Evelyn moved forward and tried to help catch the boy to cushion his fall.

"Relax, garçon--er, I mean Xeiashi. And let me make sure I have all this...Yes, one week. No, I don't have any bread, but I can get some. Yes, books are never far. And of course I have a name. It's Evelyn. Oh, and my favorite color is blue. Did I get everything?"

Evelyn sat down on the mattress next to the boy and put her hand to his forehead to check his temperature. "Are you okay, garçon?"

I don't like to think of myself as "evil," as such...

Cressa sat up a bit at his words, looking about.

"Well..." she answered slowly, sliding over to kiss him "Jessie and his little pet are waiting for us back at the cave..."

She thought for a moment, and then laughed, shifting herself up to sit on his lap and bending forward to kiss him again. "Oh, well. They'll be okay by themselves, don't you think? Let's let them have their alone time."

At that moment, with a great shriek, Corie descended from nowhere, her feet squarely hitting the back of her mistress' head. "OUCH! YOU!"

"They'll never be able to shift the boxes by themselves," the bird chastised, clinging on to the woman's white hair painfully with her feet and flapping "Forget your little plans and go back to help them!"

"You're only saying that because you want to see me suffer, you infernal little wretch!" she screamed, reaching back to disentangle the crow familiar. With her hands wrapped around the bird's body, the naked drow brought her arms forward and smashed her skull against the ground. "If you care so much, you go and help them!"

Cressa blinked, the ingenuity of her suggestion hitting her. "Hey... yeah! Corie! Do you think that little mouse has ever seen an Outsider before?"

The bird stared at her mistress. "Do you really mean...?"

"Oh, yes. Yes, I do," Cressa's smile was even more wicked than usual "You have my permission."

"Thank you, mistress!" the familiar cried happily, taking to the air as the drow released her.

"Be sure to give the piglet a show she won't forget. Now... what say we get up off this dirty floor, hm?"

...I much prefer the term "morally challenged."

"I'm afraid I'm not at liberty to provide the man with his weapon," the Priestess replied sternly "He has been deemed a threat by my advisors, and I'll not provide a potential danger with a means of harming himself or others."

Her tone then softened. "I agree, however, that stripping away a warrior's dignity is an atrocity. Please inform the guards that they are to furnish the man with his clothes."

"As for a hearing... well. We'll have to see. To be truthful, I don't know quite what to do with him aside from keeping him down there, as dangerous as he is."

She nodded to the women, and moved to push past them into her room. "Now, if that will be all...?"

"It's not enough to know your limits..

Odin ignored the feeling and assured herself if was just the wind.
She reasoned that she may be training too much and that she needed to rest her mind.

And with that she continued on her way to the Temple.

"Well..." he began uncertainly, frowning slightly as he placed his free hand on his hip "Do you think that maybe they're only taking up so much room because they're in the boxes? The clothes inside shouldn't take up so much -"

He stopped himself - and then laughed, realising it was too late. Oh well, she probably could have guessed from the boxes anyway. "Ah, looks like I just ruined any surprise there might have been. I believe you now have more clothes than all of the other Order ladies combined. And no, before you ask, I do not want you to try them on."

He glanced towards her, smile a little teasing and mischievious at once. Then, at the look on her face, the smile grew even broader, and he leaned in to kiss her forehead. "You're so beautiful. I love you."

This might have seemed a little forward considering his preoccupations, but to be honest everything felt less of a worry when he was close to her like this. Things felt easier and more natural, as if her proximity helped him lift the weight off his shoulders. That much, at least, hadn't changed.

Clothes, yes, she figured as much. That wrapping was far too familiar, and knowing it was Jessie who got them, it wasn't too difficult to put two and two together. Although all this only served to remind her of that one night. Oh god... he wasn't going to do that again, was he?

No. He promised to be less forward from then on, and he has been. Though in retrospect, perhaps she shouldn't have protested. After all, she was just...

Before she could dwell more on the thought, however, the drow's words caught her attention, and she slowly turned her head to meet his mischievous gaze. That look... He knew what she was thinking. It was as if he could--he couldn't... could he? Then all this time... A furious blush rose up her cheeks as her face contorted into something so awkward it was nigh impossible to describe in words, only to turn into a deeper shade of red upon feeling the soft pressure on her forehead.

"That... I..." Coline, stunned momentarily, turned to avoid Jessie's gaze in embarrassment. "I-In that case, then I'll be able to fit all this into my room... somehow."

Hmm... Yes, now that she thought more about it, she probably could. It was to her advantage that she rarely ever used her room for sleeping; now it could serve a whole new purpose. And so they were left one last problem: how were they going to get all these back home? Shifting her weight from one leg to another, the recruit pursed her lips. She could carry four, maybe five of these boxes at once. And if the Captain were to do the same... Still, that was going to take a lot of trips. Was there no easier way to go about all this?

It was then that a thought suddenly occurred to her.

"Jessie," she began, turning to him in a sort of hopefulness. "How exactly did you get here?"

"Cressa teleported us," he replied, without hesitation. "I'm sure she could manage another trip if we pressed her, but one of us would still have to walk to the house."

He absently brushed a piece of hair from his face as he continued his explanation. "Cressa's a sorceress, you see. She works her magic by tuning right into the natural energies of the world and bending them to her will. She can sense the aura about people and get a fix on them - their 'signature,' she calls it. That's how she always knows where to find me, no matter how far I run from her..." he glanced away from her, a little unsure of whether to mention it or not "And how she knew what she did about you."

"So to teleport... she needs to have someone or something on the other end that she can tune into, like searching for a radio frequency. But...uh," he said, hesitating further, obviously a little uncomfortable "She probably won't be back for a while. Drow women don't exactly have the same definition of a date as everyone else."

Do I control the blades in my hands?

Propping himself up on hiss elbows, he leaned over and kissed her.
Something unexpected and shocking happened then. The water started to fall, and when I say started, I mean dropped. As if all the water in the world was to suddenly come crashing to the ground, it would almost feel like less.
He simply stayed propped on his elbows, leaning into her, his face a shield of exasperation.
Smiling, he stood, he nakedness rather revealing. His muscles ripp;ed and moved with him as he walked to his clothing, putting on his pants and boots, which so far had yet to become drenched.
"May the lady allow me the honor?" He asked.

Or do they control me?

"So that's how she found out..." she muttered mindlessly, placing her free hand over her chest as a small sigh escaped her lips. "I'm relieved. For a moment I thought that you could--" With widened eyes Coline turned her head away sharply, a faint blush grazing her cheeks for the umpteenth time that day. She caught herself in time to realize that telling him about it was not the best way to bolster her confidence.

The recruit paced towards the foot of the mountain of presents and latched her weapon securely onto her back with a sharp click. "Teleportation... that would have been very convenient." she said, setting her hand back down loosely upon her sides. Coline stood there in silence for a few moments, sifting through her thoughts for any other possible solution. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like there was any other option left for them. "Well then," she started breathily, placing her hands on her hips. "I suppose we'll just have to carry these back ourselves."

It was more than Feline expected to get from Lorika, given the nature of her request.

“I know your opinion of me can’t be too high after what happened last week, but I am just a lost soul trying to find my way in a very different world just as he is.” She looked down in slight shame but quickly brought herself back up to a stance of one who knows their worth.

“Please just go to see him one more time. I will tell him you are coming. If he behaves in an aggressive manner then he deserves to be in there, but if he shows a willingness to be civil and talk,” she paused there almost afraid to push the Priestesses’ patience any further, “If so, you will hear his story and decide then what to do.”

After a pause Feline worried about Lorika feeling safe and quickly added ,“You needn’t be close to the door and I can be there too if you wish further protection. I owe you my life High Priestess and that is a debt that can never be repaid. I would never wish harm on you.” There was true emotion in her voice at the end. Nothing would ever cause her to want harm to befall the green haired angel she remembered pulling her back from the darkness. "You don't have make the decision now. Just please think it over carefully, that is all I ask."

With a slight bow she said, “Thank you for allowing me to give him back his dignity. You are too kind.” and with that she left to see to restoring the tiger man’s clothes to him.

((edit: realized I forgot to put in a line before leaving that gave lorika time to think things over

Edit again: First line so it doesn't seem like she dislikes Lorika, cause she doesn't))

"I suppose..." he said with a sigh, removing his arm from around her to pick up one of the boxes from the floor. "Maybe we should start by putting them all into the neat stacks they were in before the teleport messed up. What do you say?"

With the girl's assent, they set about gathering the boxes and placing them into orderly columns. It... took a long time. Jessie had no idea how long, but an hour must have definitely passed by the time they were three quarters through the mountain of gifts.

The work might have been mundane, but there was always something to brighten it up for the Captain - Coline herself. As in all other aspects of his life, her presence was a ray of sunshine. Every now and then he'd stop just to watch her - she'd catch him, they'd smile, and then return to the task at hand. Words were exchanged, of course, and even a hug and a kiss once or twice. In fact, Jessie would go so far as to say that re-stacking the dishevelled hill of presents alongside the woman he loved was great fun.

Not for the first time that day the drow appreciated the sheer amount of clothes present in the boxes. What exactly had he been thinking when he did this again? Hmm. Not very much, really. He'd set off with the singleminded goal of making things up to Coline somehow. Perhaps a little too singleminded, seeing the results. This glorious woman certainly seemed to bring out the unpredictable side in him. He hoped that this gesture, and his attempts to keep his distance, would be enough to make his horriffic outburst the week before up to Coline. To say it was completely unusual of him would be an understatement. He wasn't sure he'd ever desired a woman as much as he had in those few painfully short minutes. The only partners he'd had were back home in Kiltiras - numerous, certainly, but... well, drow society certainly doesn't allow a lot of decision or choice on the man's part. Cressa's attitude should be testament enough to that. The role of the male can be aptly described as that of a sex toy. Why did he allow himself to be used in that way? Why did any of the other males? When the alternative to forced sex is execution surface males would act no differently. They'd perform, and perform well, to avoid the incurred penalties for not doing so.

His actions made him feel ashamed doubly because... well, what must Coline think of him now? He'd bought her gifts and then tried to force himself on her. It had never been his intention, but he knew how it looked. The thought made him groan and cringe. Believe it or not, before Coline had mentioned it while sitting on the bed, he had never looked at her in that way. He'd fallen in love with her, not her body, and his intentions had been purely to see her happy.

Maybe they needed to have another sit down sometime to talk more about what happened. Or maybe he'd wait until she could feel comfortable around him again. Either way, it was something they needed to clear up...

Jessie looked up as a sudden burst of lightning lit up the cave. Rain began to pour in through the hole in the ceiling.

Outside, Corie flew through the forest like a bat out of hell. Yes, yes, yes! Finally! How long had it been since she was last allowed to regain her true form? Too long! Time to wreak some havoc! Cause some mayhem! Soil some pants!

As the last tree flit past her, the bird brought her two legs forward as if about to land hard. There was a crack like that of a whip... and Corie seemed to explode. A heap of feathers dropping heavily to the ground was all that was left of the familiar we know, as forward in her place stormed a ten-foot, burly monstrosity, its gigantic jaws gaping in a horrifying mockery of a grin. Its eyes were red, its skin black and covered in scaly, rocklike protrusions. Altogether it cut the figure of something stepping straight out of the ninth circle of hell.

Swift and powerful, it let out a roar as it charged into the cave, scattering the remainder of the box mountain in every direction and blocking out the light from the entrance of the cave. It bore down on the two humanoids like a leopard on a pair of voles.

Jessie's eye widened, reflexively stepping back as the great, black monstrosity loomed over them. His thoughts immediately flashed to Coline - where was she? Behind him? Mergloth was in his hands in a second. He raised it above his head, ready to strike a decisive blow to the monster's head - all of this in the space of a few split-seconds - but then the creature stopped. It hunkered down above him, seeming to regard them with the cruel smile on its face. It leaned forward, bending down towards him. His grip on the sword relaxed slightly, arm lowering by an inch.

The toadlike beast roared in his face, revealing rows of gigantic, sharp teeth and a single massive tongue bigger than Jessie's torso. The man cringed away from the surge of foul breath - then, as the creature closed its mouth to grin again... he reached out and flicked it on the nose with his free left hand.

"Corie! What do you think you're doing?!"

The monster's face fell, expressions comically exaggerated by the sheer size of its features. "You knew it was me?" it rumbled. Its voice was inhuman, and yet... somehow feminine. Somehow familiar.

Mergloth disappeared back into the folds of his robe, and he regarded the creature with a scowl. "What would a black slaad be doing in Gaia of all places at such an opportune time? That, the not-immediately-ripping-us-limb-from-limb, and the fact that I know your ugly mug from a mile away... there were just too many giveaways."

"I thought I really scared you for a second there," the beast sulked, straightening up only to visibly slouch in defeat.

Jessie only frowned in reply, turning around to look for his kalye'chev. "Coline? Coline, dear? Don't be scared; it's alright. Everything's fine."

Meta felt a little left out of the conversation, but she know better than to disturb it. She could sense that there was more to this than met the eye, perhaps a sort of power-play, even.

She waited a moment, then followed her fellow felinid towards where this... tiger-man was, as they called him. She was quite intrigued; there were three of her kind here now?! She wondered.... maybe he'd have some information about him.

"May I join you, Feline? I have something I'd like to talk to this tiger-man about..."

Before the snowy catgirl could dash off, Lorika reached forward to take the platter from her hands. "I'll take that, thank you."

After abandoning her cloak inside, she headed back out through the basements and up the stairs; through more hallways, and into the mages' sector. She was soon upon the door to Panda's study, and gave a few rhythmical taps on the door.

User Image"My God-- maybe I don't know how to love..."

The water was cold, very cold.
It wasn't like the water he was used to from then.
No, that water had been warm.
No, not even warm.
Boiling.

Now, this water was different. It was cold, it was dark, it was... green? Blue? Black? He wasn't sure if he was even seeing in color.

There were things moving under him, and over him, and far away from him, and right before his eyes. All he knew was that everything was moving.

Now it wasn't so much green and blue and black and things moving. It was stationary things, slightly moving, dark against a white bottom.

His head felt heavy, heavier than the rest of his body. In fact, his ribcage felt both compressed, and about to explode, and it was lighter than the rest of his body.

The white was getting closer, now...

The white came up to meet his face, and it was sharp, it was gritty, it was colder than the smooth green and blue and black he'd been in only a moment ago.

And then all he could feel was cold, the grit, and his ribcage deflating.

The water was gone, but so was his support.

His body collapsed in on him.

"...Maybe that's why I love so easily."
