Maven fell fast asleep as her head hit the pillow and she curled up with Vixy beside her on the other pillow. She didn't let Phyra out in case it might've scared Kasiya. However to keep her close connection with her Ponyta she clutched the pokeball close to her. She was tossing and turning as her dreams troubled her.
A younger version of Maven was sitting in a corner of a school ground with a sketch book out. She was looking out into the woods that surrounded the area. She could see the pokemon living in there and was sketching them out. The science fair was coming up and she was excited about her experiment.
She had pulled out a book and started to do some studying on her subject. Mavens eyes shot up as she saw a younger boy come up to her. He had dark sandy hair and bluest eyes. His hair was unruly and got into his eyes. He was of average build for a boy of the age of ten. It didn't take a genius to know he was the most popular boy in the school. He stood in front of Maven and did a half smile showing his white teeth off. "Hey girl stand up." He said and offered his hand.
Maven shocked that he would even talk to her. She knew his name was Blaine and he was a sports player. She kept her head down and stood up not looking directly at him...
Maven whined and tossed again in her sleep. She clutched her pokeball that held Phyra in a hug as the small sounds escaped her lips

Nina waited for Raimundo to catch up to her before taking his hand. "C'mon. Let's go for a little walk to kill some time." He had no objections, and the night was pleasant; it was still a bit warm, but that was to be expected of a summer night. Walking in a direct southern direction from the Gym, he and Nina found themselves walking past the PokeMart. They carried out another conversation which ranged from just as many topics as their previous one had, if not more.
Eventually though, they found themselves talking about Sabrina.
"I never did get to express my sympathy for you," Rai said. "I had heard the news when I was visiting Hoenn, and my mind was racing, trying to think of who it was that I had seen Sabrina with that one time; I mean, I did eventually remember that it was you, but I had figured you were too preoccupied with things like her funeral arrangements, and..." "Oh, uh. Right, the funeral preparations... They weren't what was keeping me busy, actually." "Really? I'd have thought that since that had happened, you'd be--" "I never said I wasn't busy." She sighed. Well, I'd have to tell him this sooner or later. "See, the reason Sabrina had died was because she protected me from an assassination attempt, by a member of Team Rocket. It's because of this incident that I have such a strong hatred for the team, and why I haven't forgiven what Kilik has done to me. And, I went insane and I k...illed... the person who killed Sabrina, and I went after the head of the team, Giovanni. I wanted him dead too, but I failed, and the only reason I'm alive is because Kasiya and my friend Mike rescued me." "If they saved you, shouldn't you be a little more appreciative?"
The girl was getting annoyed. "That's not the point," she snapped. "I didn't want to be saved. I'd have rather gone down fighting for a cause important to me than having people interfere in what I do. See, I don't care if Mike and Kasiya were concerned for me or not-- it was not their affair to be meddling in. And besides which, now Mike's got an ego boost, and he can brag that he held his own against the head of the team who nearly killed me. They shouldn't have ever followed me there." "Oh, so what-- you're telling me that if you were killed, it would have made you feel validated?" "Don't put words into my mouth. I said that I would have rather gone down for my own cause than have people help me to escape from it. I mean, despite the fact that I was temporarily insane, I still went after Giovanni knowing full well what potentially could have happened to me. I was ready to accept any outcome-- except for the one that actually occurred. That damaged my own ego and self-esteem so badly! You'll find that after that incident was when I started declining in my battling abilities, so in a sense, I've got those two to thank for that. I can't even pose a challenge in my own Gym, even WITH powerful Pokemon. It's... Oh my god, I can't even explain it. And, I had thought that I could revive Sabrina by using Ho-Oh, since it carries the Sacred Ash, but if I did that... Ugh, people would have been all, "Oh my god, when people are dead, they're dead! Let them lie, and it was their fault for doing stupid things for you, so it's their fault that they died and THEY brought it on themselves!!!"
It was as if all the things Nina had subconsciously been thinking about were starting to come out now.

By the time Edward had finished his meal and out the doors Mitsu already had her partner of choice out and ready for battle. The loyal Ivysuar seemed bigger than normal, not to which Mitsu had taken any note of. Preoccupied with the flowers Ivy had gathered Mitsu didn't notice Edward in front of her, his hand grasping a red and white Pokeball. "Are we going to have that battle or what, Mitsu?" he asked with a cocky smirk. "Eh?" Mitsu said barely lifting her gaze to meet his, "Oh right." She slowly stood up, taking her sweet, precious time just as the boy had. "I was just, uh, thinking."
In a flash of bright crimson light the sleek looking Furret was out of his Pokeball and looked ready for a fight. He eyed Ivy with distatse before turning his head away. "Your Furret doesn't look to happy about his opponent," Mitsu said switching her eyes from Ed to his Pokemon. "Not that it matters since Ivy's got this one in the bag." Mitsu smiled looking down to her Pokemon. "It's all your's Ivy." Ivy nodded affimatively before springing into action. He unleashed both of hi smooth, olive colored vines and lashed them both out at the brown Pokemon. A well timed, and sharp Vine Whip. The agile Furret, however, evaded the attack smoothly and countered with a Tackle. The attack didn't faze The Grass Pokemon by much, but he could tell the speedy little thing would be hard to hit.
Several sharp green leaves shot forth from the flowering bud in Ivy's back as the Seed Poekmon performed a Razor Leaf attack against Furret. The swift Pokemon was able to dodge all five leaves with grace and ease. The limber Long Body Pokemon threw himself into a Slam attack at Ivy, who unintentionally cringed from the attack. With Furret in close range Ivy took the opportunity to spray the field with his Toxic haze. The purple powder fell onto Furret, poisoning his very being. Not liking the toxins that now coursed though his body Furret countered with a Facade attack. The attack caused extra damage to be done due to the alignment he now suffered. It was not going to be the end for Ivy however, as he began to glow a brilliant green hue that meant he had recovered plenty of his stamina. A perfect Synthesis.

"It's just-- it's not fair! Everybody says how sorry they feel for me and that they understand what I'm going through, but they don't!" Nina continued, removing her hand from Rai's and bringing it to her face. Her eyes started to burn again and they were getting wet. "I've been used to her being gone," she said, sniffling, "but some days it just hurts my heart so badly, Rai, and I take out all my emotions on whoever's near me-- no wonder people hate me! No wonder Kilik was jeering at me in the Gym! No wonder my own Pokemon won't listen to me!"
Her knees buckled and she fell to the ground, holding her face in her hands. She was crying and seemed to be trying to say something, but it came out entirely unintelligible.
Despite the fact that Rai had now seen this side of Nina and had felt the lash of her emotions, he still wanted to help. He approached the girl very cautiously, as a trainer would approach a wild Pokemon in the Safari Zone. And, like a trainer in such a setting, he was unsure how his target would react-- would she run? Would she lash out again? With Nina, it was always hard to tell. He kneeled down and reached his arm out towards her face, gently moving away one of her hands and turning her face to meet up with his own.
"I won't pretend to know what you're going through," he said, "because there's nothing that's happened to me in my life that can come close in comparison. I want you to know, though, that even if you think I won't understand, you can talk to me about it any time you're feeling low. I'll do my best to help you, and if you still choose to push me away, then that's fine. Just... I want you to know that I'll be there." He pecked her cheek and stood up, offering a hand to help her stand.
Nina was silent, and didn't react to Raimundo's hand. She simply looked at it, a quizzical expression plastered on her face. Blink, blink. After some slight hesitation, she made a very slight nod of affirmation, taking his hand with her own, getting to her feet. "D...did you mean that? Everything you just said to me?" she questioned, almost poised to jump away from him if he made a loud noise. "Of course I did," he replied softly, "I wouldn't have said it if I didn't. Contrary to what you might think, you aren't alone, and there are people like me who really do care about you. I won't let you or any of my friends walk alone in this world... okay?"
Nina paused. "...Okay. Thank you, Rai, for being able to put up with me when I'm like this... I promise, I don't usually brood so much." He chuckled a little. "It's alright. Everybody gets a little emotional sometimes, it's only part of being human." A soft smile danced on her face and she took his hand-- before long, they were walking again, heading to the Pokemon Center, as Nina had never healed her Pokemon from the earlier battle.

Cress paced the floor in front of Mai, fear present on his face. A bit of perspiration had appeared on his forehead as he thought of how he could word his findings to the superior officer before him. “It’s just this, Milady. After he evolved into a Kadabra, nearly every aspect of his psychic powers became amplified. I didn’t have the means, or the trust in my peers for that matter, to help him to evolve to his final stage, so I was content to keep him in that form. However, I learned that Alakazam acquired an ability that he could only learn while he was still a Kadabra – Role Play. Now, this is an interesting little trick. You see, it causes the user to copy the ability of its opponent. For example, if Alakazam were battling against your Espeon, and he used Role Play, Alakazam’s ability, Inner Focus, would be changed to Synchronize, which your Serenity possesses, for the duration of the battle. Understand?”
“Perfectly,” Mai responded. “But what I don’t understand is how this is going to help us monitor those children.”
“Well, after I learned about Alakazam’s Role Play ability, I started to ponder what effect it would have on humans. Naturally, I delved into my experiments, and the findings were quite astounding.” Mai raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to continue. The fidgety little doctor cleared his throat before continuing, flipping the pages of his notepad in quick succession. “You see, since by nature, humans lack a special ability, unlike the Pokemon of the world, the effect was, well, rather different. Since there was no ability to be copied, instead, Role Play actually switched the minds of the two subjects completely. My hypothesis thus far is that Role Play allows the subjects involved to effectively role-play as each other. Isn’t it fascinating?”
“Indeed,” replied Mai once more. “So by switching the minds of the two subjects, are you referring to Alakazam and another human?”
“Yes,” nodded Cress, checking his notes. “Ivan was kind enough to volunteer for the procedure, and I believe he had quite the experience being trapped inside Alakazam’s body. You see, since Alakazam expends most of its growth and energy in the development of its brain, it causes a lapse of muscle growth within the rest of its body. Realistically speaking, Alakazam lacks the physical strength to even hold up its own head on its own, instead it relies purely on its own psychic powers to keep its head up, as well move its body. Rather detrimental in the case of a physical powerhouse, like Ivan.”
Mai glanced over at the large man who’d rendered her unconscious earlier, and glared at him. “Serves him right,” she growled, facing Cress once more. “Now how is switching minds with a Pokemon going to help us? No offense, Alakazam,” the admin nodded towards the Psychic-type, who inclined his head slightly. None taken, Milady, Mai heard in her mind.

After the Legendary Bird had left his mind Dante's dreams returned to it's normal weird self. This time he found himself playing checker's with Apollo, who for some reason had a strange accent. When he finally did wake up, it was surprisingly early seeing that there were only a few people up. Yawning he stretched and putting his feet on the ground he was surprised to find, that instead of touching the cold ground there was a big bag. Blinking he reached down and pulled the bag into his lap, it was very heavy and for some reason it made tinkling sounds. Untying the string that held the top together Dante peered inside and was greeted with the sight of what had to be, at least 4K of coin's. Eye's widening slightly at the sight Dante's mind returned to the dream he had last night. It seemed that the Legendary bird really did want to help him out. Looking back into the bag Dante frowned slightly, Zapdos probably found these coin's and took them from the Game Corner. They would probably be suspicious, especially if he showed up with so many more coin's then he had the other day. Closing the bag, his mind working quick, there was absolutely no way that he would be just handing all of these back, he got up and wondered over to the cafeteria and picking up a piece of toast he sat down and started to think about a few things. Once he was done with breakfast, and coming up with a plan he hoped would work, that and he hoped he was a decent actor. Going outside, still in the clothes he had slept in, there wasn't much of a choice seeing as all his things, other then his pokeball's were at the Game Corner. After doing a few thing's outside Dante headed over to the Game Corner a bored expression on his face. Entering in a code, they had told him it last night, he stepped into the building and was 'surprised' to see that a few of the employees and a manager type person were all talking fairly worriedly to each other. Going over to them he raised his hand in greeting to Leon, who was standing to the side. "Good morning, what's going on over there?" He asked motioning to the group.
Leon who had been watching with a blank expression looked down at his 'apprentice' and grinned. "It seems like someone broke in last night and took 4K worth of coin's. They are trying to find out how it happened."
Dante whistled slightly at the number. "4K? Huh, well I wonder if that would explain why I found this near my couch when I woke up." He held up the bag he had found that morning.
When those words left his mouth the room grew silent and all eye's turned to him. "I-is that what I think it is?" The manager said as he rushed over to where Dante stood.
"Umm... There are a lot of coin's in here but even I don’t think it's quite as much as you lost. I would say there are just 2K at the most in here... If it was stolen you can have it back." He offered handing the bag to the manager, who promptly broke into tears of gratitude.
"Hey! How do you know that he wasn't the one who took the coins? I mean there were 4K and now there is only 2K. He might still have them!" A sneering voice said across from them. DANTE'S COIN'S ?/9,999

Cress beamed excitedly as he turned once more to face Mai. “Since my discovery, I have been working on a way to draw out Alakazam’s ability to use Role Play and amplify it at the same time. I’ve created this machine here to do just that.” He pulled the large, white sheet from the contraption, and waved an arm proudly over it. “This piece of work has been months in the making. The testing, tweaking and adjustments have all been completed, and I’m positive that it is ready for its first real assignment.”
“If you think for a moment that I would even consider allowing you to try that thing out on me, you’re even more loony than I initially thought,” Mai growled at him, frowning.
“It works perfectly fine, if that’s what you’re afraid of,” Cress chuckled, once again cleaning his glasses. “The last series of tests I performed were all successful. You’d be intrigued to know, I’m sure, that the last use the machine had was to switch the minds of Ivan and myself.”
Mai stared incredulously at him. “It works human-to-human?” she asked in astonishment. “You actually were in Ivan’s body, and he in yours?”
“That is correct.”
“Excellent work, Doctor,” Mai smiled broadly. “And to think that all this time, I thought you to be nothing more than a raving lunatic. I see now that perhaps there is some potential in you after all.” She could hear Leo’s words in her mind, telling her that some of her subordinates could end up surprising her, and she begrudgingly admitted to herself that he had been right.

Turning to look at where the comment had come from Dante met the man's gaze with a self righteous looking one. "Are you calling me a thief?"
The accuser, who shall now be called Larry just sneered at Dante his dark sort of greasy looking thinning hair covering up some of his large eye's. "Yeah, I guess I am."
Frowning at the man Dante gave him a slight glare. "I don’t know if I can take that sitting back. I challenge you to a pokemon battle, no one call's me a thief and get's away with it!" While this was not part of the plan Dante figured that it couldn't hurt. After all he didn't need to act in a pokemon battle, he just hoped that he was at least somewhat convincing.
"Me battle you? Huh, if that's the way it is going to be kid then fine, I will battle you. But if you lose we get to search your stuff for the coin's that I know you took."
"Fine by me. I don't have the other coin's so there isn't anything I need to worry about. Let's go." He said turning and heading out to the arena. Larry, who just grinned followed him along with everyone else. Once there Missy took her usual spot as the referee and Dante stood on the defending side while Larry stood on the challenger side. "All right, this will be a one on one pokemon battle. Standard rules, fight fair you two. Ready. Set. GO!"
"Let's go Bahamut!" The Vibrava came out with a cry of joy her shell still looking as good as it did when Dante had scrubbed it down the other day.
"Let's show them who they are dealing with Mawile!" A determined looking pokemon with a strange banana mouth and a skirt appeared in the arena. Dante had never seen this pokemon before, though like the nerd he was he had read about it.
"All right, its Dante's Vibrava VS. Larry's Mawile! GO!" DANTES COINS ?/9,999

Kilik looked over at the television, raising an eyebrow. The sound was off, but it appeared to have a large arena on the screen. A Vibrava and a Mawile were now competing in a battle. The boy smirked. "Wonder where that's at?" he whispered to himself.
"Hm?" Nurse Joy looked up at the screen as well, "Oh! That's in Celadon City!" she giggled, "It's a new arena. You can compete for coins. The even televise the events!" The woman smiled brightly, "I think it's free, too..." she whispered. Kilik laughed to himself and found himself staring at the screen again.
That'd be quite an experience - battling in front of a crowd and having it televised? His trademark smirk would be known throughout Kanto by sunrise. Kilik Ranmo slipped his hands into his pockets. "Nurse Joy, I'll see you around," he laughed, "I've got an arena to compete at." The boy walked through the electronic door and into the night, taking a deep breath of the night air. He punched the sky. "Look out!" he smirked.

"Let's move this battle to the water." Mag suggested since they were both using water pokemon. "Okay with us." Linalee replied as Cisashwi bounced over into the cool pond before them. The setting sun reflecting brightly off of the surface of the water. "Now hit Tsunami with a Surf attack!" Linalee ordered. Mag grinned at this strategy.
"Guess you didn't do as much research on Vaporeon, with Water Absorb your attack won't do any damage. But the same doesn't go for us, use your Surf Tsunami!" The water pokemon nodded as Cisashwi's wave came harmlessly over her. Redirecting it, and restoring the original intensity, Tsunami launched it back at Cisashwi. The wave crashed down onto the smaller mudfish sending her reeling underwater for a few seconds. "Oh shoot. Well I guess we'll just use your special move then." Linalee said as she slyly winked at her pokemon and gave a thumbs up at Mag.
"Special move?" Mag questioned as Tsunami looked for the enemy that had dived underwater. But the trainers above couldn't really see what was happening below the water due to the glare of light upon the water. The Vaporeon easily located Cishaswi who was speeding for her at a rapid pace. The two began an elegant underwater chase with Tsunami being the hunted. She had noted a strange appearance on the sleek body of her smaller enemy that didn't look very inviting.

Remembering how well Sand Attack had worked last time Dante decided to start with that move "All right Bahamut, let's use your Sand Attack!" The small dragon pokemon gave a small screech before she started to buzz he wing's as fast as she could generating a gust of sand that hit the Mawile right in the face.
"That's fine with us, Mawile use your Faint Attack!" The Mawile who had been rubbing at her eye's stopped and nodded before fading from view and appearing on top of Bahamut hitting her before disappearing back into the spot she had been in before. "Your going to have to try harder then that you little thief." Larry said with a grin.
"That's ok. I like a little challenge." Dante shot back. Going through his mind Dante tried his best to remember what Mawile was weak against. 'It's a steel type right? s**t I really need a Pokedex.' Adding that onto his list of thing's he needed to do Dante just decided to go with his thought's that it was a steel type. "Bahamut use your Sand Tomb on it!" The small dragon pokemon gave him a confused look, she had never really ever been commanded to use that before. Figuring it would be best just to listen, after all Dante had been nice enough to brush her down yesterday. Flying over the Mawile the Vibrava opened her mouth and sand started to pour rapidly out of it and on top of the other pokemon.
"No Mawile get out of there!" Larry shouted from his side of the arena. It was to late though, the steel type just wasn't as fast as Bahamut was and was soon buried in the sand. It also seemed that Dante's assumption proved right, Mawile was a steel type. DANTE'S COINS ?/9,999

"So, tell me, Rai," Nina said, "you've told me about how you've lived with your mom, and how your dad hasn't... exactly been there. What about siblings? Do you have any brothers or sisters?" He shook his head. "Nah, it's just me and her. She always would talk to me about how she'd wished she had a sibling for me just so that I wouldn't be lonely. I kept telling her that I wasn't lonely and that I was happy with just the two of us. And I mean, sure, Mom had dated a few times, but things never turned out serious. Finally, she just gave up-- she said that I was the only guy she needed in her life." Nina chuckled. "That's sweet. Your mom sounds like such a nice lady-- I'd love to meet her someday." Rai returned the smile. "I've got a good feeling you'd get along with her; you two share some similarities.
"Oh, really? Like what?" Nina inquired. "Like the fact that both of you can be extremely stubborn and headstrong, and don't like it if you don't get your way." She raised an eyebrow. "I can assure you that I've got no idea what you're talking about. Me-- headstrong? I might be a little stubborn, but calling me headstrong's pushing it." He shook his head. "Nah, I don't think it is. If you saw yourself when you were battling back in the Gym, when things turned for Kasiya's favor... well, then you'd agree with me." He grinned playfully, and was on the receiving end of a light shove. "Hush. At least I'm not rude, too, like some peo...ple."
Nina stared ahead as they drew closer to the Pokemon Center, making out a familiar figure against the darkness. "Kilik."

Kilik heard the voice and dropped his arms to his sides, very half-heartedly. He craned his neck and stared at Nina and the other boy. "Oh. Come to ruin my fun?" he growled, crossing his arms over his chest. Kilik wasn't about to stand around and let Nina bad mouth him again for trying to help. He still had plenty of insults to fling if need be. Kilik looked over at Rai, his eyes glinting in pale glow of the street lamp.
"Who's he?" he asked with a quick pop of his neck. Seems like she's suckered another guy, he thought with a scowl. Ranmo shook his head lightly to get his bangs out of his eyes, but it didn't really help.

The two pokemon continued in their underwater ballet, if one could really call it such. Tsunami swum at full tilt to avoid collision with the slightly more nimble (due to her size) Cishashwi. After about a minute of chase and only a few near misses later, the younger Barboach was finally able to land an electified Spark attack into Tsunami, jettisoning the two up out of the water.
"HOLY CRAP!" Mag exclaimed, "What the heck was that." Mag shouted as he looked demandingly over at his opponent. But the blonde girl only giggled. "I'm glad your Grandparents were able to breed in that move for me." Linalee smirked. Of course, it was his Grandparents fault that this pokemon has some freakish move that it didn't normally know. Then again it was their fault that Sunfire had wish too. Tsunami and Cishashwi had at this point gone to a temporary stand off as they both awaited orders from their respective trainers. "Well keep that thing off of you and hit her with another few Surf attacks." Mag said regaining his cool demeanor. "Keep up your assult Cishashwi! Don't ever give up!" Linalee cheered on. Mag sighed, did this girl ever get upset about anything during a battle?
The pokemon moved on from their trainers commands back to the similar battle that had been raging only moments before below the surface. Cishaswi lead her charge as faint cackles of electricity showed along her slender body. Tsunami gracefully prepared an underwater Surf, that turned out as more of a large pressurized bullet than an actual wave, that she sent careening towards her foe.
