Lin and Earendil's bedroom door was open when the children arrived, and they were indeed busy packing, but out of courtesy Andarien still knocked on the door frame before wandering in.

"Oh, there you are," Earendil smiled, pausing as he was about to put a neatly folded tunic into his bag. "All packed?"

"Just about," Miyuki replied.

She hadn't finished packing because she had to go into the city to get some things. Granted, she took her bag with her, but she would probably rearrange everything again before going.

"Excited?" Lin asked from where she was doing last minute maintenance on her weapons.

Even though they would be spending a good while in Caras Galadhon, it was best for Lin to do it now and then perhaps train on the ship.

Andarien shrugged one shoulder, though he wasn't really paying attention to the question itself. His eyes were fixed on Lin's hands and her weapons, the very things he had come here to ask her about. Yet now that he saw then, he found his dislike for them burbling to the surface again, and he didn't know if he could ask about it, after all.

Earendil frowned when he saw the miserable look on Andarien's face. "Come now, what's wrong?" he asked, setting his tunic in his bag and focusing on the children instead.

Miyuki looked at her little brother and then to what her mother was doing. It seemed there really was something that just made weapons work a miserable thing for Andarien. He seemed miserable and hadn't even asked yet.

So she did.

"We'd like to take a look at weapons again before we leave," she explained, "Well... at least I'd like to look at archery again, I've already tried blades, but I want to pester Auntie Feng about her weapon. Andarien wanted to talk to you both about it now because Caras Galadhon doesn't have good weapons, so if we need anything we should get it before leaving."

She scratched the back of her head and wondered if she should add Andarien's feelings but that seemed like something he should tell himself.

"Oh?" Earendil moved to stand next to Andarien and put one hand gently on his shoulder. He leaned down and asked softly, "You're sure about this?"

Andarien looked as though he were about to cry, but he nodded, his eyes still fixed on Lin's weapons.

"I ... have to," he croaked finally, his voice cracking as he spoke. He licked his lips apprehensively. "All I can do is ... is run away. I don't want to run away."

Lin carefully set down her own weapons, she could see he felt strongly on this, but seemed to feel equally strongly about his uncertainly about it all.

"Andarien...."
Lin murmured as she made her way over to him, "If you want to, we will, but you need to be comfortable with this."

Since they had already learned the hard way of what happens when someone wasn't comfortable with fighting.

Tears filled Andarien's eyes, and he pushed his goggles up onto his forehead to rub them away.

"He's not going to start comfortable," Earendil murmured softly, "but perhaps if we got him something wooden to start out with ... and if he gets comfortable with that, something real to replace it with."

Andarien looked up at Earendil, then back at Lin, and nodded firmly. "I don't want to," he said, taking a deep breath, "but it's something I have to do. I have to!"

He clenched his fists at his sides. He was terrified and he didn't want to do this at all, but he had already made the decision and he was going to go through with it. There was simply no way that he was going to leave others in danger if he could do something to help it!

She pulled him into a hug, they had always known that the children would still be feeling the aftermath of the dragon attack, but this was a bit... of a surprise.

"Alright then, how about we do just that then?"
she nodded up at Earendil.

They should be able to get something wooden.

"You know, since we're talking about starting out with wood, why not get Kaito's help and input since he taught bokken to River?"

"Until that point I would never have guessed that Kaito knew anything about weapons," Earendil chuckled. "Yes, that sounds like a good idea to me."

"He's in his room," Andarien said darkly. "Being annoying."

Lin raised a brow at that, only because she had a feeling that it wasn't about learning weapons that got that particular response. She tilted her head over to Miyuki who was trying not to snicker at that.

Miyuki coughed, "We were there earlier about a crystal Andarien got from that cave and Kaito knows something but he's not telling. You know him."

That only made Lin roll her eyes, "Really... that man."

Earendil chuckled. He understood.

"Well, then, let's go, while we have the time," he grinned. He knelt down and wiped the tears from Andarien's cheeks. "There, that's better. Come on, then. Maybe it's best we all go."

Miyuki had to agree with that, even though they had just been to see Kaito. Not that she minded, but sometimes he was a bit much to deal with and she wasn't sure how Andarien felt about it all.

"It should be quick,"
Lin added as she got the door for everyone.

"I hope so," Andarien muttered as Earendil steered him out into the corridor.

When they got back to the nekos' room, the door was wide open and Kaito was sitting at the desk, doing something with Shiro's tablet. One wing twitched when Earendil knocked on the door frame, but aside from that his attention seemed fixed on what he was doing.

"C'mon in," he grunted without looking at them.

Lin was the one who opened the door, and really wasn't surprise to see Kaito on Shiro's tablet. If he wasn't active exploring, he was generally on that. Normally when Shiro wasn't using it.

"Hey Kaito, could we have your input on something?"

"Uh ... huh," Kaito said slowly. He tapped a button on the side of the tablet and turned to face the others. "Right. What can I do for you?"

He grinned and leaned back against the desk, drawing up one knee and looking rather uncomfortably lazy.
