"Good. It's important to ignore the pain and continue going on. If you were in a battle and you were the leader, you wouldn't be able to stay behind. This is good practice. I assume you are going to take over your father's estate one day?" She cringed when she realized that it made her sound like she was checking things off on a list of potential mate characteristics even though it wasn't like that at all. "I can't believe your armor did that to you..." Dipping her head to hide a blush when he glanced down at himself, though why, she had no idea. "Padding is good. I don't think that purple needs to get any darker than that."

"But I love it when my strappingly sexy husband does it. I get to watch his butt flex and biceps bulge." Chuckling as she covertly pinched said nether regions and then rolled her eyes at her youngest daughter's whining. "We'll get you food in just a bit." Wrapping her arms gently around her neck in a hug and then walking wiht her like that so she could keep her close. "Good. That's just what I'm going to do."

In other words, no, no it didn't. "Umm...my parents maybe? Sevilin and Zahara Inthara. They knew my uncle before I was even born and Mama talks about him all the time. Malikhai could probably tell you stuff and maybe even Zykariel, my big brother. Other than that..." Chewing on her lip a moment and then grinning. "That blue lady you fought! She's been working for them for a long time. She taught my brother and would have taught me but Daddy decided illusions weren't my glass of wine." She got a faraway look in her eyes for a moment and then snapped back to attention. "'I'm sorry but that's all I can tell you. I really do have to go though. Maybe you could ask someone that I named and find out what you needed? I did the best I could." Giving her a childlike wave and then running over to Mykorian. "Come on, we gotta go. Daddy's calling."

"No you didn't. there's a difference between getting up in the night to take care of a child then staying up all night trying to get a hyperactive one to reverie."

there, nice and sound logic for him.

"Oh she did, did she? I have the urge to be a bad parent and go see what those two are up to. just for my own personal amusement if they are doing anything that someone might think 'unseemly'."

Onyx gave a slight grin.

"Well good for me then...in any rate, I'm going to get a few nice baths, and then go play merchant for a bit with these. if you need me, I'm sure I'll be pretty easy to find."

and off he went into the crowd
.

"I don't think she'd exactly want to talk to me."

though she did give a light smile and nod at the names listed off to her.

"hold on a second young lady. I believe he has a payment to receive before you go dragging him off."

digging around the saddlebags laying about.

"Ah, there it is."

And handing over a pretty nice sized bag of steel coin.

"there you go. now off with you, her dad is calling."

"Well...I'd say it's more about pain management as opposed to ignorance of it. Can get yourself into some real trouble that way. But yeah this is good practice." Thinking for a moment though over the prospect of taking over things. After all, he was technically a prince in his own right and he wasn't too sure that his father would give up reigns, though he was labeled as the heir to things. "I suppose so, after all that seems to be the way things would go, right?" Giving her a grin between bites of food as she seemed a tad astonished. "Armor's only good for keeping out the direct meeting of weapon and flesh, it can be quite brutal to its wearer, despite the protection it provides. Kind of why people prefer the leather or mail medium and light armors sometimes." And he was talking armor at a girl...which was a subject she probably wasn't interested in. "Well...I won't be able to avoid brusies tomorrow either, but maybe I will get off a little lighter. And then I can just lay around and not move for three days."

He gave a grin and took the bag with a thankful nod. "Thank you lady elf. I appreciate it." Tucking the bag into his own pack before letting Faatallon pull him off and again through crowds, she apparently knew where she was going which was kind of impressive to him. Then again he remembered being able to know where his parents were without thought. Called bonding or something. But soon enough they were joining the others of her family, save her older brother.

And cue one of those looks of his that said he was momentarily dumbfounded by her as she went on one of her little compliment tangets complete with actions. "If you say so." And when the crazy was winning, he didn't respond playfully back as he had learned to do through the years. "Well it's either go with the program or have you tie me down to a chair and force feed me...I decided to take the easy route this time." Turning a look over to his daughter who came up with her friend. "Everything in order?"

"You're still taking care of him regardless of sugar or not and he's going to get all upset later because he won't be able to drop off. It's bad enough he can't induce a reverie on his own and now there's sugar on top of it. I predict tears...and you know how much I hate to have my children cry for something they shouldn't have to cry for." Shaking her head lightly and giving a nod to Onyx, "The next time I see you better not be in another ten years or so!" Giving a light laugh and turning a look at her husband. "You mean a troublesome parent. We need to head back that way anyway, so you could indeed have your fun. But I doubt they're doing anything...blinking probably makes him hurt."
PostPosted: Wed Sep 26, 2007 10:49 am

"Then lets head there. besides, we'll need some time as well to pad his armor and get things prepared for jousting. After what we saw today, I'm not taking any chances with that elf."

and said elf was fuming in his room, having yet another arguement over things.

"he's a monster! don't try to play him off as anything else!"

"It's been centuries since you last saw him, and he has a wife and children! just because what you saw then and what I see now is different doesn't make my sight untrue!"

"You weren't there. you didn't see what he did."

"As you keep reminding me. But not once since then has the Mother forbid you travel in Her plane, not once has she rebuked you in any way for his apparent continued existance. So why is it you feel the She would be upset at you not killing him?"

"I did kill him. I don't know what power restored him but I killed him once and I will do it again. a creature like him has no right to live."

"and what of his children? or his wife? you think she'll stand by and let you kill him? she won't do that anymore than I would you."

"She'll be better off. obviously she's been tormented or twisted until her sense has left her. without him, she can be what she's supposed to be. a Fier'dal woman. not some Tier'dal pleasure toy."

"You assume that. I saw no signs of servitude or slavery."

"the collar around her neck then?"

"It's a choker necklace. a collar wouldn't have decoration like that."

"Or that's how it was designed to give that impression among these Ary'dal and humans. No Tier'dal keeps a woman like that without a means of control."

"Then what about his son? you said yourself that he was not his father. who do you think raised him?"

"His mother still has some morals is all. and he's done well by them. but that does not excuse his father. just because the son is better does not mean the father is redeemed."

"redemption comes in many forms, my husband. for some it is personal penance, for others it is life changing events, for some still it is a thing that only those that were wronged can grant. that doesn't mean you get to decide."

"I won't be dissuaded by the words of other Tier'dal or a young woman who knows little to anything about him."

"then I'll find someone who's words will sway you. if mine aren't enough alone for your quest. which they should be."

He didn't seem too sure about whether he was going to take over or not and she found that rather interesting. For someone who seemed to have everything at his fingertips, he didn't have a lot of say in much it seemed. "Do you really want to joust, Malikhai? I mean, I know that the only way to be tournament champion is to compete but do you personally really want to do it?" Rubbing her arms lightly for something to do as she waited for his answer. "It seems like a lot of sacrifice for a little bit of glory."

She was excited that he was paid and knew there was probably enough steel in that bag to sustain him for a good long time. Taking his arm, she led him back through the crowds and up to her family and gave a nod. "Everything's fine. Kariel's coming too. I saw him on the way over."

She gave a nod to her other daughter and her friend but didn't say much. Something was definitely wrong with Sevilin and that worried her. He should be teasing her or something but he hadn't. Ushering the kids into the tavern, she gestured for them to sit at a table, settling Kelligrin on her lap with a toy that he promptly took to banging on the table. "We'll eat down here and then head back up to the room." Bringing over a waitress she ordered jerheg fingers for her two youngest children, soup for her husband and a meat platter for herself and Faate then glanced at Mykorian. "What would you like, Mykorian. You can have anything you wish to on the menu."

Zykariel was indeed heading for the hotel but not to join his parents. He gave them a wave. "I'm going to see Malikhai. Eat without me, I'll get something later." Then it was up the stairs and over to the room, giving a knock and then grinning at Kaelin when she opened it. "You're still here." Stepping in, he chuckled at his friend. "My mother would be glad to see you just like that. How're you feeling?"
PostPosted: Wed Sep 26, 2007 8:03 pm

"I'll leave armor things to you...after all, you still deal with mine when I need you to." Smiling at him and adjusting her hold on their son before heading off with him. Oh why were tournaments always trying to break her down in various ways? "You think he'll purposefully be harder on him now in the joust...which by the way is more dangerous than swordplay in my opinon." Shaking her head lightly...he could reassure her all he wanted, but that didn't mean she was soothed about it and wouldn't worry. "If things aren't solved here...we're going to see him on our doorstep, aren't we Malik?"

And apparently Zahara was going to leave the cooking to someone else...though he had the suspicion that she had a bottle of spice stashed somewhere on her person. Reaching over he rested a hand on top of the banging toy and shook his head at his son. Banging not good. And thusly as Zahara ordered food and the like he studied Mykorian for a bit. Hm, not often did people get close as thus to the family. So what was special about this boy?

Mykorian was again stuck with food choosing decisions...he instinctively searched out the cheapest thing on the menu...which would be the soup he had for lunch and thus looked for something different that wasn't too much more expensive. "Um...I'll have the chicken sandwich. Yeah that's good, thanks." Chicken...well that was something he had always been fond of. Turning his look down to the table and trying not to be awkward.

"Yeah I do want to joust. I was the one who brought it up to may parents, originally they thought I would just be in sword." Shrugging his shoulders lightly though that got an unpleasant face and a cringe from him. Better not do that again. "It's not really about the glory really...more about proving things to myself. Even if it causes bodily injury." Taking to his food again as she went to answer the door, lo and behold his best friend popping back up. "Best patient your mother ever had, I stay put where I'm plopped down. She can thank Kaelin when she sees her again. But that aside, everything hurts and it feels like I have no bones." Yet said with that prideful tone, wasn't it?

She did in fact have various things to add to the food to make it taste that much better and the moment it all arrived, she grabbed for it. Seasoning his soup, she pushed it towards him and then tackled her own dinner and Faate's as well, then the chicken sandwich. Even the simplest of dishes could be made so much better. Sauce was dropped on the two finger plates and she pushed one to Lyssie and then took the other and cut it up before setting it in front of Kelligrin, replacing his toy with a sippy cup and pressing a kiss to the top of his head. "You notified your parents, Mykorian? Where do you live?"

Faate choked on her meat and coughed before taking a drink and watching Mykorian over the rim of her cup. She hated that he felt he had to lie about his parents being alive since her mother wasn't likely to drop it. As a mother herself, she worried about these things and always got upset when one of them disappeared without prior knowledge.

"Alright! Way to go, Khai!" Yes that was pride and encouragement in his voice. "You really pounded it down out there. I was impressed." He glanced at the huge trays of food and then grinned. "Are you having a party and forgot to invite me?"

"As long as you're sure. If you did choose to pull out would it reflect badly on you or would they understand?" Kaelin rolled her eyes at them. Boys, who could actually understand their mindsets. Only in their worlds would holding a stick and beating each other senseless actually garner praise. "No, that's dinner for the entire D'vinn family. Help yourself."
PostPosted: Wed Sep 26, 2007 8:56 pm

"He won't have to be. Malikhai's condition will be more than enough hardship in the joust I imagine. he's going to be sore and bruised all over I'm sure. and yes I know you think it more dangerous. but I've had some rules changed since last time. every lance now gets inspected before it's handed over on the field, so no switching out, no planning for things like what happened without some official knowing about it beforehand."

a slight shake of his head.

"I don't know. but with any luck, things will get resolved here. at least for the time being. but they may be living on this surface now or the like. You know..we haven't seen Isle or Kieran recently. think maybe we should take the family over to Andal for a visit?"

She was sitting out by wildfire, and petting the mare lovingly while considering whom she was going to need to convince to talk to her husband about these things. he won't trust the word of a Tier'dal. which negated virtually all of them. there had to be someone besides his wife. maybe. but if she had to, she'd take that woman to task on this. she didn't think either of them wanted one of those stubborn, bullheaded men of thiers to do something stupid.

See, he knew it. Whether that was a good thing or a bad thing was the detabale part but he really wasn't up for a debate anyway today so he let teh thought slip is mind and merely took to his food as it was pushed back over. Not eating because he was hungry, but eating because he knew Zahara would worry more if he didn't. Upset stomach seemed to be the lesser of two evils there. Though he did look over to Faate with a raised eyebrow as she choked. "Forget to chew?"

He was a little perplexed at first that she took his food and...did something to it...but decided to let it go since it seemed she was doing it to everyone else's food too and this was apparently a good thing. Picking up with sandwich he bit into it with a smile. Might as well enjoy what good food he could get while he was getting it. Worried look though to Faate as she choked and he assumed from the question her mother had asked him. "Yes they know. And I live here sometimes and I live on the surface sometimes. We kind of bounce back and forth as needed."

Wasn't it amusing the things that boys thought were prideful around each other? Yes his battery from being in such situations to his fellow males of his general age group thought that hurting all over and feeling like you had no bones was a plus. Boys. "You would probably be too busy with some girls to get the invitation anyway. Kaelin's doing just fine taking care of me by herself." Grinning lightly at the girl before a nod of his head. "Since I'm in the main tournament, it would kinda make me look weak if I pulled out of joust because I'm not feeling well. But at the same time, if my parent's pulled me they couldn't make me look bad on that account. Not an adult yet and the parents get that final non-reflective upon me, say."

"Good to know you've been at least a proactive tournament champion rather than lounging and reveling in your glory as one. Though you do tend to do tht from time to time." Giving a chuckle to that one before a light sigh...he was slightly avoiding the topic. It usually wasn't like him to avoid such things as this...perhaps it was his way of trying to keep the match away from the powder keg that was this stupid old grudge. Why couldn't that surface elf see that Malik wasn't what he used to be and why did he think he had the right to want to take her husband away from her and her children's father away from them, through the act of death? At least his wife seemed reasonable on it all and seemed to share her views on the stupid behavior. Or at least that was the impression of it all. As for his subject for distraction, she'd bite. "Do you think Dhairiss is old enough to go? Malikhai was five before we took him and he even had a bit of trouble still." Last thing she wanted to do was take care of a sick toddler the whole trip. I could always ask them if they want to come here..."
PostPosted: Thu Sep 27, 2007 6:47 pm

"True. but the sooner we can get him acclimated, probably the better. It is kind of rude of us to always be asking your parents and Isle to come here if they want to see their grandkids or nephews."

Before putting his hands in his pockets a bit.

"Rainmare Wyndrider is a Paladin. an elven one at that. he takes his oaths and vows quite seriously. While I may have distanced myself from Neriak and the traditions and such of the Lodge of the Dead, I imagine he still has very close ties to Felwithe's paladin guild. I can't tell you what will happen after this. He may think that his opportunity is gone till another Tournament, or he may try to stick around for the express purpose of doing what he came here to do. if he did, he probably would reside on the surface. The only person right now down here that has any sway on his mind is his wife, I imagine."

A slight smirk.

"In a way, he reminds me of your grandfather. if I recall correctly, he was a slightly aggressive but obstinate old badger that only his wife could calm as well."

"Not exactly rude...you know they love to come down here. Last I talked to Lharika for example, she was mentioning visiting." Turning at attention to him again rather from where they walked as he apparenlty felt that she was entitled to more than what he had given before. Sometimes she wasn't sure if bond fluxes made him spill, or if he just felt guilty after a while. Regardless of that, it was still nice to know information...even if she didn't like what she heard. "And where did all of that get grandfather Silvercrest? No one wants to be around him and can barely tolerate him. Not to mention that he gets to learn the hard way that things do indeed change and there's nothing he can do about it, hostile or not." Shaking her head lightly. "Thick skulled surface elves who can't see past their old days of lost glory and the like...Just don't do anything rash, okay A'mael?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 27, 2007 7:42 pm

She kicked her father under the table and hissed, "Daddy!" before going back to her food and eating a little slower this time. Last thing she needed was him pointing those kinds of things out. But she didn't like where this whole conversation was heading and merely studied her plate in silence.

"Well, that's nice. Best of both worlds, I suppose. I've never been really fond of the surface myself. The sun is just too hot and bright for me but you have an advantage over the rest of us." Taking another bite of her meal as she monitored Kelli to make sure he didn't choke. "Drink your milk, Faate, adn don't take such large bites." Thus going back to Mykorian. "What made you want to participate in the tournament?"

"Someone has to do it and it's better her than me. My mother is the healer, not me. I'd just hurt you more." He rolled his eyes. "Something about a female's touch. And I wasn't even with the girls. I was with a girl. A very special girl."

"Thank you." She beamed with pride over that compliment and reached over lightly squeezing his hand for a moment. "In all fairness you are a particularly good patient. Very little demanding and no whining at all. I'm quite impressed." She listened to what he said and then cocked her head. "Would you let them do that if you really weren't up to it? That other elf is going to be there again, isn't he?"

Of course he merely blinked at being kicked...such pains didn't register into his system especially when the crazy was winning. And his daughter was merely given a shrug, "Anyone would assume if you're choking that you haven't chewed enough." Or you had your hands wrapped around their throat....mental pause and kick. Don't think about that.

And she bought it...good. Thusly he tended to his food, but it seemed that she wasn't satisfied enough yet. "Because I'm pale? I'm darker than a lof of other surface elves up there but mom is dark so it makes sense." Was and did rather. But he was being careful about how he talked between bites. "I've been doing tournaments for about three years now. My parents thought it would be a good testing experience for me," My parents died and I needed to support myself. "Kinda neat to win something especially when people may not take you seriously," to earn something you could sell for a bit of steel.

"Let me guess...your horse right?" Giving his friend a grin and a chuckle on his own assumptions before sobering some again with a cough. Ew, he was starting to feel the discomfort on his insides now too. A smile that spoke that he was indeed weary even if he wasn't trying to show it. "Well, complaining really doesn't get you anything but other people being annoyed with you. Glad it impresses though." But another not. "Yeah he is...and my parents would only pull me if they really feel they should. I'd probably fuss, but when they make a decision it's pretty much how it's going to be."
PostPosted: Fri Sep 28, 2007 5:15 am

"now now, not all surface elves are bad, 'chev."

A slight chuckle at her, before a shrug.

"When have I ever done anything rash. I always think things through. it just appears rah because the course of action is the one you don't ever want me to consider taking, that's all."

Opening the inn door for her.

"And don't forget your going to get a good dinner in you as well. might clam your nerves a bit."

Had Faate's skin been lighter, she would have suffused with color. Since it wasn't, she merely kicked him again, this time harder. "Stop embarrassing me, Daddy!" Hissed under her breath. She would have shocked him runically but he might get really upset with her over that. "Mama, stop giving him the third degree."

"In a sense. Your paler skin can better take the heat and since you're used to being up there the sun doesn't affect you nearly as much. I remember the first time I ventured onto another plane's surface. I was coughing, sneezing, and choking for weeks. It was awful." She filed away that his mother was the drow which would mean his father was the surface elf and actually, to her, that made perfect sense. After all, most of their kind's males were like Sevilin in one degree or another and she figured it would probably be easier to be with a surface elf who didn't have a traumatic past to deal with. "And you fight honorably and fairly which means your parents instilled you with good values." Taking another bite. "Where were you born, Mykorian?" She frowned and shook her head. "I'm not, just making conversation and trying to find out more about him. Do you feel like you're being grilled?"

"The only lady for me," he agreed with a grin as he loaded his plate up for seconds and kicked back with his shoes on the table.

Kaelin promptly got up and knocked them off then found a rag and began scrubbing at the spot. "Goodness knows what you've got on the bottom of those shoes especially if you were just around living animals. Zykariel, the D'vinn's have to eat off of that table." She rolled her eyes and then settled back on the bed. "I think that's what most parents would do. If you weren't feeling up to it, would you ask them to go ahead and do that or are you bound and determined to compete?" She paused fo ra moment and then sighed, "I know it's really none of my business, but I was really worried about you today and if that other elf is competing again...what if he tries something and uses the fact that you are all bruised and battered against you and you get seriously hurt...?"
