Proudly_Jewish I'm leaving for the Domican Republic for a week tonight at like 3am >_> I'm going to try to convince my parents to bring the menorah with us so that we can celebrate Chanukah there rofl domokun I'm curious... is the variation in spelling a transliteration issue or what? (Chanukah vs Hannukah) It's pronounced the same, right? Hard H/aspirated ch/aspirated kh (honestly, I can't tell the diff between these sounds; they're all Kintarasesa q to me) followed by "anaka", right? neutral I wouldn't know; I'm barely Christian, much less anything else. *gets struck by lighting* oops...

HellsBitch Eccentric Iconoclast Hoilday? mad D It doesn't require the Christmas spirit to go shopping, now, does it? wink Unless you are male, dear. Most females can use everything as an excuse to shop, where as most males hate it, unless its for them selves. That, plus mothers.

Yes, it's a transliteration issue. sweatdrop One of the standards of spelling it in English is that it has eight letters, though; each letter symbolising one day of the holiday. It has to be like that. Other than that, you're pretty much allowed to spell it any way you like as long as it's recognisable.

Sluvotsky My hands, they are cold as maya's affections towards me. ; ; Winter sucks. Ai, Sluvotsky! What did you do to your face?? (It would be much funnier if you realised that in my head--as I am not really saying this out loud as my parents are asleep in the next room--I am saying this as though I were doing that weird Russian/French/German accent that my roommate and I use randomly) So it'd be Qannaka, then. Schwoo. I can maybe go undeadify the Kintarasesa thread in the Conlang guild, maybe. Cool. I just realised my post: Forgedawn HellsBitch Unless you are male, dear. Most females can use everything as an excuse to shop, where as most males hate it, unless its for them selves. That, plus mothers. Made no sense, probably. I mean, mothers like to drag sons and husbands shopping with them. I was about to make another example, but I remembered taht Birthdays are holidays, too. rolleyes Here I go, playing up the stereotype dramallama I know plenty of girls who act the same way. Don't know many guys who go for shopping, though. Grand total of one. NO, he is NOT gay. Sheesh.

Sheesh.I like going shopping... but only by myself or with another guy, for women have a very different way of shopping than men. They have what I like to call "wandering eyes." On their way to get something, their eyes typically wander toward something completely and totally irrelevant, and usually end up buying it. And then it happens over and over again... I myself do something I like to call "eyes forward." When I go into a store, I head directly toward what I've come for, buy it, and leave. Ain't that so much more simple? mrgreen

When I go shopping with something in mind, I get just that one thing usually. But sometimes I go out shopping just for shoppings sake.

The difference is that I still walk at the speed I normally do (about twice what seems to be "normal" human walking speed, and just about normal for all of us nerdy types, go figure) and I don't go out of the path unless something majorly catches my eye or I remember that I had to get something else. I'm one of those people who store clerks like to pester.

I don't like going shopping. Being around people gives me a headache...and the whole thing seems pointless, and a waste.
