"Breeh!"
The rocks crumbled away at the will of Mr. Winstrate's powerful Breloom, who hadn't even needed to break a sweat despite the density of the rock. M.A. was deeply impressed, wondering if she'd ever really be able to come back and take on the whole family. No, she mustn't doubt herself, though; she'd promised Houndour that they'd both become strong -- not the best, M.A. had added to herself, feeling that was far over her head and always would be, but a force to be reckoned with at least. Then, they wouldn't need people to go out of their way to help her so much. . . "Thank you so much. I'm sorry for being such a trouble."
"Nonsense, child! You did us a favor by battling Randy and waking up that Winstrate spirit of his! He's been moping for weeks, and hasn't smiled once. Well, toodle-loo, then! You'll come back, right?"
It wasn't purely rhetorical, this time. M.A. smiled. "Of course."
And, now that the boulders were no longger in her path, she could continue down the hill to Mauville, the town that was just barely visible from where she stood just then.

Other trainers passed by them on the way to Lavaridge and Mt. Chimney, but that in itself was nothing extraordinary. In fact, the rest of the way to Mauville was simple, fresh, and uneventful.
"If I was a flower, I could just blooom today," Mary-Anne said aloud (by mistake, actually), spinning around in the sunlight with her long arms spread out wide like a bird. She laughed at herself a moment later; my, how oddly the passer-bys glanced at her! Well, that was okay. She was enjoying herself, and it wasn't harming anybody. So, she continued to skip, dance, pick flowers. . . "Good afternoon," she called out to a particular boy who had stopped to stare at her antics for a bit longer than the others. He blushed red and would've hustled off, but M.A. was beaming so genuinely that he couldn't help but mutter a 'good afternoon' in reply before leaving.
It wasn't that Mary-Anne was terrible immature; in a sense, it may be the opposite, for she wasn't afraid of what others thought of her letting a bit of childish joy out into the world. Her cousin, Nanna, always acted graceful and so refined, but M.A. and Michael found that she was sometimes a tiny bit "stiff" -- the boys she "subtly" flirted with, though, thought she was absolutely wonderful and elegant (no guy ever saw M.A. further than a friend yet, though; then again, she was a bit underdeveloped, but that didn't bother her. She'd just turned fifteen, after all, so it was okay in her book). Still, M.A. added in her head, Nanna was a darling too. Mary-Anne would always stick in a good word for someone she knew, and in that manner never could hold a grudge for more than a moment.
That giddy mood passed soon enough, though, just before Mauville. A quiet, curious M.A. entered the town, which, unlike Lavaridge, didn't seem to be having so many tourists that day, or perhaps anyday. It was a pleasant town either way, and trainers in groups passed by cheerily -- in groups, M.A. thought to herself. No, the excitement of beginning her journey hadn't let her feel lonely yet, but someday that would inevitably fade. Perhaps she'd find a friend in Johto, if not in Hoenn, since she was heading there after all.

I might as well just become a Flying Pokemon trainer, Nina thought to herself with a bit of a chuckle. After all, it seems like I spend more time in the air than I do anywhere else.
The flight time was passing slowly, it seemed; this was probably due to the fact that Nina was anxious to return to her city. Kilik's going to be the first person that I'll be battling as a Gym Leader... I'm going to have to make sure that all of Sabrina's warp panels are working to absolute perfection. Nina grinned stupidly for a second, and she could feel the excitement for her battle building up.

Giovanni raised an eyebrow. "Really now?" he smirked happily and stood up. He walked over to her and patted her on the shoulder. "Amazing work, Mai. You have the deepest gratitude from my heart," he placed his free hand on his chest. "Not only that...but I'll see to it that you are commended even further for your actions." Giovanni pulled the Pokeball that he recieved from the Guard from his pocket and showed it to her.
"Mai, I doubt it's a Pokemon that I myself will need. You take it." Giovanni headed to the other side of his desk, placing the ball on the end, "Think of it as an award for your mission," he slammed his hands on the desk triumphantly, "You will be my Second-In-Command, Mai. How does that sound?"

Before she knew it she was sent crashing though the bushes, luckily no one had been around. "Nightmare!" Mitsu shouted trying to hold down her laughter. She held up the Gyrados' Pokball before recalling the massive Pokemon in. "Thanks anyways buddy."
Pulling out her Mach Bike and following the map on the Pokenav Mitsu began to peddle south of where she had come. "It says Slateport's down there," she said to herself, "but where's the Cycling Road entrance?" Slowing to a stop Mitsu glanced around, no building in sight. "Oh well, I guess I'll take a break," she sighed setting her now folded bike aside. Throwing up three Pokeballs Mitsu released Ebony, Sapphire, and Ivy to keep her company. Well that and the fact that she had gifts for them. Digging through her bag she withdrew five shiny disks of various colors. "I got you guys some TMs for doing such a great job against Norman and his trainers!" she said smiling. She felt kind of guilty that she hadn't purchased anything for Karri or Zyphyr, but they had gotten the spoils of previous gym matches she reasoned.
"Ivy you're first," she said picking up the silver, but rather plain colored disk. "Protect, it'll help you buy sometime and save the energy of dodging." And when or if you ever decide to evolve it'll help with your lack of speed she thought sheepishly. Gently Mitsu pressed the disk to his forehead. As the knowledge was being absorbed the disk begn to turn a dull gray color and crack leaving only bit's of dust. Ivy happily set out to practice his new skill.
"Sapphire your turn," Mitsu said picking up a green and orange disk. "For you I bought Solar Beam and Sunny Day. Make for a nice combination, helps fight your water weakness, and give your fire attacks a power boost." She explained. His pointed tail swished back and forh as Mitsu pressed both disks to his forehead. Eager to try his new moves the Houndoom began to head off on his own, making sure to not get too far away.
"Last but not least," Mitsu said already begining to laugh, "Ebony! My ace for that last gym battle!" Making his entrance he floated up though the ground. Mitsu pressed two disks onto his forehead as well just as she had done with Sapphire and Ivy. "For you, my little Gengar, I got Psychic and Sludge Bomb." Once the disks dulled and broke he too was off to practice. Well, perhaps play would be a better word. Neither Pokemon wandered too far and they were all still within Mitsu's eye sight. "Looks like we're almost to Mauville," she said aloud to herself.

"Alright, lets star off with somethin easy. Spinarak, String Shot!" Crenu picked up several sticks and twigs from the ground and tossed them into the air one at a time. Spinarak jumped forward and shot down each stick with pinpoint accuracy and stuck them all to the trees. "Alright, let's go for a straight line this time, String Shot once more!!" Throwing three sticks into the air at once, spinarak took aim and fired one shot of silk witch caught two of the sticks and stuck them to a tree while the last one hit the ground. "That's slright, we'll try again."

The Youngster just glared at Toph even though she couldn't see it. "Wings use Fury Peck!" The Spearow just gave a caw and dove down into the bubble's ready to attack the Squirtle with its sharp beak. Storm however had other plans. After being hit with that beak befor he had no intention's of feeling that again. So as the Spearow flew closer he prepaired himself and as soon as the pokemon was close enough he blasted the bird with a Water Gun attack sending it flying back.
Toph who hadn't seen any of this only knew that something had happened when she didn't feel the Spearow attacking her pokemon. Frowning a bit she crossed her arm's over her chest. "Storm use Bubble and wait for the right time." She comanded.
"Wings try Fury Attack again!" The Younster shouted as the Spearow picked itself up and charged again at the water pokemon. Just as it was about to hit Storm released the Bubble attack again right into the bird pokemon's face sending it flying back again only this time it didn't get up the force of the bubbles attack had knocked it out.
Recalling the Spearow the Youngster went up to to Toph and held out his hand. "Good job there. I am glad for the battle."
Toph just waved his hand away. "Whatever, we can do it again some time yada yada yada." Without even a good bye Toph turned and started heading off in the direction of Viridian forest with out even waiting for her pokemon. Storm who had made his way over looked to Edge who simply shrugged, Queeny hadn't waited and was at her trainer's side nose held high in the air. The two other pokemon made a small dash to catch up, once reaching their trainer's side they slowed down. Storm looked up at his trainers face curiosly and was somewhat suprised to see a smile there. "You did a good job there." Was all she said as they reached the edge of the forest. "Lets go inside now shall we?"

Their first stop in Mauville was the PokeCenter, naturally. However, M.A. didn't find much help for Daemyn there -- the very hassled Nurse Joy (who Mary-Anne was doubly surprised to see again) -- was running about from room to room, and could not find much time nor space for another Pokemon unless it direly needed it. Daemyn was alright for the most part, M.A. thought to herself; sure, he had a few scratches and was pretty exhausted, but it was nothing a day's rest couldn't do away with. Other trainers' Pokemon looked like they needed medical help a lot more than he did.
Looking around in the waiting room, she saw a tired but pleasant looking guy sitting, evidently waiting for his Pokemon to be helped. "Hullo!" The guy smiled wearily; so M.A. had found a nice guy after all. "Well, I'm a bit new to this, so would you mind a few questions? I'm from Fallorbor and started a few days back, so. . . yeah."
"Go on, go on," he prodded on amiably, when she paused.
"Is it often like this in PokeCenters? So crowded, I mean?"
"No, not usually, but it's just one of those days, I s'pose. Some of us got tossed around pretty rough coming from Slateport on the Cycling Road -- there's some tough cyclers on there; some came from Foretree, and that's quite a bit of travel too; some from the desert; some from Mauville's gym leader, though I can't remember his name just now. Nurse Joy's got a handful, her and her two Chanseys."
"Wasn't Nurse Joy in Lavaridge, though?"
"There's Nurse Joys everywhere; they're all related. Isn't there one in Fallorbor?"
"Nooo. . . Although Michael said there was once, 'round ten years ago."
"Oh, I see. Well, then, there's my Kimora!" A Chancey brought to him a Pokeball; M.A. wondered what was inside, and would've asked, but the guy suddenly stood up, bid her farewell and good luck, then disappeared. Weird guy. . . I didn't even get his name. Then again, I forgot to say mine, too. .

"Well I guess we should start going sight seeing around the city. Oh I know for a fact that there is a contest hall in vermillion. Let's go check that ou so that we can be more prepared when we get to Cerulean. " Z said placing Cole's pokeball on his belt. "That sounds like fun!" Summer said chuckling at Z and Cole. "Sounds like a plan." Lyn said trying to hold back an uncharcteristic laugh at Z and Cole's antics. "Okay let's go!" Z said enthusiasticly as Shino jumped onto his shoulder. "Come out pixel! You should walk with us to!" Summer said letting the vulpix out of it's pokeball. "Vul!" It said happily rubbing up against summer's leg. "I guess you should come out as well Amy." Lyn said lazily as she let her surskt out as well. The trio and their pokemon started off back to vermillion so that they could check out the contest hole. When they got there they saw that many coordinaters were training outside. "Cool!" Summer said as they saw a cool looking absol practice an appeal.

"Thank you, Sir," Mai blinked, unable to believe what he was saying. "I would be honored." She looked down at the Pokeball he'd placed on the desk, suddenly remembering that she hadn't quite finished yet. She sat down on one of the plush, leather chairs, swinging one leg over the other. "Naturally," she went on, "we had to see for ourselves whether or not the relic truly existed, and upon further investigation, we were able to confirm it." She smiled, now holding up the red and black Rocket ball, smiling proudly at Giovanni. "Sir, I am certain you shall be pleased to hear that the first piece of the relic is being safely held in vault 34, on the lowermost floor of the base." She paused, pushing her blond bangs out of her face and grinning broadly. "That's right, we have it." At that, she placed the Dugtrio's Rocket ball firmly on the table, and pushed it towards her boss. "This Pokemon, a Dugtrio, took down nearly half of the Silver Squadron before I could subdue it. I'm sure it would make a fine addition to your collection."

Before long, Kasiya was perched on a rock, carefully studying her map. She knew very little about the Hoenn region, and the Johto region too, for that matter, but right now she was busy trying to pinpoint her position on the map. "If we continue heading east, we should come to the entrance of the desert. But, that leads us north, towards Fallarbor Town. We don't want that."
"Prroww," replied Seto, looking over her shoulder at the map.
"So south it is, then," she smiled, folding up the map carefully. She never understood how some people had trouble folding them. It was quite simple; just follow the creases. "South to Mauville City, and then we'll hop the train and be back in Saffron City in no time!" She jumped to her feet, slung her pack over her shoulders and was soon off again, Seto walking proudly beside her.

"I hope we're tough enough to even challenge Master Koga," Kasiya said aloud, as she and Seto continued to head east. "But after that, I'm not sure what to do. Did they appoint a new gym leader for Saffron? Oh, Sabrina..." Kasiya sighed, missing her friend dearly. She suddenly wondered how well Nina was taking it, and then recalled that her friend had called her last night, while she'd been waiting for the Pecha berries. "A madman who uses Pokemon to kill humans..." she sighed, trying to remember the rest of the message. "What else did she say? Why can't I remember?"
Her thoughts were interrupted as she came to the fork in the road she'd noted on the map. Sure enough, there were two signs: one pointed north, to the desert, while the other pointed south, to Mauville City. Feeling excited that her stay in Hoenn would soon come to an end, she and Seto started to run, stopping suddenly when they heard a voice calling out to them.
"Hey, you! Girl! Are you a trainer? Wanna battle?"

M.A. sat around for a while longer, chit-chatting with the other trainers; after all, some of them had such wonderful stories of their travels -- how she loved stories! -- and generally gave her some tips. Some also could share experiences of their travels, which could help her in the long run, perhaps; after all, she'd be heading to some of the places these "veterans" had gone to, too.
She was just about to leave to find some peaceful place to hang out for a while for Daemyn and herself when she once again noted Nurse Joy hopping from place to place, trying to be cheerful but evidently very stressed. "Nurse Joy? Is there anything I can do to help?" M.A. asked, walking swiftly after the nurse to keep up.
She turned, but didn't stop going. As she pulled out a couple folders from the counter, as well as stuffing a few medical supplies into the nook of her free arm, she answered, "I don't think there is, but thank you --"
The phone rang, and the pink-haired women dropped everything she had been holding from surprise. Sighing, she went to answer the phone. Chansey suddenly appeared, beginning to pick up the loose papers and supplies; M.A. kneeled down to help also, as it looked like this Chansey was the one to bring these neccessities to whoever needed it.
"Hello, this is Nurse Joy of the Mauville -- Oh! Hello! What's wrong? . . . . Oh dear, poor thing. Yes, I have the medicine, but. . . I can't, I'm swamped where I'm at. . . I don't know. . . Maybe. . . Alright, I'll try. . . No, I'll find a way, don't worry." The nurse hung up, looking more anxious than before. "How am I going to get to the Daycare center now?"
She noticed M.A. again, as if the girl had just appeared. "Do you need help, miss -- no, oh wait, you were here -- oh! I feel horrible in asking a favor of you when you're a guest, but do you think I could have your help after all?"
Mary-Anne nodded, earnestly wanting to help this Nurse. After all, if it weren't for these nurses and these PokeCenters, Daemyn might've not made it, as well as countless other Pokemon of countless other trainers.
"The Daycare Center nearby, west of here, direly needs this medicine for a newly hatched Zigzagoon; it's very sick. Usually, I'd deliver it myself, but. . . I can't leave here now. Do you think you could --"
"I'll take the medicine for you, definately! Just tell me how to find the center, and me and Daemyn'll go."
"Thank you so much," the Nurse smiled, a tiny bit more relieved.

"Yeah, I'm a trainer," Kasiya replied, turning to face the young man who'd called out to her. He was slightly taller than she was, fairly lanky with dark green hair. He wore a pair of thick goggles on his head, and also a pair of scuffed, worn blue jeans, well-worn hiking boots and a dirty white t-shirt. He tossed a Pokeball up and down, waiting for the girl to reply.
"So you wanna battle me, then?" he asked, looking at Seto for a second, and then back at Kasiya.
"Sure, you're on!" Kasiya said enthusiastically.
"Great! But I'm warning you, I'm tough!" he winked, before he tossed out his Pokeball. A strange, flying bug Pokemon was revealed, its wings practically invisible because they were beating so fast. Its face seemed to sport a strange mask, and two sharp claws extended from its body. A constant hum was emitted from it, and it zipped back and forth on the spot.
"Well, I like to think I'm pretty tough too!" Kasiya countered, looking at the strange new Pokemon and then at her Persian. "You're up, Seto," she told him, and he walked forward, his tail flicking back and forth in anticipation.
