[Dill] I want word bump back. I will be honest, it was the only game I actually enjoyed playing. And the OMG boxes? I honestly think the idea would have been an awesome gold sink instead of... a money trap. Also, I'm 6th in the arena right now. -fist pump- same! also it seems like they slacked off on the random events. they seem to be mostly gone now. my bf and i love playing word bump together. we love word seek games. crying

Skizzors Streamjumper Because it is rather insulting to reduce an entire nation with quite a history to nothing but its cartoons. That'd be like if I told you I was coming over to dinner just because your mom makes good mashed potatoes... not because I like the potatoes but will also enjoy the turkey, dessert, and the company of you and your parents. It also shows that these fans grossly overestimate the whole of Japan's involvement in anime. Spending that much money and effort to visit a country just to watch raw shows, buy swag, and possibly hit a maid cafe or two is kinda stupid. Lastly, the majority of the people saying they're going to Japan because they like anime don't mean a vacation or a visit... they generally (in more than just my experience) openly state that they're going there to get a job in the manga or anime industries... with no formal schooling, no contacts, and no reason whatsoever as to why they should be hired. They'll end up poor, homeless, and picked up by the Japanese police the instant any signs or rumors of criminal activity pop up in their vicinity. It is fine to go to another country chiefly to pursue one of your interests... but to reduce that country to "the place where something I like happens" and froth at the brain about it... that's where one has to accept scorn. Well, of course it's silly to only consider Japan "the place with the anime" and completely ignore its other qualities. Even if you don't take out any time in your trip to visit shrines and stuff you shouldn't just pigeonhole the entire country into Magic Cartoonland. But you also shouldn't have an obligation to learn about all the history and culture if your only genuine interest there is tramping around Akihabara. But.. there's just SUCH a major reaction from some fans now -- when you mention even in passing "oh, I might like to visit Japan someday" you're almost guaranteed a small horde of fans will get on your a** for even considering to explore your interest in anime somewhere other than your computer. Please don't mistake the "intelligent" regs for real humans. For one, people don't have addresses like "under the bridge over marting's creek".

I don't really know if I'm active enough here to be in the chat, sooo... Sorry.
Word seeking games are fun! I got up to the late 80's one time. I wish they'd bring it back so I could at least use my credits. @_@

To AG members, don't ask about the Bobo thing unless you all would like to face my axe. xp Oh, Stream just reminded me of something. Next week, I'm leaving for China and Japan. Going to China for about 11 days and Japan for about 5. I promise to take pictures. xp

Okay, so since I'm the resident ex-AMCer turned Q&Fer turned GCDer, I might as well bite this subject. to pick a flower Kinetic Dream There's a valid reason for it. Any number of them actually. But I'd hate myself for spelling them out. I admit that Gaia has some issues with appealing to a younger crowd, but that's precisely why it needs to be kept in check. i started a year ago, but it was right before this insane amount of sponsors. it seems like once a week they're pushing us to sponsors and it seems almost as bad as website advertisements. they also used to be mostly sustained by the /donation items/.. now they're called thank you letters. everyones paying a lot of money for this stuff and it doesn't seem to be going toward anything... Word bump still doesn't work. the games still glitch out. theres a lot of problems i always assumed the money would go toward fixing. but making it to level 75 on word bump was a fruitless effort when nothing was rewarded. With the donation items, that was probably a consequence of their popularity. Gaia has very good legal reasons for changing the name. (Namely, you can't go, "Well, I thought I could claim an exemption." Which is silly to begin with, but people do believe that.) Even back in 2004, I thought that the name "donation item" was a misnomer - I mean, sure, you weren't getting material possessions in return for it, just game trinkets that aren't worth anywhere near $2.50 apiece. But when you had people who were donating upwards of $100 per month (yes, there were people like that back in the day), one has to wonder about their intentions. But I digress. I actually do agree that Gaia's moves have been a bit excessive in the past few weeks. Like, the first week of December we got the Matrix, the Hills, AND Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle offers. Granted, the middle one of those caused massive amounts of wank, so they may have sped up the very popular latter quest to appease the masses. The pajamas I'm actually not offended about - I don't see it as much different from any of the other items in the Gaia store. "Mommy, I want Bump sweatpants!" Does it come with a corresponding item? Well, yeah, but on the flip side they actually made the OMG a monster in battle and have OMG swag out the a**. There are Grunny slippers (just like in Gaia!) and Gwee and Kiki and Coco plushies. (Actually, I think the Gaia Store Gwee came before MC Gwee.) I find the Cash Shop to be more offensive at times - I mean, yeah, Hermes' Moon. Gaia knows that there's a significant amount of users that spend excessive amounts on Gaia. I think this is just enabling them further. But I also think that a lot of the adults - yes, the adults - are enabling Gaia. I mean, don't ******** turn around and say, "GAIA IS GREEDY FOR PUTTING A $10 ITEM IN THE CASH SHOP - WHAT'S NEXT, $100 ITEMS?!" and then go and buy a Hermes' Moon for every generation just because you like the cheeseball that much that you want to keep it 4evz and can't accept the fact that it changes. Don't go and post in GCD, "Well, I was tempted to buy a pair of pink pants just so I could get rich on Gaia" - what the ******** is wrong with you that you're prioritizing a pair of ******** game pants that aren't even real over ACTUAL ******** PANTS? In short, maybe Gaia's going to hell in a handbasket. But the users - even though they protest in the forums - speak volumes louder with their wallets. [/rant] Sorry, Flower, that wasn't directed at you; that was my general frustration at the utter dumbshittery that I've borne witness to.

FanFicGuru Hey guild, What would you guys think about writing an Open Letter to Gaia regarding their recent advertisement activities? I think that some of us agree that Gaia is drifting away from the fans that helped them get where they are, and now they're simply catering to the pre-teen and early teen demographic who beg mommy and daddy to buy them 25 dollar pajama bottoms. I don't know, I'm pretty upset about the whole thing and I would feel better confronting Gaia about it, and maybe getting some sort of legitimization or response. Thoughts? Doooooo iiiiiitttt! A lot of the stuff they're coming out with you have to buy to get exclusively so it's like..wtf. The gaia cash is gone so quickly it's not even worth it really to get the items but it's one of those things that people buy anyway.
