It wasn't like Kade hadn't seen some get killed before. If he'd been in the state of mind to make comparisons, he'd have realized this wasn't that much different from that time he'd seen a bum get hit by a car. He'd been younger then, and couldn't help throwing up as the gore splattered all over the pavement and the bones snapped under the tires. Boss had dragged him back off the street, smacked him upside the head, yelled at him for wandering around so late at night, and practically forced a force of water down his throat. It'd be awful, disgusting-- but at least he hadn't been completely alone. Boss had been there, and even if she was a vicious b***h she was Boss, and there were the others, who were assholes (but so was everyone else), and there was Soot. Stupid, silly, slow, Soot.
And now there was just a pile of meat on the ground. Kade stared, transfixed. The bile rose in his throat, but he kept it down, just barely. He was older now, he could control himself, Boss was counting on him... and then the voice spoke up, and he snapped. Kade lurched forward into the shadows, not sure if he was aiming for the voice or the Tauros. "YOU-!" But he grabbed at nothing, slamming his fist hard into the wall. Bruises smash along his knuckles, but he ignored them. He really, really, really wanted to take his anger and frustration on someone, anyone within punching distance. He didn't care if it was that blond brat, or that new kid with the Venonat-- he needed to break heads and jaws, make them hurt worse than Soot. Their Pokemon were fine, they deserved it just as bad. He turned, fire in his eyes, and-
An egg. Black and red and silver... The sight of it froze him in his tracks. He did note the icy voice giving him orders, but he didn't especially care at this point. He darted forward, scooping up the egg in his arms and clutching it to his chest. "Soots, you dumb mutt," he growled, voice rough with more than anger. Head down, both furious and cowed, he left the Battle Room, oblivious to everything but a single goal.
The Venonat stopped short of his own attack. He suddenly began to gag and spit up little pieces of mud and dirt that had apparently been dislodged inside his throat. It had tasted horrible! All the pieces of mud and dirt, and potentially something else the Pokémon didn't even wish to think about. Regardless to what the contents of the dirt had been, his eyes begun to burn from the bits and pieces of debris of the attack.
Vincent gritted his teeth, fist clenching. He knew his precious Absolem couldn't handle an attack like that again. But they had to keep going on with battle no matter the case. He just had to think and fast. His eye's widened at the sight of what the Smoochum had begun to do and found the perfect opportunity there. Well, if their opponents were to play dirty, well then so could they! "Absolem! While we have the chance! Disable it!"
Through a cracked and dry throat, Absolem strained a cry out to his trainer. But, it was a shot in the dark with how badly his eye's had been affect by the prior attack. Hs eye's began to glow bright, regardless, and took aim.
I'd like to unfortunately announce that I won't be posting for about a week. Both my home computer's are dead, and it will take about that long to have any chance at getting them repaired. (Thank you Canadian Thanksgiving...).

Once more as the Fennekin's claws dug into rotten, putrid flesh, the little fox would find that not only did his attack hit it's mark, but it took a piece of the Ponyta with it. The fire-type was now lacking for a shoulder now, or at least the skin of it. Muscle and sticky off yellow bone protruded in full view now.
">Soldiers arise! Stand and fight! Bring victory at last to this fallen knight!< The Ponyta called out, his mane becoming a roaring blaze, the embers licking the air and creating with it the image of dozens of Ponyta standing alongside it. Flames lapped hungrily at the air, and all at once the Ponyta and his phantoms would charge. This wasn't merely a Flame Wheel, it was a stampede!
"When was your last eye exam? Your opponents the other way! GWAHAHAHAA!" The voice taunted from the shadows, clearly finding the Venonat's plight more than a little amusing. It would seem their tactic hadn't been anywhere near succeeding; and it was possible they were about to pay for that failure in full.
Tiny feet still moving at full steam the Smoochum would take a wide turn. Passing her hand through the shadows at the edge of the battlefield she'd scoop up a thick black substance which appeared more like tar then mud. Hand held high the big lipped child would charge straight for her opponent, a devious glint in her eye. It didn't take a genius to realize what was coming; the question was could they really take another Mudslap, or was their very first battle about to end in failure?
(Next we'll move on to items. Obviously certain items can only be used outside of battle. This includes most Key Items, TMs, and of course Held Items can only be equipped outside of combat.)
(In battle items such as berries, healing items, and PokeBalls may only be used on your own Attack Turn. Please note however that using an item also uses up that turn. This means simply enough you cannot use a Potion AND attack at the same time. It's one or the other.)
(When throwing a PokeBall you will need to roll 1 D20 same as when you attack. This is called a Capture Roll. This roll must be higher than the Pokemon's Capture Rate to succeed. Capture Rate will decrease as the Pokemon's high falls, or it obtains Status Effects. To learn what the Capture Rate is simply ask the moderator in charge of the Pokemon.)
(Like in the games once a Pokemon faints it cannot be caught so be careful.)

Nanami would feel as if she were waking from a dream...only to step straight into a nightmare. Like billowing smoke shadows would roll away from the walls blanketing the floor and filling the air. The world was consumed by darkness, all save for a single circle large enough for battle. "Welcome to my parlor....said the Ariados to the Yanma. Hehehe..." A voice greeted the girl, it's tone laced heavily with malice.
"Prepared to die, or are you another crier? Oh well, the tears can wash off the blood! GWAHAHAHAAHAHA!" The voice cackled. Seemed that from the very beginning in the Academy, niceties were left at the door.
Whether the child was ready or not after that introduction a Pokemoin would burst free of the darkness, an eerie blue glow briefly clinging to his fur before dispersing like flame. A fierceness showed in the Pokemon's eyes as he slammed his fists together...and expression which faded rather swiftly as he skidded to a halt, tilting his head and bringing a paw to his mouth. "Mo-kyu?" It uttered, more a sound than an actual word. "Yes, they are the ones. Get them Honey Night! GO ALL OUT!" The voice commanded from shadows.
Fierce gaze returning the Pancham clenched his paws tightly. Seemed he was ready for a fight!
(At the beginning of a battle both the participants shall post the stats for the Pokemon they shall be using. Akumu Academy uses a Turn Based combat; so while one Pokemon attacks the other shall defend. Please not that Defense means blocking, evading, or distracting your opponent and does NOT involve the use of moves.)
(Who takes the first attack is decided by the SPD stat. Whoever has the highest speed takes the first attack. If both Pokemon have the same SPD they will attack simultaneously. The victor will then take their defense and the loser shall try attacking again.)
(Each turn both participants will roll 1D20. This is called an Accuracy Roll. As the name implies it determines the success rate of the attack or defense. If the person attacking rolls highest the move shall succeed and damage calculation will follow...assuming of course it is a damage dealing move. If the person defending rolls higher the move will fail and no damage shall be taken.)
Absolem screeched out in rage at his failure. It's fur puffed and little paws wiggled around, screaming out all the horrible words known only to the Pokémon's language. Vigorously, he attempted to rub the dirt and debris from his eye. He could also just feel the Smoochum laugh in complete taunt and sass. Though the Venonat was in no condition to keep going, through sheer will and pride did the Pokémon look to the other only to find it whipping up another batch of mud.
Vincent clenched his teeth together, thoughts continuously racing for outcomes. This couldn't- he couldn't! This was his first Pokémon and was he really just about to loose it all right here for the Academy? He knew his Pokémon naturally knew how to dodge an attack, but at this rate was beginning to doubt everything. He didn't need to bark out the command to dodge, hopefully the Venonat would be about to clearly move out of the way before the final blow.

Eh, well... this was going to be... interesting, at the very least. Well, when a maniacal voice named their pokemon Honey Night, things were bound to be fun. Probably. The Rufflet seemed to get pumped up and ready for the fight as it fluffed itself and greeted the Pancham in a battle mode.
The Rufflet used work up, fluffing itself to ready itself for the the battle. For all her cool and calm, it was still her 'first' Pokemon battle, and it made her more alert to whatever would happen.

Mud would splatter against the Venonat's face as the Smoochum's hand struck home. Time seemed to slow as her palm pressed into the insect's soft purple fuzz, and then all at once the impact would come. A concussive blow which would send the Venonat into the wall, as the shadows abruptly disperse, and with them the Smoochum. "Bah, like swatting flies" The voice mocked, although this time he sounded rather bored "Go to the Pokemon Center and heal up. We'll see if you fare better a second time child."
((One final note. Death. If a Pokemon's HP falls below 0 it will keep going into the negatives for whatever excess damage has been taken. Once it falls below -7, that is once it hits -8 or lower the Pokemon will die. Once dead no amount of revives or trips to the center will bring it back.))

It would seem that beneath the glare of the Honey Night however that the Rufflet would suffer a bit of performance anxiety. Their opponent on the other hand suffered from no such issues however. Fur bristling, the Pancham's arms and shoulders seemed to grow larger as he rushed forward in a straight dash. Putting his body weight into this blow, it could clearly only be one thing...Tackle!
(To make that significantly clearer, I'll now do the Damage Calculation for my an attack from my Pancham using the rolls above.)

(In addition certain moves have an additional effect when the right conditions are met. In this case a roll 5 or higher than my opponent.)

(Now another thing you need to know about is Criticals and Fumbles. If you roll a 20 for your accuracy roll this will be considered a Critical. When you roll a Critical that Pokemon will receive +1 to their Accuracy Roll for the rest of the battle or until they're swapped out. Note this only effects the turn they rolled the Critical. Meaning if you roll a 20 while attacking it will apply to your attacks, and if you rolled it while defending it will effect your defense.)
(A Fumble occurs when you roll a 1. Opposite to a critical you will receive -1 to your Accuracy Roll in attack or defense depending on when you rolled it.) )
(And yes if you Disable Mud-slap she will Struggle.) )

As much as Absolem wished to dodge the slap of pure filth, he couldn't tell which way would have been right. His vision, still low, was not going to help in any means. His compound, insect eyes were failing to judge how close the Smoochum really was in comparison. Before he could blink, Absolem found himself spiraling against the wall.
Vincent stood inside complete shock and couldn't do anything but stand and stare, helpless, as the Venonat was slammed into the opposite wall. He gritted his teeth and felt a familiar pit in his stomach grow. He knew the effects from that final Mud Slap was enough to finish off Absolem in for the knock-out. There was no need for a hopeful emotion in a place of darkness. He gritted his teeth and ran for motionless Pokémon's side. Vincent didn't care for the remark of the victor as he drew the Venonat into his arms. Heck, that voice had every right to insult and be un-amused from their horrible performance. Vincent squeezed Absolem tightly against his chest once again. He stroked through the gunk and mud matted within Absolem's puff. He hated the filth. Hated the way the were literally destroyed. Vincent would not make the same mistakes inside the next battle. No more "feelings" inside a battle. No more trying to think an attack was just magically going to land, or his Pokémon knew how to simply jump out of the way of oncoming attack. There was more to a Pokémon battle than just that. It was about strategy. Power. Expierence. Accuracy of attacks and dodges, most importantly. That was at least what he had gathered from his first battle and was more than willing to apply it in the following.
Vincent stood to his feet, Absolem cradled still tight. There was nothing to be said. Only schemes to be formed, thoughts to be made, and plans to be followed. Vincent eyes darkened with the new resolve in his heart. He would not lose the next battle. That was something he would be certain of. He involuntarily tightened his grip further on his Pokémon and made his way to the place of healing.
I do have one last question..What would be considered to be one of those very rare items? But,thank you giving us your time and teaching the basics of the ropes and tricks of this place! I really do appreciate it.
