"Right, just like that... although don't bend your elbow so much on the upswing. ...And kick your legs, too. That you can do without hitting me," she laughed. She thought he was doing rather well for a first real swimming attempt- Avery seemed to be a quick study. For all she knew, however, this was all futile- perhaps the animal he was turning into would be an adept swimmer, and come to it naturally. Emelyn didn't know. ...But she certainly wasn't willing to bring that opinion to light.

Avery was a quick learner with physical activities. If you sat him down with a book, however, you wouldn't be able to get him to pay attention for longer than ten minutes. "Ah, right, I keep forgetting about the legs." He kicked his feet in the water a little and continued to move his arm, making sure to not bend his elbow as much as he had been. Well, this is just dumb... it's easy, why didn't I just try it before? Avery thought.

"Alright, you're doing great! You've got good natural buoyancy. Do you think you could put it all together if I let you go? Oh, and I almost forgot- you put your head to the side away from whatever arm you currently have over your head while you paddle. That way you can still breathe. So it's alternating left right, left right. Got it? Think I can let you go?"

Avery laughed. "Well, that's important information! Alright... I think I'm good to try it out know. This is pretty easy... I'm ready."

"Alright... bon voyage," she said laughingly, and dropped her hands out from underneath him, ducking away as she did so.

Avery couldn't sync up moving his head in the correct direction as he moved his arms at first, but he got the hang of it after he slowed down and took a moment to think. Left, right, left, right... well, this isn't so hard at all! He wasn't quite sure how to quickly change directions, so after he swam out a little, he stopped and waded in the water for a moment (like Emelyn had taught him to). Avery grinned and waved at her, before he swam back over to her, looking a bit smug when he stopped. "I did it! There's probably an easier way to turn while you're swimming, but," he shrugged. "I think I did pretty good!"

"You did better than well- you did amazing!" She wrapped her arms around his neck in a cursory hug, laughing at their success. "Congrats- you're no longer land bound."

"Well, I guess I just had a great teacher!" Avery said, smiling happily and then hugging her around her waist. "Really, thanks for helping me out. I'm sure Rex will be surprised when I tell him!" he grinned.

"Any time, Ave," she said, letting go of the hug. She took a deep breath and winced against the onslaught of the sun.
"Now if you excuse me... I think I'm going for a little diving. I'm hoping to learn more about the area," she explained, making sure her goggles were secure on her head- she didn't want to lose them.
"Take it easy, Avery." She said, before diving neatly beneath the waves, kicking out to the ocean deep.

"Alright then - have fun, Em!" Avery said, waving to her before she dove underwater.
He made his way back to shore, picking up his discarded clothing. He decided to leave them off, and he went back to his duplex for another shower to wash off the sand and saltwater in his hair.

New RP
This, now, was all right. Warm morning sun, a full stomach, and a good book. If the beach was empty, Cass would probably end up kicking off her legs and just flopping down on the sand without them. As useful as they were, they got a bit uncomfortable.
She stretched, rolled her neck, and gave herself a shake that left her feathers inadvertantly fluffed. Now, she needed a good patch of sand, maybe a bit of driftwood to lean against, and Cassidy would be quite oblivious to the world around her. A little escapism never hurt anyone, right?
Better not have.
Cass looked around, her tongue flickering.

Antony had been surfing since sunrise, in a much better mood after an afternoon with Jamal. She was even pleased to find out that those three tails aided her balance quite well.
Therefore, the tattooed woman was in a lovely mood when she came sauntering out of the water. Seeing an unfamiliar woman just up the beach, Antony veered towards her after scooping up her bag and towel.
Might as well meet people while she was in a good mood right?
Board under arm, she stopped in front of the feathered and scaled and gave a sweeping wave in greeting after dumping her bag on the sand. "Hello," she greeted, shoving her board into the sand so it would stand upright on its own. Towel was now making its way over her body as she dried off. "I'm Antony..."

"I'm Cassidy. Hi." Cass grinned. She clutched her book and wobbled on the sand, and her tongue gave another curious flicker of its own accord.
The tattoos actually caught her attention before before anything else. Absolutely gorgeous, especially the left sleeve. Not her thing, maybe, though she'd always been a bit tempted.
She was staring. Oh, hell. What a way to make a first impression.
Wait. That was rather more than the usual number of tails, wasn't it? That had to have hurt like anything.
Hoping to distract from her brief tattoo fascination, and definitely hoping Antony wouldn't take it badly, Cass said, "You surf?" An obvious question, perhaps. "I always wanted to try that."

"Pleasure," she replied, raising an eyebrow as the woman continued to look at her tattoos, but simply smiling and taking the impressed expression as a compliment.
"Yeah, picked it up back around high school," Antony grinned, rubbing her board fondly in an almost caressing fashion. "It's fun once you get the hang of it. I could teach you..."
Her eyes caught sight of the artificial legs and she immediately trailed off, suddenly very interested in drying off her hair with the towel. "Eh, maybe knee boarding if you're up for it."
Wow, she was in a pleasant mood today.

"Knee boarding might be a little more my speed," Cassidy admitted, with a small laugh.
For now, it might be. Ugh. Don't think about that.
"Forgive me, really, but your tattoos are so nice. I think I might be a little jealous," she added, rather embarrassed. She could see the fur growing up over Antony's shoulders; it seemed an awful shame, after all that work.
She squinted, and ventured the question that most people with tattoos get tired of hearing: "Did it hurt?"
