Luke walked back to the Arena after a meal to find everyone gone. He shrugged and clipped his pair of celestial bronze cestus on, before delivering a punch to one of the half-broken dummies around him. The wood splintered on contact, and he peeled it off with ease. He couldn't help but be upset that the last time he had entered, it had been to be swiftly defeated in battle by someone using weapons. He himself stuck to his firm belief that unarmed combat was much more reliable.

Kevin, bored out of his mind, wandered into the arena. He drew his blade, the small coin shaped symbol with the hand on it spun around and turned red. The sword grew red for a moment, than faded back to it bronze metallic gregory color. He rushed towards a dummy, he sliced upwards, delivering what would be a fatal wound to it, resulting in a large gash extending from mid torso up through the top of the chest, curving slightly into the shoulder area. The edges along the sides of the blade mark were slightly charred, though barely noticeable. As his blade was in the air, he brought it downwards and in a crossing slice motion, cutting it in half, sending burning pieces of splintered wood in different directions. Flame licked up the blade for a split second, before being sucked back towards the symbol on the side of the blade, returning to it in a maelstrom of red before returning to the original bronze grey color.

Carmelia walked into the Arena. Ignoring everyone else in the arena, she walked up to a dummy, and slipped her knives out of her sleeves. She ran up to the dummy and stuck her knife in it's back and ran it through. She pulled the knife upward and the dummy was just hanging by one thing strand of rope. She ran around to the other side. She ran back 50 feet and took aim with another knife. Releasing it,she nailed it in the eyeholes of it's helmet. The strand of rope holding the dummy of snapped and the dummy fell to the Arena floor with a crash and a big upward of dirt. She smiled and retrieved her knives. She took out a can of Mountain Dew and walked over to the seat. She popped open her Mountain Dew and took a sip. She began watching the other two work.

October entered the Arena, her two scorpion tail-shaped blades in hand. She needed to break something, and a cluster of wooden and straw dummies looked really appealing. She started to walk over when she saw a boy punch a half-broken dummy with a weapon she didn't know.
'A cestus...' A voice echoed softly in her mind. She walked over to him, spinning her blades in hand.
"What are you try to accomplish with those?" She asked, sheathing her weapons and crossing her strong, muscly arms.

(To make sure you know, this is a cestus. Luke's look quite different, though. His pair both have spiked knuckles, as well as folded steel coating the arms to keep them protected. the base is made of celestial bronze rings, much like a chainmail boxing glove. Just thought I'd give you a visual.)

Luke had been temporarily stunned by watching the magic weapon Kevin had used. He silently wished that he knew how to enchant his own gauntlets. When October spoke, it brought him back into reality.
"What, these?" he asked, holding up his fists to give a better view. "Oh, you know, just training. Isn't that all anyone ever does here?"

Kevin heard the kid from across the arena and laughed. He walked over and grinned. "Training to get your a** kicked, those aren't weapons, those are pointy mittens. Get real bro." He said, clearing his throat a few times then spitting on the ground, kicking dirt over it.

"Oh, please, not another one," Luke said, rolling his eyes. "What, are you Gage's just-as-rude twin brother? Why don't you run off? Maybe you can find him and you two can battle to the death. That would be a fight I'd pay to watch." He turned and delivered another strong punch to the "eyes" of the dummy, promptly punching four clean holes in it. "On another note, you might wish to know that even if these were pointy mittens, the pointy part is all I need to deal with monsters."

October listened to what the boy opposite of the arena said and laughed.
"He's right. You'll probably die before you can land a single blow," She snorted, and looked at the boy opposite of her in the arena. He sounded a lot like some of the descriptions some other campers had told her.
"Your Kevin right? Ares kid?" She asked him, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. She patted the blades on her hips and gave the boy with metal mittens a wicked grin.
"These, will kill more monsters in their lifetime then metal mittens," She said and whipped them both out of their sheaths, old western style. She swung the big blades, and jumped up, bringing her arms around first before turning herself, sliding the scorpion shaped-blades through a dummy effortlessly. It fell in two perfect, clean cuts. She turned around again and smirked at the boy.
"Thats how you do it."

Caren looked vaguely up from her Ipod Touch. She had finished her Mountain Dew a while ago and had taken out her Ipod. She cursed. She had been playing Hands vs. Weapons, and she was on weapons side. The person with a cestus,on the game, had thrown a blow to her jaw and she had been knocked unconscious. She guess that fighting with cestuses could be better than with weapons. She put away her Touch and walked back down to the main arena.

Luke narrowed his eyes.
"You guys watch. Someday, I'll be accepted for a quest. Then, when these things take out more monsters in a summer than you guys will in a lifetime, I'll be the one laughing," he said. "I'm Luke, son of Dionysus. Remember the name, because someday, you'll be calling it out with the names of Percy Jackson and George Washington." He turned without another word and went back to work on the dummy, eventually managing to punch the head right off the body with enough blows. True, a sword may have done the same thing quite a bit sooner, but swords were so unwieldy to him. Besides, it was much more painful for the opponent this way.

(In case you haven't noticed, Luke's "fatal flaw" is pride. He believes that his way is best, and he refuses to back down when someone fights against that theory.)

October narrowed her pale eyes at the boy, Luke, then rolled them at him. What a prideful idiot.
"Wow. Im so scared. I wish I could remember your name already, but its slipped my mind," She replied mockingly, smirking. No way was some half-wit kid better then her, daughter of the powerful Ares!
"Fine. You want to see who's weapon better? Lets fight then. I'm October, daughter of Ares. And your not as good as you make yourself sound," She said, lifting her chin and gripping her weapons tight. Really, she could use anything she wanted, but she preferred these.

Luke turned around once more. Oddly, his eyes were purple rather than their usual green. It only flashed for a moment, however, before his eyes went back to normal.
"You're on, daughter of Mars," he said, "What weapon are you going to use? Do you prefer a spear? Sword? I don't care what weapon I have to break in my hands."
He started pacing around her furiously. "I know what the blessing of Ares is, of course. Percy Jackson. So-called invincibility. Incredible strength. Blablabla. I would love to see you invoke that. I'd love to beat someone who's doing that."
His anger was obviously clouding his reason, since he normally would not be saying things like this, especially about the gods. But his past defeat had frustrated him, and the fact that someone else was challenging him to a fight with weapons against his own fists was infuriating.

(I intend for Luke to lose once more. I've got a plan for him. By the way, I think it would be cool if she invoked the blessing of Ares, if only to make him realize his mistake in saying stuff like that.)

Carmelia walked down from the seats, with her knives safely tucked in her sleeves. Her Ipod Touch fell out of her back pocket, but she didn't notice and kept walking. As she walked, she pulled her long, blond hair into a messy bun. Being a daughter of Ares, she felt humiliated at the sight of her blond hair. She walked up to a dummy, and kneeled down, and stuck her knives in the dirt. They glinted strangely different colors. Gold, bronze, silver, causing confusion to the enemy. She didn't want to use them, but attacked the dummy with her bare fists. She punched the dummy and a hole appeared. She kicked and punched the dummy until the dummy was no more.

For a moment, Luke stopped his pacing and forgot his anger when he saw a girl putting down her weapons in favor of unarmed punches.
"Finally, someone with sense," he muttered. He only stood there for a moment, however, before returning to being angry with the other children of Ares.

Carmelia's hair came out of her bun. She brushed her silky hair out of her face. She saw a boy watching her. She left her knives in the dirt and walked over to him. "Carmelia Mitchell,Daughter of Ares," she said, blowing her hair out of her face,"and you are?" She pulled her hair out out of the limp ponytail and re-tied it into her messy bun.
