. do not try to joust beyond your bodies ability. you have shown honor that is not corrupted by darkness, and you were willing to defend your father against all odds and injury. That has prompted this agreement and opportunity."

Before back to the other women..worrying her lip abit.

"I noticed as well that you have two children, remarkably close in age. how did you manage that?"

Malik glanced at Zykariel.

"I would. he's hiding something, and I've got a pretty good guess what it is. But I want to know what his intentions are with this and, how he managed to get in here with no one seeing him and meet up with Faate without anyone seeing him come near the door."

Glancing at Sevilin a moment. after all, he knew he kept his children's rooms runed. Sevilin would have to have known, but showed no sign of it.

"I'll get the ledger and verify that there are no Pathtells staying here though just to be sure."

getting himself up and going to do just that.

So her husband was big and bad and blah, blah, blah. That's basically what Zahara heard. Yes he was honorable, though in her opinion he wasn't but obviously that was getting nothing from her so she was just going to stop saying it. She'd probably argue herself into a grave that Sevilin was amazing too. "An honorable act to one can become dishonorable if it takes the lives of innocents in the process. Your husband is looking to start a war. There's no other way around it. Is it worth it to him?" But she walked over to Malikhai and set Dhairiss down next to him then started looking Malikhai over. "Well, you look a little better. Any easier to move?"

"A little bit of both would be the safest answer right now, I think." Thus handing his plate over to the waiter, he stood and nodded to those seated at the table then headed out.

Kelligrin stood there shakily for a moment, clutching Nym, before he dropped to his hands and knees, Nym still tucked under his arm and started to crawl. "Go with brother. Find sissy."

"Yes, I think so too. And don't worry about selling anything of yours off because I have steel I can use for it. And before you disagree, remember, I got you into this mess by telling you to come down for breakfast with us. Besides, I get steel from my parents anytime I want really. You only have what you have."
PostPosted: Wed Oct 17, 2007 3:14 pm

"I'm sorry but I have to agree with Zahara this time. You can call him compassionate, just as I can call my husband compassionate and just as Zahara can call hers thus so. Compassion to one is not compassion to another. Neither is revenge, or redemption, forgiveness or penance. This is the problem we have here. Your husband lives by his definitions and does not want to see those of others. Though I see you are a bit more open minded." The woman had some credit to her after all. But she picked Dhairiss up as he was set down, just to keep him from latching to his brother...she'd let him latch later but right now Zahara needed to have her time on him. After all...that boy did have to get into armor and it would be nice to know how careful to be with him. Weight bearing and all to consider. Pressing a kiss to Dhairiss' cheek as she settled him on her hip and he latched a hand to her collar with a happy noise, she blinked at the sudden question. Piper supposed that two children ten years apart was indeed a close range for a surface elf to have children in. Especially with dirt level breeding ability. "A bit of help from friends, determination, and lots of reassurance. Malik and I both wanted a family together. Malikhai was trial and error of various potions. Dhairiss the proven potion and ten years of trying. I know, surface elves usually don't have more than one and more than that start to tax the body. Malik and Zahara had me under tight reign. But Malik kept his promise to me, we'd have as many as my body was able. I was hoping for three...but two is just as well." How did they get on a more pleasant subject? Though if it helped the circumstances....

He lifted his eyes to the woman, not sure if he enjoyed hearing her words. He had merely stilled the problem, not solved it. Everyone kept telling him that his honor was intact, so why didn't he believe so himself? He supposed helping a little was something at least. But his attention came to focus on his brother that got a pat on the head before he was picked up and then to Zahara. "A bit easier to move, though I still feel like I got ran over by a herd of nightmares. At least I don't have any open wounds...just all brusing and a funny color. Kaelin will probably be appauled. I look worse today than I did yesterday."

"Of course he's hiding something, he's half surface elf." Oh look the crazy was talking there. At least he wasn't obnoxious with the crazy. But a blink as he seemed to realize that as well...how did the child get upstairs. Cue the unplesant paranoia look. And cue more crazy. Now it was a good thing his oldest son was following now. "Just to let you know, he said his parents weren't here." But the crazy was temporarily soothed by his youngest. Or rather the sound of him plopping to hands and knees. Getting up he took the two steps it required to reach the child and plucked him up off of floor, then set him down once more again in standing position, holding him by one raised arm. "You can't keep up crawling like that. Besides, you'll get all dirty. You get all dirty and you'll have to get a bath."

He opened his mouth to protest, but it seemed that he wasn't going to get the choice. As much as he didn't like Faate paying for him, it worked in his favor. And he really didn't want to sell the crest ring he had packed away in his bag. "Alright, we'll do it your way." Taking her hand, he pulled her off down the street. "Come on, people are gathering for the events today, I'm sure we can find a pair that will work."

Malik came back with the ledger, flipping through it.

"As I thought. no pathtell, and no Mykorian either. So like you said, no parents, and he didn't sign himself in. Five to one says he's a street urchin."

handing the ledger to a waiter as he passed by.

"so I think I'll try and squeeze him about after this. see what's going on. I don't think either of us want a street rat hanging around if all he's going to do is leech."

She was listening rather carefully to the child part of the conversation.

"Norrathian elves don't have low birthrates, normally. we're about on par with humans, I wager. but that doesn't mean instances of low fertility or none at all don't exist. If this friend of your was able to find a way to up your fertility, would this friend be able to test for this kind of thing as well?"

though a glance at Malikhai.

"Is the hier to the throne already looking for a queen to be?"

hey they were slipping into girl-talk realms...much nicer than male-talk realms.

He was a bit annoyed. he'd found his 'wife' and found it not the person he thought. or a person at all. which meant she was off doing her own thing, and he didn't like that she hadn't told him she was. normally she said when she was going to do her private studies or the like so he'd at least know where she was.

and right now a practice dummy was feeling the annoyance in the manner that it was taking the brunt of his lance to the point the wood was starting to splinter a bit. where would she be...it's not like there was a mage's guild or a temple of Tunare around, was there?
