Jello: I completely forgot that most characters in the world of Gaia completely negate common sense and can survive being impaled, shot, stabbed, cut, decapitated, crushed, flattened, disembowled and a whole host of other things on the scale of realistic death inducing attacks.

Which is why I favour mostly human characters like my own, sure they have the magic and stuff that makes them slightly more powerful than your average every day human, but they die just as easily as one so I'd like to think they're balanced to a degree.

Back to random s**t: What on earth is a Cthulhu, Nihilistic? If it's Warhammer related then, well, excuse the question because that is something I know nothing about.

Jans: Those characters are great, just beef them up with armour and generally very high physical endurance, stamina and strength to make the best use of them. Or magical, whatever way the said character is leaning.

Nobody in particular: I pity da' foo'

Cthulhu isn't warhammer. It's a monster created by an early twenty-first century pulp fiction writer, H.P. Lovecraft.

Deity: May have to decline the fight as I've decided that Dagon is bad; though I would like to do another fight with you. Though I think not the crazy one, I want to test out a character I plan to use for what I hope will become a collection of short stories.

I don't consider those human.

Human is human. Human with magic is a mage. Human with powers is a meta-human. Human with 'inner energy' s**t is like... trancendant or something. I usually just lump them under 'human with powers' or whatever.

If they're anything more than human, then they're not really human, are they?

...I shall fully enjoy this fight. whee

Dagon: "I will crush your bones, human! mad "

Tiem: " surprised ... ... ... ...can I ride you?"

That is so out of character for Dagon. Hell, if the kid climbed on he probably could get a ride. It's that whole cosmic indifference and taking apathy to an entirely new level.

Gelmax
RAHR RAHR.. RAHR!

In advance: I love checking this topic only to see either you bitching, Shouyin trying to disprove something in one sentence, or Ertai bitching about how people won't bow to him and his dynasty. crying AND NOW, actual responses! Because while at this point, I've not fully read what you said yet, admittedly - I'm.. a.. BOUT to! ^-^

Gelmax
That's COMPLETELY untrue. Immunities are very common. For example, ghosts and other spirit beings. Most spirits are immune to conventional physical attacks.

Immunities are nonexistant. We only assume they are "immune". I've seen plenty of stories where a spirit whom a physical fist passes through, has an issue manifesting themself in that location, for example. And then, factor in the fact the melee attack may be reinforced by something else, and you've got.. nothing more than a conventional nigh-unpassable resistance to physical attacks. Not an immunity.

It's the equivalent of saying, a guy coated with fire is immune to fire itself. No, he is not unless specified on his internal structure, because if someone managed to light ablaze an open wound or gash - they may still be able to rise the inner, accustomed-to temperature of the organism, causing a disrupture in what most any living creature's body tries to maintain: homeostasis. While it probably won't hurt or kill said fire-coated being, it will still affect them. So, they're not really.. "immune" to the fire's affects, now are they? No. No they are not. Immune would mean they're literally.. not.. affected. Not hurt. Not wounded. Not disrupted, while we're at it.

Quote:
In other words, you think the way to victory is by exploiting weaknesses in the opponents' attacks? That's fine for most people in FFA, but occasionally you come up against someone who DOESN'T suck and get your a** handed to you. The trick to winning is to trick your opponents, playing along with them and hiding your abilities while charging for attacks until they grow frustrated and reveal an opening they didn't think you could exploit. Failing that, running away and crying seems to work pretty well in my experience.

No. The key to victory changes from situation to situation, I acknowledge that. domokun However, it doesn't matter how good you are; there's always the possibility of a flaw, a mistake, or an error in how your attack is performed. I've seen plenty of people here claiming to be "elite" at roleplaying whom had gaping holes in their assaults. Hell, I've even made a shitload of mistakes in how I have my character regularly attack that I'm trying to compensate for.

'Tricking' your opponent works well and good, but what if your opponent is merely allowing you to believe they're being fooled - then when it gets critical, crushes you in your mad-dash to crush them? The answer is: Nobody sucked. You got arrogant because you thought that your 'plan' or 'trick' would work without monitoring how your opponent's manipulated his character in response to your actions. And then, you're arrogant, and will eventually pay for your mistakes. Furthermore, save some exceptions, assuming someone's going to fail against you in a roleplay merely because they're not on 'your level' can very well cause your defeat as well - which, that belief seems to ring in most of your posts.

I'll admit, though: there are a handfull of times where the "wait and see" option does fail. In my own opinion, adaptation is the key to winning a decent roleplay battle; not "..HEY! Guess what? My character? A God from the 10th Realm of HEAVEN that I MADE, b***h-My attack is so powerful? SO ******** POWERFUL? I hit you with it ten times before you blink, and it's not considered time-modding. Why? Because I'm a GOD, b***h. GOOOOD. And my stamina can't falter after an attack - I won't even admit to BREATHING HARD. I'M GOD, ********, GOD!". Which I've unfortunately seen in this tournament.. often. crying

..

..Whether I win or lose? I instantly award Cleric Pei +10 Badass Points, and +2 :Flex: points for metaphorically anally raping Soulless Spider.

Not that I haven't had Ertai do it in a literal sense before, but.. this is better. domokun

"Mr. Madison. At no point during your rambling, incoherant responce were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul."

Billy: "...a simple 'no' would have covered it."

Am I gonna have to quote this a couple more times? xp

You fail to comprehend context, and because of that, you fail at your argument. :sigh: emo

That's really all their is to say about it. You're arguing a point that nobody cares about. Hell, the simple act of perception triggers a chemical change in a body, which disrupts what would otherwise be balance. However, there is never balance, and never homeostasis, because even in the most stable conditions a body will still react to the ever-present stimuli of both its own existence and the existence of conciousness.

The point being made is, however: "your attack does -1 to 0% damage to me, no matter HOW hard you hit". Taking a fire hose to a lake, for instance, is feeding the lake. Blast the ******** for a year, and despite that the surface may ripple and the water may foam, you're not hurting it any. At best it's a momentary disruption of the natural way of things.

Firstly: If nobody cares about it, than why did Gelmax even try to counter it, save.. because it amuses him, as does bleeding children in 3rd world countries? domokun

Secondly: There is homeostasis. It's not -perfect- balance, I agree, but there is a GENERAL balance, or we would be dead, sir. =P I'd be halfway tempted to quote your quote OF your quote of a Billy Madison whoredom, except I'd much rather quote some Happy Gilmore.

Quote:
It's.. all in the HIPS, it's all in the HIPS, it's irrelevent how much damage is dealt if the attack still affects you and can potentially open you up for other forms of attacks, it's all in the HIPS, it's..

If you are affected in a relevent, negative matter? Sorry. You're not immune. domokun But? You know what? I'll conceid defeat in this anyway. Lord knows, the last thing I want to do right now, is deal with another ten-hour long bitchfest from GEL...natica, until he signs off and the topic proceeds. ..I will say, I'm very sad I didn't get to face Soulless myself.

And why is there somethin' wrong with that? confused

I don't know Tacitus on a personal scale; but I've seen him roleplay. And he seems like a fairly intelligent guy. I would assume that he knows what he's doing.

Like I told you on AIM, Moo did it. If you have a problem with that, talk to him. You just don't like me cause I won't let you tell me what my own characters are capable of.

And thank you Victor, I'd hope I'm fairly intelligent, I'mma need it for something one of these days. Dunno what, but theres this odd tingling sensation at the base of my skull that tells me I will. XD
