"Oh I will be, you can bet on that though you do still have to joust tomorrow and my race is the day after. You can just wear long clothes and your armor if you're still embarrassed by then." He glanced down at the award and picked it up, checking it out for a moment then shook his head. "So is this yours or is this just something he left in here?"
"That's what I thought as well. You parents seemed...worried." Sort of. At least his mother did. "I don't understand why that challenge was thrown out to your father, though. The tournament was between you and the other elf, not he and Lord D'vinn."
"Did she?" Reaching out and bopping Faatallon on the head. "What did I tell you about that, young lady? You know you aren't supposed to use your energy that soon after a fight. Did you bleed?"
Faate winced lightly and rubbed at her head. "He really needed it. Daddy showed me the rune and I practiced it a few times..." Hanging her head for a moment. "Just my nose...but I didn't let it fall anywhere and I've got it right here." Pulling out the handkerchief and showing it to her.
"Good girl." Taking the linen from her, she tucked it away into her pocket. "I'm glad you're feeling better, Mykorian. No other problems with anything I hope? Although in the future I'd much rather you come see me if you have pains or anything. I or my husband are more equipped to handle anything you might need moreso than Faate." Though giving a smile to soothe him in case he was getting worried. "Did you enjoy watching the competitions?"

"Hey, don't go assuming I'd be embarassed. Though jousting will be highly interesting." A light cough, "That's mine...he conceeded the win to me apparently because he went overboard. Or at least that's what his wife said. Can you believe he wanted to use me to shine up his own honor after trashing mine?" Shaking his head with a sneer. But a look was turned to Kaelin again...she didn't seem worried, so he guessed that was a...good or bad thing...hell he didn't know anymore. "Apparently that guy has something against my father. It's not a pretty situation at all." Clenching his jaw a moment as he had shifted and made pain spike. "Well...still not fun for my pride that I yielded."
He winced as well. "Didn't mean to get you in trouble, sorry." Hand slipping from under Faate's and both of them fidgeting for a moment in his lap in his own nervousness. What if Zahara found out more about him? "No, just fine thank you. Sorry about the healing thing...it just kinda happened, and someone had bumped into me too and made it worse. I told her I didn't need it but she insisted." Little waery look though it did seem to let up at her attempt to soothe him with her smile. He missed that smile, it was the mom smile. "We didn't watch them really...we went and got some food at a tavern."

"Alright, I'll be embarrassed for you. Man, you look like a girl when you're all purpley like that." Giving a grin and a scoff, "You match my sister's eyes in a way. It's really not all that fun." He studied the award for a moment and then tossed it to the dirt. "Any respect I may have had for him has just been completely obliterated. So, when do you think you're going to be able to move again without wincing?"
"Regardless he shouldn't have used such a situation to try and evoke a fight out of one who was not scheduled to do so." Pausing a moment as she studied her hands. "You really had me going for a moment, especially when he was hacking and slashing and you just kept coming back at him. It wasn't a fair fight but you held your own well enough. You deserve that reward." Reaching down and picking it up then taking to dusting it off and cleaning it up in that way women had.
Lowering her voice so that her mother couldn't hear. "She didn't have her spoon so it didn't hurt at all, really." Then giving a nod and grin. "See? He needed it right then and Daddy was busy and I know I still shouldn't have but now you see why I did."
Zahara gave her daughter the look for a moment and then fixed her braids slightly. "Very well. I'll excuse you this time just don't do it again. It's not safe to push your limits like that." She watched the tournament overseers clean up the field and prepare it for the archery contest and then gave a nod. "You didn't miss anything worth seeing, just another elf looking to make himself the be all and end all. Malikhai took it pretty hard, Faate." Pausing a moment before glancing to the other boy, "Then you two probably aren't hungry yet. I don't think your sister is either and Kelligrin has likely been eating and drinking all day. We can hold off on dinner for a little while." Frowning for a moment and glancing back. "Did he say where he was going? Oh and Mykorian, make sure it's okay with whomever you're here with that you have dinner with us. I don't want anyone worrying." Forgetting momentarily any information she'd been given in the tent.

"I don't look like a girl. Careful, some people think that black is just a very dark purple, so I wouldn't speak too quick. And aren't you always raving about how purple eyes are better? Especially on you? You should be flattered I'm trying to take on the color." Smirking to his friend in that way that boys had. "He's old thought...it kind of makes sense, not that I'm making an excuse." But a softer smile to Kaelin as she seemed to think differently from his friend...and had seemed to be worried a little. "Sorry to worry you...but sometimes even if you're taking a beating and you're outmatched...you have to keep jumping back in. Rememberable men are not the victors to every battle, but the ones that did not give up." His grandfather had told him that one.
He blinked...she hit them with a spoon? Well that was new to him. Spoons he knew were for eating, not for hitting. Kind of puzzled him but he didn't think on it too long thereafter. But a startled look a moment before scrambling for his lie. "Oh! Right! I should go find a messenger to send a note home for me so mom and dad don't worry." Getting himself up and scrambling off down the stands a moment. "Promise I'll be back Faate!" First he would go see that woman surface elf and then he'd stall a little to pretend he was sending the message. Thus to the stables with him and to that horse, Wildfire. Most likely where he could find them or at least leave a note they were sure to get.
Sevilin had passed Mykorian on his way back up into the stands. Plopping next to his wife, a child being set on each knee he gave her a light smile. "I see you're back from healing land. He okay?" And then looking over to Faate. "Okay, so what with the little surface elf?"

Malik gave a grin to his wife and a kiss on her forehead.
"Lets get back to the other child. I'm sure Onyx has his hands full, unless you prefer to stay here and help manage your son."
before glancing at Zykariel.
"you'd best respect him. if not on a personal level, on a military one. Malikhai, I'll verify what the woman said, and we'll see about how that's going. and before you even start complaining, you're jousting armor is getting more padding and maybe heavier metal. you're injured enough, no point in making it worse."
before a glance at his wife.
"you competeing in archery?"
"It's an expression, just to make a nicer way to say someone might be hurt but thier going to get better without being to detailed or worrying to many people."

"Onyx could use some responsibility...but I'm willing to let the teenager play big and bad." Thusly lacing an arm around his waist and giving him a tug to pull him off, give the boy his bit of space for the moment. "Careful the look of distaste my maim you for that one A'mael...and as for archery...I was thinking on it. Have myself signed up if I want, and can withdraw when I want. Perk of being your wife and you champion I suppose. Then again I'm not in it for honors and the like. But at the same time...I had my fun in archery competition and there's just not a lot of competition. Besides...still brings back bad memories." Shaking her head with a sigh. "By the time this is over he's going to need new armor in general."
He indeed had rolled his eyes, but otherwise kept quiet. He knew it was for the best and inside, he appreciated it even if it didn't seem so on the outside. Tough guy act.
Another blink and a tilt of his head in the other direction, watching Onyx. "Does that mean Khai is hurt?" And thusly cue upset and worried look from the little elf. Triple colored eyes went watery in that threatening to cry look.

Zykariel rolled his eyes. "I respect those who earn it. Do something like what he did and you can kiss any respect goodbye. Good fighters without honor don't make heroes. They make SOBs that are better off dead." Strong opinions? He had opinionated parents, even if his dad's was more private. Shaking his head and then standing up. "You're more like my sister's eyes than mine which are more of a magenta-y color. It's amusing in a sense. But I should get back to my crew, they're likely going to make me babysit again. Catch you later, man. And if you need anything just let me know." He recognized certain signals from his own dealings with women. Thus vacating the healing area.
Kaelin held the trophy for a moment, takign to polishing it up and then handed it back over to him. "Many don't say it that way but it is true. That will be a memorable battle for a very long time." She studied her hands for a moment as Zykariel said his goodbyes and his father spoke to him, avoiding his gaze completely then glanced up. "He could have...killed you. Why didn't you yield when you knew for a fact he wasn't going to fight fairly? Not to say he cheated but he didn't have an honorable intent from the beginning."
Faate frowned as Mykorian pretty much lied to her mother and merely lifted her hand in a wave. She wasn't about to tell her mother that he didn't have any parents at all and cause her to dislike him. "Okay...I'll come find you when it's time to eat if you haven't found us already." Glancing at her parents as they reunited. "He's just a friend, Daddy. Sort of."
Without another child around to keep up an act, she let her shoulders sag slightly and the weariness she was feeling shone in her eyes. "I think so. He's beaten up pretty bad. Had to have far too many stitches for my piece of mind and he took some really hard hits. He basically was beaten up by his own armor but he'll live. He'll be bruised badly for jousting but like a stubborn boy he won't back out." Rolling her eyes to that and then beckoning Lyssie to sit in front of her as she started to fix her hair. Somehow the child had gotten her braids all messed up. "He's the boy Faate fought earlier. I healed him and she apparently healed him again with a rune you taught her." Raise of an eyebrow there. "But he's eating dinner with us and you have to be nice, Sevilin Inthara."

"well that'll make Broog and Tremor happy. and probably a few others as well that like to work on that sort of thing. But we need to make sure that things will go as they need to once this is all said and done. and if you keep complaining, I'll have the next tournament scheduled so all your Andal friends and your mother can compete with you."
Onyx gave a slight frown..hmm..what to say.
"Well, not really. he's probably a bit banged up, but they just want to make sure. and they don't want to make you upset if he's a bit hurt, that's all. everything is okay."
Rainmare was by his horse, brushing her down but not looking overly thrilled. he was not happy at all, and when the boy came over, he looked him up and down.
"you must be the young man that was delivering that note. if your here for your payment, I have it, and if you want further work, Wildfire here needs a good brush, and some feed. get that done, and you'll earn more."

And there went Zykariel...which was odd. Why would he up and leave like that. Well damn, now he had to look dependent on his parents to get back to his room...he already knew he wasn't going to be walking. Maybe he'd just get mom to call Serino. But his momentary stupor was broken as he realized that Kaelin hadn't left. Forcing a smile for her, he lifted a hand and took hold of one of hers, squeezing lightly in reassurance. "Sometimes, we have to fight for the things we care about. I was told by someone, that bravery does not come before battle, but in the midst of it. I fought to protect, not for prize...which all in all, my opponent did seem to respect in me. Do you think that foolish?"
"Sort of?" Placing and arm around his wife as she showed signs of her own fatigue, letting fingers rub lightly at her skin with a tad bit of energy transfer to her to perk her up a bit. "Boys will be boys, right? Tomorrow you can give him a booster if you think he needs it before he jousts." Giving a sigh of sorts. "Yes, I know. Dinner. And I'm not so bad as to pick on children...even if they are surface elves. Maybe." His parents could be up to something after all. Ah to be paranoid.
"Aw using your power as tournament champion, while you still have it, to make things more fun for me. Though mother probably wouldn't play...the dark gets in her eyes, remember?" Giving a little laugh as she remembered the excuse her mother had given her. "Thoughtful as it may be, I could go without ever seeing another wood elf again..." That fear of other surface elves was still there, more so for the particular breed since Kaden. "And I'm not complaining, I'm rationalizing."
"But mama said that he wasn't going to get hurt because tournament says so." Now he was confused...to him tournament was like playing make believe really. You simply didn't get hurt. Still to young to understand such concepts of injuries in that manner and the like.
Well...he didn't look pleasant, but at least Mykorian was expected. "Yes Sir, I did deliver it to her and she delivered it to her mother." Thusly going to fetch some feed for the horse and a stool as well. Plopping the standard feed bucket now full in the stall with the horse, he grabbed a spare brush and took to the unattended side of the horse, using the stool to boost his height. Would kill some time so he didn't come back suspiciously early.

She blinked down at it a moment and then gave a slight nod, rather surprised by his current tactic. "I believe that as well and no that's not foolish. I suppose that makes you one of the most brave here, then." Giving him a smile before she dropped her eyes again. "I suppose you're going to be spending the rest of the day in your room trying to recover, right? Do you need...help?" She was half afraid he'd act all big and bad and turn her off completely but she held her breath and waited.
Faate was slightly confused and she fidgeted for a moment before jumping up. "I forgot something in my...room? I'll be back in a bit. Don't worry." Called before slipping down to the end and then hopping off, though she almost tumbled she was trying to get down so fast. She was able to trace her own energy back to Mykorian since he still had runic traces on him from her healing earlier and popping up next to him, despite the fact he was working, she frowned. "You lied. You don't want them to know about your parents." Crossing her arms. "Why?"
"He still looks really bad which doesn't say much for the job I did on him but I wore myself and two other healers down trying to attend to him." The energy gave her enough to look interested when her son started babbling to her about his cup flying..which she half understood and then Lyssie asking questions as well. "I don't know if she's competing or not, Lyss. She was down near Malikhai when I left so I guess we'll just have to wait and see." Chuckling at Sevilin for a moment, she shook her head. "See, no grudges, Sev. And no big bad father act because he likes Faatallon. I don't think they like each other that way yet which is good because they just met."

"Fair enough. but still, if you want some competiton, it can be arranged to get you some."
A slight smirk.
"what do me 'for as long as I have it'. I could go out there and challenge whomever wins for the real right and after laying them in thr dirt I'll still be the champion."
Onyx scratched his head on that one.
"Well not hurt like really bad hurt. but you can get little hurts...like when you play with your toys, and you trip and fall. that hurts, don't it? but you weren't doing anything to get yourself hurt, it just happened. it's like that."
Rainmare looked up between the now present girl and the boy. well, this should be interesting.
"The note wasn't to get her mother. it was to request permission for the young lady here to speak in private with my wife. she has some questions that she wanted answered. not that it's likely to change anything."

"Brave or foolish, take your pick." Shrugging though that got a cringe out of him...okay, movement steadily becoming something that he wasn't enjoying. A slight laugh. "Zahara would beat me if I don't rest. She didn't say where, just rest in general. I'm terrible when I'm cooped up, personally." Well he was when it was an involuntary caging like now. But he had to joust tomorrow." A blink at her offer to help and how apprehensive she looked. Girls...couldn't decipher them. "Yeah I think so...Zykariel split on me and I honestly don't think my body works too well." And he was taking her offer why? Must be some girl thing he subconciously responded to.
Whoa, angry girl. Almost fell off his stool there. And he frowned at her, "Because they're grown ups and they'll want to try and make things better." Shaking his head and turning a frown on the other. "I was told to give it to her because there were some questions that her family could answer. If she didn't want it to go to her parents and just to Faatallon, she should of said so. She didn't even read it. But she's here now and knows now. I don't think anyone's looked at that note anyway." Shaking his head and glancing back to a now angry pre-teen he was faced with. "You lied to them too."
"You're never going to let me have fun playing protective father figure when it comes to boys, are you? Fine, stick together...your napkin rings are going to start disappearing again." Grinning to her, his momentary own self downward spiraling forgotten in the face of involvement and distraction by children. "And yet is the key word. He's a funny little surface elf on top of it all."
"Mama kisses it and makes it better or daddy pats it and makes it better." And yes it was that simple in his little two year old world. Parents made the little hurts disappear easily enough without any fuss. "He shouldn't be playing, daddy says tournament isn't a game."
"Ever accomodating. You sure you're not just trying to distract me from all my worries as of late? I think you are." Shaking her head lightly at her own conspiracy theories and smirking at him right back. "You can't be tournament champion forever you know. Someone's going to get the better of you one day or your're going to get too much for competition and step down because you're bored."

"She's right. You took a beating and you need to just take it easy." So he was going to admit that he did in fact need help. "I think he thought you didn't need his help and wanted to be left alone. Or maybe it had something to do with him badmouthing the elf, I'm not really sure." Pushing herself up from her chair, she walked over and held out a hand. "You'll have to help me get you where you need to go but it can be done."
"I didn't lie, I manipulated. There's a slight difference though not much and they're both wrong." She frowned for a moment and then tapped her foot. "Why would it be so bad if they wanted to make it better, Mykorian? Don't you want someone to care about you?" Her gaze moved over to the adult standing there and she frowned, "Questions? What kind of questions? I need to know before I answer anything." She'd been taught to be wary and that was surely going to come into play here.
"When a boy comes to the house to pick one of our daughters up then you can play big bad father figure. How does that sound? Or after you find out one of them has gotten intimate with a boy. Then you can threaten to break his arm off and beat him with it." She rested her head against his shoulder for a moment, reaching over and ruffling her son's hair. "Possibly because he's only half. He's half drow too."

"Well that's the point. the tournaments are...tough. you can get hurt easy if your not careful and not paying attention. so your parents wanted to make sure your brother's fine, that's all."
Okay, two year old questions were getting a bit complicated to answer without making him cry.
"Sure I can. I have all the time in the world to keep my title. If only on principal."
before a chuckle at his wife.
"Distracting you...hardly. I know better than that. you always get worse if I try to distract you. I'll let you distract yourself. Of course, if I'm your distraction, that works out well enough."
Rainmare glanced at her.
"I don't know, nor do I care to question her on it. What she wants with you is hers to know. she may be looking to offer advice, ask questions about your schooling. or she might want to know about your family, seeing as your mother is a healer. maybe she wants to know if she taught you anything or about your father."
Though he had a guess, and it had nothing to do with magic. and wouldn't change anything either.
"Though for my part the Underfoot is as uncouth and unenjoyable as ever. It has a taint to it that infects even the most devout spirit. and it's taint has tarnished my honor. however, I will redeem myself soon enough."

"Or he wanted to go see his school friends. He does that sometimes." Reaching up, he took her hand and braced with his other on the bench, pushing himself up with a cringe and grabbing a nearby support beam to hold onto so he didn't fall...okay, so felt like he didn't have any bones in his body. Not cool at all. "We're staying at the Blue Diamond...if I get to be too much trouble for you, I can always get my horse to take me." Nope, parents weren't that privilaged due to his ego, unless he was unconcious.
"That's the same thing because you lied to both of them. You lied more than I lied." Ah to be children fighting over frivilous things that you didn't really know were indeed frivilous. Back to brushing the horse. "Because better is not permanent and not everone wants to care." Shaking his head against her words before looking over to the surface elf. "You just don't know how it works down here. Know the rules and it's easy."
"Hey hey, you know we don't talk about that. As far as I'm concerned that doesn't exist." Shaking his head in that way he did when she was talking about subjects that he didn't find horribly relevant or didn't want to acknowledge. "More surface than drow if you ask me. And we're having him over to dinner because...we're good parents to our daughter and are indulging her?" Hell if he knew. He would of said no.
Processing, processsing, processing, blink. "Khai should be more careful." And yes it had then gone simple as that now hadn't it? Now it wasn't the tournament's fault his brother was hurt but his own brother's fault because he wasn't paying attention. Ah the simpleness of young children when it came to key words.
"Out of the titles you have on you; lord, general, prince...and you like tournament champion that much huh?" Giving a light laugh to that, if anything Malik knew how to not let her focus on bad things in the moment unless it was really neccessary. "Ah, so you've learned after all these years have you. Your boys teach you that?" Crossing her arms lightly, "Mhm, always looking out for yourself aren't you?"
