Damrius Damrius let the stick hit the ground, and dodged to his left. He had remembered what had happened what he would flick his wrist. No need for another sword to peirce his chest, let along something worse. You really--: biggrin amrius might recognize the snapping sound that came when that first sword pierced the stone and then him. If he did, he might recognize the sound coming from behind him just after he dodged the marble. If he turned around he would infact see a sword aiming straight for his chest yet again. He had about a second and a half to decide how to dodge or otherwise defend against the sword coming at him. The real issue was not the sword coming from behind him though. The issue was that he would have to turn around to see the sword coming, and the moment he turned around, his opponent would flick another marble at his exposed back. A marble he wouldnt be able to see because he was turned around. While on the other hand, if Damrius decided not to turn around, he would see the second marble, but he would totally miss the sword coming from behind him.:: Very rude. ::He said, looking a bit cross.::

Damrius did turn around, but at that same instant, tore his coat off teh second he heard the other marble whistling through the air. He saw the indent on the coat, and dropped it, all the while using that energy of his to boost jump him about eight yards away.
Damn... THat's my favorite coat too.

He saw the indent on the coat, and dropped it, all the while using that energy of his to boost jump him. ::As expected the sword tore through the coat.:: Eye for an eye. ::He said with a mischievious smirk. But now there was completely different issue at hand, Damrius was in mid air. In mid air without wings, or rockets, or brakes. He balled a fist, all 3 swords spiraling together, and then pointed his hand straight up as if stabbing the air. Damrius, in mid air, would find 3 swords converging on him. Rather than flying in the same directly they did infact converge. One coming from below, one from ahead, and one from behind. Each aiming to pierce straight through the chest. Being much more aerodynamic than a human body and lighter, the blades moved faster.:: Aerial attacks are entirely to slow, humans are definately not birds Mr. Damrius.

Damrius only felt the swords peirce his skin, and then blinding pain. He screamed out, unsure of whether he was going to live or not, and with the pain, came energy, which would burts in all directions. Black energy, wild, uncontrollable. A last attempt for vengeance.

::Thankfully for the black clad man, Damrius had landed about 30 feet away, what with the swords giving his flight a little extra push to the already powerful 8 yard leap. Just before impact the figure opened his gloved hand, and all 3 swords escaped from Damrius's body, hovering onimously over the fallen warrior as his bolts and blasts whipped and lashed at the terrain.
30ft away, the figure watched. Despite the horror of what was actually going on, the sight of random bursts reaching out across the snow was actually quite beautiful. A wonderful ballet of black and white, galloping through the gently snow fall.::

All was quiet in the void as the endless flow of time continued on its neverending path to whatever its ultimate destination was. It ebbed and flowed peacefully through the entirety of the void, along with the massive ammounts of magical energy that made up this strange place. Here was where there was no absolute time, no absolute place. It was here, and yet it didn't exist. It was a physical realm of existance, yet it had no TRUE boundaries within its limits. It was a place where time, space, reality, existance, life, death, and all planes of being merged to form a realm so shrouded in mystery one could spend their entire life studying it and never fully understand its many inner workings. This was the Etherial Void, a living paradox if ever there was one. And deep within the "Center" of this mass of endless space and time was a single construct. This construct symbolized existance and each creature's place among it in the form of a giant and massive tree, larger than any tree existing anywhere else in the known world, or Universe for that matter, and around it floated millions of platforms each one the home to a different reality where fighters might clash, or friends might speak of days gone by. This construct was the Tree of Life, a massive magical symbol of existance, ever growing as infinately complex in its branches as the Universe itself. But then, something unexpected happened, something that should NOT have happened under normal circumstances. A strange etherial wind began to stir the leaves and branches of the Great Tree at the center of this mass of existance and non-existance. The energies slowly began to drift about at quicker and quicker paces, beginning to whirl and whip about in a chaotic frenzy of colors so amazing one would believe it to be nothing but a dream. But this was real, and even for the void, reality was reality, albeit a different form of reality. Then, something began to take shape in the upper echelons of the void. A distinct point of light began to appear where there should be nothing at all. A soft white light came into focus and soon, it began to crackle and spark, archs of sparks and what appeared to be electricity zipping around this tiny pinprick of illumination in the otherwise dimmed reality of the void. It slowly began to grow, getting brighter, and more massive as energy from below zipped up to feed this tiny ball as if it craved power, energy. And then suddenly, it erupted! A massive burst of light and raw magical energy shot from the tiny pinprick, covering nearly one fourth of the total viewable "sky" of the void. Glowing orbs of energy rained down upon the "ground" of the void, being absorbed back into it as a massive ball of firey white energy spat from the center of the mighty hole that had been torn in the void, and rocketed towards the "ground", slamming into it with mighty, cascading waves of energy being released, and streamers of white light and tiny sparkling bits of energy rained down all around a singular figure, dressed in white, as bigger shimmering orbs of energy raind down onto the "ground" of the void, spreading out and being absorbed into this vast and endless sea of arcana. The figure in white looked up at the branches of the construct known as Tree of Life, and around him at the area known as the Etherial Void. He took a gloved hand and brushed back his spiked silvery hair. His swords had made it cleanly through the transition from elemental plane to the Paradox of the Etherial Void without incident. Ryugi Kazamaru was alive, and he'd made the trip soundly. And now, he looked for a way to continued his journey.

::The light gushed down like a luminous rain of light, it sprinkled from the Heavens of this endless place, down to the grassy ground. That truly was a sight to behold and in this place no matter how chaotic, a rare sight, is a rare treat.
And as it retreated a feeling lingered, there was something, or someone there. Could this be?! After all this time, as the only concious being present in the interum between imagings, could this place finally have another guest? Another visitor?
It felt like forever. And yet it also felt like yesterday, and it felt like, 2 seconds ago, and it felt like tomorrow, when a guest was last here.
As the light grew stronger, on the opposite side of the tree, its shadow grew longer and thicker, this was the normal balance of light and dark. Only as the light faded, instead of returning to its normal home the shadow whipped back behind the tree, and from it a figure rose.
He was clothed in a long black hooded coat, buttoned down to the waist, with the hood pulled up. The hood cast a shroud over the top half of his face, leaving only the pale round face below visible. His long sleaves reached down to a pair of black leather gloves. The right glove fully covering the hand, while the left was fingerless.
The figure reached down to its pocket pulling a black pocket watch and gently clicking it open. A whistle could be heard from behind the tree as the man spoke.::
One thousand, nine hundred and eighty seven years, eight months, three days, and forty three hours...and you've got a while to go! Thats pretty impressive!
::There was a second click as the watch was closed and slipped back into his pant pocket.::
Is this your first time?

Ryugi raised an eyebrow and turned to face the figure in black. He spoke calmly and clearly, and his voice was filled with kindness and curiousity.
Well, that would depend on where exactly this place was, for I've been to many strange and wonderous places in my one thousand, nine hundred and eighty seven years, eight months, three days, and forty three hours.
But it seems you are comfortable with this place. Would you bychance know what and or where this place is?

Of course!
::He said opening his arms wide and stepping forward.::
This, my good friend, is the void!
::He stepped closer, turning around and gesturing upwards as if to show off the massive tree stretching into the sky before the two men.::
Its home to the wonderful and mysterious tree of life!
::He spun around, laying a hand on Ryugi's shoulder, and using the other to gesture at the bland empty landscape around them. There was the ground below them...and white...that was about it.::
Here, is wherever you want here to be. If you want your home, it is your home, if you want a city it is a city. Yet at the same time its nothing and nowhere at all. It exists in every, and any time, and space.
::He smiled from ear to ear, a bright and friendly smile matching the bright and friendly look on his face. At least the half of his face that was visible beneath the hood.::
I am less comfortable and more....
::He paused for a moment, his head looking upwards and scanning the branches as if searching for the word that he had misplaced. And then looked down meeting Ryugi's eyes as it came to him.::
...trapped.
::His smile shrunk a bit, but quickly perked back up.::
Eitherway, its always good to see a friend!

Ryugi chuckled a bit and looked about.
Company makes any lonely desolate place better. You know, you remind me of someone I once knew.
Ryugi looked up at the tree in wonder as he spoke.
He passed on not too long ago, and I've seen nor heard nothing from him since.

Is that so?
::He almost looked as like he was about to laugh. His cheeks stretched out that extra inch, and then he broke, letting out a small chuckle but quickly muffling it in his sleave.::
I'm sorrry, I dont mean to sound rude, or heartless.
::His right arm twitched rather randomly. And he shyly slid it behind his back, as he continued. He tried his best to hide the smile on his face and slip it down into a concerned expression, but he was failing quite miserably.::
What was this friends name?

Don't worry, no offense taken.
he looked back down from the tree to talk to this strange man in black. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was familiar somehow.
His name was Maximos. I only knew him for a short while, but in that short time he became one of me best and most trusted friends. Peace be with him wherever he is...

Indeed.
::He said with a smile, taking a moment to look down at the ground in memory of those that had passed.::
He seemed like a nice fellow. A real friend..., much like yourself Ryugi. Thats an aweful nice thing to say.
::He spoke like he knew the man, but one would think that was impossible.::
You know the greatest fear the dead hold, is being forgotten.
::He turned around, taking a step toward the tree, and bringing his hands up to the sides of his hood. Then ever so slowly as if pulling back a long kept secret, he pulled the hood back, and down around his neck.
The first thing visible, was his spikey navy blue hair, though above his ears the blue had faded to a dark black. Slowly, he turned around, revealing the face of Ryugi's long lost friend. A face which smiled brightly from ear to ear in a way truly only Maximos could.::
Thank you for remembering...

Maximos Indeed. He seemed like a nice fellow. At first Ryugi smiled, a little somber, but nonethless agreeing with the man, until... Maximos A real friend..., much like yourself Ryugi. Thats an aweful nice thing to say. How did he know... How did he know Ryugi's name? He was certain that he hadn't told this strange man what his name was, and yet...this man seemed to know exactly who he was. Was it possible this man had known his friend? Had Maximos told this man of him? Maximos You know the greatest fear the dead hold, is being forgotten. And then the man turned, showing his back to Ryugi as so many questions began to flood his mind. Who was this man? Did he know Maximos? Had he met him? How did he know his na-- All sentient thought stopped in Ryugi's mind as the hood dropped off the man's head. It....can't be...Ryugi spoke quietly, almost lower than most humans could hear. His voice was hushed, awed, almost non-believing. He doubted and yet at the same time he wanted to believe that what he was seeing was truly real. That navy hair...the way he spoke...the mannerisms... But mostly it was... T-That smile....Maximos Thank you for remembering... Maxi...mos...? Is it...really you...?A single tear rolled down Ryugi's cheek as he saw his friend's face for the first time in well over a year. Ryugi was known to be emotional in times of great happiness, or times of great sorrow. He'd cried when Vargus and his parents had died. He'd cried when Kara died. He'd cried when his friends had fallen in battle over the years. He'd cried after telling Ryudo how he cared about him and could never kill him because he was the only family he had left. And he'd cried when he'd said goodbye to this man in the stadium. And now, he cried as he looked upon him once more, in the most unexpected place anyone would hope to find another.

::That heart felt reaction was certainly appreciated as much as it was unexpected. There was no way to say "Yes its me!" without ruining the moment, so simply reached his right hand out and layed it gently Ryugi's shoulder...after it twitched ever so slightly. And then he smiled from ear to ear.
This being knew he wasnt the original, in all truth and honestly he was not really Maximos, though he was really close. A shadow of his personality, of his mannerisms, of his fighting style. But just a shadow none the less. A fraction of the real thing. Though identical in every visible way.
But even with a fraction of the mans heart he could not dream of being heartless enough to look Ryugi in the eye and say "No. I'm not.". For now, he was better than nothing, and if anything once Ryugi moved on he would have served as a hope that his long lost friend was out there somewhere. For him, this wasnt a moment that needed words. Just a smile, and a comforting hand on the shoulder.::
