Every day after that, all through the spring and summer, Abel and Dorian played secretly in the garden and the woods, neither boys' parents aware of their growing friendship. Dorian was so pleased, he finally had a friend. Abel too was so much happier these days, he didn't even care about the other school children picking on him anymore.

On the last day of summer, just as the sun was setting, both boys were laid in the grass together, staring up at the orange clouds. It was Abel that spoke quietly first.

"Dorian...?" he sounded a little uncertain and worrisome.

"Yeah...what is it, Abel?" He could tell Abel sounded different.

"We'll be friends forever, won't we..?" He had hope in his voice, his heart begging to hear a promise.

"Don't be silly...of course we'll be friends forever. I could never forget you," Dorian thought Abel's question was funny after all this time they had spent together.

"You promise?"

"I promise, Abel," Dorian smiled and reached for Abel's hand, lacing their fingers. "Look there, look at that cloud. It looks like a silly rabbit."

"Yeah...it does, doesn't it!" Abel smiled with his whole heart, so glad to hear that promise.

But later that night as Abel was walking home, a little later than normal, it being almost dark, terrible screams came from his home. He starts running, as fast as his legs could carry, trying to get to his parents.

"Mother! Father!" Abel burst into the house, just in time to see a large, mechanical thing floating right in his livingroom. He let out a gasp, he had never seen anything like it before...it must have been a monster.

"Mother!? Father!? Where are you!?" He was frightened, and his parents came around the corner.

"Abel! Run, darling, run! RUN NOW!" His mother screamed at him, but Abel was frozen.

It was all over in an instant. Abel saw a flash of terrible light, and his parents were dead. He reached his hand out to them, his voice agape in a silent scream. But too soon, they crumbled before his eyes. Everything faded to black.

9 years later, Abel was sitting in the Order cafeteria, munching his lunch. It turned out all those years ago that he had been saved by an Exorcist, and brought to the Order, since he had no other family. He started as a Finder, but when a shard of Innocence was brought back one day, it was discovered that he was the compatible user. He hadn't been an Exorcist for very long, but he was a natural.

This day, exactly 9 years after the death of his parents, he left for a very important mission: Destruction of Noah.
