From Announcemnt Forum:
The guild system has been rewritten to accomodate new feature development and compatibility with our current framework.
The guild system will be down primarily for data migration, which will be very similiar to the forum migration we had not too long ago.
When guilds comes back (shooting for Tuesday Sept 6) it will look mostly the same, but will work very differently on the back end. Once the rewrite is stable, I'll be working on new features and integrating guilds in to some of our other projects.
Guild system going down in approximately 1 hour. Make your final posts and find your way to the exit.

I am playing FFVIII cause I have only played it through once...although Soulreaver and Jak and Daxter are just *screaming* to be played...
