In far off bushes were some Ebonblades running off when KIa noticed them.

Kian was scared. "Why are they always after me?"  

[Duchess Marie]

"Maybe we better go back to the Shimmer tribe. We do not want to be out here if the Ebons are running around," suggested Loosan.  

[Reciter5613]

"It's the same. They just watch from a distance waiting for a good opportunity. Also I still don't know if they want to kidnap me or kill me."  

[Duchess Marie]

"You are a prince from your tribe. You would have ransom value," agreed Loosan.  

[Reciter5613]

"Maybe but....it still still feels like there's more to this."  

[Duchess Marie]

"You are really good at strategy. Perhaps they want you to work for them."  

[Reciter5613]

Kian paused. "I never considered that before."  

[Duchess Marie]

"Yeah," Kia agreed, "maybe they have heard about you and cannot have you helping the Shimmers, not to mention our tribe."  

[Reciter5613]

"Yeah. I heard that long ago when their best tactician was killed they've been more disorganized. They must be desperate if they want my held."  

[Duchess Marie]

"Must be it, then." Loosan said, "they lost their guy and need another one. You have natural talent. I do not see how they plan to turn you against your people."  

[Reciter5613]

"They won't. I'd never work with monsters like them. Also I heard rumors about their old tactician and he seemed to be the worst. I'm glad I never met him since he was killed when I was just born."  

[Duchess Marie]

"Yes, but you would not have been in their village anyway," said Kia.  

[Reciter5613]

"Yeah." Kian paused for a second. "But you know I feel.....weird when I mention that tactician whatever his name is. I just......."  

[Duchess Marie]

"Maybe because you do the same job," suggested Loosan. "Do not let it get to you. He is one of those Ebons and you are not."

"Maybe that's it. I mean I am nothing like those Ebonblades."
