the city looked as if it were deserted, and there were no stores. nobody walked the streets, and there was no noise...at all.

it had to have been new years eve, because there was a giant plasma screen with numbers counting backward

After taking a few deep breaths, Lena sat back up and looked at how empty the city was. "Wonder what happened here..." she mumbled, half-expecting Godzilla to come out. She got up and walked a few steps towards the screen that was counting backwards.

when the screen hit '5', a small earthquake erupted. after that, the water lines busted the city's roads, almost flooding it.

She looked around and lifted one foot up to see the water dripping off her shoe. She climbed a car, wondering what was going on.

Lena jumped back and gaped at the monster. "Who, what, when, where?!" she stammered.

the monster looked at Lena and roared, sending the City into a raging flood.

She gulped and ran inside a building and climbed the stairs until she was on the roof of the twelve story building. She put her hands on her knees, incredibly sore from all that running. She looked at the monster and wondered what to do.

Nikolai was in the heart of the monster, controlling it. "come out come out!" it laughed

Lena spotted some telephone wires and thought about electrocuting the monster. She picked up some sharp pieces of debris and started throwing it at the wires, hoping to hit one.

Lena stopped and looked around. We're still in that pod thing, so this shouldn't really hurt him, right? she thought.
