Panda had just completed the last of this months potion orders, and was just about to open a thick, dusty book when there was a knock at his door. He had forgotten what time it was. Tossing the book aside, he stumbled over nic nacs and other trinkets trying to reach the door. Once there he quickly unlatched and opened the door.

"oh, lorika. Thank you for bringing me lunch again. You don't have too you know." was all he could say.

The Priestess gave a bright, beaming smile as the door was opened. "I know I don't have to... it's an immeasurable improvement on eating alone in my room, though. And I can't have our resident wizard starving to death!"

She stepped inside, clucking. "Honestly, I don't know how you survived before this past week. You never come to meals. It's not good for your body at all, you know."

Attempting to slide a few books away to clear space on the desk failed. As she was unwilling to disturb anything more than necessary, she simply placed the tray on top of them, before turning back to him, forwning in concern. "And do you EVER sleep? Look at these dark circles under your eyes..."

The priestess reached out to run her thumb across the ingrained bags beneath his grey eyes, tutting. Soon, however, she began to laugh, with a start of realisation. "Good lord. Oh! Is this why you're called Panda?"

...I have the receipts to prove it.

He stared at her as she pushed by him, she seemed to be feeling a lot better now, which he was thankful for. She had seemed like an awful wreak last week. All the calmness seems to have restored her.

"I won't starve, I eat when i'm hungry. It's just what i'm used to doing. Besides you sit in your room as well. Whether it's good for my body or not, It's what i'm used too. Besides, if I get sick, you can heal me." He said nonchalantly as he grabbed a bite of food

Her hands on his face made him flinch. They were very soft and gentle. As he expected of the priestess. She began to laugh as she held her hands there." No, that's not why they call me panda. My parents had a....great sense of humor when they called me that." He said, reaching up to grab her hand. "Besides, wasn't it me who had to give you an energy potion?" he said, cracking a small smile.

Very quickly, Cressa had replaced the underwear not in Storm's possession, slipped her shoes back on and fastened her robes and cloak around herself.

She smiled, impressed at the man, eyebrows slightly raised. "The lady would," she replied, reaching out to take his arm.

...I much prefer the term "morally challenged."

Feline didn’t notice that Meta had followed her till she spoke up.

“I’m terribly sorry for my poor manners. I guess I’m just a little wrapped up in this whole situation, but that is no excuse,” she berated herself, “No excuse at all. You are welcome to accompany me if you choose. I can’t guarantee the reaction he will have, but he seems to have left most of his anger behind.”

Feline felt like she could almost still sense his sorrow though, but maybe that was just the echo of her own reaching out to someone who knew her pain. I brought a smile to her heart though to think that she could at least bring him some good news.

“I’m sure he wouldn’t mind having a plate of your delicious food though!” she said cheerfully to Meta as she made her way to the guard at the front of the temple. “After all the poor man has been smelling your pastries all week, because I’ve been bribing his guards with them.”

After a short discussion with the guard she found out that the gear and weapons had been stored in the armory with most of the Order’s general equipment left over from the war. It was a short distance to fly there, but Feline didn’t want to add to her rudeness of the day and leave her companion behind.

An idea hit her, “Meta, maybe you should get him a little food. The guards have been so scared that I don’t know how much he has really gotten to eat in the last few days. It will be but a quick matter to get his gear and be back. We can then go give him the good news.” The more she thought about it the more the idea delighted her. A little food and familiar clothing would go a long way in helping the tiger man feel more normal and would make a better impression upon Lorika when she made her visit.

Feline quickly took to the skies promising to meet Meta back at the front of the temple in ten minutes time.

~~~~~~~~
The armory was almost distinct in it’s not having any guards on duty. Feline vaguely remembered hearing something about them being dismissed over a week ago and she guessed that no replacements had been found yet.
Making her way though dusty piles of robes and the occasional clam shield and trident propped up on the wall, she finally found the box the guard had spoke of. Neatly folded inside was the gear she remembered all too well from the night she had drug the two men to safety. Someone had taken the time to wash and repair the cloth; even the leathers had been thoughtfully cleaned and oiled. Not a single trace of the red sticky blood and dark murky mud that was so imprinted on her brain was left.
Feline carefully packed it all in a messenger bag she found in another pile and settled the bag in between her wings so it would not hinder her flight back. She was about ready to leave when the large broadsword on the shelf above the box caught her eye.
His sword. I can’t leave that here. With no guards anyone could walk in here and take it.
Emboldened by the thought she grabbed the sword. It was large. Completely bulky and unwieldy to a small creature such as herself. Her people had been made small and light so as to take to the skies better. She awkwardly wrestled the strap around her so that it too rested safely between her wings.
Leaving the armory was much harder than going in, burdened by the weight of the tiger man’s equipment. Luckily her tent was near by. She paused outside of it and gently took off the sword, taking care not to rip out any feathers. Feline then drug the sword into her tent and carefully laid it under her cot. Covering it with dirty standard issue robes, that she had yet to take to get clean.
Satisfied that the sword would be safe till she could return it she made one last stop before going back to the Temple. High in a nearby tree her amethyst called out it’s happy song to her. She smiled as she tucked it near her heart down the front of her robe. It was not happy to be left behind each day as she went to study at the library, but understood Feline’s dilemma of needing to hide it from Panda.
With everything in rights she made her way back to the Temple to meet the smiling Meta at the front entrance. Not a moment too soon, as large black clouds threatened in the distance.
~~~~~~~~~~

The guards had already been informed that Feline was bringing the prisoner his clothes, so neither made a motion to stop her as she slowly made her way to the door that help the man captive within. As she peeked in she saw him resting on the bed that had been propped up on the wall before. The sheet was still around his waist and he was resting on the bare mattress soaking up the little sunlight that was left through the barred window as the storm clouds moved in to swallow it all.

Smiling at the site of him Feline softly cleared her throat she called out, “Greetings to you again sir. As promised I am back and I come baring gifts.”

User ImageI am gone from my home, my world...

She was back, her.. and another?
More specifically, one with food, the other with his clothes and armor. He smelled the Azer magic on Feline.. Was that really her name? The songs her magic made, it made him think of names far better suiting her beauty. The songs of the other girl were equally as beautiful, but he didn't know her name.
"H-hello again," he said hoarsely, peaking through the bars. There she was, in all her majesty. Her wings... They were what made the magic sing, he could feel it... And her eyes.
A carrier sack held his equipment, the leathers oiled, the clothes cleaned.. Why would they do this for him? Was he not an enemy? An enemy made of pure rage... unbridled, unwarranted. He resented losing control, but, the lack of his connection with his home was truly wearing on him. Already his fur was losing it's brilliant orange, fading to a smoky gray. He was a dead king now. He sighed, knowing that even if he should return, his people would not accept him.
The food smelled amazing, and his gaze was then brought to the other girl... Another feline, but on more human in appearance. Her snowy white fur, thick, plush, and looking ever so soft... the food was in her hand, and just the thought of it made him realize his hunger. it had been three days since he snapped at that guard, and since them the only thing coming through the door was a pitcher of water, every morning while they thought he was sleeping.
Still, he deserved what he had gotten so far.
"My dear, you honor me with your presence," he flinched hearing common come out far to flourished, his Rakshasan accent heavily coated around it. "Also your hospitality, even to one such as me, is undeniably the best I have had since before my travels in Faerun." A smile, obviously too wide crossed his mouth, and only in his eyes one would be able to tell that it wasn't a gesture of hostility.
"Please, who is your friend?"

But it is really gone from me?

Do I control the blades in my hands?

They had made it only a short distance, but they were too far from the temple and had to stop. The rain came down hard and fast, too cold and bitter to travel through.The jungle terrain was muddy and thick, making it stupid to venture anywhere but a short distance.
Luckily Storm found a small hollow, on a high ledge you soft moss, a roof of broadleafs above it. He led Cressa to it, but there really wasn't all that much space.
"I guess we will have to snuggle," he said with a smile as they stepped up.
the rain drummed hard above them, the sky dark but lighting as bright as day in the midst of this tropic storm. The leaves provided adequate shelter, the moss making it comfortable. The wall of trees half encircling them kept the wind out, and it somehow seemed to be made into a perfect shelter.
A familiar symbol caught his attention, carved into the wood, and he knew this was the work of a Ranger.
They sat in one another's arms in silence, listening to the music of the storm, the rhythm of the wind and the rain, and to each other's heart beats, strong and warm in their secluded hollow.

Or do they control me?

"Why is that?" Alexi asked. "You seem pretty nice to me. After all, you're tolerating me, right?" She laughed. "I think I am gonna go look for him though...or at least go and see if Total's back...."

It shocked Feline how dull his fur had become. She remembered bright orange tufts poking out amidst the blood and mud that had covered him that night, but as she look upon him now it seemed to have dulled verging on grey. A little of that could be explained by the fading sunlight that was being devoured by dark heavy clouds by the second, but not all.

His eyes though, his eyes still glowed orange with an inner power that had not been dulled by the hardships he had endured. When they locked onto hers for a second, it felt like the world dropped out from underneath her, she was only saved by him glancing back at Meta and her glorious tray of food.

Feline’s wings fluttering were the only thing that betrayed her heart still feeling like it was doing a free fall from unknown heights.

When he smiled she could not help but smile back. There was an odd innocence to it that shone through his eyes, which most would not expect to see from such a great warrior.

Rain had begun to pour outside.

“This here is Meta. She’s a wonderful cook.” Feline said, her common sounding stilted as ever. She didn’t know if she’d ever really get used to talking in this manner.

Turning to Meta she continued the introductions, “Meta this is…” She paused there and realized in embarrassment that she had never asked the man his name or properly given hers. She was sure that he had heard the guards say it, but her advisors would have beat her senseless if she had made such a mistake at home.

She felt heat crawling up her breast which quickly traveled to cover her face. “Sir, my apologies, but I believe that I have been lax in my manners. I find myself woefully ignorant of your name.” She ducked her head slightly trying to hide the blush.

“My name is…” She paused and purred melodically with a slight growl at the end, “The people here have been calling me Feline because it is easier, but you can call me whatever you prefer.”

She dared look up at him, despite the blush that surely covered her soft furry cheeks, “May I have the honor of knowing yours?”

Her true name did not betray the whistling song of her aura, But sang aloud with it. He smiled, Repeating it, his voice deeper and stronger, but hoping it wouldn't affect or mar the name. He smiled again.
"My Name is Gwarniskal'del Ul'Moutroth," he said, the words gliding skillfully from his tongue, much like the purring sound of the affectionate girl's.
"But Many would simply call me Gwarn for short."
His stomach growled, and although he had been ignoring it, he knew it was obvious to the girls behind the door.
perhaps would allow him to step outside of the cell, if not then at least let them inside he thought to himself.

But it is really gone from me?

Feline rolled his name around in her head and found it fit him well. Shifting the bag holding his gear a bit as it bit into her shoulder, she was trying to figure out the best way to give it to him when she heard his stomach growl loudly.

She turned to the guards, “Please open the cell so that we may give him his gear and food.” When the guards hesitated a little Feline half bared her teeth at them. “I have permission from the High Priestess, open it now.”

The older guard shakily stepped forward and put the key in the door. With a sigh Feline stepped around him and finished opening the door and stepped inside followed by Meta. The door shut quickly behind them with a loud thud.

The cell which was already small was pretty cramped with the three of them in there. Feline struggled to get the bag off of her shoulder without inadvertently smacking either Gwarn or Meta. After a little she got it off and handed the bag to Gwarn. When he reached out to grab it their hands brushed and for a brief moment the dull fur on it glowed bright orange.

Meta followed Feline through the halls of the basement, eager to meet another of her kind.

What she saw made her eyes go wide.

This man had been a magnificent specimen of... to her, he looked like a Feral, but when she saw his eyes she knew he never had been. His fur must once have been as bright as rust on an old Portal opening. He was badly hurt, and he mustn't have eaten for days. (She'd have to talk to Lorika-sama about that.)

She held a moment's silence while Feline got the guards to let them in, pulling her cuff-earring back into place.

Finally, the doors opened and she squished herself and the platter into the tight cell.

"Hello, Gwarn! Your name... is very interesting, in its pronunciation. At the same time, it both hits and rolls off the tongue. Very Tropic-Tigran."

She stopped herself, looking away with a sheepish smile. "I'm sorry, I went off on a linguistic tangent again. I just LOVE studying dimensional differences in--"

Meta caught herself, eyes widening for a moment, and she clenched her left hand tightly on the tray. For a moment, she seemed to be in great pain.

Only missing that beat, she started anew. "I didn't make a formal introduction. I am Mettanere Burobel of the Natikama clan, of the tribe of Kharpo-Khang. I am pleased to meet you. Now that's overwith," she said with a fangy grin, "tell me two things: one, what you want to try first from this platter here, and two, once you're done, where the heck you're from, because I sure as heck haven't seen someone so strongly Tigran from here in... well never, actually."

Placing one last box on top of an already tall stack, Coline breathed out a wistful sigh. She hadn't been keeping track of the time but, strangely, it didn't feel like much has passed at all. Jessie's presence and the small sweet exchanges they'd make from time to time made such a tedious task rather enjoyable. And boy, does time fly when you're having fun.

A small giggle escaped her lips. This reminded her a lot of build missions she participated in during the war. What ever happened to all those latrines, she wondered?

That sudden explosion was hardly unnoticeable, and her head snapped towards the direction of the sound, hand immediately reaching for her weapon. What was that? This question was soon answered by a beastly roar emanating from the cave entrance, and within seconds this... this thing was looming over them. Her eyes widened in horror and she couldn't help but take a few steps back, trident now held in front of her in its usual defensive position. She could feel something inside her build up, and soon the air enveloping her started to stiffen.

[Defending Aura]

Coline could feel her heart beating through her ears as she stared into its beady blood-red eyes. It was like an image straight out of someone's nightmare. Was this thing even from Gaia? She shook a little as the toad-like creature bellowed, frozen in place despite her able stance. But a sudden movement from the beast brought life back to her limbs and her grip tightened around the trident's handle. This was it. It was going to attack.

...Or so she thought.

"Huh? What?" she blurted out, turning to the drow in a sort of puzzlement. It took her a good minute to gather her thoughts and finally make sense of his words. Coline lowered her weapon and her stance, along with the stiff air surrounding her, soon relaxed. "Oh... Y-Yes, of course." she finally answered, albeit a little skeptically. Was it really safe to be around... whatever this thing was? Casting the sulking creature a wary glance, she slowly paced forward to stand by the Captain's side.

Taking the girl's hand for an encouraging squeeze as she approached, the drow turned to make introductions. "Coline, this is Corie. She's Cressa's familiar - that is, she's bound to serve her. Corie... this is Coline."

"The kalye'chev," the bird-turned-monster, or rather monster-turned-bird, mumbled. The creature's powerful muscles undulated as she shifted around a little, before reaching out to offer one gigantic hand to the girl - the tip of one finger bigger than Coline's head. "A pleasure to meet you. I apologise for my rude entrance - however, I was instructed to frighten the living daylights out of the pair of you, and so was merely fulfilling my duty."

The evil grin returned to the toad-beast's face. Yes, she'd go with that, not mentioning how very enthusiastically she'd been willing to go about her orders.
