Ren had easily done the Rabbit, or Usagi, Hand Seal, thus making his hand seal count up to 5! Ren's blush subsided at this point, feeling a bit more comfortable in the classroom. So much in fact, that in his haste to learn, it seemed that he had left the other student in the class with out so much as a word. Ren didn't mean to seem rude, if that what was being portrayed, instead, he merely was caught up in the moment. He had 7 more seals to learn and was feeling very good about his achievements, however insignificant as it may seem to others.

Ren's failure did not break his confidence or even turn his smile into a frown. He was actually quite happy at this point in time. It appeared to him that the Horse Hand Seal is surprisingly tricky! With his staple grin on his face, he began to try again!

Growing slightly better doing the Horse Hand Seal, Ren felt even more confidence welling up inside of him. Someday he'd look back on this and have fond thoughts. For that he was sure!

Even closer to his goal, than he was before, Ren continued to contort his fingers into place. It wasn't perfect yet, but it was a far cry from his original attempt! And as long as progress was made, Ren couldn't complain.

Failing once again, Ren realized that he must be over thinking something. He took a brief pause and then gave it another go! Once again, Ren's sole thought was of his future. Impressing Andou-sensei and his father were top priority at the moment.

Ren's blush got exceedingly red, in his attempt to be cool and relaxed turned out backfiring more than he predicted possible. So...he had to find a balance between levelheadedness and a studious mind. He had to overcome these seals like he did with the others. He approached it yet again with his confidence unbroken.

Ren's idea had worked this time it seemed. And so the Horse, or Uma, Hand Seal had been learned! This meant he had successfully learned half of the required material! Excitedly, Ren could not hold in his words," Yes, just six more to go!"

With six hand seals learned, Ren felt extremely ecstatic, it seemed to him that learning these so quickly will definitely get him on the right start to becoming a shinobi. Ren's smile caused his lips to pull back, revealing his white teeth, a clear sign that he was happy with himself. Ren flipped the page of one of the manuals, to find yet another seal waiting to be learned. This one was O-ushi, or the Ox. Ren studied the pages a bit before attempting to place his hands in the correct pattern.

Ren had succeeded yet again, bringing his total of hand seals learned up to 7! Ren felt happy, but calmed down slightly, if Andou-sensei had seem his pride, he might be in for a nasty reawakening. He had to contain himself a bit. This was because learning the hand seals was an essential part of all shinobi training, but was not on the same level as learning a jutsu. Ren loosened his smile to return to its normal state, still warm and cheery, but not overly carried away.

Ren took a minute to gather his thoughts. All of this would one day help him execute all manner or jutsu and could quite possibly save his life one day. Ren's mind fades back to a time where he was still traveling around with his father. " Ren, you must grow stronger...remember that you are to carry on our veins to the next generation. There isn't much of us left and in that light I must make sure that you get a better life than this. You remind me so much of your mother, so full of hope and optimism...don't let anyone take that away from you," the voice of his father rang clearly in Ren's head. He flipped a page and began yet another attempt to learn another hand seal, all the while replaying events in his thoughts.

Getting distracted by his memories did not seem to stop Ren, if anything it seemed to help with this seal. Monkey, or Saru, was learned without too much effort at all. This brought his count up to eight now. He only had four more to learn and Ren wasn't about to stop now, not with the voice of his father sounding clear as day within his daydream.

Ren continued down memory lane with his eyes giving off a sort of timeless wonder that he often got thinking of his great father."Ren, I have to tell you something that you need to know. That tattoo you have...the one I personally have given you. It is the secret of our clan's greatest power. You must learn to use it to rise to great heights. The very blood that is within you is the same as mine, so remember if you are feeling gloom, I'm always there...watching your progress,"sounded the faceless voice of his father. These memories were of the last time he saw his father, the ones that give him the inner strength he has today. Ren flips to another page of the manual and begins practicing for the next hand seal.

Ren got close this time, but couldn't quite reach his goal. Ren figured that he had to try harder, but with the calm mind that he had. This would get him through this training and on his way to one day seeing his father again. Or at least...that is how he felt in this situation.

Reflecting back on the past wasn't depressing for Ren at all. Sure, he missed his father, but it didn't mean that he could buckle down and give up. Ren was his father's only son, a testament to his responsibility to maintain the honor that his clan once held. Ren's studying of these seals only seemed to further him into these dreams."Now, remember everything I taught you. It is up to you now to find a place in this world that isn't as lonely as the life this clan has lived for many generations. Remember that you are very special, your mother's precious jewel, and even if others frown upon you, be happy." Ren blinked a bit, trying to see his father's face in his mind but could not seem to. It was strange, but he attempted the hand seal again.

Once again failing to complete the Ram, or O-hitsuji, Hand Seal did not even shake Ren's confidence. For being such an easy appearing seal, it was amazed him just how something so simple can still elude him. He thought he had he hands just right, but maybe if he were to move his index finger higher next time.

Ren's vision of his father seemed blurred, being that he could not even remember the face of the man he looked up to. He was a bit worried, but his father's words once again began to echo in his mind ," You always be true to yourself. Don't force yourself to be anything that you aren't. If you feel that you don't have what it takes to become a shinobi, then don't fret. I will always love you, my son." Ren couldn't let his father down, he felt that even with his father telling him what he did, that he must strive to not only be a shinobi, but one of great renown. Ren tried the seal once again.

No, moving the index finger higher was not the only thing he was noticing before. Maybe it was in the way his thumbs were laying. Regardless what the problem was, Ren had to figure it out. With only four seals to go, he wasn't about ready to give up. Because he knew he had what it took to become a shinobi and he'd do it no matter what.

The memories of his father swirling in his head began to trouble Ren. "You must go out on your own now. I can no longer help you. Please do as I ask and go out on your own and don't come running back to me. I love you son, but you must do this if you are to ever grow anywhere without me in your life. Now go." Ren remembered being so sad that day, practically crying hours after he willingly walked out into the forests. He now looks back on that day with a smile, being that he has made it this far.

Letting himself get too lost in his thoughts caused Ren to accidentally fail again. He had let himself get lax with his hands and had to try yet again. This time would be different...or so he hoped.

Ren had to fight back the memories for now, they only seemed to be ruining his feel of the hand seals. So batting them away, he took a deep breath and released it slowly. His smile got wider as he felt lighter, so he made another attempt for the hand seal. He placed the book down on the shelf with it open and attempted once again. But as fate would have it, he made an error.

Just as Ren went to make his hand sign, he sneezed! It seemed the dust from the books was getting to him more than he would have liked. He laughed a bit aloud and decided to try again, this time without distractions.
