Pretty good, I start school tomorrow too, gotta dig out a fresh notebook. My resolution this year is to go to class every day, but I've been so sick the last couple days....but I will take a DayQuil and get over it hehe

I'm a linguistics major at University of Florida =) It's fun and interesting but I have no idea what I'll do with it. XD I'm thinking about going into speech therapy like my dad's girlfriend fiancee, but I haven't been able to get into any communicative disorders classes recently. Fortunately my undergrad advisor is one of my professors this semester, so I can ask her about it. XD

linguistics... does that cover speech problems only, or could you also study say different dialects from different regions? What does one usually do with that major?

You can do a lot of things, there are many fields. You can do translations or interpreting, go into more of an anthropological field by studying how languages interact and make new ones (like migrations of peoples/their languages), document languages that are dying out (like writing down their language and grammar rules etc), speech therapy like I said, or go into neurolinguistics and study how language is stored and formed in the brain, working with people who have epilepsy (sometimes have problems with language) or aphasia (can't remember, like any words for nouns or something, usually has to do with head trauma and that sort of thing). Neurolinguistics is VERY cool but it's a little more science-oriented than I want to get into. XD
