The token " beast " team mate that brings diversity into an otherwise all human(oid) hero party. Usually from a small tribe and always reguarded as " the tribes best warrior "... and some how they don't seem too dissapointed in losing him when he joins the party.

one of the hero's allies that have been put under mind-controll. Unfortuneatly for her, the game she's in is more on the cynical side of the sliding scale of cynicism and idealism; this means that there turns out to be no way to release her from the mind controll and she is killed in a battle with the heros. However, when she is near death, she is allowed to die as herself and is free for the last seconds of her life.

The penultimate boss who you can't beat even at lv. 99 that gets killed by the last boss to prove a point.
The last boss is beaten anyway because you know his weakness.

The G-Man.
(AKA the one guy you see everywhere at first, and is creepy as Hell because it seems he stalks you. He even ends up playing a huge part of the story, kinda becoming your 'agent' in the world of inter-dimensional mercenary work.)
