"Lil' Guy, Five! Peck now!" Ky ordered, holding up the training pads in front of his face. On the front of the pads were numbered circles placed in a random formation, meant to help increase awareness skill as well as accuracy. At first, Ky kept the pads still so that Little Guy could warm up, but now he ran with them, seeing if Little Guy could lead the target properly.
Little Guy hesitated a bit, studying the motion of the pads. Then, he sprang like a dart towards them. When he connected, Ky felt the pad recoil much farther than before. Ky smiled when he noticed the improvement, but made sure to keep at it so as not to lose Little Guy's momentum. "Now Peck Eight, now Peck One, now Peck Five again!" Thud thud thud! All of the attacks connected. Ky then quickly turned the pads around to see if Little Guy hit his marks. When he looked at the dents, Ky frowned a little in disappointment. The 5 was located in the center, which Little Guy hit dead on, but when he looked at the 1 and 8, which were both near the edge, he saw that they were avoided completely and instead replaced by the 7 and 3, much closer to the center. Ky looked at Little Guy with a sympathetic grin. "Looks like you're afraid of missing Little Guy."

"Let's go, Daemyn!" It's not a long ways away, so I'm sure he'd much rather like to walk with fresh air than just rest.
The Pokeball, popped up to regular size, released the Houndour in that familiar red light. Those berries the youngest Winstrate gal must've helped, as the pup looked in pretty good shape -- he might've been a bit tired still, but that was nothing a relaxing day couldn't cure. The battle hadn't been so hard on him, after all.
Glad to be out in the open, Daemyn looked up at his trainer curiously; there was a small, bluish-green botte in her hands, a label on one side with a medical red cross and some writing. At first, he felt a bit edgy -- he hated medicine, it usually tasted so horrible -- but was reassured when M.A. explained that it was for someone else. "We need to hurry, though; the baby Zigzagoon that needs it needs it a lot."
So they headed off in the direction of Verdanturf Town, having a general idea of where the DayCare Center was; it was in the middle or so of the route connecting Mauville and Verdanturf, so it wasn't a very long trip at all. As they walked swiftly along, Mary-Anne couldn't help but envy the trainers passing by on bikes -- there was a bicycle store nearby, she remembered -- not so much for the ease, but for the fact that if she had one, she would get there to the Zigzagoon so much quicker. But Nurse Joy had said there was enough time, and that they shouldn't break their necks rushing.
Soon, they were out of town and walking on the neat little road. Ponds, small fields, blue skies, Pokemon. . . it was pretty, M.A. thought to herself -- then again, she'd thought the same of all the other routes she'd been on thus far, save for the ashy one closest to her home.
As they passed by a group of dense trees, Daemyn suddenly barked alarmingly, and M.A. turned around with lightning speed (nearly knocking herself over again in the process). "What is it?" she asked, confused as she looked around. Nothing was the matter, it seemed. Daemyn, however, persisted until Mary-Anne began to notice a very slight weight on her head. Glancing up, the one direction she hadn't as of yet, she saw a blue bird-like Pokemon on her head. It had two feathers protruding from its head, beady, glittering eyes, a white beak, and most prominently, cotton wings.
M.A., in some wonderment, took out her orange PokeDex. "Swablu, the Cotton Bird Pokemon. It has light and fluffy wings that are like cottony clouds; it loves to make things clean with these wings. This Pokemon is not frightened of people. It lands on the heads of people and sits there like a cotton-fluff hat."
"Wow, a Swablu. It's great to meet 'cha, but we've really got to go somewhere, so, uh. . . Bye!" M.A. said bluntly with a small smile, beginning to jog in anxiety for the sick Pokemon ahead. Daemyn followed her by her side, giving the blue Pokemon a queer look before he turned tail. And, well, Swablu followed too, hovering behind them and singing quietly but cheerily to itself.

"Okay Ninjask," the boy said, rubbing his hands together. "Let's start things off with a Double Team!"
Kasiya, taking note of the strange Pokemon's name, quickly ordered Seto to use a Thunderbolt, assuming it was at least part Flying-type. As fast as Seto was, the Ninjask was that much faster as its body split into five, the Thunderbolt blasting harmlessly through one of the newly created clones.
"Hmm," Kasiya muttered, scratching her chin. "Speedy little thing." At the end of the first round, the Ninjask glowed with a bluish light, its Speed Boost ability jumping its untouchable speed even more.

Little Guy looked down, noticing his trainer's disappointment. "No, no! Little Guy! There's nothing wrong with it! Your strength has definitely increased from what I can tell, and you were still able to hit the numbers dead in the center!" Ky encouraged. "I just think that you're lacking a little self-confidence, that's all." Ky walked over, squated next to Little Guy, and started scratching the top of his head, being careful not to ruffle his feathers. Little Guy enjoyed this, closing its eyes and making a quiet cooing sound.
After doing that for a couple of minutes, Ky stood back up and retrieved the pads. "All right... I think we should just work on your power for now and then we'll take a rest when you're tired." Ky held up the pads in a more defensive-looking stance. "Give me all you've got Little Guy! Peck!" Ky yelled. And with that, Little Guy flew through the air, hitting one of the pads with wreckless force. "Again, Peck!" Another blow came, hitting the other pad ruthlessly. "Keep going, Peck!" As Little Guy kept ramming the pads, Ky thought up something that he needed to test.
"Little Guy, Leer!" Ky called out as he poked his head above the pads to stare at Little Guy. At first, Little Guy gave Ky a confused look, but seeing the seriousness in Ky's eyes, it turned into a glare. An unseen power burst from Little Guy's eyes and was absorbed by Ky. Ky could feel it travel through his whole body, making his arms quiver. "Peck again!" This time, when the blow came, his arms gave way much more than normal, almost losing his grip on the pads. After that, Ky just stood in wonderment. He never knew how potent Pokemon attacks were until now. Looking forward, he saw that even Little Guy noticed the sudden difference in Ky's defense. "Perfect," Ky said to himself. "This should up his confidence."

Before Kasiya could think of anything to tell Seto, the trainer had ordered Ninjask to use a Swords Dance. It hovered on the spot, slashing the air with its claws and spinning around, its body giving off a faint, red aura. Seto quickly countered with an ear-splitting screech, causing the Ninjask, and all of its clones, to shudder violently, the opposing trainer clamping his hands over his ears to block the noise. Kasiya had done the same, watching now as the Ninjask all released a silvery wind towards Seto, coming from many different directions. Seto jumped back, taking the attack head on but shook it off, quickly springing into a Faint Attack, connecting with two more of the copies. Now only two Ninjask remained.

Before long, a quaint little house before a large, fenced in property loomed into view. Mary-Anne smiled; it must be the Daycare Center, thank goodness. Slowing to a walk as she ascended the porch's step, she knocked without hesitating -- once, twice. Then, to wait; leaning back against the porch's wall, she could tip herself over just enough to see around the house and into the yard. Behind the wooden fence, there were Pokemon roaming about in a content manner; some napping, some playing, some cuddling up to another. . . The front door swung open before long, surprising the girl (who had already forgotten her purpose just then) and sending her tipping over further until she fell backwards, off the porch.
Daemyn bounced off after her, duly concerned, and the elderly man who answered the door ran out as well, but both were somewhat relieved to see a laughing Mary-Anne sprawled on the grass. "I'm sorry," she gasped, still smiling brightly; Daemyn looked a trifle annoyed that she should be so clumsy and have him have to "take care of her," but couldn't help but grin anyways -- his trainer could be such a goose.
A few minutes later, they were inside the house, and Mary-Anne had given the man Nurse Joy's medicine. "Thank you, very, very much," the DayCare Man said earnestly, before handing the bottle to his wife, who disappeared into the nursing room. "The little Zigzagoon most probably will be alright now, in an hour or so. . . Dear, tell your Swablu she doesn't need to clean the house for us, though it is kind," he grinned, twirking his head to a direction to Mary-Anne's back.
She started, "But I don't have a Swablu. . ." Turning around, she saw the same little Pokemon that had settled on her head previously, wiping the walls with its cottony wings. "Hey! You followed us here?" M.A. asked (though that was rather rhetorical), giggling at the thought. Why this Swablu had taken to them was beyond her, but it was uber cute. . .
"Well, she seems to like you. Maybe you ought to take it along with you?"
Mary-Anne's eyes widened and glowed with the prospect. "Could I? I mean, would you want to, Swablu?" The little blue Pokemon trilled and spun around joyously, but then started moving to the door. It glanced back, nudged the door, then nodded at M.A. and Daemyn.
"I think it wants a battle, first," the Daycare Man observed, standing up and grinning genially.

The trainer smirked, and pointed at Seto. The Ninjask - both of them - sped towards the Persian, and lashed out with a sharp claw, leaving a long, single mark across his shoulder blade. Seto snarled, jumping forward with an unerring Faint Attack, leaping right through the remaining clone and slashing with his claws. The Ninjask cried out in surprise as Seto's claws sunk into its soft body, shaking itself off and flying up, out of reach. It's speed continued to rise after each turn, now becoming somewhat redundant. It dived down for another attack, continuing to use Fury Cutter like it had the previous turn. Kasiya knew that as long as these attacks hit in succession, the power would continue to grow. She had to interrupt it and cause it to miss, at the very least. "Thunderbolt!" she cried, as Seto took another fierce blow to his chest, quickly recovering and launching the lightning bolt from point blank range. The attack scored a critical hit, Ninjask shrieking out in pain from the extra damage thanks to its disadvantage. Now looking quite shaken, the Ninjask wobbled in the air, looking unsure of attacking the Persian from up close again.

This time, it was the opposing trainer's turn to look shaken. He hesitated to give his Pokemon a command, while Kasiya stood tall, quickly issuing an order to Seto. A dark, glowing orb formed at the red gem set in his forehead, growing larger and larger. He let it fly, and it soared through the air and slammed into the Ninjask, knocking it out of the sky and sending it crashing into the ground.
"Oh, Ninjask..." the trainer ran over to his Pokemon, and recalled it. "Wow," was all he could say as he stood up to face Kasiya and Seto. The Persian had sat down, and was busy licking the wound across his shoulder. "I didn't think you'd be able to overcome Ninjask's speed."
"Sometimes too much of it is dangerous," Kasiya said simply, bending down to hug her victorious Pokemon. "But I will admit, I was kind of worried for a moment."
The two trainers exchanged the usual after-battle pleasantries, and soon, Kasiya, and a fairly tired Seto were heading south once more.

Inside of the forest it was rather cooler then it was outside of it. The soft grass and loomy soil felt good on Toph's feet as she walked in the large forest. All around her she could feel trees, pokemon scurring through the grass or spending time in the trees, she could feel all the life teaming around her. An uncharistic happy smile was on her face as she wondered through the forest. It was so peiceful and quiet in the forest. Deciding to take a seat down and enjoy her self for a moment she sat down next to a tree and leaned against it. Edge moved to stand next to her while Storm and Queeny played/trained. Storm was shooting Water Guns at Queeny who earlier had begged Toph to tie a band across her eye's like when she had battled Edge.
'Watching' her pokemon play Toph relaxed truely for the first time since leaving her parents house. She knew that she couldn't stay here long but she needed to get her first badge and get to either Saffron or Celedon in order to take the train. She was just about to push herself back up when she heard two people shouting. Curious she got up and started heading over, while she wasn't close enough then to see what was making all the sound she soon did come into range. It appeared to be two trainers who were having a pokemon battle. Both of them felt like they had pretty whimpy pokemon out, she snorted her distate at them and turned around in the direction she assumed the exit was befor a voice stopped her.
"What was that for?" One of the trainers from the battle asked.
"Yeah are you making fun of us?" The other asked.
Turning back again Toph gave them a look that would make even a grown man feel embarrised for doing something stupid. "Well duuuuh. I mean your pokemon are so puny that I could squash them with my foot. AHAHA!" She laughed at the end of her coment.

The two bug catcher's looked at each other and decided that their arguement of which was better, Catterpie or Weedle, would have to be put on hold. "Oh yeah!" THe both shouted at the same time.
"Let's show her how tough our bugs are!" The one with the Catterpie said determindly. His small Catterpie
"Yeah lets get her Weedle!" The other said ready for battle as his Weedle wiggled over.
"Queeny I think you can take these two on your own." She said with a smirk, after all total humiliation by a blind girl was an oppertunity she couldn't pass up. Queeny who had pulled off the mask over her eye's jumped into the battle eagerly ready for some action.
"Weedle use Poison Sting!"
"Catterpie String Shot!"
"Queeny use Scratch." Toph comanded back.
With all three attacks launched at once caused an interesting effect. As the Weedle launched itself at Queeny the String shot suddenly hit both of the pokemon tieing them together. Unfortunatly for the Weedle Queeny was the bigger one and kept moving towards the Catterpie to hit it with a somewhat strange Scratch attack.

Once outside again in the carressing sunlight, M.A. glanced down worriedly at the quiet puppy beside her. "You sure you're up to it? I mean, it hasn't been all that long since. . ." She cut off short when he returned her gaze reassuringly, a toothy grin plastered on his small face. There wasn't a much better anwer than that.
Well, then, we'll prove ourselves to you, Swablu! she thought to herself, smiling with a new confidence that she didn't have before this journey, before Daemyn lended her his trust, before she saw the powers of others and discovered her own strength, somewhere deep inside of her. The Swablu twittered amiably, its light body hovering up and down effortlessly as it waited for Daemyn to be ready. It wanted them to attack first, to show that they really intended to have a battle.
And they did. "Alright, Daemyn, ember!" The fire quickly collected with his mouth, sparks leaking out, then was suddenly unleashed upon the flying Pokemon above. He's gotten stronger! M.A. thought to herself, pleasantly surprised. The Swablu, though, was a pretty sharp Pokemon, and saw it coming before hand. It almost seemed to disappear, then showed up again behind Daemyn, nailing him in his rear. The Houndour yelped and flinched, surprised by the Astonish attack; but it wasn't very strong due to the type disadvantage. Still, it worked to get a pretty indignant and frustrated Houndour. The Swablu took advantage of his momentary flinch and landed a peck attack on his head, sweetly flying off again.
She's so. . . playful. . . M.A. thought, a sweatdrop appearing at the back of her head.
Daemyn launched another fiery shot at the Swablu, faster and stronger than the last due to his petty anger, and the blue Pokemon just couldn't move all the way out of its way quickly enough. The shot connected, singing one of its cotton wings. Swablu seemed to gasp -- not so much at the impact, since it wasn't full-on, but more at the fact that this puppy dare get her wing dirty! No, it was burnt and blackish! And so, she turned with vengeful eyes towards Daemyn. They both fumed at each other, so heatedly that M.A. could almost see flames.
Mary-Anne sweatdropped further. Wow, this feels like a fight between two kids in first grade. . .

When Ky told Little Guy to go all out, Little Guy took it to heart. Over and over again, the Tiny Bird Pokemon smashed into the pads with its beak, causing Ky to step backwards every once in a while when his balance was lost. Ky had told Little Guy to use Leer for the second time, but now he was regretting it. His fatigue was growing very quickly because of it and he'd be embarassed if he had to stop Little Guy before he was done. Luckily though, Ky held his ground long enough to see Little Guy collapse from its effort, panting. "He must have attacked me more than 20, maybe even 30 times," Ky said smiling and also breathing heavily from the work out. He walked over to Little Guy, took out his Pokeball, and called him back. Before Little Guy was engulfed by the red light, Ky saw the hint of him smiling from a job well done. "Time to go to the PokeCenter," Ky said. And with that, he headed off slowly in the direction of Violet City, arms hanging almost limp at his side, dragging the training pads with him.

They hadn't been on the road long when Seto practically collapsed, the effects of the earlier battle now beginning to show. Kasiya recalled him into his Pokeball and after careful thought, unfolded her Acro Bike and carefully mounted it. The scenery raced by, the wind blowing through her hair. It was a wonderful feeling, and Kasiya suddenly wondered why she hadn't thought of riding to Mauville in the first place. From her current position, she could see Mauville in the distance, and she pushed on, glad to almost be back in civilization. Her enthusiasm, however, was suddenly crushed and she was forced to come to a stop.
A wall of large boulders blocked her path, and she could see no way around them. Feeling utterly defeated, Kasiya shoved her bike to the ground and sat on a rock, looking up at the wall of rocks in disgust. "I'll never get there now," she sighed, hanging her head. "How on earth am I supposed to get past these rocks?"
"The answer to that, my dear, is elementary."

Kasiya looked up, startled, a few tears already making their way down her cheeks. "Huh?" She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand in time to see an elderly woman walking towards her. A peculiar Pokemon walked beside her, its hands folded neatly in front of it.
"I said, 'The answer to that, my dear, is elementary.' Understand now?" she woman smiled. She had beautiful, warm brown eyes that radiated both kindness and boundless wisdom, and many laugh lines. A headband was tied around her forehead, the Pokemon with her sporting the same accessory. She wore a martial arts-style uniform, and wooden sandal on otherwise bare feet.
"Uh, yeah. I mean, no, not really," Kasiya said sheepishly, standing up.
The woman laughed. "I guess I should have explained it better, then." She cleared her throat, and gestured towards the rocks. "You can't get past them. Correct?"
Kasiya nodded. "Well, yeah. At least I don't know how to get past them."
"I see. So you're a rookie trainer, then, aren't you?"
"Uh, well, no. Not exactly," Kasiya said, scratching her head.
"Oh relax. Every trainer has to start out as a rookie at some time." The woman put her hands on her hips, still smiling the whole time.
"I'm not a rookie!" Kasiya said defensively. "Look. I have four badges. Four!" She opened her vest to reveal the row of shining badges. "Not a rookie," she repeated.

"Alright Larvitar, it's your turn. I say we need to work on your sync with Spinarak. The key to a goo dbouble battle is good combinations. Spinrak, jump onto Larvitar's headand wait for my signal." Spinarak jumped up onto Larvitar's haed and Larvitar jumped forward. "Alright, Larvitar, use Sand Storm on that tree! Spinarak, try and hold on!" Larvitar nodded and began to conjur up a sand storm. The cyclone whipped around and spun violently as Spinarak did it's best to stay in place as the stinging sand dealt it minimal damage. Larvitar began to direct it at the tree when Crenu yelled out. "Now Spinarak, Use Stringshot, follow the Sandstorm!" Spinarak winced a little, then shot silk at the cyclone. it began to spin with the sand, but became torn up within seconds. The sandstrm died down and they were ready t try again.
