luckily we picked up our PS3 when they were still backwards compatible. at first i was skeptical because, like you said, there wasn't too much i wanted on it that was PS3-exclusive (it's my brother's system). but recently my brother and i have been getting a lot of our games for it and i'm warming up to it. drake's fortune was COMPLETELY worth it, among others like dead space and resistance.
but anyways! i know that if i got RE5 for the 360 high chances are i would run into those 10 year-olds that think they are sooo badass and i would shut off the online play entirely lol. hopefully they'll be an older crowd playing the PS3 version. ~crosses fingers~

MGS4 is the reason I own one. I didn't own it until the very day MGS4 released. Virtua Fighter 4 is a cool bonus, and they got some other decent exclusives too... probably about just as decent as XBOX's (I'm not much of a Halo guy, but I like Gears and s**t). PS3 has pretty horrid load times, though. But really, pretty much everything is coming out for both. XBOX's online is much better than PS3's, but then again, PS3's is free. So you get what you pay for. All in all, not a bad system. It's improving. And like I said, I haven't had to replace it twice. Pretty much every 360 owner I know has had to replace the thing at least once.
@zeldagirl: I doubt it. I'm playing Street Fighter IV online right now, and there's all kinds of obnoxious kids (and adults) on there with their damn microphones. -_- And really? They don't make anymore backwards compatible models? Bummer.

Canas: Sorry to hear that. That's the one thing I don't like about the 360. Everyone's breaks at least once. confused The problem me and my husband had with ours in the past was that it wouldn't read any discs.
Vankala: I think it's completely compatible with PS2 games, but I've heard some PS1 games won't work, while some can have lag like Final Fantasy 7 (there is lots of lag when Knights of the Round is summoned).

They used to be backwards-compatible but now all they're selling now are the PS3s that don't play PS1 & PSX games.
We've only had to send our 360 in for repairs once. It only took about a week or so. So far, we haven't had to replace it. At least not yet anyways. sweatdrop

THOSE ******** PRICKS! scream
*writes angry letter to Sony that will never be sent*
How could they seriously do that to people? Backwards capability is what helped the PS2 sell.

Now now......we don't want the cop to end up at your door step...Oh wait...that would mean I would have cops too, but then again I'm not sure if they would bother since I'm half way around the world.*snickers.*

It always pissed me off that the PS3 isn't backward compatible anymore. It's actually making me think I want a 360...

Yea, right now, if you don't have either the 360 or PS3, the better choice is the 360. I usually really like Sony's products but what they're doing with the PS3 is disappointing.

I'm so conflicted, but I think I really want a PS3 over a 360. The free Online is a major plus for it (I don't want to pay for something that I think I'm going to use a lot and then don't), and having a Blu-Ray player helps my choice as well. I don't care that it doesn't have backwards compatibility; That's why I have my PS2. I dunno...And I don't really want my system dying on me...

Well, I hear the PS3's online thing isn't really that good and you can get a Blu-Ray player for alot less than a PS3.

Yeah. I was planning to get the PS3 but after experiecing my friend's 360. I changed my mind. It's got alot more pros then the PS3 does. Really, the online play is good if you got a friend or know someone who's got it to play with you. Even then, it's a bit cheaper then PS3.

I don't find backwards compatibility to be much of an issue, because if I want to play my PS1 and PS2 games, all I have to do is turn on my PS2. And lets not forget that 360's backwards compatibility is nothing to write home about. There's been many issues with it. My 360 model doesn't even have it at all. The reason they took the backwards compatibility out of the PS3 was to make it more affordable.
Another couple pros with PS3 is it's wireless is built-in. If you want to get wireless with the 360, you have to buy a $100 wireless adapter separately (not including the cost for an XBOX LIVE membership). So that right there already brings the 60GB 360's price up to $400. Also take into consideration that with the 360's wireless controllers, you have to either constantly replace the batteries or get a battery charger, which costs more money. With the PS3, you can charge the wireless controllers right through the USB port that's built-in to the system. And as already stated, every 360 owner here has had their 360 s**t the bed on them at some point, and had to send it in to be either fixed or replaced.
So when you really get down to it, PS3 isn't a whole lot more expensive than the 360, because it comes right out of the box with features that you have to buy separately with XBOX 360.
And PS3's online is fine. It has just about all the same features that LIVE does. No, it's not as good as LIVE (LIVE has a lot more content), but it is free. Like I said, you get what you pay for. You can still play online with your friends, download stuff, trailers, games, etc. I'm perfectly content with it.
And I personally could care less about Blu-Ray. I don't even have an HDTV, so.

Vankala Well, I hear the PS3's online thing isn't really that good and you can get a Blu-Ray player for alot less than a PS3. Home is kind of boring, at least for right now. I've heard the Japanese version has a lot of clothes and stuff, while we barely get s**t. I think the boredom (or mine at least) comes from having no one to play with. There are people on Home, but I don't like to interact with complete strangers. sweatdrop

Well this is a guild so everyone shares at least one thing in common, so I know I would have at least one thing to chat about with the people here, compared to Home which has a very diverse population.
