"Except Kaelin won't know it's you and that could bring about issues with trickery and such. Do not want a woman accusing you of that." A shudder and shake of his head. "It's up to you, Khai, but if you have the power of the name, let it do the heralding for you. Don't throw it around, just let it be announced and then prove your own skills in the ring. You have them. Just have to calm down and remember you are fighting for a title and whatever else you fight to get in the tournament."

Another bite. "But if you want, I'll schmooze the crowd for you. Even your worst enemy would be in love with you by the time I was done. Not to mention the girls..." Punching his friend in the shoulder lightly. A nod to Malik. "Of course. Kicking a** and taking names." He frowned at the sight of the breaker and pushed away his plate. They let that thing come near the table? That was just...gross.

"Not for a long time, Sevilin. As long as we stay on drugs and you don't give me that certain look, I'll be baby free until Kelligrin is older. We'll probably have another someday but that's a ways off." She was rather pleased indeed when he managed exactly what she'd requested and she leaped up into his arms, knowing he'd catch her. "Perfect. Just like you." Thus twining her arms around his neck and giving him an 'I'm so thankful you can shrink, move, and resize trees when necessary' kiss.

It didn't take a genius to know that the man at the table was more than terrified at this point. After all, he was in a bad situation and he seemed to know it...and who knew what else was in store for him. Though her attention came to the doorway as Ryland stood there a moment, givng her a nod and she gave one back. Well, that took care of that for the time being. Back to eating for her and listening to the boys go on about tournament things.

"No that's not what I mean dad. I don't want to be someone I'm not but I also don't want someone to back down from me because of who I am...and that if they do hurt me or they don't lose to me or whatever that you or mom would go after them for it." Holding up his finger to his friend's information then, "And that too, I'm sure she wouldn't appreciate that." Turning a look to Zykariel fully then, "It's mainly for the title in your own competitions or overall champion and bragging rights." Before a chuckle, it was right back to the girls, and he rubbed at his arm shoulder lightly. "If you wanna have your fun have it. You just want to snag some attention to, I know you."

Catch her indeed easily enough, giving her a chuckle before he was hushed with one of those meaningful kisses of hers. "Well then I'll be sure to keep my looks to myself and it's your job to spike the food, not mine." Apparently there was another kid in the future, but for now no more. "And now you have your tree back in the spot you love. Glad I can still impress, though hardly perfect. Just efficent."

"Well, there's teh competiton titles, and the overall title. being champion does grant you special status. many merchants are willing to discount prices so they can claim you buy their wares. there's financial prizes..mostly in the form of coin or trophies."

Malik shook his head lightly at his son.

"Quite the opposite is true, Malikhai. because you are my son, myself a former tournament champion, they will target you more aggressively. they'll want you out of the competition as soon as they can, and take bragging rights in beating you. because they will fear what you might know. what secrets I may have taught you that I used to decimate their fathers before them."
PostPosted: Thu Jul 26, 2007 10:28 am

Zykariel laughed, "I'll get all the attention I need just being at the tournament. Although, if Kaelin's friends tag along you are going to need someone to distract the other ladies so you can have your alone time with her. She's a good girl, Khai. Just your style and don't give me that crap about how you don't have one." Giving him a half grin, "Earn your bragging rights and maybe we can use some of that to get discounts on racing fees. Those are getting more and more expensive every day." He snickered, "Secrets you have taught. As if it's some form of voodoo or something. You handed him a sword and taught him how to use it. Simple as that."

She gave a laugh and nuzzled at his neck gently, "Well, you don't have to worry about that. I've been spiking your food since after Kelli was born. Upped the dosage there when I was on instincts but I think it's safe to bring it back down once again." Glancing at the tree once again, she marveled at what he'd done. "You are far too modest, dear Sevilin. You are perfect, a wonderful example of everything a man is supposed to be." Giving him a grin. "And you're all mine." Though she grinned mischeviously and nodded to the tree. "Think it needs to be christened?"

"Perks of being the best are always a good thing. And hey, anything that can be made cheaper through easy means you might as well take advantage of." Turning a look to his father as he was contradicted on the facts of everything. "I suppose. Though it is silly for them to all instantly think the worst...that's just setting themselves up for a fall from the beginning." ANd a laugh as Zykariel dumbed it all down more or less. Zykariel was much indeed one to be blunt. It was appreciated from time to time and of course continued on the girl talk. "Oh so you're willing to distract the pack of vicious teenage girls are you? You're either brave or stupid...though yeah it would really be nice to cut back that particular fee...do you know how expensive you are?"

"Thought it tasted all a little different." But giving a casual shrug to the information, didn't both him in the least really. Used to such things he supposed and merely giving her a blink and a grin before shaking his head lightly. "I'm not modest, merely as master in my art. What I do doesn't garner the singing of praises because it's no real accomplishment." Not so much modest and in lacking a sense of inflated ego over such things. "You sure about that example? Seems a bit off to me." Watching though that young nature in her bloom across her features as ideas bounced in her head. "You want to christen everything new you get that is useable in such a way."

Malik gave a glance at Zykariel, before going back at his food.

"No secrets, hm? so tell me, Zykariel. when was the last time you shadowstepped, or used a harm touch, or weakened an enemies limbs, or slowed one down. not everyone has access to magic, and especially my brand of magic. most human societies outlaw it's use."

though a slight grin.

"And Malikhai has his own secrets..his own hidden talents and skills that they won't be so quick to counter on thier own. just like you might, Zykariel, if you paid a bit more attention to your scholar studies rather than throwing everything aside for a horse race. and before you give me that look, I know it's important and something fun to do and make money at. but you have to balance it with your other studies."

Zykariel turned to his friend and shook his head. "Holding out on me, are you? Well, see if I fight you when I finally get rid of my riggety friggin' staff." Looking slightly affronted but all in play. He was already rolling his eyes at Malik. "How much did my dad pay you to tell me that, hmm? Truth is, I already know all that. I know about balance and all that other crap but what good is a long life if you can't have fun with it?" He finished off his plate and shoved it away. "And I do exactly what I'm supposed to do. Eventually. The care and training of my horse simply comes first. My priorities are in order according to me. Family. Horse. School."

"Oh it does not. You can't even tell when I spike your food, I hide it too well." Giving him a grin and patting his cheek gently. He was funny when it came to his food. Okay, well no accomplishment for him but it was a hell of a way to impress her. He was just silly when it came to all he could do. His sexual prowess was no big thing and he really took the fathering thing hard. "If you're thinking of Zykariel, stop it. You are everything that I need you to be and that's all that matters." Nuzzling him lightly and then giving him a kiss. "So I'm a sex fiend. My many suggestions keep you feeling young and you love every one of them no matter how nonchalant you are or how much you claim otherwise." She paused for a moment and then remembered she'd lost. "Is there something else you'd rather do, my lord?" Semi-submissive look again.

"I'm not holding out on you, we just have a certain set of rules when we start our little bouts. Just so happens those things get excluded out." Shrugging lightly like it was no big deal before blinking at the little blue tipped fingers that were stealing an organe slice from his plate. Eh, he was used to his brother doing that. Though yes admittedly...he had a few things working in his favor that both parents had been teaching him.

"You should start pesting about that. You keep at it and they eventually cave." Flashing a grin to his father...sure it wasn't the way it went really...there was a lot of begging beforehand and then the ultimatum he had been given. But it worked out...eventually. And again with trying to lecture his friend...he didn't see the point. Zykariel did what Zykariel wanted most of the time. "What? Girls aren't on that list?"

Piper propped her elbows on the table, resting her chin on the back of clasped hands. "You know Zykariel...if you are serious about racing, you should try a race against me." Giving the boy a smile...hell, Piper started those races and set the tracks, times, and all other aspects of them then had handed things over to others. If anyone was a challenge, she was. "Might learn you a thing or two." Before looking to her youngest who was stealing orange slices. "Oranges over apples today Dhairiss?" Regarding the untouched apple slices on his plate.

"Yes it does too, I pick up on these types of things. You just think you're slick. Though you do have Zykariel baffled." Well well, she could see right through him now couldn't she? Then again she had always been able to. "Expectations are always hard to live up to, no matter who is doing the expecting." Shaking his head lightly before letting her nuzzle and kiss at him, giving a chuckle as she continued. "Yes because you focus on my age, right? And stop that, you're making me...weary." Authority had never been his thing, whether giving or receiving really. "Come now, you know I live to see you smile and keep you happy."

"He doesn't have to pay me to say it. because you are in for a soon to be rude awakening. and I think it's going to be absolutely priceless to see the look on your face when it happens, so I plan to be there for it."

finishing off what he had, before taking to some other assorted pastries and food. he'd let Zykariel get the surprise. after all, he'd already entered the young drow into a competition of his own. Not that Sevilin knew that, but that was more to keep the information from Zahara.

Zykariel's competition was also at the Tournament. but it was one for a show of magical talent and scholastic acheivement. a competiton basically against the most studious and promising young wizards, potion makers and lore-masters. It was mostly used for people that wanted to participate in the regular events but couldn't due to various reasons. mostly parental. kids too young to compete. Jiscal however had instituted this competition also to allow magical prowess to be displayed as well as the famous martial displays. Malikhai's own illusion teacher had entered herself in the advanced portions.

which was the back reason why he'd asked Zykariel to attend as Malikhai's herald. for a better excuse to give his parents for attendance.

Zykariel chuckled softly and shook his head at his aunt. "Give me a few more races to win before I take that on though I just might take you up on that offer at some point. Provided, of course, if I lose it doesn't leave our little circle. Can't have my reputation ruined, you know." He glanced at Malik once again and shook his head. "Rude awakening, hmm? Well, if someone tries to snatch my life on the road one day, they'll be in for the rude awakening." Then another Sevelin-esque grin. "My apologies. Horse. Girls. School." He was quickly getting tired of being browbeaten over this subject and if it continued he was calling an early end to lunch. He got it enough at his house.

She gave him a knowing little smile and left it at that. If he could really taste the drugs then she needed to get a little better in hiding them, which shouldn't be too hard, though she didn't want to ruin her desserts. It really miffed her that he took things so hard though and her fingers ran lightly through his hair in comforting motions. It wasn't she who had the expectations he couldn't match but his son. And he didn't even know what those were which made it impossible. Angry youth. Stubborn child. "Not all the time. It's just funny to tease you about being old. In this case I appreciate your age and the vast stores of knowledge that go along with it." She slipped down out of his arms and pushed him back against the tree, moving against him. "Then christen, we shall. And then we'll go fetch our children. Sound like a plan?"

He sighed as he father continued at his friend. Sometimes it seemed like Malik thought he had three sons. Didn't bother him so much personally but he was the one who got dragged off and ranted to by his friend. And then rolling his eyes at his friend who corrected himself. "Ah, so they are in there. Was beginning to think you were a little confused there. That wouldn't be good, it would be too easy to talk you into things then."

"Aw, come now where's the endearing confidence. Though fair enough, I won't let it get out that you lost to a girl and the like." Giving a chuckle, appealing to his teenage fancies and such rather than take him on a true competitor like level. After all, no need to barb at each other and the like when there was no need for it.

He let his eyes slide to her as she took to comforting motions about his person. Really wished he didn't slip like that, just made for bad situations and the like. But as practiced as they were at this, she knew to not focus on such things and merely keep to the little positives. "Oh so now you want to praise the many years I have on you. I see how it is." Giving her a grin as he was pushed back against the tree. "Sounds like a good plan to me. Everyone wins."

Malik glanced at the human again, but only for a moment. he was going to get his soon enough. though a bit more thought as he took to eating more of the rolls and pastries.

"Speaking of horses. I'd suggest keeping yours away from Ramoth for a month after this week. she's coming into heat, and we know how touchy she gets. and with all the praise of her racing skills, I'd rather not see Ramoth go after her."

"My girl is quite the attention-getter," he said, a stroke of pride clear in his voice. "I'll watchher though. It would be awful if Ramoth did go after her and really hurt her. If Destyny can't race then I'm out of the races until Blaize is weaned and trained. Or Darkness." He rolled his eyes at that one. Why his mother let his sister name the new foals, he'd never understand.

Turning to his friend, he quirked an eyebrow. "Speaking of Destyny, want to help me run drills today? You haven't seen her run in a while and she needs a bit of practice on higher ground. I was planning on heading to the cliffs over by Vesendar and putting her through her exercises."

Once they had a definite plan, things progressed pretty quickly after that. An hour later, she was once again satisfied and pulling on her socks sitting on the ground by said tree. Flexing her toes lightly within the bindings, she pulled on her boots and zipped them up then held out a hand. "And now I'm ready to return to my life as a mother. I miss my kids and all the chaos they cause. The house is too quiet without them. Don't you think?"
PostPosted: Fri Jul 27, 2007 4:25 pm

Piper sighed as she got herself up. "Last thing we need is another 'they're going to steal my Serino' train of though." Giving a chuckle to that before walking over to her new...friend...and duely jabbing two fingers into the hole that had been made in his body from her arrow, making him get up and more or less pushing him from the room. "Behave men-folk, I have business to get back to."

Hm, horse breeding season, joy. It was always annoying to him, that horse of his father's got more difficult to deal with...couldn't even get to his own horse sometimes. "If Destyny can't race, we don't get any money and frankly, we'd have less fun." Shrugging lightly before giving a grin to his friend. "Sure why not, after all I have a scoop you may be interested in and such training would thus do you good. Besides, I like to torment you from time to time about these kinds of things."

"I enjoy the quiet, but then again I always have." Shrugging lightly and grabbing her hand, pulling her up to stand next to him. "But fair enough, onto the children. Hopefully they haven't gone about causing abject chaos around the underdark of which there is no correcting and recovering. I wouldn't put it past them." Thusly pulling her along toward Twilight.

Well it looked like lunch was over, and malik let everyone else leave the table to do thier own things while he sat there a few moments longer eating a bit more. hey he liked his pastry goodies. particularly those turnover things.

but before long he did get up, and went to his personal study and took out a small vial and placed some drops form it on a mirror. the mirror darkened, and a small grin formed.

"they are on the way to vesendar. keep an eye on them, as usual. We've hand another horse bandit strike, so take special precautions. no one gets near them that they don't know or can mean them any harm."

of course this wasn't typical..but with teh horse thieves, Malik had ensured that his son and his friend when they went to train the horse would have ample backup if someone tried anything. in teh form of three black skinned droags, trained for assassin work. blend into the area and make sure they weren't noticed and to take care of potential problems before they got near the boys.
