Mala summoned up a barrier around Riley and the child, making absolutely sure to stay in the middle of the doorway and block the only path from Angel to the baby. She almost seemed to be in a trance as she kept the spell up.

"Enjoying each other, I assume," Alek murmured with a shrug.
When the baby was gone, Angel cried silently. She looked at Mala and murmured, "Her name is Jezebellun, isn't that a pretty name? She's my baby, my little dhampir, and when I'm sane I'll love her, my little baby. Little Jezebellun..." She yawned. "I need blood. More blood. Can I n** you, Lala?"

Mala, seeing the situation, didn't honestly mind one bite so long as it didn't kill her. She approached Angel. "It is a pretty name. As for biting me, I don't mind for his occasion unless it kills me."

"It's really just her," Alek said with a shrug.
Angel nearly salivated as Mala approached, then bit into her wrist and drank and drank until she pulled away, gasping happily. "There. You'll need to rest for a while, but you'll live." Angel yawned as her teeth returned to normal. "Mmm... I can't wait until I can hold little Jezebellun to my breast... I bet she's hungry now, I need to feed her." Angel's voice was a little frightened, her voice reflecting her desire to protect her child. "Where is Jezebellun? I need to feed her! She must be so hungry, oh, my poor child..." She was crying, forgetting all about the whole murderous rage thing.

Mala stumbled away a couple steps, looking rather pale as she nearly fell over. Thankfully, she was able to catch herself and lean against the wall. She no longer had the energy to keep the barrier up.

Van looked worriedly over at Mala, torn between holding down Angel and going to support his weary girlfriend. "Riley has her, she's fine." he told Angel. "As soon as we're sure you're not going to hurt her, we'll let you go."

"But she needs me," Angel said, earnest pleading on her face as she looked at Van. "My baby, she's probably crying right now, she needs her momma, she needs to feed, she must be starving!" Her eyes flew from Van to Mala, back and forth. "Please! I-if you won't let her in, can you at least make sure she's okay?"

Meanwhile, a block or two away, stood Riley on a street corner feeling like a creep, a freak, and an idiot as he gently bounced and shushed baby Jezebellun in his arms to calm her down, still covered in blood as Angel had instructed. "I knew we were forgetting something. Thanks for letting us know when I can come back, Angel..." he said softly as he looked back at the inn.
