His hands gripped the edge of the table and he worried his bottom lip for a moment under the scrutiny, and apparently this time Faate wasn't going to keep questions at bay or attempt to. "Pathtell." No he wasn't lying about it either. He remembered his mother making jokes about the name she had taken from his father and given to Mykorian himself as well. I was supposed to be more meaningful or something in surface jargon.

He blinked down at his son...that little elf just couldn't keep still now could he? Always had to be doing something. Lucky for the child, Sevilin had learned long ago to keep the really dangerous things out of his pockets when the children were around. But he did smile as the little one too to trying to rouse Nym, who yes he felt moving around in there...probably itching himself against chainmail. "Mykorian is half surface elf, half Labyrinthian Drow. He was the one that fought Faate on the field."

Nym was indeed awake...now. And he was indeed itching himself before he clawed his way up and poked his head out of the neck of Sevilin's tunic, blinking bright red eyes to the little drow in front of him and giving him a chitter as well as a few more noises. Pulling himself all the way out and pawing himself to Sevilin's lap and thus the child, he gave Kel a nod and then plopped on his back. Time for belly rubs, give it up.

Piper moved over and plopped down, letting Zahara try to offer up some more s comfort, though she didn't know if it would help. Malik couldn't even stave it off for more than a few hours. "He's after him because back in Norrath, he killed Malik. Well, he's rather angry that Malik didn't stay dead and wants to therefore kill him again. He doesn't believe that Malik is not who he was anymore. It's just causing me and Malik to fight and worry over things. I can only do so much to try and protect him, but what happens when I run out of options or this Paladin won't believe father?" Another shake of her head and a look to the door across the room, "How long does he have?"
PostPosted: Mon Oct 15, 2007 10:14 am

Malik gave a nod, and took to a bit of drink. the Pathtell family. though he'd guess that the original Pathtell was the surface breed. that was a ranger or druidic sounding family name.

"your display in the magical competition was impressive for your age. as was Faate's. with proper training you could become quite capable. I imagine your parents, whom I'm sure have heard of if not seen your display, will be looking to take you to the speciality schools around here. though I am familiar with your father. he purchased one of our earthwood bows some time ago, I recall."

it was a lie, but malik's face didn't betray a thing. keeping with casual conversation. if the boy backed the claim, he knew he was lying about something. it had not been lost on malik that he'd come down with faate and her sister, and that no surface/drow parents had come looking for him, or even given him a sign of acknowledgment while they were here.

that combined with the fact he'd obviously disguised himself to fight, something no drow parent would allow, gave him a pretty good idea what he'd be lying about.

Faate wanted to comfort him but she didn't think her father would take too well to that so she merely sat there chewing on her lip and waiting for answers. Perhaps she could distract her uncle and father away from Mykorian. "Well, that's nice. That means everyone knows each other. How's Malikhai doing this morning, Uncle Malik? Quite well, I hope. I was looking out my window and I saw lots of jousters already up and planning for the competitions later."

Kelligrin gave a happy giggle as his target appeared blinking and then settled himself into the child's lap. Squeezing Nym as a token of affection, he started gently petting the ferret just like he'd been taught. Because when Nym bit, it hurt and then his finger got all gooey and he didn't like that. He'd never been one to like getting food and stuff all over him though he did it more often than not.

So...Malik had died? Had she known that before? She remembered Piper telling her something of his past, about how he'd been the biggest a*****e on this side of the surface, well any plane really. Norrath likely had been no different but he was drow so it was kind of assumed. "He may not. Sevilin's not too fond of the 'things change' mentality even now. It does seem kind of silly that he's upset that Malik didn't stay dead. Technically the crimes he committed have been paid for by his first death. But...I suppose what it comes down to is, will this man's honor truly drive him to destroy Malik permanantly thereby widowing you and taking two little boys' father away. Do you think they're evenly matched?" Glancing at the bathroom and shrugging. "I'll call him in about five more minutes or so."
PostPosted: Mon Oct 15, 2007 10:46 am

"Thank you, I train really heard." Blinking lightly then shaking his head. "I don't know about specialty schools...we move between surface and underdark a lot and those are usually stay in place schools." Good cover wasn't it? Yup. Then, crap. What did he say to that? His parents had been dead for a while now, so recent business was impossible. Was it trap that was being set for him? How would he disarm it? "Really? I wouldn't know, I'm supposed to keep my nose out of grown up affairs." Okay that sounded good enough. But thank teh Gods, Faate was trying to help again.

There you go, pets are good. Good pets. If anything he could get pets out of the kids and after a few bites they learned to be gentle. Though he did nibble lightly at the child's fingers, licking the taste and any reminants of breakfast from little hands and fingers. Mmm, oatmeal and juice.

Piper sighed in her frustration. "It's petty is what it is. Petty and selfish...he doesn't care if he destroys a family by killing someone who already died by his hands and learned lessons from that time. All he cares about is his honor. No one else knows that Malik is alive...killing him now wouldn't do any good to those this paladin thinks he needs to avenge." Shaking her head lightly. "Malik can face him...but he doesn't think that he would win easily. He's been bested before by him...and with the way he's going after Malik, I think he could best him again." Going quiet for the time being. "He masks his cause for killing with liberation of myself and sons from a monster that holds us down and tries to turn us into mirror images of himself to continue the plague that he's wrought." Poetic when she was stressed, apparently. "What would you do?"

"He's doing fine for now. bruised and battered, but I think your mother and Piper are taking care of him right now."

though the boy managed to avoid his question with practiced ease. but if he was staying here, which is the only way he'd get to Faate as she got up, then he should be in the ledger, shouldn't he. or at least his family name. he'd just check that later.

"did you happen to get a time frame for when the jousting is, Faate? think it'll be soon or are most prepping for thier final inspections already? and is anyone competing in the projectile competitions? I hear knife throwing, archery, and javelins are going to be the big things."
PostPosted: Mon Oct 15, 2007 3:48 pm

"I think projectiles are beginning now. Jousting is one of the last events to determine standing among winners, right? That means they have to go last then, yes?" Mykorian avoided that quite nicely and she visibly relaxed, praying no more questions would be thrown at him. He didn't need that.

Kelligrin giggled and then picked up his spoon so Nym could lick that as well since there were still some oatmeal bits on there. He'd tried to lick them off but it hadn't worked out too well since they were hard and dried. Maybe Nym would have better luck?

"So he believes it is the lesser evil to destroy Malik despite the fact it will leave his family devastated? That's tricky logic to play with." Shaking her head and listening to the rest of it. "Honestly? Well, Malikhai should throw a large wrench in his plans because Malikhai is not a monster and neither is Dhairiss and neither child shows the signs of most drow. My kids don't either because Sevilin and I aren't raising them that way." This was difficult for Zahara because she'd already gone through that situation with Khaiver. "What I did do did no one any good. I gave in. I made a deal with my husband's enemy that has haunted me since that time. I went out and faced Khaiver and got into far more trouble because of it. If I could do it differently, I don't know what I'd change though. To let Khaiver kill Sevilin was not an option and I knew without a shadow of a doubt that Khaiver could best Sevilin and he had the benefit of runes." Another sigh, she was being a lot of help. "What do you want to do?"

And he dodged a fatal blow there. He was beaming on the inside now but on the outside, he remained as quiet as ever. Nice to see that the adults took the bait though and refocused on the tournament instead of him. They probably wouldn't remember him when they elft anyway. Just had to be inconspicuous. "Throwing knives, you know I always wanted to try my hand at it, but I just never got around to it." More like to affording the proper equipment to train.

Spoon! Round, shiny and usually bearing food! Indeed one of his favorite things and he flipped in the child's lap, sitting up on his hind legs and taking the spoon, nimbly holding it as he more or less mowed the food remains from teh spoon with quite the abundance of happy noises.

"I tried that reasoning already...it doesn't matter. The potential is there so long as Malik lives. The only way to spare the child is to kill the father." It really was a cruddy almost no win situation. "I'm afarid I've already gone down your path...I've made my own deal with our dear Paladin...and if it doesn't work I don't know where to go next besides letting them have at each other, but be by his side when it happens. Which will do no one any good. Rainmare will fight Malik and if I join Malik, Rainmare's wife will join as well. The children are the one's who would suffer. I don't think they even have any to orpahan." It wasn't fair...she thought that all of their pasts were behind them...apparently not. "Honestly...I want to run. Just like I used to do when I was younger. Just keep running, so far and so fast that not even the wind can keep track of me." Quiet a few seconds, "But I can't can I? So I will cross bridges when I come to them. Come on, we need to get Malikhai ready."
PostPosted: Mon Oct 15, 2007 4:47 pm

"If you'd like to try your hand, I can loan you some. If your old enough to compete, your old enough to be of other use. if you show some proficency, perhaps I can arrange with your parents to have you live in my realm, probably under the care of Galesen. then you can study things that need studied. those trained in the D'vinnian Empire usually find higher office in the human realm. that should please your parents and make things much easier financially for your constant moves."

There was a knock on the door, before the blue and green robed surface elf came in the room.

"My husband is currently tracking down an illusionary construct I have shopping for me, So I don't have a lot of time. Have you heard any word from this person you were sending for?"

before she noticed Zahara in the room...and the smell of hot water from the bathroom.

"Oh dear...I'm sorry to interrupt. Should I come back another time?"

Faate paused in the middle of her oatmeal and frowned, "I thought Kariel said Galesen was going back to the surface soon..." Not that she actually knew but she'd had that mentioned to her so she was going with that. "I think you'd be good at it, Mykorian. You've got good aim and power with magic and that doesn't all come from proficiency with spells and whatnot. Kind of like Kel. He's good at throwing things so that's probably what he'll focus on as well."

Kelligrin was quite happy to see Nym lick the spoon so happily though he bounced lightly in his father's lap and then turned to look up at him. "Mommy coming? I done."

"That is rather petty and selfish." Piper had probably not made quite the deal that Zahara had but it all put lovers in danger and potentially orphaned children. She hadn't been married to Sevilin when she'd cut a piece of his cheek out but he had a son and if Khaiver had killed him, Zykariel wouldn't have a father right now. None of her other children would be here either. That thought had her hugging the little elf in her lap a little tighter and pressing a kiss to his hair. "No, you really can't. Just like I couldn't run when I had a choice to make. You just have to follow your heart and do what you think is best." CHuckling, "Listen to me telling you the same thing you told me all those years ago." A shake of her head, "I laughed at you if I recall correctly." But onto Malikahi and she settled Dhairiss on the bed and was about to call the boy when what's her face showed up. Eyes narrowed immediately and she made sure it would take her precisely three seconds to pull out a dagger, throw it and hit the woman in the throat. "That would be up to Piper."
PostPosted: Mon Oct 15, 2007 5:41 pm

Grinning to Faate then, "You think?" And he was being encouraged from all sides it seemed. He didn't know what a Galesen was but he apparently was an elf that they knew as well. What was so special about him? But would that all please his parents? He did still try to please them even if he didn't gain the praise from it. He blinked at Malik. "But don't I have to have their permission to compete? I wouldn't be able to get ahold of them in time."

"Galesen? There's an elf I haven't seen in forever." Though he hadn't forgoten that that elf still owed him a life debt and if he had to scoure planes to find him, he would indeed. But right now, there was no need for such things. But his attention turned down to his son and he pat down a cowlick in the child's hair. "She's coming. She just has to finish with health things."

"You laughed at me and tried to kill me a time or two. I do vividly recall a broken nose from you among other things." Shaking her head, "I told you that would all come back to get you, didn't I?" Piper stopped midstep though and turned her attention to the woman who graced their room. Now how did she get up here? Oh right...illusionist. She got in the same way Zykariel convinced Malikhai to sneak out. A sideglance to Zahara whom she noted the defensive twitch in. "Now is fine. It's alright Zahara." Licking her lips before turning her attention back to the other surface elf with a flick of her hair as well to cover up that ear of hers quickly. "You have to give me time, it's barely been a day. You and I have a deal, I would hate to think that you are a tad worried that may fall through. He should be here at least by the end of the day.

He didn't like being put down and he pouted for a minute before sliding off the bed, vial still in hand. Unafraid he toddled up to her, blinked up a few times and then turned to his own mother. "She's pretty mama." And then toddling off toward the bathroom, opening the door and slipping in, leaving said door open. He almost vaulted into the bathtub, but merely grabbed the edge and pushed up on his toes. "You're done!"

And leave it to little brothers to burst in on you when you were trying to relax. Apparently he was functioning as a timer today. "Am I? Then go grab my towel." Pointing to the towel that was set out on the sink near by, his brother duely doing as he was hold. LIttle brothers were great sometimes to act as gophers.

"Well you're seeing him now." A small chuckle could be heard from the table near by as an elf turned toward them. A small grin could be seen though the hood that was over his head and when he pulled it back Galesen could be fully seen. A look to Faate and he raised an eyebrow a little. "I said I was going up there but I never said how long now didn't I?"

A turn to the large blue elf and he leaned against the back of his seat a little bit. "So what's this about putting some elf underneath my care?" His eyes shifted to the only elf who he could spot who wasn't related at all to the people sitting at the table. "Is it you? I know you from fighting against Faate, you're pretty good. I can see you going pretty far if you train more." Well the boy had some good skills, maybe he could pick up a few new things at the fortress.

"time is a commodity we're running a bit short on. the jousting competition is today."

though a glance to another voice from the bathroom..and her attention back to Zahara and Piper. She didn't say anything about the toddler, but frowned slightly.

"Neither of us feel like potentially losing a husband. A paladin is bound by honor and the oaths he makes. whatever happened at Kithcor, he swore to avenge. Unless this person you are summoning can convince him otherwise, I don't see a pleasent outcome to this."

Malik would have smirked if he'd thought it wouldn't have frightened the boy.

"I'll sponsor you. afterward, we'll just have to find your parents, and they can sign some paperwork that the tournament officials can file away postdated. I'll pull the strings, they get the paperwork in order afterward so it'll be properly setup to appear under any other scrutiny that they were done on time."

and a turn in his seat with a smirk this time.

"and there you are, Galesen. yes, this would be the one here. he seems like he'd be quite capable with the proper training. You haven't done that bad yourself."

"Oh I do. But it would involve taking a very heavy, blunt object to your husband's head and I'm sure you'd be opposed to that as I would you taking anything to mine. But by knocking him out at the very least he wouldn't be able to joust and we might gain some more time if her proof doesn't show up in time." Zahara smiled sweetly then glanced at the bathroom and poked her head in. "Just hang out in here for a minute, Malikhai. C'mere Dhairiss." Picking the toddler up and bouncing him in her hold, she walked back out and put her finger to her lips to keep the child quiet. "I'm still not quite sure why the first death didn't take care of it? Is his thought that because Malik didn't stay dead, he must not have died at all?"

Faate nodded encouragingly, "I do. And Uncle Malik has a lot of sway with these things. But if you're gonna compete, you need to eat." Ordering him a bowl of oatmeal, she dumped some brown sugar into it and pushed it over to him. "There. That'll stick with you. That's what Mama says."

Kelligrin made a face and ran his hand through his hair. "Messed up Daddy!" Messing it up even more, he glanced back and pouted. "She gonna hurry?" But his attention turned back to his juice and he picked it up and took a careful drink. Tugging on his father he pointed to Galense. 'Who that?"

Zykariel's brows rose as Galesen appeared on the scene. "I wondered when you were going to pop up. Figured if you were here you'd have been in one of the competitions. And you told Khai that you were planning on traveling for a while or something. Then again he may have told me wrong, I don't really know."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 16, 2007 3:10 pm

"Time should not be an issue. I told you that I would have your proof and you assured me that you would stay away from my family and off my land until I delivered such proof to you. Don't tell me that your honorable husband looks to sully that deal and make you look bad in the process." Okay a tad harsh...but why shouldn't she be? This was her only protection at the moment and she was going to hold onto like a starving dog to a hunk of meat. She was tempted to laugh at Zahara's proposition but she kept it to herself this time. "How about you stop feeding into his honor and make him see that he's doing nothing but harming that beloved honor by destroying innocent lives. Malik may be no innocent, but his children are. Is he trying to drive them to swear their own vengences?"

He fussed for a moment as he was picked up, reaching for his brother but being pulled away from him. Sometimes he was clingy to his brother. But bouncing and the finger got him to quiet and merely cross his little arms across his chest and proceed to pout.

Malikhai blinked as he took the towel from his brother and then Zahara duly spirited him away as well as telling the teenager to stay where he was for the moment. Though his ears did twitch to the extra voice in the room. Pushing himself up to stand with some great effort he stepped out of the tub and toweled off some, wrapping it around his waist before listening at the door that was somewhat open from his brother barging in earlier. That was that woman's voice...

"Surprise, surprise. Galesen isn't dead after all. I was beginning to wonder." He smirked though at both tanned elves. Little half and half shouldn't of opened his mouth...Malik took up on things like that and now the boy was going to be more or less stuck. Seemed he was so as Faate backed Malik and made the boy eat. More like her mother again. But he chuckled lightly at his son as he didn't like his hair being brought to order. "I'm sure she will. No worries, you'll see her. And that my little elf, would be Galesen. He's like the help." Because he couldn't pass up the opportunity to mess with him. Had it really been that long? "Galesen I do believe you haven't been around in so long that you haven't the honor of seeing my youngest." A look to his son, "Who are you?"

Oh it got worse. Apparently Malik had that kind of authority. "Y-yeah okay. I'll just take the paperwork to them and have it sent back to you." Well now he didn't know whether to be excited or not. Apparently Faate was because she shoved him food...and this time he dug into it without shame or being slow to take his time. But red eyes did blink at Galesen. "Um thanks...and my name's Mykorian." Confidence levels were high in this group.

"you misunderstand. I'll keep my deal with you. my concern is that if your person is not here by the time the jousting is finished, your husband will probably get called out again. not to mention your son is already badly hurt, not that I am trying to admonish what happened, but my husband is not going to pull his punches, so to speak, though he knows how bad the injuries may be. I was hoping if your person was here earlier enough, we could get this over with and I can convince him to withdraw from the competition."

though she did offer a frown.

"I've tried. it's for the 'greater good'. Your relationship simply has been counter weighed against many, many others who act as you are now. though they have been molded through unspeakable or unknown means to be such. the list that I can show him of star-crossed love stories and beauty and the beast fables for examples of what you may really be, is simply in short supply compared to the real examples he can counter with."

she took a look around, before motioning to a chair.

"would you mind terribly if I sat down?"

Gotcha.

"Normally that might be acceptable, but for this particular type of situation I'll need to come myself or at the least send a notary with you to verify and witness it. for safety reasons, in case your parents don't want you competeing, they can't use this as leverage in any judicial system against myself or the tournament coordinators in the case of any accidents. after all, your hurling a deadly weapon. miss the target to hard, and you could injure someone. or even dropping a knife on your foot will hurt."
