And Piper was not liking this more and more...after all, so many things could branch out from these little facts. The underdark had been a place that she had learned that she didn't need to be terrified of, it was safe to a certian extent. But when danger was in your own home right under your nose, it did have a tendency to unsettle. It was especially frightening since she had just personally seen Broog no more than a few days prior to this. In thought of that, her hand came up to let fingertips touch at the metal of her collar which he had more or less just fixed. But as she was looked to for salvation, even the one who looked for it could see that she wouldn't be dispensing any. To do such things was not going to be forgivable even by her, for he had put her children in danger. But attention was brought to her husband. "Quite, I would be wanting one, but first," looking to Malikhai, "Go get out of that armor and get cleaned up," Thusly adjusting her hold on Dhairiss and turning slightly narrowed eyes on Malik. "Well?"
He nodded to his mother, not sure how things were right now. He was upset about earlier and even more so now with the light of the informaton he had just learned. A look to his father slightly before he turned on his boot heel to do as his mother told him...and then he was going to go to bed...then talk to Zykariel in the morning.

"I took him with me to dispatch of the bulk of your horse thieves. A few got away, but not without injury. mostly I just didn't feel like chasing them farther then I did. I supposed that'll help with keeping them down for awhile, word of mouth and all. though judging from the ones we took care of, it was not the main camp. more like their own little side camp. far too loud and noisy to be any kind of experienced. and you have to have some experience to try and catch a Nightmare."
A slightly sheepish grin.
"well...he performed well, with precise skill and stroke. no one offered him much resistance, but those that did didn't last very long. maybe a handful of seconds. it needed done, and I thought he'd be old enough for it. I was younger than him when I first saw battles."

He was trying to make it less than it was and leave out important detils, like to have that much blood on them both and in that particular spatter, there had to be killing involved. Did not particularly enjoy that thought at present time. But she probably didn't need to tell him that because he already knew. "Yes you were younger than him but need I remind you, you were brought up in a different world than him. We both were. You were off maiming things, I was just starting into a skewed view of our own kind." Which she still had but that wasn't what this was about right now. "Just remember he's not us and it's not as easy and clean cut as it is for the both of use to deal with. Feel it out on your bond and you'll see." Shaking her head lightly. "Come on...let's go to bed. That's enough excitment for today..."
He was up dark and early today, having not really gotten too much reverie. He would be so glad when he was old enough to control it...then he wouldn't have to toss and turn around in his bed. Sitting up in bed, he got himself dressed and the like before picking up his linkstone and contemplating it a moment before activating. "Zykariel, you up?"
Piper shifted in bed, tightening her hold on her youngest son whom was in reverie between her and her husband, the litttle elf curled up happily in his spot in the middle of the bed. He hadn't gone down easy and what with things being a little hectic in the house at the moment with suspicision everywhere, she had just found it easier to put him in bed with them. Malikhai could defend himself if need be, but Dhairiss couldn't.
Sevilin had been awake for quite a while after recieving a message from Malik the night prior. This wasn't a good thing at all and at present he was thumbing through a rune book, refreshing on what runes that he would need to do such things. One of those tucked in the back of his head runes that needed looking up from time to time. A look to Zahara, "Did Piper tell you about this horse thief thing? May be bigger than just that..."

He felt the linkstone his father demanded he take everywhere vibrating in his pocket and soothed Destyny, setting aside her grooming brush, before pulling it out in time to hear his friend's voice. Chuckling for a moment, he nodded. "I'm always up before you, D'vinn." Though he hesitated a moment as he sensed a thread of...something in his friend's voice. "Malikhai, what's wrong?"
Zahara was halfway through repairs on her youngest's clothes. How that child managed to tear his pants and tunics when he wasn't even walking, she'd never know. Of course the girls' clothes went through wear and tear and Zykariel and Sevilin's moreso but Kelligrin had entirely too many clothes in the repair pile in her opinion. She'd been in reverie when her husband had gotten the assignment from Malik and had continued in after he'd left the bed. Her plan to separate herself from Kelligrin hadn't worked out as well as she'd planned since he still couldn't control his reverie. The majority of her evening had been spent soothing his fussy bouts and she'd finally fallen into bed, exhausted. Frowning, she glanced up at him. "Horse thief? Someone's stealing my horses?" Her eyes narrowed and anger filled her. How dare someone take what wasn't theirs and why hadn't Piper told her?

He rolled his eyes to the air...yeah he should of known he was asking a stupid question, Inthara's were always up with the proverbial sun. "Yeah I should know that by now." Laying on his back on his bed, he was staring at the ceiling, one leg and one arm dangling off the side of his bed, fingers scratching at Yinn who was curled up beside his bed. Malikhai sighed, trying to figure out how to work this way. "You ever think about literally killling anyone?"
He studied a page for a few seconds before he flipped it and continued on in his book as at the same time he was making means to get ready to leave. "Well, that and it seems that there's some unrest among the hierarchy over there. Horse thieves usually don't need calvalry spears. Those are for charge in battle, not for stealing horses or even fending those off that are trying to keep you from stealing them. So I have to go do some in house investigating."

Zykariel waited anxiously for an answer, boosting himself onto the tack table that was sitting in the middle of the stables. Destyny whinnied lightly and he curled his fingers into her fiery mane. His friend's question caught him off guard and he paused for a moment. "We beheaded some of those things that came at us but that was in an illusion so not really the same thing." He shook his head, "It's not something I like to think about. What's got your mind on that so early in the morning?"
She frowned, listening and going over what she knew in her head. Piper hadn't told her about the thieves and that was going to need an explanation. As for the other tidbit, "Malik fears an uprising against his House?" That was scary in and of itself. Truthfully the Intharas were a part of the D'vinn house even if they didn't claim the name and kept their own. They'd stood beside each other in more battles and times of triumph than she could recall. Their children had played together since birth and would stand to fight many more battles together as time wore on. "I'm coming with you then." Setting aside her mending and moving to get her boots. "Zykariel can stay with the children."

"No I meant like people, not creature things." Giving a sigh and rolling his eyes down to Yinn before back to the ceiling once more. He might as well just get on with it, say what needed to be said and get it off his chest. "Okay, so yestderday...I killed a bunch of people..." And what more was there to say about that? He wasn't really sure.
"An uprsing against his house, from perhaps inside his house. Not good news." Thusly closing the book and setting it down, turning his attention to her as she set things side. Oh that would perhaps be a fight from the boy, unless he didn't give him a chance to fight. Waiting for his wife, they both made thier way downstairs and out to the little stable by the house. "Zykariel, you have to watch your brother and sisters. We have to go over to Twilight."

Zykariel hardly got time to respond to Malikhai's words when his father appeared. "I-okay." A glance at his mother who didn't look happy and then over to his father who, like always, was calm and collected. Nope, no fight this time. Malikhai's admission and his parent's need to head over there combined to give him a pretty good idea that something was wrong. "Take care of her." Nodding to his mother and tugging gently on Destyny's lead rope, leading her to her stall. Once she was stabled, he headed for the house, checking on all his siblings and shoving the playpen bearing his youngest brother into the living room where he could flop on the couch. "You killed yesterday? Who? Why? Khai, what's going on?"
She gave a nod to her son and watched him until he went back into the house. "If there's thieves afoot, I need to get all the horses stabled. I'm not taking any chances. Faete is a Thoroughbred and there's far too much steel wrapped up in them to let them be stolen away." Stepping outside the stables, she blew out a shrill whistle and then waited as her own mini-herd came galloping over. It took a good fifteen minutes before they were all munching in their respective stalls and she locked and runed the stable doors, just in case. "Alright. Now that my babies, both horse and elven, are safe. We can go." Thus latching to her husband's waist and preparing herself for translocation. A moment later she was striding through Twilight's hallways, searching for the mistress of the manor. "Find her and tell her she has company."

He was a bit worried by the pause his friend had taken after his words and he frowned at the ceiling...not quite sure anymore if this wsa a good idea to do something such as thus. But then his friend's voice came back over...and well he didn't like the tone particulatly. "Yeah I did...well you see there were these horse theives...and if something permanent wasn't done then they could of caused a lot of problems for both our families. Dad had me go with him and well...it all kind of happened really fast..." Not fun right now.
He let her get her horses together before takign them both to Twilight and heading off to find Malik. After all, he pretty much guessed that Malik should be up by now if there were things going wrong in his house. If not, well then he'd probably be around his wife.
Piper was not a happy person having to get up, having to deal with Dhairiss all night whom had just quietly gone down for an extended period of time. When he shared the bed with his parents, she made a point of not to have him keep Malik up when he was fussy somewhat and thus she tended to him. But now...she was up. Normally no one would of woken her up, but it was Zahara who was doing the requesting. Thusly she had slipped on her robe over her nightdress she had worn for the evening, picked up a still out of it Dhairiss and let him reverie against her shoulder as he came down to see Zahara, still very tired herself. "Didn't expect to see you today."

"Horse thieves..." No wonder his mother had looked so pissed off. "Then you did what you had to do and thieves don't deserve to live. It's the law of the Underdark, Malikhai. You know that. Although, I've never actually killed anyone so I don't know quite what you're feeling. I'm guessing it's guilt."
Zahara felt little sympathy for Piper since she'd tended to her own last night. Of course it probably hadn't taken as long to get Kelligrin and the girls settled as it had Dhairiss but she had a bone to pick and a once fussy but now in reverie little elf was not going to stop her. She did keep her voice down but it was still hard and full of anger. Sevilin had taught her that she didn't have to yell to express her anger. "I'm betting not since you chose to omit something very important from our conversations. Horse thieves? Were you planning on telling me at any point?"

"Yeah I know, it's just kind of weird that I did it and all you know? I mean, never done that kind of thing before and it never really crossed my mind of ever doing so. Dad was just like 'let's go' and I just followed along and did it. It's a weird feeling...don't quite know whether to be happy about it or upset. I guess guilt is a good word."
"We've had them before Zahara and we've delt with them before, I didn't think it too much a big deal to place as urgent news to forward striaight to you. It was just two days ago that I found out for sure myself, and just yesterday it turns out horse thieves are the least of our worries."

"Yeah, I don't know how I'd react in that situation. Probably the same way you did." He was quiet for a moment thinking about running his polearm through the creatures the way he had during the illusions and trying to imagine actually going through with a killing move that he'd half performed countless times during practice battles and such. The combined result was quite unpleasant. "This is one of those things that you have to do at some point and no matter what you do will stick with you a long time. I'm sorry man."
That sounded like the 'you're just overreacting' speech and Zahara hated those. "Two days ago? I was here yesterday, Piper. What if they had hit my herd next? What if Zykariel had been in the stables at the time when they tried?" A shake of her head, "I understand that you have other things to worry about and the horses aren't as important to you but they are everything to me. You should have said something. Now what needs to be done in regards to this potential uprising?"

"Yeah I know, just thought that it would be one of those things that came when someone was trying to get at me, or there was some kind of mass scale thing going on. Didn't think it would come in the form of perserving the House from horse theives and as a father-son outing." Sighing and flipping over to rest on his stomach, switching the hand that was dangling over the bed so he could continue scratching at Yinn who was purring by this point. "So yeah...I'm kinda bummed out...not to mention there's other stuff going on. You know I have a guard posted at my door?"
And Zahara was pissed, somehow though she figured she would be, though Piper narrowed her eyes at the particular insinuations that Zahara was making toward her. "Are you saying I don't give a damn about those horses? I find that insulting. I care about those horses just as much as you do. I felt no need to mention anything on something I had under control already. It's not like anyone know's where the hell you live anyway, Sevilin's made sure of that." Shaking her head and patting at Dhairiss' back as he shifted a made a noise at irritated voices. Piper took a moment to check herself, not wanting to wake up the little elf that she held. "I don't know about the uprising issue...Malik's been handling it since yesterday. All I know is that we're still looking into things..."

Malik got himself up, and dressed, and wearing his armor sans helmet. no one was going to try and get past him without a serious fight. Malvolence strapped at his hip, and even a very nasty looking dagger on the other.
though Piper was right. the world he had come from was different. kill or be killed didn't really apply so much here as far as inter house conflicts or skirmishes. there just wasn't as much of it as there might have been in a tighter, much more violent society.
But he went downstairs, glancing between Piper and Zahara.
"I take it Sevilin is here? where is he?"

"Yeah, that is a little odd..." He agreed, tossing the toys back into the playpen that his little brother was having a great time tossing out. He squinted as a stuffed bunny hit him on the head and threw it back in, bonking Kelligrin on the head as well. "I can understand that. But you get to mark down something that I haven't done yet? Go you..." That wasn't really worth the celebrating that usually would be occurring though. "I'm babysitting, care to switch?" Thoug he frowned, "A guard? Is it really that serious? My parents just went over there and my mom looked pissed."
"No, that's not what I'm saying and you know it Piper. I'm referring to the income that is gleaned off of those horses." Everyone knew the D'vinn's would never lack for anything. They had more steel than they could spend what with trading set up on Andal and Piper being a royal and Malik himself stealing from every b*****d he'd ever killed. "That income is important to me and my family." Rolling her eyes, she shook her head, "He's paranoid. But that doesn't excuse it. I was here in the flesh yesterday and you didn't even casually mention it and we both have linkstones. I just want to know when these things happen even if you already have it taken care of." Looking into things was never good..meant you didn't know a damn thing. "Well, I'm here to help with whatever I can. I've got my horses locked away so the bastards can't make another run and Zykariel is watching the kids at the house. It was tempting to bring them..."
