Honestly, I wouldn't consider daemons the Word Bearers' strength, but rather the nine troops choices. As an aside, I hate daemons. CSMs are a better value overall, much more fun to convert, and I can have nine squads of them.

Eventually, I'll pick some daemons up once I can convert some models for them that aren't horrid. wink

Chaos marines are good, but I love close combat. Also, having five guys on the field one turn then 30 the next is really cool.

However I woujldnt say marines are slouches in close combat. Not too mention the sheer novelty of this force. And not having to fear instability tests.

Totally Word Bearers. I love the fluff.

As I mentioned, this is first time I've been excited to actually construct the basic troops of a force. My basic Ork boyz are just something I'm required to make so I can field ridiculously awesome Orkish warmachines of wanton destruction. But I have an extensive conversion plan for these Bearers.

They'll also have a companion Word Bearer LatD army consisting primarily of "corrupted" Inquisition models. wink

Van Evok
the difference is demon prince as a counter assault unit razz
Demon princes are firemagnets. I had one, and gave it demonic flight to pull the right counter, but even then, I only ever used it to mop up, not counter

he cant be shot in close combat, and he can use terrain to block incoming fire (and vehicles too), and his mere presenc sometimes stop assaulters from closing
But when it is free, fire magnet. Besides, after you give em demonic stature, you lose alot of useful gear. I mean hell, a Chaos termi lord with chainfist, combi bolter, and servo arm,

I always thought Sisters Repentia would make awesome mutants in a LatD army. That or flagelants.

Excel? The only Microsoft program I use is Word.
Anyways Im not sure what youre going for, but I always thought itd be fun to do a zealous LatD army that looked holier than imperial ones. Have Possessed marines with Flight that are modeled with angel wings. Lots of DA robes on the HQ marines. Flagelants and Sisters Repentia for mutants, etc. Im assuming you were on the same track?

CSM are without any doubt the most versatile army out there. Any tactic you want to try can be suited to, often without needing to buy more models.

Personally, I favor using excessive firepower to vaporize everything within 48 inches. There's something satisfying about packing 16 lascannons into one army.

He might also be considering Oblits, particularly of the Iron Warriors variety.

Between Oblits, Havocs, A Land Raider, and a pair of Predators, I'm well stocked for flashlight-induced death.

Still saving my pennies to mount a Basilisk in my army. I really do need mor Area Effect damage for those troublesome IG matchups.

Yeah, but the good thing is you can pretty much take out the tanks.

Tanks? What tanks? Oh, those nice piles of molten metal? Those tanks? twisted

Fear my angry flashlights.

I've heard a lot of Chaos armies have a tough time with 'nids. Anyone able to comment on this?

Although that I don't have much experience under my belt, I would think that a ranged slaneeshi army with sonic weaponry and the nice area affects subwoofers would do nicely.
