LunaInverse Personally, I don't get why girls like guys with pierced tongues, either. But if that's what turns them on, more power to them. I think the piercing would just get in the way. That sweet tang of metal when I kiss someone? Yuck. You'd think so, but between my lip ring and Katrina's tongue stud, I can't say I've ever actually tasted metal. Then again I can't say that I've ever noticed a metallic taste from either my own lip ring or tongue stud. Granted Katrina usually tastes like menthol cigarettes...

Now the thing is that I don't get what girls find hot about guys with tongue piercings? I know very well what guys find hot about girls with them, but until she comes to visit next month, I have no idea what the attraction is. rofl Personally, I don't get why girls like guys with pierced tongues, either. But if that's what turns them on, more power to them. I think the piercing would just get in the way. That sweet tang of metal when I kiss someone? Yuck. I'll have to agree, I don't see the attraction to them. I mean, I don't mind tongue piercings in general, but I don't see how having some guy I'm dating have one would be an attraction. I think if Ed got one I'd smack him upside the head and try to figure out why. Good thing I know he never will. sweatdrop

RaeRae Rave I think smoking is the only thing that would make me turn down a guy no matter how great he is.
Won't get into reasoning though... don't mean to offend any of you who smoke... sweatdrop I thought the same way for a long time, until I met Katrina and I just couldn't let it become a deal breaker. We all of course have our different standards for different reasons. Of course it bears mentioning that Katrina's currently trying to quit, which she grudgingly admits is "for me," despite me never seriously suggesting or asking it.

Shoujo Phoenix Tongue piercings...bleh. Marni's sister's friend had one...and swallowed it. Like Mala, I'm no fan of piercings other than on the ears. Smoking would definitely be a deal-breaker too. Marni used to smoke before me...so I'm very pleased that she did quit. Bleh. Swallowed it? The topper or the barbell? gonk

RaeRae Rave teh CB RaeRae Rave ... *hides her nose stud* emo I like nose studs that look very subtle, but not huge nose rings. I could never pull off the stud, though XD;
With my face though, I kind of need a noticeable stud. I've got so much baby fat... sweatdrop
Anything small looks ridiculous.Septum piercings (nose ring, like right through the cartilage between your nostrils) are a hard look to pull off without looking like a farm animal.

Skizzors ..there are tongue RINGS? gonk Technically speaking, yes but they're rare to the point of obscurity. The vast majority of tongue piercings are done much too far back to be able to put a ring in, it's just the common vernacular.

TweedleKeys I also find facial piercings to be a might bit too distracting. I hate to stare and yet it really draws attention. I'm so ashamed of myself. At first it's just trying to determine that they have one. Then there are some people who tend to constantly play with their tongue barbell and that kind of grosses me out. Tiny lip and eyebrow hoops I can usually ignore unless they have extra shinies on them. Then I'm drawn to them and thinking how much it would hurt if they got caught. gonk A friend of mine in college had >10 piercings and I got used to it. I'm more used to nose studs because there's a decent number of people of Indian or Pakistani descent in the area who have them. One of my former coworkers got a nose stud when she got engaged. She was really attractive and some time later she posed for pictures in the company's marketing brochure. (You know, looking like she was working on something super advanced.) We stared at the picture trying to determine if those pictures were really taken so long ago or if they had airbrushed out her nose ring - I guess they wanted diversity but not -that- much diversity. rolleyes Ha ha, if we ever meet I am so wearing the blingiest jewelry for my piercings I can get. wink

I mean, since it's basically just a big hole in the tongue, what's to stop them from surprising someone by putting something like, say, a cinnamon stick in there instead? It'd certainly surprise whoever they were kissing. XD THE HOLE IS NOT THAT BIG.

You know what this guild lacks? We don't have a good, solid enemy. A scapegoat that we can vent any negative feelings on. Cynder just ******** isn't doing his job, and thus we must resort to such brutish nastiness as to debate levels of appropriateness and have our sacred opinions questioned in the vulgar court of opinion! Such brutishness! What befell the age of contentment and entropy? What vile curse could have so bedeviled us?!
I guess what I'm trying to say here is this:

Man it felt good to get that out. I'm looking around and I'm not seeing any stylish pice nez sunglasses or elegantly nerdy horn rimmed glasses. All I see is monacles, and some of them have gone and fallen into the champagne glasses again. There's an epidemic of SERIOUS BUSINESS up in here, folks. s**t got knocked sideways for a second and all of a ******** sudden everyone's in a defensive crouch.
I'm not going to pretend that I'm some kind of magical moderate mediator with no bias. Everyone knows where my loyalties lie, so get ready for the shock of the century kids; Stream's right. This particular incident wasn't camel back breaking worthy, but then the one that does never is. This was a running battle we all sat in on for months if not longer. Hell, I said many of the same exact things Stream said when I called Rachel out on the same behavior in the venting thread. My friend who teased me with the actual quote that I was getting laid for Christmas? A woman. Context changes everything, kids.
I'm a debater. Pretty ******** much all of us here have and still do strap on their brass knuckles and knock around the plebs out in the wilds of Gaia. It wasn't much more than a month ago that Stream, Kin, and I got together and completely immolated a rant-thread in AMC. I was involved in some of the bloodiest and most divisive debating ED-P ever saw, that got to and stayed barely within a razor's width from violating the TOS. I know vicious, personal debating when I see it, and there's no such thing going on in AG anywhere.
I will say this- that the last time the issue was brought up and Stream and I attempted to make our side of it understood, I backed out after Rachel baited me about my hiatus. At that point it just becomes silly to continue trying to make your case, especially given that- as the backlog bears out- I began my hiatus after a resolution between Cynder and I had been reached. I left when Aki accused me of being a ne'er do well. I bear no grudge for that incident, it happened and I thought it was best to simply withdraw rather than perpetuate any unneeded adversity. This is precisely what Stream has done, withdrawn in order to prevent an escalation despite the fact that he is the grieved party.
Anyone shouting at his back at this point has the perspective and maturity of a twelve year old child making faces at a silverback gorilla from behind a foot thick panel of bulletproof glass on a daytrip to the zoo.
This is not real drama. Nothing has been sundered that cannot be repaired. Stream has stepped back because he respects the institution of the AG enough not to bring the roof down around our ankles in a brilliantly wrought invasion, each consonant bristling with venomous barbs sending their unfortunate victims to a frothing, epileptic death likely involving the evacuation of the bowels in a rather undignified way.
Opinions exist to be challenged, this is a truth accepted by anyone with a shred of intellectual honesty. Debate need not be equated to adversity, but rather evolution and growth. I've debated vigorously both with and against all of the AGers I consider closest to me, and we all carry with us enough mutual respect not to take things personally when they ought not to, and to remain with a mind flexible enough to discard the chaff in our opinions and replace it with the wheat of dissent.
I've been called a lot of things by a lot of people in my time. I've been judged and mocked for my appearance, beliefs, ideologies, and just about anything else tied to me. I'm not sure if I've been called a terrorist yet, but if not why not give it a shot.
I have demands, and they will be met.
Shouj, Aki, Ed, Kin, and The Gator will return to the guild.
Grievances will be aired publicly and resolved together as any other problem brought to the attention of the AG would be. We've helped each other through sickness, suicide, abuse, break ups, money problems, death, and pretty much everything else life can throw at a human being. We sure as ******** hell can fix our collective.

I think at this point there are multiple grieved parties over multiple issues. Mistakes were made by everyone. This hasn't been all out personal attacking, but something more insidious and tricky to handle. I don't think any consensus, or even an agreement to disagree, has necessarily been reached on the issues you mention that I am privy to. There is a general lack of understanding all around at this point. This might be the way you talk to n00bs in the A/M/C but I don't really think using this tone, language or description towards people who are your guild-mates is really conducive to having an open discussion. :/ We want everyone to feel better at the end as we work towards a common goal. Making statements like that can shut down the conversation and gag certain people, especially when emotions are running high.
