Kai nodded and started walking back to the inn with her.
Yami took to the sky again.

Rajei clung to Kai's arm as they walked back. Her spell was starting to drain her.

Kai led her back into the inn again. He closed the door, "There. Now we're safe again," He said.

"I'm glad," Rajei said. She let go of his hand and collapsed onto the bed. Her breathing seemed a bit labored, but it wasn't too bad.

Kai made sure the walls were still soundproofed before he spoke again, "You can transform back now and rest. You're safe here."

Rajei nodded and began to transform back. She barely stopped at her normal human form before becoming a kyuubi. She curled up on the bed, borderline unconscious. Rajei knew this form would help her recover faster.

Rajei slightly shook her head. She was fine.

Kai nodded and lay down next to her. He continued to pet her fur. He found that most animals liked it when they were petted.

Rajei snuggled closer to Kai and curled up, using her seven tails as a pillow.

Kai chuckled and gently moved her so that they could share body heat. He knew cats liked this, but didn't know if this little one did. He then settled down for the night, looking at the sleeping Kyuubi in wonder. If it were anyone else he wouldn't have bothered with them. Why this one? Rajei made him stand up for something. She made him feel needed. And he started to feel like he couldn't live without her anymore.

Rajei curled up close to him. She liked being so close to her master. She could sense some of his emotions, but couldn't identify them. Whatever they were, though, they comforted her. As she slept, two faint golden outlines of tails like hers appeared with the rest of her tails.

Kai smiled sadly when he saw that. He thought she should have more tails, "I promise those will be the only ones gone," He whispered to her and petted her again. He soon fell asleep.

The outlines gradually disappeared as Rajei fell deeper into sleep.
