I know there was the suggestion for Kin being another Intell officer. Or for Ed being the perpetual rookie pilot. Although he's also welcome to help out in the sick bay taking rectal temperatures for all the male crew members. ninja

That's seriously...really horrible. gonk
I'm not necessarily with Stream in advocating that you just exclude your aunt from your ceremonies, but...you know, you should tell her that what she said really hurt you. Sometimes, people don't realize how hurtful the things they say are.
And it might just be the way your family is. I know that, with my family, post-secondary education is still a big thing, especially on my mom's side. (My dad's side has a few people that went to grad school, I think.) It sounds like part of it is that it's just routine to her, so she didn't think twice about cutting you down. But if it's special to you, then no one has the right to take that away, even if they're loved ones.
I honestly am really proud of what you accomplished. You were in...like, community college when the AG first started, and now you're going to grad school? Anyone should be proud of that.

I want to be in charge of any prisoners we take, so that I can torture info...I mean, interrogate them. That was the initial plan. rofl I figured you might be interested, so I put a star next to your name anyway. XD Mala: I'd entirely forgotten about those, they'll be corrected on the main list right away.

And having a pile of stories from past battles.

My idea was, originally, that most of the crew that doesn't pilot handles the major roles. XD The rest perform smaller, easily filled tasks, or ones that depend on certain situations, so they can drop them pretty easily and 'take care of business'.
Of course, that's why we have Zero clones too...

Dr. Fomite LunaInverse People wait in line for over an hour just to get Krispy Kremes in Japan? Maybe it's just me, but I don't think Krispy Kremes are what people make them out to be. Yes, they're good doughnuts, but not worth waiting in a line that long. Yeah. Get it - I do not.
I remember when they first opened a drive-through KK around here and people were swamping the place, backing up traffic in the area such that people couldn't get to their homes or the adjacent shops. It went on for months.
I never even had one until this year. I thought they were really tasty, but then I've had a lot of really tasty pastries with a lot less fuss.Agreed. And I always thought they were sort of... weird tasting. There's this one guy at Diffy's work who is totally badass. He loves Dunkin Donuts though and we don't have them out here. As such, as an extra reward for his badassery, managers are often bringing him Dunkin Donuts whenever they fly in from places that have them. I figure waiting in line for Krispy Kreme seems like waiting in line at a mom & pop place for something they only can make so much of that's really popular. I don't know how much that really goes on, though a couple anime/manga reference it, like Petshop of Horrors. I've always liked a good Mom & Pop place myself.

Shoujo Phoenix Basically, yes. I'm gonna dish out the story now. Keep in mind that I really love my family, I'm close to my mom and my aunt and what they say and have said I take to heart because in my life, they've offered a lot of good words for me and because of that is why I was so hurt by what happened yesterday. You're very mature to still love them despite all of this. It makes it tough when you care about their opinions so much. Shoujo Phoenix Back to the car story, she barraged me with questions in a very harsh Dr. Laura-like way, accused me of not studying enough, wasting my mom's money, and then asked if it was the general GRE. I told her yes, and she told me very bluntly that it is easy, how she passed on her first try without studying so obviously, I have no excuse. Then she sucked any encouragement and excitement out of me by stating basically I wouldn't get into any program with shitty scores and grades like I have. Wow, your aunt must feel very insecure to be constantly having to convince herself loudly how much better she is than you. Shoujo Phoenix Why do I need to know and use words like pulchritudinous or voracious? Voracious seems like an important Stream word. I had to look pulchritudinous up... I think I'm going to use it to compliment people I don't really want to. Anyway, I've always found the standardized tests horribly arbitrary and just a way for the college board to make money and the colleges not to do any work and convince themselves that they're really determining who to admit based on some real metric. ...and despite all that, you still did pretty well. Shoujo Phoenix What also really got to me was the fact that moments before, she was talking about how it would be ok if my brother failed the test the first time around...just because he was bought a preparation book and studied with my aunt. I may not have bought a damn book, but I tried my hardest without one. Besides, who are they to tell me I didn't study? They're not here. I ******** am. If she's so smart, why does she think a prep book is necessary to study? Shoujo Phoenix My aunt and my mom are extremely close. My mom listens to what my aunt has to say so it's difficult to get them to not think alike. I love them both and they both mean a lot to me, but if I disagree with something, at least I'll listen to what they say and try to discuss it from there. I've matured in that area in the past few years. If you're not willing to be open to listen, then what's the point? Anyway, I think where they're coming from is that when I was younger, I didn't like studying and basically got away with it. In a way, I still do, but at this point, I do study. If I have a test in a class, I will study. Ask Marni and she'll say the same thing because she's actually here to witness me putting hours into studying or into homework. I'm not the same person that I used to be. I think in their minds, I still am.
I tried talking to my mom a little, but she told me (in a little nicer and compassionate way) that I didn't study (again, claiming something about me they can't be 100% sure about since neither are here) and how it was a waste of money and how she has to work so hard for it etc. I have an aunt like that. My mother isn't willing to stand up to her for my sake so I hear her vitriol from the both of them. I just walk away these days but I now have the luxury of being independent. For so long I just kept telling myself 'a few more years, a few more years...' Shoujo Phoenix I thought family was supposed to support you but I guess not. You know, media likes to show you that 'oh your parents really are proud of you but they never tell you, just everyone else and one day you'll find out that the trophy your father threw into the river... he went back and got it because he was proud of you being his son, the next king of the cosmos' but I really wonder how true that is for most families.
