"spinarak, don't shoot the web directly into the sand. Try to spiral it around the sand, hopfully the wind will help you along. Try it again." They both nodded and began once mroe. larvitar rose another cyclone which was aimed at the tree a few meters ahead. Spinarak Concentrated and shot another sting of silk, this time away from the cyclone. It curved inward a little, butjust ended up hitting the floor. Again and again they continued to train and time and again failed. Infact, every time they tried Spinarak seemed to be even more off target. "don't worry about it, maybe it's just impossible to do. We'll try again some other day. For now, try using poison sting while Larvitar runns around. Get ready."

"Well I'll be..." the woman said, moving closer so she could have a better look. "I'm afraid I don't recognize any of those," she said, shrugging her shoulders. "My eldest grandson, Vito, has all of the Hoenn Badges, and none of them looked like that."
"That's because these are Kanto gym badges," Kasiya explained. "I'm not from Hoenn. I was... visiting a friend in Lavaridge Town, and now I'm heading back home to Kanto. But first I have to get to Mauville so I can catch the train."
"Well now that makes sense." She scratched her chin, and nodded. "From what I can recall, you Kanto folk have no use for Rock Smash over there, do you?"
"Not that I know of," Kasiya admitted, blinking.
"Well that's a problem, isn't it?" the woman said, putting a finger to her lips.
"I guess so. How am I supposed to get by the rocks if I can't use Rock Smash?"
"It's very simple, honey. I, Vicky Winstrate, shall do it for you. With the help of my Meditite, here."
"Really? You will? Wow! Thanks so much!" Kasiya cried, nearly jumping up and down.
"Calm down, it isn't going to be that easy. First, we must battle. And then, I shall determine your worthiness."
"Battle? Well, I don't see why not," she reasoned. "But tell me something. Do you just wait here for people who need to pass?"
"Hah! No child, of course not. I went out for a morning walk, and we just happened to meet here by chance. Lucky for you it happened this way, or you might not have made it past here at all."
"Wait...if you passed here this morning, then shouldn't the rocks have already been cleared?" Kasiya asked, looking confused.
"Well, you'd think that. But in my experience, in this area, there are many Rock-type Pokemon. They all think that it's a great fun to block the path for travelers. I'm sure you've come across those skinny trees that just happen to be blocking your path before, and had to use HM01, or Cut, right?" At this, Kasiya nodded. "That's usually the work of some Grass-type Pokemon. They use their Growth ability to cause the trees to come back, even if you turn your back for one second."
"Wow, that explains so much," Kasiya said, feeling somewhat enlightened.
"That it does. But now, shall we battle? I, of course, shall use my faithful Meditite. What about you?"
Kasiya studied the Pokemon for a moment, trying to guess its type. She drew a blank, and finally pulled the Ultra Ball from her belt. "I think I'll go with Casimir," she said, enlarging it and then tossing it to reveal the Absol. "Ready when you are, Ms. Winstrate."

Mary-Anne frowned slightly a moment later, though it looked rather out of place on her features. Daemyn can't keep his cool very well, and when he loses his temper, it's kinda hard to get him to listen to me. . . Michael told me a long time ago that in quite a few cases, too strong emotions can override sense. She flashbacked to several years back, playing a scene quickly in her mind: A little girl, mad because all the boys in her town had called her gawky and insulted her parents (fossil-heads, or some other silly name), had began to torrentially use her fists as a way of answer, beating one black and blue. The others had joined in -- it was to her disadvantage, being outnumbered -- and there might've been trouble if Michael hadn't shown up then and broken it up. He gave her a gentle but good talking to right then and there, as he had always been quite a sensible, kind teen, then had her apologize to the boys, who sheepily apologized back for being mean (Michael had given them a suggestive look; although it wasn't mean, it made them feel guilty). After that, with Michael's reminders from time to time, she rarely lost her temper.
But at the time, both Pokemon were ticked off at each other and fought pretty viciously and recklessly. Half way through voicing out a command, Daemyn had already predicted what she would ask him to do and carried it out -- perhaps a little too relentlessly at times. No, Daemyn's not letting his anger cloud up his wits, so it's okay. But that Swablu's a sharp one, too. When Daemyn jumped up to pin Swablu to the ground, it met him with several blows with its white beak. However, as he fell back down the few feet, he sent a fire ball into the flying Pokemon in a bulls-eye.
Both Pokemon stood on the ground now, panting. The anger seemed to have half-faded from the Swablu by now, perhaps from exhaustion or from a forgiving (or forgetful) nature, but Daemyn still looked resentful. They can't keep this up without knocking each other out too much longer, M.A. thought.
Swablu must've figured that much as well, as it made one last dash towards Daemyn, growling softly as it did so. It disappeared, again, though -- "Daemyn, behind you, ember!"
The pup whipped his head around and sent a fast ball of fire at the Swablu behind him, who had tried to pull off Astonish again. It was the last, though, and the blue cotton bird Pokemon collapsed on the ground dizzily.
"M.A.! Throw the Pokeball now," the DayCare Man suddenly called out; she jumped, having forgotten that he was there.
"Right!" she said, more to herself than anyone. Pulling out one of her new Pokeballs, she reeled back and threw it accurately at the knocked out Pokemon. Her heart jumped into her throat, as she was so nervous from her first attempt at catching a Pokemon.

The Head Rocket raised an eyebrow questioningly at the Rocket Ball that now sat on his desk. "A Dugtrio? And it alone took out half the Silver Squadron?" He placed his hand on the ball and lifted it up. A smirk appeared on his face. Half the Squad? he repeated in his head, A Dugtrio this strong will certainly be difficult for those kids to handle.
"Thank you, Mai," he remarked. He pressed the button on the ball, shrinking it to its smaller size and clipped it onto his belt. Giovanni then lifted the red and white Pokeball that was on his desk and held it to her. "This is for you. Got it?" he dropped the ball into her lap and locked his fingers together. "I'm very pleased with you, Mai."

The red and white sphere bounced harmlessly off the fallen Swablu's cottony body before pulling it inside. The ball rocked back and forth on the ground for a moment or two, then it became still.

Finally, after what felt like an eon, the train slowed down into the Rustboro station. "Please stay seated until one short whistle is heard." the voice over the intercom said. Kilik was itching to stand up, his hands grasped around the straps of his backpack. There was a loud hiss from the train as it came to a complete stop. Another minute later, a short and rather sharp whistle was heard. Kilik stood, bolt upright, and was the first to the electronical door.
"C'mon, c'mon..." he growled, bouncing in his spot like an excited child. The door slid open and the boy walked out onto the platform and into the station itself. It was a lot like the station in Saffron; yellow seats, blue tile, plastic trees and that soft hum from the lightbulbs above. The trainer set out of the station and paused outside. He took his backpack off and set it on the ground, kneeling next to it. Zipping it open, Kilik took out the neatly folded bike and set that onto the ground beside his bag. A clink here, a chunk there, and the occasional squeak, the Mach Bike was unfolded and Kilik found it to be in perfect order. Pulling his bag onto his shoulders again, the boy threw a leg over the seat, sat down and began to peddle.
It was a lot like the trip from Cerulean to Saffron; breezy, quick, and the scenery became nothing but a mesh of green and yellow blurs. After he broke the Rustboro City limits, however, the yellow disappeared and became all greens. He peddled through the grass, declining offers for battles. Kilik squinted ahead; he could already see the beginnings of the Rusturf Tunnel. I'll go through there, go home, drop off Poppite and head back to Saffron for my Gym Battle! he thought.

Although exhausted from her earlier excursion, Mai's reflexes were still quite sharp, and she caught the ball as her boss dropped it. "Thank you, sir," she said again, nodding her head, unable to keep from smiling. Even though she was certain he'd never know it, Giovanni was the closest thing she'd ever had to a father, and his praise was the one thing she coveted most in the entire world. No title or rare Pokemon alike could have been a better reward than those very words he'd said to her.
I'm very pleased with you, Mai.
She rose then, still clutching the Pokeball in her hands. "I suppose I should excuse for the night," she said, her tiredness beginning to show. "Tomorrow, we will delve back into our research on the whereabouts of the remaining pieces of the relic." She saluted, turning towards the door. "Sleep well, Boss," she said, giving him one last smile before she exited the office, closing the solid, mahogany door behind her.

Kilik pushed through the grass that seemed to get caught in his wheels as they sped him along to the Rusturf tunnel. Even so, he occasionally had to stop for a breather and pull the grass out of the tires. The grass was a bit damp from either rain, the morning dew, or a Pokemon battle involving a Water-type. Kilik continued ahead, arriving at the Rusturf Tunnel's opening. He crossed his arms over his chest as he sat on his bike. From a distance, it would have made him look rather cool.

"An Absol, eh? My youngest grandson has one of those. Tough little thing. I expect no less from you, child, especially if you want to back up that whole 'you're not a rookie' story," Vicky smirked, although her eyes were laughing. Kasiya couldn't help but like her.
Kasiya looked over at Casimir, who was studying his opponent intently. "We'll do our best," she said, and the two trainers stepped back, taking their positions.
"That reminds me. What's your name?" Vicky called; making sure Meditite's headband was tied on properly.
"Oh yeah," Kasiya laughed. "My name's Kasiya. It's nice to meet you."
"Good, strong name. Now, shall we begin?"
Kasiya nodded, feeling the excitement of battle rushing through her body. Come on, Casimir, she thought. You told me you wanted to grow stronger with me, now prove it!

Vicky wasted no time in issuing an order to Meditite. It sat down on the ground, and folded its hands, deep in concentration as it used Meditate, upping its attack power. Kasiya tensed, wondering what tactics to use for this battle, but before she could say anything, Casimir had launched himself forward, striking the meditating Meditite with a Quick Attack.
"Casimir!" Kasiya yelled, her hands going to her mouth. "You're supposed to wait for my instructions!"
The Absol turned to glare at her, only to receive a flaming fist in the side of the head from the Meditite. It grinned broadly at Casimir, rearing back its fist as it crackled with electricity.
"Casimir, dodge it!" Kasiya called, and instantly, Casimir nimbly jumped backwards, narrowly avoiding the oncoming attack. "Thunder and Fire Punch?" Kasiya mused. "I wouldn't doubt it if that Pokemon knew Ice Punch too..." she trailed off, once again studying the Pokemon's limber body. "Casimir, Razor Wind!"
The Absol whipped his head back and forth, generating a windy cyclone that rose up from his feet. He took aim, and let it fly at the Meditite, who just smiled.

(( Hurrah~ n___n; ))
M.A. stared at the still Pokeball blankly, before stooping and picking it up. Did she really catch it? It was hard to believe. .
"Congratulations, miss," the DayCare Man called out, waving from the house's porch. "I do believe you'be caught your very first Pokemon." Mary-Anne could only grin in return, looking at the red and white orb in her hands with awe. A moment later, though, she released the Swablu again, who was floating weakly -- but contentedly -- before her. "Swaaaa," it chimed with that sweet, chirping voice, as it nuzzled M.A. affectionately.
"You're such a sweetie," M.A. laughed, holding the little blue Pokemon in her hands. As she glanced at the dirty wings, she recalled what the PokeDex had said about this Pokemon's love for clean things. "Let's get you cleaned up, huh? You too, Daemyn." The pup, however, looked moody for some reason; she couldn't tell what it was, though she saw that it wasn't the same indignant anger as before. M.A. wrinkled her brow with concern, but decided that perhaps a little food and break would do them all well. The DayCare Man was about to invite them to stay for a while, but was abruptly called in by his wife, as it appeared some other Pokemon was about to lay eggs. "Come by some other time!" he had said before rushing inside.
So, M.A., Daemyn, and the Swablu went to the crystal clear ponds nearby on the route. The Swablu, still un-nicknamed as of yet, cheerfully cleaned itself up, as M.A. gingerly washed Daemyn's cuts with a small towel; she was soon distracted from that activity, though, as the Swablu began to splash at her playfully. "Hey! You're getting me all wet!" M.A. giggled, splashing the bird Pokemon back. It chirped happily, shaking its cottony wings out and soaking the girl further. M.A. grinned, wrenching out the water from her shirt. "Oh, I've got the perfect name for you -- I'll name you Ulani, for 'cheerful.' Do you like it?" The Swablu bobbed up and down jauntily -- it was hard to tell that it had been knocked out just moments before, as it was so refreshed now after a bath. Now, she settled on M.A.'s head again and cuddled there for a bit before flying around to dry off fully.
At the corner of M.A.'s eye, she noted the look Daemyn gave her and Ulani, suddenly realizing what was going on in the puppy's head. "Aw, Daemyn, come here," she said softly, wrapping her arms around the tired Houndour. "Let's talk, hmm?" Swablu continued to flitter about in the sun, not having any intention to interrupt the conversation about to begin below.

Daemyn had been jealous, after all. . . Oh, I'm so mean, I didn't even notice! M.A. held the little puppy on her lap as she sat down on the verdant grass below, setting him up gently so that she could look into his face as she spoke. "I'm sorry for totally missing things sometmes, Buddy. . ." He didn't say anything, looking half guiltily, half resentfully aside. Mary-Anne sighed, carressing his black fur absent-miindedly. "But really, listen to me, Daemyn. No matter where we go, who we meet, who joins us, how long we stay together, you'll always have your special place with me, okay? Nothing'll touch that spot, I promise." The staying together part nipped her heart a bit as she once again remembered that Daemyn may leave her eventually, once they got to Johto. The pup looked up at her again, the hurt behind the anger fading away. "Even if I gotta share my attention more than when it was just you and me, I won't forget you, ever. How could I?" she smiled, holding his front paws in her hands.
Ulani swooped in then, landing on Daemyn's head amiably. The pup looked irked -- there goes that sweet little moment, M.A. thought, laughing inwardly -- and whipped his head around, trying to get her off. There wasn't resentment, anymore, though; just plain, every-day annoyance, the same kind you'd find between a brother and sister. Ulani squawked, alarmed, as she hung on for dear life as Daemyn ran about. The Swablu looked happy, though, and even Daemyn was hard-pressed to hide that toothy grin that persistently pried his jaws apart. It would be some time before he really would consider Ulani a trustable comrade and friend (although, being the friendly, playful critter she was, the Swablu had already taken to the amiably teasing the Houndour quite a bit), but his heart was far more open than it had been ever before.
You could never tell they were exhausted just ten minutes ago. . . Well, might as well use this time to make some fast Pokemon food. I'm sure Ulani's never tasted anything so good! M.A. thought to herself diabolically.

What made the situation a bit stranger was the fact that upon being hit the Caterpie shot out more of its sticky String shot entangling all three of the pokemon together. Soon all three of them were one large sticky white ball rolling around on the ground. Everyone who was watching the battle wasn't quite sure what to do. After a moment both of the Bug Catchers looked at eachother and shrugged. "How about we call it a draw and get our pokemon out of that mess?"
Toph feeling the struggle going inside of the sticky mess couldn't help but agree. Nodding to them she motioned to Edge who went forward and cut all the pokemon free with his large claws. Upon being freed Queeny jumped back still having long trails of string on her. Growling at the other two pokemon who were out as well all of them still ready for battle. "Queeny cut it out, we don't want to have to cut you out again." Toph ordered. Queeny simply gave her a glare befor trotting back to her strings still attached following her. Toph gave a look at the others befor turning and heading back on her way.

Mitsu was well on her way to Mauville once more after having recalled her faithful Pokemon. Her legs were beginning to ache now, but her heart jumped as a guilding came into site. The small sign on the front indicated that it was the Cycling Road. "Finally!" she gasped pulling the door open. "Welcome to the Cycling Road," the lady inside said after spotting her Mach Bike. Mitsu merely smiled pushing open another door and peering up at the road ahead.
Halfway though she was almost ready to collaspe, the sight of water below her didn't help. What if I fall? she though miserably. "I can't get off either can I?" she asked herself, unaware of the fact that she had spoken aloud. "Afraid not," a voice called out from behind her. It was another biker. She wore a blue helmet that matched her Mach Bike. Her brown air flowing from behind it. She had on a pair of goggles and the typical biker outfit that most of the other people on the Cycling Road seemed to be wearing. "How about a battle? Right here on Cycling Road?" she asked holding up a Pokeball. "How could I refuse?" Mitsu grinned glad to have a reason to stop peddling for the time being.
"I choose you Skiploom!" the girl called out releasing the green and red Pokemon.
It looks like a flying flower she thought sheepishly. Digging through her bag she took out her Pokedex, finally deciding to use the device for one. "Skiploom - It blossoms when the temperature rises above 64 degrees F. Because it's flower's blooming changes with the temperature, it is sometimes used as a thermometer," it droned out, the mechanical untone the voice held slightly irked Mitsu. Quickly scanning through the other information she found it's origin in Jhoto. "No wonder I didn't know what it is," she said to herself. "Well then. I'll have to go with Zyphyr!" The brown bird appeared. The ever so cocky Pidgeotto already glaring at the Pokemon before it.

Rin followed Miharu into the store glancing through the new items the store had put in the night before. "Looks like they have goggles now," she said fingering one of them. It was pale blue, just perfect for her outfit, but deciding against it she place it back. "Maybe I'll get a pair later." Looking around she spotted Miharu at the TMs and HMs rack. "Whatcha getting?" she asked.
