Has anybody had a chance to go toe-to-toe with flyers with their Eldar yet? Any effective counters? I'm thinking about Vibro cannons, since they're supposed to automatically hit everything in their line of fire...

Vibro cannons do not have the "sky fire" rule, however I do not have access to an Eldar codex, so can't wholly comment on this. But Str 4 AP - is not what I'd call a good ack-ack weapon. wink

Also they come in batteries of up to 3, with each additional platform adding 1 to the strength, I believe.

If so, they cannot hit flyers, as only snap shots can hit those and artillery cannot perform snap shots.

Ah, found the 40k FAQ: Quote: Q: Can Vibro Cannons hit Zooming Flyers or Swooping Flying Monstrous Creatures, if the line drawn by the Eldar player touches these models? (p45) A: No. They can, however, hit Hovering Flyers and Gliding Flying Monstrous Creatures. Sorry for bursting that bubble! sweatdrop

I'm not a fan of weapon platform squads anyway. Perhaps some psyker powers for re-rolls or such would help, and then just use massed-fire batteries like Warwalker squads with scatter lasers (a whopping 24 S6 shots for 180 points IIRC) to try and take them down.

If their shots can be boosted with re-rolls I'd say go for it, as only '6's hit when dealing with flyers using non-AA units.

So with semi-official word that the codex update is happening this weekend, what are people excited for with the new book and minis? I'm hoping that they'll sneak an updated plastic kit for some Aspect Warriors other than Dire Avengers, which already have a very good plastic kit.

Am I crazy, or are they charging the same amount for a 5-man repackaged box of Dire Avengers that they did for the 10-man squad before? stare
