"I didn't say I was going to stay in an inn. There's plenty of places that make good sleeping spots. What did you think I've been doing since tournament started? I'll be okay." But a blink as she took charge again and her little sister seemed to agree. "Don't you think your parents would be suspicious that I didn't have a place to stay? I can't stay with you...really I'll be just fine. I always find someplace safe.

"All about making sure he knows that he can't do that anymore if he doesn't want a lid. Simple enough." Going about scrutinizing milk stained clothing in that way he did whe he hated something. Plugging up the sink, he filled it and then tossed the clothing in to soak...there that was a little better. "Still half foolish. And it wouldn't surprise me if he was lying about something, that's what they do. But do tell, what do you think he's lying about?"

"Thank you Mr. Analyze my best friend and his ability to handle girls. Could we stop picking at me now? I hurt and can't think straight." And that temper he gained from his father was starting to show through some, mostly because the pain was getting irritating now rather than being able to handle it easily. "Sounds armory fun...It's already nice and softened up, I'm sure I can stand some more thrashing. Though yes if I feel wrong or start coughing up things or something, I'll tell Zahara. I don't think I have the means to play off anything at this point."

"You still don't even know half of it." Shaking her head as the men discussed Kaelin and how things had went. Wasn't that just so like them. Should of brought Keely to at least balance out the hormones in the room. A shake of her head at Zykariel. "Goodness Zykariel, that's enough food...put anymore in you and you're liable to explode. Not to mention you're making me sick." Oh she could not understand how that boy packed away so much food...his other siblings really didn't do it but he did it like he was going to hibernate.

And he was off across the room as he was set down, more pointedly over to Zykariel where he crawled up into the teenagers lap. That little elf could practically climb anything if he really wanted to. "Look!" He still had a sugary piece of treat in his hands and now he was sharing...wasn't it cute. Nevermind the sugar falling on Zykariel.

"I don't like the thought of you trying to find someplace safe, Mykorian. Especially with those boys who are probably looking to get the medal that is rightfully theirs back. They chased me down, I didn't tell you that, but they did." She paused a moment, thinking. "Just slip into our room. I'll leave it unlocked for you and I'll undo the runics that my dad always has out for our safety. You can slip in after they've gone to reverie and leave in the morning before anyone's awake if you're worried about getting caught." She turned to him and took his hands. "I won't take no for an answer. Lyssie knows to be quiet or else."

She handed the washcloth to the child and then dumped warm water over his hair to get all the soap out, careful to keep it from his eyes. Turning to glance at her husband for a moment, she was suspended in memory. How many times had they bathed together, sometimes wiht a toddler between them and sometimes just the two of them, slippery and sliding and then moving into the intimacy that can only be experienced by two who know each other so well. Blinking for a moment, she washed her son and then handed the dripping baby up to his father while she finished her own bath. "I don't know...but he is. Maybe that he got his parent's permission...or maybe something else. And it's not because he's got surface elf in him either. He's a child and he's hiding something. Faate knows what it is, too. That's the reason she didn't want me asking so many questions."

Kelligrin immediately began squirming and kicking his legs in an attempt to be held once again. The water was warm and out of it, he was cold and naked and highly unhappy.

Zykariel set his plate down just in time to grin at the toddler and chuckle, "Look indeed. You got yourself a little treat. Next thing we know you're going to be a sugar fiend. But you know what, Dhairiss, that runs in your family. I almost nicknamed your mama Aunt Cinnamon because she'd do anything for it." Tapping the little boy on the nose and bouncing him lightly in his lap. He didn't care if sugar got all over him, truthfully. Though he frowned at his uncle. "They suck. They aren't grace and beauty like horses but they can run as fast as the demon lord himself. I didn't think they were allowed on the racing circuit though. When did that change?"

"That's part of it. they're fast...but they have some added benefits as well. As to thier legallity, I'm not the one that knows that. but it looks like Onyx entered himself in the race. and the only mount I know of that Oynx has was a lizard mount he named ironsides. So I'm assuming that's what he's using. of course, a little intimidation tactic on his part might have convinced officials to 'overlook' that."

nodding to his eldest.

"that's right, you don't."

before glancing back to Zykariel and Piper.

"I bet that's the real reason he was selling those things. to get the entry fee. So, how's your sister doing, Zykariel? she alright after the competition? everyone all proud and whatnot of her accomplishment?"
PostPosted: Tue Oct 02, 2007 6:34 am

And now he was being told to sneak into places and he could just imagine the fiasco is such a thing were to go badly, more or less him getting caught by her parents. Yet the idea was wonderful in itself...resting indoors was better than outside where the underdark critters could get you, or in the stables where horses made noise all night. "Um...alright then, since you won't take no and you seem adamant abut it."

Walking over from staring down the contents of the sink, he grabbed a towel on the way and took the baby from her, wrapping him up in the towel in practicied ease as he had done so. Dripping would make him crazy and the kid was squirming. Bit of patting to soothe, warm, and dry him as he looked back to his wife in a slight stoic manner. "So accost your daughter on the matter. Don't ask me to do anything about it because it won't be nice. I hardly think being a child covers for him if he's lying and in turn also plotting or something of the like, especially around or with my daughter."

"Cinnamon is different from sugar, the tastes are completely oppiste. Don't blame me, Onyx gave it to him." Holding out a hand to the boy, and he duly handed over what was left of his churro, obviously not going to eat the rest. Too big for his little self. But a grin and an elbow to Zykariel. "Though that may be the least of your worries if I'm on the track." Giving a light laugh and for now let Zykariel hold onto the toddler as she gathered used dishes and empty plates onto one of the empty trays. Did not have time to wait for help. "I'm taking these downstairs, be good men." Thusly out the room with her momentarily and downstairs.

"Didn't now Onyx was the racing type." Shifting a little as he tried to find a better spot to lay his body in with a few noises of discomfort. How come pain always had to be worse than the moment such things happened? An exasperated sigh of sorts to his discomfort. Hell even his tunic hurt...this sucked so much.

"That's good. I'll request some extra blankets from the inn staff downstairs and another pillow. Mama and Daddy won't know a thing." She was keeping careful eye on the time and an even more careful eye on her sister. 'And Lyssie won't say anything, right?" Giving the younger girl an evil eye before she got her agreement. "Or I'll stick spiders in your bed but illusionary ones so that when you call Daddy to take care of them they aren't there." Lyssie's eyes widened for a moment and then she nodded. "I won't say nothing. Promise."

Faate ruffled her hair and then gave a nod. "Just come up the stairs. Say you're with the Inthara family, they can't keep us all straight anyway. Our room is the third one on the left. Mama and Daddy are right next door so be quiet and careful. Just poke me when you come in so I know you're there. Okay?" Giving a wave. "We gotta go."

She stared at him for a moment, not liking his tone of voice at all. Accost her daughter? He really was crazy, wasn't he? Not that that gave him an excuse to be mean... "I wasn't going to. I was just mentioning it to you." Splashing her arms and shaking her head. She should have known better than to mention such things to him. His feelings on surface elves had never changed and it didn't matter that Mykorian was only a child. He saw opportunity for betrayal. "I'll take care of it." She finished her own bath and wrapped herself in a towel, closing the bathroom door as she took a minute to think. It would be fair to say she really didn't like Sevilin too much right now.

"It's the principle of the thing." He let the child play with whatever he found interesting on his person and merely shook his head. "Onyx is that big cat like thing, right? Black with wings? He doesn't even need a lizard mount then. He could probably run the race with just himself though that would take special authorization." Then a grin to his aunt. "I've gotten better over the years though. You may not be able to beat me this time."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 02, 2007 1:18 pm

"To be fair, Onyx would win without you using nightmare shadow travel. his feline speed is more than enough to takea horse, add aerodynamics and wings to it and he probably could take you without too much trouble. I bet that's why he is using a mount."

a glance at his eldest, with a bit of a frown.

"We need to get you undressed. I imagine the sweat and dirt in those clothes is irritating and making you uncomfortable. But I'll tell Piper and Zahara about that. Zahara may have some special salve or something to apply as well."

a slight grin to Zykariel though.

"challenging the woman to a race? you know she might take you up on that just for stress relief. and I imagine Onyx on a lizard will make an even run, since his wings will act as drag on a mount a bit. probably keep it at even money. maybe I'll place a wager on this race and see what happens."

She was sitting at the bar, nursing a glass of what passed for wine by her standards, but was good by human ones. she was highly frustrated. no one she had found in this tournament so far had either knowledge of Malik D'vinn, or favorable outlook on the man. It was frustrating to think that once again they were going to have a fiasco if her husband was able to call out his enemy again.

He merely nodded to her words because he wasn't going to win if he protested, he was at least smart enough to know that by this point in his life. Some arguments you just couldn't win. "Alright...I'll see you later then..." Okie dokie...what had just happened there?

"Sometimes things do need to asked, whether or not the children like it." He blinked as she shut the door, leaving him with the baby and more or less telling him that that conversation was over. Great. Shaking his head, he dried off Kel and then got him dressed in his nightclothes before picking him up again and knocking on the bathroom door. "You can have the room for a while." Give the woman her space and he wandered out and down the hall to Malikhai's room, knowing that's where he'd find his other son. Breif knock before letting himself in, Kel in hand. "Though I'd find you here." Turning a glance to Malikhai. "And you're about all purple. Leave it to surface elves to beat you senseless even when they don't need to give it that much force."

And he made a face as his father spoke of Zahara and her methods fo health. "Of course she'll want to slather me in something. That's what she does, she had a salve for eveything I swear it. Remember that time me and Zykariel got stung by those bee things? We had to practically marinate in a brand of the stuff." Sticking his tongue out at that but managing at least to pull his tunic off...well that was a bit better. And look at that, he was all purple splotchy. Oh yeah, that was attractive. "Only almost maimed."

Things were duly taken from her as she sat them down, but something not common in the underdark caught her eyes. Well look at that, it was that man's wife. She licked her lips in her decision making, turning a look back to the stairs and then back over to the elf. You can do it...its just a surface elf. If you don't do it things are going to get bad. Taking a step and stopping, resting a hand on the bar. No really...you can do this. She doesn't know about what happened to you...even if she is a high elf and would verbally and morally maim you over it perhaps. Piper took a moment to fluff her hair over her halved ear some before pulling her bandana down to cover as well at least on the one side. Okay so now she just had an odd style that hid a secret...good enough for her. Forcing herself to walk over she sat down next to the woman. "I do believe...that you and I need to have a talk." Just remain calm...don't let her get to you...even if she looks at you funny, she doesn't know...damnable fear of surface elves apparently was there still just like it always had been.

Zahara was dressed and sitting on the edge of her bed when her girls came back in, right on time. She smiled at them both, gave them a goodnight kiss and settled them in bed then went back to her own room. Sevilin was gone and he had Kel which killed off her normal evening routine. She changed into a flowing nightgown and crawled into bed. Sevilin could come back whenever the hell he wanted to.

Zykariel glanced up as his father came in with his little brother in tow. "There's food here." Before over to his uncle. "He has to get clearance to race first. I don't think most of the others are goign to be too pleased with a winged creature racing. Too easy to cheat if it's on an open track. But I'll take them both without a problem. Destyny is the best. She's beaten Ramoth before." Though it wasn't in a true race, she'd still won.

"True enough. but Ramoth isn't trained for racing. Ramoth is trained as a warhorse. which means things that would make Destyny run in fear or become hard to control Ramoth can plow right through."

glancing over at Sevilin.

"Surface elves with centuries old grudges tend to do that sort of thing. But they don't outright kill like some Drow are liable to do if given the chance."

giving Sevilin the once over.

"Anything on your mind, Sevilin?"

She set her glass down, like she hadn't heard she'd been addressed, before she started to speak. it had a nice sound, a slightly melodic tone to it.

"What we need is to chain my husband to his bed and then yu husband as far from him as possible with your son in tow. How is the boy, by the way? nothing seriously injured?"

glancing over at her, through raising an eyebrow at the way her bandana was laying on her head.

"Did someone hit you in the head? is that why your keeping your banada that way?"
PostPosted: Tue Oct 02, 2007 4:34 pm

"Somehow it seems the vote of confidence has lowered in me within the last hour as I start to get more and more purple. Is this how it's supposed to go?" Shaking his head lightly before running a hand through his hair mixing up that lone streak of colors he had with other bone white strands.

"And you can always be found where the food is." And apparently they were talking about racing things. He was just having bad luck today wasn't he? Seemed so. "They rather maim you and leave you than outright kill you sometimes. To me that's worse, death is a release not a punishment in my opinion." Was he being sligtly transparent? "Zahara's a tad upset is all. I'm giving her a few moments."

Eek, don't freeze up, you're being a rabbit. Being a rabbit wasn't going to help her right now at all. Should of bit the bullet and pinned both ears back but she hadn't and now she had to quickfire through it and move on. Keep your breathing level...she was going to need a drink after this. "Toddlers are always flinging things around. Unforunate encounter with my youngest son's toy." Good one. "But that's not what we're talking about. Malikhai is just fine...very brusied and the like, but otherwise okay. He's going to joust tomorrow still, despite how he is now and we all know it will be worse tomorrow." Waving a hand dismisively to change subjects. "Forgive me for being blunt but...why can your husband not lay things in the past to rest? I admit Malik did some aweful things, I've seen them all myself but he's not that man anymore. Why is it such a crime that he's living a better life now and not even in Norrath?"

"One of those lovely traits that comes from you, Dad." Toasting him before taking a sip and shuffling Dhairiss in his lap. He was rather curious himself as to why his father was there but then again random gatherings of men were always nice too. "Release from what? And why?" Frowning at his father's logic in that respect. What precisely did he mean. Though he gave a grin to his best friend. "I still have faith in you, even if you do look like a girl."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 02, 2007 5:27 pm

"Only sometimes. other times, dying can be far worse then living. though I suppose I can imagine it in your circumstances as being what you think."

a smirk at his oldest.

"Yes. it goes like that, and then you get on the horse without falling down or slumping over, and everyone's opinion goes right back up again."

before back to sevilin.

"what is she upset about now?"

A small frown. She knew she was hiding something, but that wasn't a big deal right now.

"Nothing to forgive. I don't know all the details, I was at that fight, but I was in a different area. and though we share a bond, there are things he still keeps hidden from me. this is one of them. But it has soething to do with some personal honor issue. Whatever horrors your husband committed at the time, have left deep scars in him. and he feels it a personal affront that he's still alive after he apparently killed him."

"I don't look like a girl!" Frowning as much as he could, seeing as his face was killing him. But he mumbled something under his breath in a mix of languages and then merely shook his head and sighed. Tonight was going to suck in mass proportions. "Right, get on the horse and look fine, then stay on the horse."

"I can still put more down than you." Perhaps the only shred of comraderie that was left between them these days. Rare moments of reference back to such silly things as who could eat more in one sitting and they could both walk away laughing from it. But a slight sigh, "From an ever trying and toiling life that everyone lives in some form or another. The eternal rest ideal I suppose you could say...long as you're not linked to any obscure deities in odd ways." Pointed look to Malik at the one before giving a light shrug. "About surface elves...I think." No he really wasn't quite sure. He just knew he apparently messed up somewhere.

It was the same answer she had been given over and over again and she was so tired of it. No one would tell her anything really and the reason really couldn't be this petty. It just couldn't. "Me and Malik are bonded and he doesn't hide anything from me..." Pausing a moment as she was trying to collect her thoughts but it wasn't working too well. "What happened at Kithcor was nothing more than a slaughter. He slaughtered everyone that was there, his won men even. Then they fough and one felled the other. That's the jist of it, as I said I've seen it. I can't help but think your husband is being petty and unfair. What right does he have to take my husband from me, and a father from his children?"
PostPosted: Tue Oct 02, 2007 7:02 pm

"No, not a girl." he agreed but he wasn't quite done teasing yet. "You do look like a grape, though, I bet you'd make some icky juice. Kaelin might like it..." He gave a wince in sympathy to Malikhai's plight and shook his head. "It's hard enough to get back on when you're just bruised from teh horse throwing you a few times. I can't imagine getting on in full armor and taking another beating." Concern puckering his brow now though his father's insights caught his attention a moment. "Are you saying you'd rather die because life is hard?"

"and it was not a little known deity on my home plane. And the eternal rest things would be nice if it was even true half the time. mostly you go to the plane of whatever deity you worship and work for them for the rest of time."

though a glance at Zykariel.

"The things you consider hard, and the kinds of things that we're talking about, are on two entirely differently levels. leave it at that."

She took another drink.

"the father is taken to spare the son from becoming the monster. a wife spared torments that tier'dal give. I imagine you've come across the idea before that your not as well off as you seem. comments like perhaps your mentally ill, or broken, or you just don't see. but I'm an illusionist. mental arts are my forte'. I know a broken spirit, or a twisted mind, through magic or other means. I can't get him to accept it. There are times I think he wants to monster to be real."

A frown.

"He threw down a gauntlet that I have spent all day trying to do. He wanted to me to find a person that is not a tier'dal, that would claim and be able to defend the idea that the Malik from Kithcor is still dead, and the Malik here is a different person in the heart if not the body. I haven't found a single person that knows your husband that doesn't regard him in fearful tone, if they even speak of him. And I'm not entirely sure he'd take your testimony to the fact either."
