Quick question, why is it the Phillipines but people are referred to as Filipino?

Final Halcyon Quick question, why is it the Phillipines but people are referred to as Filipino? From what I was told, the "F" for "Filipino" is derived from Spanish. In Tagalog, we usually spell it as "Pilipino" (since there's no "F" in the Tagalog alphabet.) As for myself, I'm more accustomed to using "Pinoy" for males and "Pinay" for females. Does that answer your question? Oh, and how 'bout a drink? [WAITER]

Heh...Duuude...I went to this Filipino party on Friday....This 24 year old girl asked me if I wanted a beer...or some wine, heehee. Later that night I jumped in the pool with all my clothes on....<3....Don't worry, I wasn't drunk....I didn't accept her offer, heehee...<3
