Hehe, still no help yet sweatdrop i could have sworn I posted.... er are those the ones that are fingered as low E, F and G [with ALL fingers down] ? well I think it can apply to both octaves, whichever it was, anyways I would suggest loosening the jaw a bit, having firm side muscles and opening up the throat, also to be sude to have a steady stream of air, another way of helping is moving yourself down a bit when you play the notes, it helps. Either that or longtones D <3

amanda234254 interesting.....why won't you go with him? Because I hate his guts. Even though he seems to like me. domokun He was supposed to have graduated last year. stare And he follows me around borderlining on stalking. scream He's the stereotypical Texan-accent and everything. Which I wouldn't mind so much if he discovered the wonders of cologne/deodorant. xp Don't get me wrong. I heart bass clarinets. But this one is the bane of my existence. domokun

Mangolyn *waves tentatively* So, erm....how do you feel about bass clarinetists here? I love the bass clarinet!! My friend plays both bass clarinet and contra [THE CONTRA IS SOOO COOL <3333] well, I've decided to do Mozart's Clarinet Concerto for the solo thiny majigger, sadly my teacher has a 3 1/2 hour dress rehearsal for the opera Carmen by Bizet [surprisingly, I never heard it, but I have played Bizet's 'Carillon']
YAY! Wind Ensemble rehearsal today!! After that its a meeting with my future high school and about their new academy for the performing arts <3. Mr. Acciani wants the other middle schools parents to come in and hear us playing and say, "My kids should've gone to South Pointe!" rofl

Riku_Cloud224 amanda234254 Riku_Cloud224 I need to learn how to tounge notes, though.... I NEVER LEARNED HOW! crying crying crying crying no offense but thats really sad scream DON'T DISS ME!!! I'm one of the best...kukuku.... I honestly don't find it sad that you can't tongue, when I was in sixth grade I used air to tongue, I didn't know how to. It was rather horrible in my middle school--not trying to be conceited--, I mean invited to carnegie hall 3 times? Winning first place in a high school festival [the harrowgate festival] in Europe? over 40 people in honor groups? That was HORRIBLE. then I got an epiphany in the middle of the year, later on my second and current teacher smoothed things a year ago when I was in seventh grade, tonguing exercises are a good way to help heart . I still have problems with starting my first note very nicely though. now here are some of the things I can remember: steps: A steady stream of air. B play a note C move the tongue slowly, keeping the air going until the tongue touches the reed AND the vibration stops. Do it a couple times, but how ever much pressure you put is how much pressure you should put while tonguing
now, books always say tip of the tongue, its not completely true, some people touch the reed closer to the middle, and somehow those people tongue faster and better [or so my teacher says, I believe him though, he tongues real fast too biggrin ]
thats the fundamentals of tonguing, I would suggest doing tonguing exercises if you want I can make a recording of it. But I shall tell you the exercise:
pick any scale you are most comfortable with [i'd do concert Bb], start at tempo 45, its rather slow, I thought so too but it helps alot. Platy four quarter notes for each pitch, then two quarters, then four eighth notes, then one triplet, then four sixteenthsthen sextuplets and i 32nds
though I don't know if its all guaranteed to help, I still can't tongue fast, the fastest I can tongue is about tempo 100 in sixteenths. I'm only in eighth grade too gonk soo yeah

Anyways yeah, I thought that it would be like the sax, moving your mouth farther on the mouthpiece to produce higher notes. Is it the same for the clarinet?
