The only furry I could respect is a Werebear.

There are reasons why I will never enter as a Werebear. All the carnage such a beast could cause xD

Hobo werebear.

Devastates garbage in both forms.

Does is forcibly transform if he finds honey in the garbage?

Also if you enter a plain human into the GTB.. you kind of know that you're entering at a handicap, so it shouldn't be surprising if your character ends up on the wrong end of a beatdown, especially if they're not particularly trained for combat either.

It's like playing HS or semi-pro football and walking onto the field to play against some NFL team. You know coming in that s**t is NOT in your favor.

Well, regular people don't enter a worldwide high violence fighting competition.

If you enter a human being, it's going to be anything but regular. It will be an accomplished and capable fighter at the least, otherwise it would never be brought into the tournament.

That just makes victory that much sweeter.

You don't know Thurgood; he fights his battles with the power of chemical energy (i.e. firearms).

The story is in the GTB IV, his parents (alcoholics they are) entered him in a misguided attempt to toughen him up. The only reason Thurgood returned last year and this year is because he's a determinator, and has to come back until he gets first place or gets killed off for good (much more likely the latter).

It makes victory impossible. Unless the tournament becomes obviously rigged in the person's favor.

Mortal Kombat is actually the perfect example especially given how things are going. There were only a few real human competitors in MK, and they weren't even that great compared to the non-humans. Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage weren't even "regular" human beings. One was an accomplished SWAT member and the other was a worldwide fighting champion. That said, both those fighters were considered liabilities as the tournament got to its final stages and the humans didn't even win the thing without cheating.

Thurgood is fine I guess. I mean I really don't know because I haven't seen much of him.

I think it should be assumed though, for logic's sake, that the tournament actively screens the entrants to make sure they're... good. You don't want to waste a slot of this highly prestigious event on someone who will only last 5 seconds. Even amateur events like American Idol have a long process of elimination.

Either that or Thurgood will have to rely much more on his brain to overcome the other contestants' brawn: mind over matter.

Logical smogical.

There must be the crappy people to make the good people look that much better. Much like a half way attractive girl being friends with ugly girls, so that they look better by comparison. Makes a 6 an 8 with no effort.

In the movies Cage even has powers, although we only see one move worth of it in the second movie before Shao Khan murders the s**t out of him like it's nothing. Then again, Shao Khan is also easily superhuman even though he has no overt "powers" like Shang Tsung does.

Shang Tsung is also the most badass figure of either of the movies. The guy who played him should have been cast as a big-time villain more often in blockbuster films.

Hiroyuki Tagawa played Hiroshima in that bad Tekken movie. That's more than enough.

You mean Heihachi? Pretty sure Hiroshima is a city.

He's actually taking the part of Shang Tsung up again for MK: Legacy, the webseries that's been bumping around over the past year or two. Supposedly it's going from webseries to full on movie again, but who knows.

I know what you mean by powers, but I don't think the Shadow Kick is supposed to be magical or anything. I could be wrong because it's been a loooong time since I watched those movies, as awesome as they are. Well, the first one anyway.

Man that original MK was such a great movie. It's one of those few movies where the adaptation from video game to movie is really spot on.
