Malik opened his mouth to retort before she stormed off on him, and that made him chuckle a bit. He wasn't agreeing. but stating the obvious that some things don't die. some old ways still have the chance of reemerging in the present. That's why he didn't fight. not because he felt that arrogant koada'dal was right, or that he deserved to die for those past sins, but because he was concerned that rekindling that fight would rekindle the ashes of a version of himself better left dead. Everyone has self-doubts now and again, don't they?

So he gave her about fifteen minutes, before getting himself up and taking a moment to check on his oldest, before following the angry bond after his wife. Sometimes that woman jumped to the wrong conclusions, and this was one of them. not that he couldn't see how she'd come to that. probably should have worded things a little better.

Onyx was doing his nightly hunting, mostly little critters that annoyed people, as he fed those to Ironsides when he was around. Bode had been gorwing into a rather good looking young woman, and was of course Ironside's caretaker with Simon while Onyx and Moonstone helped on the surface. but Piper's scent got close..and up ont eh rooftops with him, stalking, moving, and then pouncing on her.

"Well good evening aunt piper! what bring you out here?"

He nodded to her, knowing that what she said was for the best right now. Besides, gave him something to focus on when she did speak so that his mind didn't wander to places that it was better for it to stay out of right now. He angled his eyes down to her as she nuzzled him and then went about that ever caring way that she had about her. "Not as much, but still somewhat." Not that food was foremost in his mind anyway, food was one of those things that dropped away when he was off kilter. Blink at her suggestion then. "If you think it will help both of us, then I suppose so." Hey they had some of their best ephiphanies in such situations. Could crazy have ephiphanies? Crazy ones probably.

He gave what sounded like a line of rather obscene things in surface elf as she was pounced and thusly thrown to the dirt. Lovely. If she didn't recognize him, she would be hurting him right now. "I'm taking a walk...why are you stalking on roof tops? People are trying to rest you know and no one likes the click clack of claws overhead." Pushing him off of her, she got herself up and brushed the dirt off her person. It was not a good night. Surface elves were being obsinate, Malik was being maddening, her son was hurt, she left her other one back at the inn...the list went on and on.

Ah her husband. She loved him. Chuckling, she lightly slipped off his lap and walked on her knees to the side, patting the center for him to lie down then straddling his back once he did so. "My massages always help. They relax you and let me feel you up in a highly inappropriate way." Rubbing at his upper back for a moment, she slipped off of him and pulled her special oils out of her medicine bag then retook her position and began using them on his skin. "Perhaps these will help calm you too." Making circles on his back in the way she knew he liked, she questioned softly. "Had any awful reveries lately?"

"I'm hunting. I got a lizard to feed when I'm here. mostly vermin. and what's eating at you? come on, you know as my father's son, I got all those little tidbits of reading body language for the purpose of protecting the pack and hunting. want what passes for an underdark possum?"

holding up the reptilian thing.

Malik was taking himself a walk, casually and keeping tabs on his wife via bonds. he had picked up the pace, hand on blade when her anger/surprise spiked..but then it calmed out to the general iritation she had right now.
So still wokring hsi way toward her, stopping at a tavern for a moment to get a couple warm drinks and drink warming covers for the cups.

Compliant as ever for him, merely because right now it was easier and he wasn't feeling well on top of it. "Nothing is every highly appropriate when it comes to you." That was about as close to joking as she was going to get from him and he probably didn't even know he was doing it. Hm, it was slowly becoming the question answer session of the evening...but hey he had to give a little now didn't he? "Just the same ones as always. A little more vivid, but that's nothing new either. I still get the amount of time that I need. If not I go for a walk."

"Hunting...you sound more and more like your father everytime I see you. He seemed to always be hunting too." Raising an eyebrow at him, trying to keep a lid on her frustration before she started walking again, he would follow if he wanted...should of brought her cloak. "No thank you...I prefer my food either cooked for me, or in travel style these days. You and your lizard can have the possum. How's moonstone?"

"He's becoming more like our father if you ask me. generally serious, always looking to help through his medical services. surface side has had some effects, due to getting used to it. colds, flus, and injuries are a bit more prevalent."

following along, idly chatting.

"But it's not all bad. the place is repopulating, plants are growing. people getting used to flowing water. alot of the rivers and such down here don't flow much, calm and the like. had a bad canoe wreck some time ago due to the folks losing control in a rapid river."

"Some have been trying really hard to adapt the lizards to the surface. I've been workign with them some, since it seems kind of mean to push off my lizard on Bode all the time. I mean she likes him and he likes her, but it'd be nice to be able to ask her to watch him because she might want to, rather than she has to watch him or he dies kinda thing, you know?"

"Hm...well, glad to know that what I went through means something to everyone these days." Truth be told...she'd never really been topside here. Her surface visits had been to Andal and that was it these past years. Perhaps she was avoiding going because it was all indicative of a memory she didn't like to enjoy, especially the way it ended. Come to think of it the bad memories had been piling on when it came to pivital moments. Like now. "I'm sure they'll adapt in time once they learn that the sun will do them some good, make them more active and what not. And Bode is well?"

She nodded and went back to working his muscles, trying to relieve the tension she felt strung tightly throughout his body. She could tell that he really didn't want to talk about his current issues with the psycho in his head and she chewed her lip searching for some subject that wouldn't tip the insanity scales or upset him. Mykorian wasn't a good one and that left only their children since she hadn't really been privy to his life lately. At least not what was going on at work and such. "You didn't kiss the girls goodnight, did you?" Removing her body from his, she slipped down the length of the bed to the small of his back, rubbing her arms along there and then pulling off his boots and massaging his feet.

"No, I didn't. I'm surprised they've even stayed in that room for so long seeeing as I didn't. Usually it's a lot of fuss. But I think Faate was still upset from dinner anyway and well...you know how Faate rubs off on Lyssie." Letting her tend to his body as she wished, which yes was helping loosen up his physical self, though the mental state was still debateable...at least it wasn't silence in the room that was going on. Silence was the enemy, much like dust. At least right now it was. Then again he was still surprised Kelligrin wasn't occupying the crib in the room right now and that his son hadn't come to drop the little one off yet.

"She's doing great as far as I know. Simon as well. and it's not the sunlight. it's the climate. they just seem to be unable to adapt fast enough before thier bodies shut down."

"Then you need to be more gradual. they need to stop trying to bring full fledged adults and keep them until death. bring some of the younger ones, and take the time to move them back and forth until they can handle the surface."

And there was Malik, leaning on a wall, two drinks in hand.

"Thank you for keeping my wife company, but shouldn't you be getting back to your lizard and your own place of rest, Onyx?"

"Well...I suppose. Was nice talking to you, pip. I'll send your reguards to Moon and Bode, and I'm sure I'll see you tomorrow."

giving a hug and a nuzzle.

"And let malikhai know I'll be cheering him on in the joust."

before he disappeared into shadows that hid him so easily.

"I brought something warm for you to drink. I think we have a conversation to continue. you left abruptly before I could retort to that last bit there."

Zahara chuckled and moved her hands into the legs of his pants, rubbing at those muscles as well. "I think all the excitement wore Lyssie into an early reverie. She didn't get so much last night either and I pulled her rather abruptly this morning. Her little mind just couldn't take it all and dropped. I wouldn't be surprised if Kelligrin does the same thing and Faate too. She was a little too stressed over that competition." Pressing a kiss to his bare back, since she'd long ago stripped off his tunic. "I owe you gratitude over forcing me to let her participate. I've never seen her quite so pleased unless it was the time she brought me the poisonous flower that made her so sick when she was three." A shake of her head in remembrance for a moment. Her silly kids but they made her feel loved too. "You'll want to make sure you go in there and take care of that before you hit reverie yourself. If not you know you'll hear about it tomorrow."
PostPosted: Thu Oct 04, 2007 9:05 pm

Oh look he had just popped up ahead of them...probably had shadow walked. She was quite used to it by now wasn't she? Much so. Pausing in her steps a moment she gave a nod to Onyx, somewhat of a light smile. "I'll make sure to tell him, he needs the support right now and I'm sure moreso tomorrow." Tomorrow...a day she didn't know if she was looking forward to it yet. But onto walking again, taking the drink that was hers from Malik's hand as she passed and again silently imposing the 'if you want a conversation your're going to follow' clause as she had with Onyx. "Thanks." Giving a light sight and brushing some red and silver away from her eyes. "Usually when someone walks away from a conversation, it's like putting a period at the end of the sentence. Means it's done. You said what you needed to say, I finished the conversation."

He blinked lightly and turned a look over his shoulder at her. "I told you that it would be good for her. She needed to face people she didn't know who could give her a challenge, and thusly she came out with a more established sense of self." But a little sigh and a slight smile...he would of laughed if he was feeling a tad better. "Yes you're right...and there's nothing worse than upset daughters in the morning because they didn't get their due spoiling. Soon as you've had your fun here, I'll go do it and you can relieve Zykariel of Kelligrin. Fair?"

"But you walked away with the wrong impression. I wasn't agreeing with him. I know who I am and my place. my concern with facing him is to bring back a part of me that's better left dead. To rekindle old emotions that were consuming then. what I meant by the questions was a simple observation. is the person different just because the reasons change. I could do everything I did at Kithcor to protect you. does that mean someplace in me that monster still lives? probably. but a monster is not defined just by the actions it takes, but the reason for them. I did what I did at kitchor not because I was fighting for glory, but because I wanted to. I desired to do what I did, under Malvolence's influence. the butcher of kitchor died at kitchor. I'm not that creature, though we look identical."

taking a drink from his cup.

"but there are monsters that learn to hide what they are from the world, and everyone in it. a vampire for example. to the world, he looks a nobleman, genteel demeanor, kind, gracious. It's only after the doors are shut and lock, and when the prying eyes are gone, that the monster within is set free to feed. and that is what I feel is driving our Koada'dal."

"He's convinced himself that even though I appear to not be the same as I was then, though in any case his personal honor would probably seek the same end to me anyway, that what I was is there, hiding beneath the surface. that the face I show in public is not what I am in private."

"Malikhai so far has left a question to that. obviously our son is not the vicious beast I was. the very fact that he realized he went to far is claim to that...well...unless his wife just used that as the excuse to the judging panel. So I'm hoping that after tomorrow, wether he wins or loses, that he'll let things lie. If not, we have a decision to make."

taking another drink, looking over to his wife.

"Do I take up that enevitable challenge if he wins, or do we wait until he assails our doors if I refuse. if he loses, I imagine that will be enough for him to back away for a bit. But I think we both know that odds are, with our son's physical condition, he's not likely to lose. there's just not enough competition that has the equipment to handle the task of besting him."
PostPosted: Thu Oct 04, 2007 10:07 pm

"Yes you did and I'm sorry that I challenged you so fiercely on it because of my own fears and stresses. Sometimes you are far more objective than I am which is good for the kids." Her hands never ceased their busy but soothing motions and it didn't take long for her to rub every inch of him down, even taking off his pants though that caused quite the jump in the atmosphere in the room. She knew he wasn't up to certain things tonight though, so she kept her own body in check and merely handed him back his clothes when she was done. "Go take care of the girls. I'm going to get Kelligrin." Pressing a brief kiss to his lips, she slipped off the bed and walked into her oldest's room, where she was assaulted by a rather energetic little D'vinn. "What's going on?"

Zykariel glanced up at her as if she was the greatest thing he'd ever seen in the world. "I can't get him to stop, Mom. A minute ago he was leaping from the chair to the bed to the floor back ot the chair and all over again. He's like this huge bundle of energy that I can't simmer down. And I thought Dhairiss was the quiet one."

Zahara shook her head and picked up her own son whose eyes were droopy and toes were curling. He was about to drop off into reverie though his red eyes brightened immediately when he saw her and he nuzzled his head against her shoulder. "Try reading him a story? Or find something else for him to play with? Blocks or something. You've got to engage him in something aside from jumping." She frowned as the little elf waggled his blue fingers happily and then plopped down to study them intently. "Maybe he had something to eat earlier that's making him act that way?"

"He had this stick thing with sugar all over it. That must be what it is, huh? He offered some to me but I didn't want it and Piper took it back but I'll bet it was bigger at some point." A shake of his head and he whined, "M-om, how long is he going to be like this?"

She pressed a kiss to her oldest's head. "No idea. Just try to keep him contained the best you can. Hopefully Malik and Piper will be back soon to take him. And no, I will not. You agreed to watch him. Besides, now you can request compensation from them. Night Zykariel." He was still grumbling when she strolled back into her own room and settled the baby in his crib, rubbing his back gently to send him straight into reverie.
