Kelirahc smiled warmly. "I am certain that she will," he agreed. "But I feel I should warn you ... his greatest temptation will be regarding Andarien. To be a father, to have a young son, but not be able to hold him ... that will be quite difficult for him."

And if Andarien was anything like Amalirahc had been, he wouldn't understand why his father couldn't hold him, either.

Kelirahc smiled. "I am certain it would be all right for him to play with Andarien," he suggested. "But yes, do watch how he uses his arm. He tends to ignore his own needs."

Not that he had to tell Lin that, she knew the man she had married very well indeed.

"Dinner," Arthael called out, signaling that dinner was ready to be served.

The rain also brought Earendil slowly to consciousness, and though he was still paler than usual from his loss of blood the day before, he was feeling somewhat better. He made no movement to get up, though - when he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was Lin, and that was enough to make him lay still.

He smiled gently at her. His instinct was to reach over and brush her hair away from her face, but his arm wouldn't respond. Frustration flickered through his eyes, and he sighed softly and rolled onto his back, flinching when his injured shoulder touched the ground.

"This is going to take some getting used to," he murmured softly, trying to hide his pain as he looked over at Lin.

Earendil turned his head and leaned it against Lin's, breathing softly and taking in her scent. "Hm. With you here, I'm just fine."

He pressed his lips to hers and kissed her softly, ignoring the fact that both of their children were still in the tent with them, and that Miyuki was wide awake. Andarien was still fast asleep, but that wasn't unusual for him; he usually woke up when they started breakfast.

Although ...

"It sounds like it's raining," Earendil commented thoughtfully. "I suppose we won't be going far today ..."

He used his good arm to push himself to a sitting position, and he shivered slightly in the cool air. He still hadn't put on another shirt since the accident, and sitting up had made his blanket fall away. Still, he had no idea even how he would get a shirt on - what with his arm being dead and all.

Earendil nodded slowly, careful not to tense the muscles in his shoulder - though that was difficult.

"So all we can do is talk in her language and see if she understands anything," he murmured. He sighed softly. "Yes ... I don't know. I would like a shirt on, it's a bit cold with the rainy weather, and I've a feeling it's only going to get colder. I'll need your help though to get my other arm through the sleeve ..."

He could tell already - the coming year was going to be a whole lot of not fun.

And just at that moment, Andarien began to wake up, whimpering softly as he rose to consciousness.

Andarien snuggled into Lin's arms, laying his head on her shoulder, and yawned again. "Bah," he said as he reached for Lin's necklace, intent on chewing on it again.

Despite the growth, some things hadn't changed.

Earendil chuckled, watching the two, and a part of him ached when he realized that their son would probably grow again before he could hold him.

Andarien just yawned and started chewing on Lin's shirt instead. It seemed he was willing to chew on anything at the moment - probably he was hungry, though of course having just grown he didn't yet know how to express it.

"Maybe you should talk to Arthael and see if he's ready for something a bit more solid," Earendil suggested. "You could find out the plans for today as well, then."
