Malik took them down, brought two horses out and had then both positioned at the end of a long run...at the other end were some practice dummies. and Malik had in hand, two blunted lances, one with a ram on the end and the other with a fist.
"Mount up. at your ready, try adn hit the dummy. they rotate, so if you don't hold yourself right you'll get knocked right off to the dirt. do this for thirty minutes, and then I'll pair you off."

"You are! I do not have to have things my way. You're just a little too passive on things for my liking sometimes. I don't want our babies out in the world any sooner than they have to be." She wasn't moving either, standing so close to him their bodies were literally brushing with every move they made. "No you wouldn't, Sevilin and we both know that. You don't consider yourself worthy enough to prove a point to any one of us." She was quiet a moment and for the first time since the fight had begun, seh dropped her eyes. "You rebel...but she's not going to and I don't tell her no all the time. She gets to do her school activities and we allow them to use the full scale of their abilities against us. Why can't she just wait a year or two, learn a bit more, and then compete?"
He did as he was told and was thrown to the dirt the first few times since he wasn't trying to be precise and didn't really care whether or not he knew how to joust. After getting knocked continuously, he started actively trying to hit in the right spot and avoid the dummy striking back at him.

It was entertaining and educational to say the least, two things that didn't often go together. But in this case they did...even if he himself was getting put in the dirt still, and when he and Zykariel eventually were having at each other they were still putting each other in the dirt. Though he was beginnig to see what his mother meant by the armor banging you up while you were in it. "Why can't anything be even remotely easy as you think it is." Rubbing at the back of his neck as he sat armor clad in the dirt for the moment.
"Yes you do. When you get fed up you talk right over my head and I don't even get a word in." And he hated her pedestal and did his best to discourage the use of it. Like right now. Did sting how she pinned him on his worth, even if he didn't want to admit it. But she was usually not one to say that, he was. Which only made blood red eyes narrow a bit more before she suddenly dropped the gaze they had on each other. Seemed Zahara was giving a bit on the subject. "Even if you're not told no all the time, there are certain subjects that you will not take the answer on, no matter how many other freedoms you have. It's different...she knows we won't hurt her, I can guarentee you she's not using all she can with us. Tell her she has two years to wait and she'll care about nothing but that competition."

"Because then there would be no fun in learning to do it. You both are learning quickly, but you have to be very careful to aim. you want to aim and try to hit them in the chest, or at the least, you can aim for the helmet. let me show you."
Malik patted Zykariel on the shoulder, and got up in the saddle, wearing his own armor..and moved the horse to the just past the starting edge.
"come on, get up and ride. I want to show you about aim. then you can both collapse."

Goodie, praise. Not that he didn't get it randomly from other adults but it was always nice to have. He winced as Malikhai hit the dirt once again. This wasn't fun. Why was this fun? Needless to say the lesson took off once again and both boys began to grasp the mechanics of it all.
"That is not true." Pulling away from him and frustratingly moving around the room, tidying things up but not because she wanted to. It was more of a way to express her anger, throwing pillows onto the bed and unpacking various things. He had valid points but Faate was just too young to go out there in her opinion. "She knew I was going to tell her no, that's why she asked it so hesitantly. And then Malik confirming that it would be alright only gave her hope and now if I don't let her do it, either you're going to go behind my back and let her anyway or I'm going to be the one she hates because of it." Her anger spent, she searched for the comfort she knew she would get. Wrapping her arms around her husband, she nuzzled him. "I'm sorry Sevilin. For earlier and now. She can compete but only if I'm on the field as a healer."

"Right, aim." But he hoisted himself up again, committed to his cause even if he was literally turning colors from being thrown about. You had to suffer to better yourself and this was another way. Thusly back up on the horse and onto training more until Malik probably had to more or less carry them back upstairs.
He watched her go about cleaning things up and unpacking as she disengaged in the conversation and yet kept it up as well. She had at least thrown the hostility by the wayside. Didn't take too long before he was picking things up and straightening the room as well out of habit if anything else. Sevilin didn't pursue the conversation further though, they were merely talking in circles now and he didn't like to argue in circles. Though he did blink in confusion a moment as he felt her arms slip around him and she was apologizing. See, if she had done that in the beginning, they wouldn't be fighting at all. "I wouldn't go behind your back, even if you have indeed gone behind mine for Zykariel's racing." Shaking his head lightly with a sigh he ran a hand along her back in soothing fashion. "I think that's a fine compromise."
He was as giddy as a three year old with a fresh baked cookie…on the inside. On the outside, he was merely sporting a stoic expression as he was clad in armor with his sword at his hip and Kerick’s reins in one hand. They were at tournament! At the very least, all that bottled up energy was going to be put to good use now wasn’t it? The place was alive with activity if anything; bright colors, vendors, smiths, constant noise, other competitors and their entourages, oh yes it was indeed enough to make him giddy. "So, what happens now?" They were here, so what now?
Dhairiss was quite keeping his mother busy as he was tugging at her hand in his trying to get away to go after some of the things he saw playfully. A high pitched series of giggles was given by the toddler as he was picked up and tossing in the air once before his mother settled him against herself, both of them never minding the armor she wore. Then again he had himself a little set of bracers and greaves on, so he was fitting right in.
Piper pressed a kiss to her son's cheek and nuzzled him lightly. Indeed she was glad in red chaimail and white leather, her hair plaited back and her bandana holding her bangs out of her eyes, bow and quiver slung across her back, sword at her side with whip as well as her daggers, Serino trialing behind lightly. "Now, we get lodgings...or rather check into them." An amused look to Malik. "Did you know I still get my inn floor, every tournament? Makes things so much easier." Idly look around as well, who knew who she was see her, perhaps even Onyx or Moonstone. Tournaments were quite the gatherings.
Mm, tourament was crowded. He didn't enjoy crowds but he was going to have to make do for his daughter now wasn't he? Yes yes he was...he just wouldn't touch anything. In his opinion it was all a lot of fuss. Though he was also a little curious as to the amount of horses around as well. Was there a race at this thing or nearby that he didn't know about and was being kept in the dark in? But a look down to his eldest daughter. "How are you feeling?"

"We get our inn floor, we get ready, you enjoy yourself. privately scout the competition. relax, son. You'll be just fine. You've been trained by a former champion, who was never dethroned."
patting his son on the shoulder, and looking around himself...before giving his wife a kiss.
"Makes things far easier."
Dhairiss got a pat on the head as well. and a look at the Intharas. a slight grin to Sevilin.
"jousting. no races...a lot of competitors, due to lack of magical abilities or devices, bring horses not only to joust with, but others to carry equipment. that way they don't put any strain on their jousting mount until they have to."
Before catching a glimpse of something...and narrowing his eyes...before turning back to the rest of them.
"So, we get settled, anyone that wants to roam can, I'll provide funds if you want to spend some, and take a look around. enjoy yourselves. relax until it's time to not relax."
Tournament. interestingly enough it brought out so many people. vendors, cooks, competitors. It was like Qeynos in it's daytime hours, and as much as he felt superior to these humans, they did do their jobs well, and were proud of their city. proud enough that though the surface world was there, they chose to remain.
But he was out looking through the various metalsmiths, and critiquing in his mind their skills and workmanship when he felt it. the eyes that barely noticed him in the crowd, probably only glimpsed some brief flickering memory of armor.
though a glance as they moved past. Indeed. two sons. and the woman. but the others...they were darker than the Tier'dal...but had the save feel to them. a darker cousin, perhaps. But that remains to be seen how well his son is compared to his father.

She had a bag thrown over crossways over her shoulder and was using her staff as a walking stick, rather than on her back like her father. All the noise and commotion was a little intimidating to her and she fought against the impulse to slip her hand into her father's. "A little scared. Maybe Mama was right and this wasn't such a good idea, Daddy. What if I forget I can't use runes and get disqualified?"
She had her younger daughter's hand in hers and Kelligrin was in reverie on her shoulder. He'd had a rough night and she'd finally fallen into reverie herself with her hand on his back in between the slats of the crib that she'd finally convinced Sevilin to move into their room just for the night. She was adamant that the little boy stay in his crib despite the ease of settling him in bed between them. "Are you hungry, Lyss?" Getting the child's nod, she caught her husband's attention. "Lyssthyren and I are going to explore a little bit. I'll meet you at the inn in about twenty? Faate, you're welcome to come along as well." Zykariel had already found a group of his friends and gone off.
He was indeed surrounded by a bunch of schoolmates and was talking and laughing with them as they explore the new world before them. Most of them had entered into the various competitions and he was once again glad that his father had given him an out. He needed to let him know he wouldn't be participating soon, too. Catching a certain elf's eye, he waved her over and grinned. "If you're looking for a certain color, it drifted over thataway."
She glanced at him for a moment, frowning until recognition lit into her eyes and she quirked an eyebrow. "I never said I was looking for anything, but since you mention it, he is in fact here?"
"Of course he's here. The whole family came so make sure you look before you grab if you intend to sweep him off his feet. It would be rather embarrassing if you got the bigger one and I don't think his wife would appreciate it either."
She rolled her eyes. "I'm not here for him. I'm here because my parents dragged me."
He grabbed her around the waist, pulling her out of the way of a runaway cart and against his chest. "Whatever you say, Kaelin. Point is, he'll be participating in the sword competition and jousting as well. It's up to you if you go see him or not. I won't let him know you're here if you don't want me too."

She smiled at her husband with a light chuckle. "Don't be so sure Malik. There is indeed a race coinciding with the tournament. New track and all. I was thinking of getting into that myself just for the fun of it. Granted I'm not looking to take anyone's glory, but I do enjoy just the speed." Shrugging lightly and giving Dhairiss another nuzzle as he babbled at his father's patting and tugged at his mother's collar. He had himself a case of a wandering mind at the moment and was switching subjects faster than anyone could really keep up as he was pointing things out. About the most excited they had ever seen him. But they continued on until they came to the familair inn, they all knew the plan. Pick a room and settle in then have their fun. "Malikhai, why don't you go wander around for a bit, get acquainted with the grounds...and don't be bad." Taking the boy's things from him. It was merely a matter of claiming the room they first had when they first came to deep water and it looked as same as ever, blood red and dark cherry wood. Adjusting her hold on their youngest, she turned a look back to her husband. "Nostalgia, no?"
He nodded, getting some steel from his parents just in case as he parted ways with them, mounting up on Kerick to get his better vantage point to yes indeed venture about deepwater and the tournament grounds. After all, all this activity and he wasn't going to miss out on it or anything it had to offer. Besides, he had a boyish curiosity going.
"Being scared is good, means you won't get cocky. If you're worried about using those accidently, I can lock them down for you so you can't use them. Would that make you feel better?" Giving her a reassuring smile before his look came up to Malik and then faded over to Piper. "Seems you dont' know as much as you would like to think either." But great, racing temptation. A shake of his head before a look back to Zahara. "Don't get into trouble and don't fight with anyone." Grinning before a hand on his daughter's back, leading her to the inn with the others. Might as well ditch their things first. "You'll do just fine."

Malik rolled his eyes.
"Great. Racing here...but that will work fine. Zykariel will be thrilled I'm sure."
looking around the room, putting the stuff down and grinned lightly.
"Indeed. nostalgia. I remember everything that happened here."
then taking thier youngest son from her and setting him on the bed for a moment, and unpacking what they needed unpacked.
"I think this will be very enjoyable. how about the rest of you?"
He walked through the area, idly watching things..until someone caught his eye, and he gave her a smile and walked over to her, kissing her lightly.
"How are you enjoying this time?"
"I'm enjoying myself just fine. and you?"
"Things are working well. we'll be in fine shape."
His wife nodded lightly and gave him a smile, and a pat on the cheek.
"Play good with the others. I have a few things to gather, and then I'll be ready for my own competition. and remember what I said. the son is not his father. don't overdo it."
A very serious look to him...though he gave a nod and slight roll of his eyes.
"I'll remember."

"Speak of the devil." He released Kaelin who hadn't moved since he'd pulled her away and gave a grin up to his friend who was riding towards him on Kerick. "I told you he was here." Then over to the blue elf. "Hey Khai! Out exploring or scoping out the competition?"
Kaelin had been quite surprised and hadn't thought to move when she'd been hauled. She shoved Zykariel away about the same time he let her go and turned her gaze up to the mounted Malikhai. Giving a curt nod of her head, she softened it with a smile. "Still participating in events then? Thought you might have decided to back out when you'd had time to think about it. Though, I'm not sure I saw your name on the roster. Are you registered already?"
She wasn't so sure she agreed but was willing to believe it anyway. "Maybe that would be a better idea. But Daddy, they all look so much more powerful than me. I just don't want to step out there and get laughed at or worse...have them expecting something only to be disappointed." She'd fought her parents using magic and her older brother and even some of her classmates but this was going to be vastly different and she was petrified.

While Malik unpacked, Dhairiss made a show of moving anything set near him on the bed, just a bundle of happy energy that commanded the attention fo those around him as he more or less wallowed in the excitment from the place and well...this was the first time he had been away from home. Perhaps he hadn't realized that yet. His brother had been quite upset that first time he had left home. Slipping off the bed, he toddled over to the window, climbing up on the window seat and pressing hsi face aainst the glass. "Look! Look it!"
She watched her youngest with the fondness that every mother had as he went about making a show of things and excited as ever before her look turned back to Malik. "I wish I could forget what happened here. Though I suppose there were good points. Have you decided if you're taking your own tournament invitation yet?"
He was indeed scoping out his competition, and it seemed most that did look his way, recognized him and woudl give a cocky look. Let them, he knew he could prove himself here. But his attention turned to Zykariel as his friend called his name and he directed Kerick over, giving his friend a clap on the shoulder. "Little bit of both, I figure I might as well get acquainted with the place." And away from shadowing guards...or at least he was under such an impression. But his eyes fell to Kaelin and he tried to not grin too much as to seem overly pleased and cocky. And thusly he slipped down off his horse to stand before her, all clad in armor but still seeming humble to an extent. "I am indeed competing. My father just hasn't turned in my papers yet to the listings, but I do assure you I will be competing." Nodding lightly, "I am glad to see you here though. Honestly I didn't think tournament would be your thing."
"Or hopefullly he won't find out." Last thing he wanted was to deal with that. Malik was given a passing glance though as he continued on, "I think I'm going to be stressed out." Opening one of the doors to one of the other rooms, scoping it out some. "Of course they do...competition is about intimidation. Most are not what they seem, they are merely trying to play games with your head. And no one is expecting anything out of you, so you can just do your best and let whatever happens, happen. But you can't let yourself freeze because of doubt."

"Not yet. I am allowed to take it at the last minute if I want. Officially, I've told them that if someone I deem worthy of my time comes along, I'll participate. if not, then I won't."
before walking over to the window.
"and what are you looking at?"
The female elf as now sitting by the registration booths, placing the papers for both herself and her husband, while Malikhai's papers were being delivered along with his illusionist teachers.
she looked at the Tier'dal woman a moment, and the papers.
"A fellow enchantress? It will be nice to see if you live up to expectations of your kin."
She glanced over at the Koada'dal, and gave a slight smirk.
"I have a feeling you might be in over your head, Koada'dal. But your kin are so few here. it will be nice to see if the mage guilds of Felwithe produce magi of any real power."
He walked about, and took measure of a few of them, though he stopped to watch Malikhai deal with a woman and another of the darker ones, which he'd overheard referred to as drow.
He held himself in decent manner, but any in a Tier'dal house would in such company as a human city. his armor was definately Neriak. but he displayed none of the battle hardening that would signify that armor. it was porbably his father's. Which meant he had upgraded his armor. he wondered from where. He himself had armor fashioned in Growth itself, under the same armor and weaponsmiths at shaped the planar born sword he carried.

"You are such a braggart." Shaking her head in amused fashion, though to her it made sense. Malik was quite set in his ways of husband and father and though he was still brash and rough around the edges, he didn't risk himself as he once did years ago. It had started when he gave up his gift of Innoruuk's power to ressurect him to Ton and Eca, and had rooted deeper since their marriage and children had all taken place. Piper did appreciate it on a level...didn't want to loose him because of those ways of his.
He was indeed busy looking at things going on around on the ground in the streets below, particularly a tournament participant or two show boating with their entourage and the like, making a much bigger deal than it needed to be. Of course to him that was just fun. A giggle and a tap on the glass to something else apparently, "Look it daddy!" Various little flares of magic from one group of gathered teenagers, obviously pre-boasting in the streets to one another. Sitting on his knees still he turned a look to boht his parents, hand still propped on the glass. "Can I?"

"I think you'll be just fine, Malikhai. Just have to focus and not worry about what the other idiots are doing." He turned his attention to a flock of girls briefly and gave a wave and a smile then lightly punched his friend's shoulder. "I bet I could cut him down but he pays my expenses." Then a very large, very happy grin. "You know there's a race? Pot is worth more steel than some of the largest ones we do combined. I need to scope out the course and make sure Destyny is ready but I have a good feeling about this one."
"Well then, I suppose there might be something worth watching in these silly events after all." She quirked an eyebrow at the armor and then reached out and knocked on it. "Some people believe that armor is nothing more than a hindrance and one can be far too easily cut down if the other is free to move about and such." She gave a smirk. "Just be careful. We'd all hate to get the elder Lord D'vinn's wrath." She paused a moment and then shrugged. "My mother entered."
She walked in and found that the connecting door would lead to the room she was likely going to share with her sister. Dropping her own bag off, she walked back in and joined her father. "Do you really think I can do this? I mean the Inthara name is no stranger here. You and Mama made it that way." She walked to the window and glanced out, watching the teens mess with each other. "I guess all I can do is try, right? But you won't be upset if I get knocked out really early?" Last thing she wanted to do was disappoint her own parents.
Lyssthyren bounded into the room as excited as Dhairiss. "Daddy! You should see all the neat stuff. I got a necklace!" Showing it off rather proudly. "We were gonna get you something too but Kelligrin started to cry like babies always do." Rolling her eyes and tugging her sister's hand. "You're gonna fight those guys!"
Zahara followed her a moment later, trying to soothe a fussy baby. He'd been in reverie until one of the teens decided to lose control of his magic. It had come perilously close to hitting the child but she'd deflected it at the last second. Of course if she'd been more or less nearly frozen in the middle of reverie, she would have been quite pissed off too. And yes, she'd given him a blast back. That should teach him to be a little more careful regarding what he was doing. "I know, baby. It was cold but now it's all gone."
