::glares at Corax311:: Behave little bird or I will pluck you and eat you for my supper.

::Walks up to the gentleman, stopping about 5 feet from him::
Excuse me sir, but I see the boats are being repaired. Is there another way to the north or will the sailors need help repairing the boats?

I'd rather not have to run the whole distance. So if repairs are needed, I can help.

::The old man shoots an vicious glare at the rather large bird. As his hat is tipped upwards, one can clearly see the patch covering his left eye...and the color of his right. His right eye shined a bring red, and it seemed that the firey red was seeping in the veins around his eye. For a moment its as if the eye of the Devil is upon the raven.::

Aye...even the large parrots know when to seal ther' yap.

::He turns to the rather, kind young lady with a smile and a bit of a bow.::

'Tis not that Las, we loves our boats and the seas are kind...but...well ye best see for yerselves.

::He trots off using his rapier as a cane, each step was careful so as not to slip on seagull poo. And finally he came to a stop peering off the edge of the dock into the ocean below.::

Tis not the boats...tis them...

::He gestures toward the ocean below. At first view it may look as if the sea was just turbulent, but a closer look reveals the dashes and glints of silver much like the gunk being peeled off the boats. Then came the fish, a single fish jumps from the ocean, the fist itself is about 4ft long and is covered from head to toe in what looks to be metal. In mid air, a sort of engine propells it forward and it takes a rather large bite out of the dock just and inch or two in front of poor Lanhie's feet.::

Tis been months since the purple comet flew over, and they came. They eat 'verythin we put in and try an "rebuild" it. We cant launch a nothin' into her mates...tis a good 3 day sail north to Guldor from 'ere...I knows your mostly heroes and such any help wouild be grand.

:: looks as if he ignored the comment from the old man ::

How can we help with this problem, It seems really serious. I heard that port towns such as this need fish to survive, so how are you getting food?

Is there no other way to get to the next island then? How does this island do its trading and traveling then?

::The old man, only partially recognizing the birds presence cranes his neck to the side and mutters.::

The birds make a good meal...

::Before turning back to the kind young lady with a friendly smile.::

Well Las, most travel is done in the same manner as trade...we fishermen live a simple life but ther're other ways to go. If you had the means you could...

::A rather loud wooshing could be heard as for a second the clouds parted overhead. The trio hadnt been on Gaia enough days to see yesterdays 9am shipment, but here was todays. A rather large ship soared by overhead, amazingly it looked like a boat...a flying boat. Only where the cannons should be were what looked to be propulsion engines.

The old man gave a scowl and shook his cane rapier at the loud airship. It had so rudely interupted him, the same way it interupted the peaceful port villa. The ship turned and slowed and parked itself a couple hundred feet down dock. The man shook his head and turned back to the young girl and finished his sentence.::

...you could fly. Those blasted ships...always with such a racket. But alas, the sea aye, shes trecherous, but the sky...she be kind. The nearest isles a good 6 days flight from here, lest you can tag a ride with those skylubbers.

I could go ask them if you want. Despite popular belief, I can be quite friendly.

Sir, do you know if they take passengers and if so what they charge for such? Also the offer to help out this port with there ships still stands, at least for me anyways. The other two have items they are searching for while I have no pressing matters.

**raises his eyebrow**
Well, nothing quite stranger than a flying boat so far. Time to find out how much of it is going to stranger.

**turns to the old man**

So what's procedure to book passage?

Hmph.

::Something about his face seem disgusted, not with the trio, but with the idea of conversation with the air-folk. It could be supposed that while a sea faring pirate hates landlovers, he despises sky-lovers. His wrinkled brow furrowed, and his face took a scowl as he turned to face the crew unloading supplies from the Airship.

But his feelings were focused, he turned back to the Las, and black haired Lad and spoke again::

I 'kin barely stand to look at the damned sky-lubbers, much less converse. I couldnt say. But las...

::A smile seeped across his face as his one good red eye looked warmly at the young girl.::

Dontcha worry, ya wouldnt tell by the look of it, but just last week we fought of an undead raid. 'Nearly leveled the town.

::His right hand gestures to the water.::

Thars nothin' we kin do about it, so we accept it, and these things usually work themselves out. A fine Las like yourself would be much safer with friends. But I thank ya fer the offer.

:: looks at Lanhie::

Ok, I'll go ask them then.

::looks towards the bird with a look of slight disgust::
You are more than welcome to speak with them, no one is stopping you.

::looks back towards the kind gentleman::
Where I come from water travel is the second main way of going around, do you think the sailors would mind if I talked with some of them about their boat designs?
PostPosted: Tue Feb 21, 2006 1:04 pm

::The man shook his head gently. Granted when she mentioned "where I come from", he assumed another part of Gaia. But that was beside the point.::

Nay, but be ye ware, us old sea-dogs love our boats and ye might find yerself caught up in chat fer the next few hours.

::He laughed a bit at the thought of the last time he caught someone in one of those chats. And an idea sparked in his head.::

Before you go las, spare this old man a moment, may I see your hand?
