She shuddered as wounds closed, some that would have been life-threatening had they not been healed.
"Apparently I've angered another group of supernatural beings."
Never a moment's peace, never a moment of rest.

The door came open and Remus practically scrambled inside. Outside the door of the tavern cameras flashed and a horde of reporters were screaming his name, asking various questions. His two robots pushed the crowd back and Remus ordered them inside. The door was quickly slammed in the media's face.
Remus walked over to the bar and ordered a drink. He took a few deep breaths before calming down.

"What happened this time," Zach asked, able to hold a conversation now that the worst of Emma's wounds had healed. "And what are those out there that you were fighting?"

"Hellions; they were human once, long ago. As to the reason why-" she raised her left hand, the gold encircling her ring finger also covered in blood.
"I just wanted to get married."

"What, they attacked you during your wedding or something?" Zach was confused but the look on his face was still one of determination. He was going to heal Emma.
"Why don't you ever ask for help? It's getting to be ridiculous at this point."

"No. They are attacking because I already have. They view our union as...dangerous."
As to her reasons for not seeking aid, in her mind at least, there were none who could help.

Remus sipped his beer. His sensitive audio receptors picked up on Emma's and Zach's conversation. Hearing other people's problems often helped him forget his own.

"Well that's tough for them," Zach said, lowering his hand with the feather. He was exhausted and had done all he could for Emma. She was nearly 100% again, with the exception of a few minor cuts and bruises.

"Thank you." she whispered as she sank into a booth, leaning back against the interior with a sigh.
Physically, she was healed.
Mentally and emotionally were another story.

If he could have healed her mind as well he would have. Instead he just sat down on a chair and rested his head in his hands.
"Seriously," he said. "You've got friends here who'd be willing to help. I like to think we leave our disputes in the Battledome."

"If I have my way, there will not be a need."
The nobles of Bainbridge had a plan. It would take some time to implement, but they had a plan.

"Oh yeah? Well that's good," Zach nodded. "I think."
He yawned widely. After the healing Zach just wanted to curl up and sleep. However, he had just got up and leaving in the middle of a conversation was rude."

Emma leaned over and brushed Zach's shoulder with her fingertips, sending a wave of energy down into him. "Just my way of giving thanks."
She spread her hands apart and a fine lace of violet light formed between them, a spell under construction.

"No problem," Zach smiled and sat upright. Ivan felt the energy and woke up. He had spent the last couple of days like Zach did: Sleeping.
What's she doing? What's going on?

Far to the north, in the depths of the Bainbridge estate, Hrothbert of Bainbridge came hurtling around the corner of the laboratory, already drawing up his power. His half of the enchantment linked into Emma's the moment they sensed each other, and the true magnitude of the spell became visible at last.
The lab was covered from ceiling to floor in layer upon layer of runes and spellfire, predominantly in silver-blue but with heavy amounts of violet mixed in.
It had taken weeks to put together, each chain of sigils having been laid on separately and with great care.
Emma took a deep breath, the web between her hands representing a link to the greater spell.
