I've had a headache all day... are you sure you're speaking to the right person? I can find whoever you want to talk to, if you just tell me who you are. I'll look everywhere to find a trace of who you are - or were - and do my best to help you.

Nathan didn't understand why he needed to help, why this specific person had reached him when he hadn't cared in... he winced: that thought hurt, but it was gone in seconds. It didn't make sense, whatever he'd been about to think. He'd always cared.
My head hurts...want to help...owww...

The Angel didn't move for several minutes, straining to try and connect again. Once he realised that he couldn't, his whole body started to hurt: his head felt like it was splitting, everything ached all over. When those aches went away, he found he couldn't move his body because the pain had reached a level that meant one single twitch would kill him. He couldn't even scream, though if he could just touch Mao or Yoru - not that he knew Yoru existed at this point - then he would feel some measure of relief.
His mind was shut down as well, so telepathy was impossible.

Though Yoru had distanced himself from Nathan's reach he could still feel when the other was in danger. Though dead he was still connected to the other by the collar that always stayed around his neck. He came back and entered Nathan's body. This was similar to a possession however Yoru had no intention of taking control of Nathan. He simply had Nathan's spirit disconnect from the points where the pain was originating and instead link himself to those points. Once he had taken the blow of all the pressure that had built up inside the other he left the body and vanished once more. That was all he could do for the other.

Nathan felt as though he was asleep once the pain had gone. But his mind had woken up the instant Yoru touched it, and now a part of it was linked up to Yoru.
As he was asleep, it was easy to open that part and let his thoughts flow towards Yoru. Of course, if Yoru was gone, then he'd link to Mao and know nothing when he woke up.
'Wait! Who are you? Talk to me, please!'

Yoru could hear Nathan's voice clearly but he would not answer the other's question. Instead he would give him a response that would hopefully calm the other for the time being. "I am no one important. I am a sinner who simply wishes to have his sins forgiven by watching over you."

Before he could finish his thought though, he found that he was waking up slowly, slipping away from the connection. 'Please... tell me...'
He frowned, a name drifting into his mind. 'Are you... Yoru?'
Abruptly, the connection was broken and he woke up properly, tears on his face.

Mao had only just woken up. He got up and went to go check on Nathan when he found hi with tears streaming down his cheeks. "Hey... What happened? Did you have some sort of nightmare or something?" He moved to his side and held him close in an attempt to comfort him.

"I couldn't help him. I don't know his name, where he's f-from... who he wants to contact. B-but he wouldn't t-tell me! For all I know, he lives miles awaaayy!" Nathan sobbed, shaking his head as he clung to Mao. "I'll be ok in a minute: I'll check newspapers and f-find out where he came from. I-I think he was m-married or something."
The Angel curled up into Mao's body, clinging fast. He didn't want to let go, and didn't know that what he'd said might have aroused Mao's suspicions. "C-could even have b-been a woman - I just don't know! I'm not t-trained enough yet!"

"Don't worry about it. If it's someone who needs help they'll come back to find you or they'll go look for another angel. You can worry too much about these things. I've even heard that sometimes even malicious spirits do this to do these sorts of things to attack others. Just forget about that for now. You're not trained yet anyway."
Mao did hold the suspicion that it could have been Yoru trying to contact Nathan, but he had no evidence. And no evidence meant no reason to worry for now. He would only keep a close eye on Nathan.

Nathan nodded. "I just feel bad for him..." he whispered, nuzzling Mao's chest as he burrowed closer. "But I won't worry too much because I need to be healthy for you..."
