and i know that.. but the really bad thing is that i don't even have the basic skills required for a normal minimum wage job so i'm in an even worse sittuation..

Counting and saying paper or plastic is about all you need to get a min wage job...I'm gunna work with my dad on the weekends once I hit 16 (4 more days!!!or 5...) And I'll get paid 10 bucks an hour for making fiber optic drape and maybe a few sight serveys with him...yay!

um... it's more complicated than that..
Waitressing/waiter - Acting skills, being able to smile, balance things, and being friendly with complete strangers...
Convienance store clerk- basic math, being able to distinguish people over 18 from those who aren't when it comes to Tobacco and Ciggarettes. Acting Skills and being friendly to complete strangers.
Grocery store Clerk- Basic Math, Acting skills and being friendly to complete strangers.
i'm sure you get the idea.

..... I worked at the convience store in my town.. we had to know which people were between 18 and 25 to ask for ID. anyone else we didn't have too.. so um yeah.. you do.
two when your the shyest person ever it's hard to be friendly to people and talk..
talking loud is impossible..

How do you get better at not being shy? Practice.
I've never really been shy so I know nothing of it but whats there to really be scared/shy about? OMG IT'S A PERSON JUST LIKE YOU!!! Now if it was a cute person of the oppisite sex thats understandable but otherwise it's just plan silly and often (not really in your case...but still kinda) used as an excuse. I can't do that I'm shy =( And yet Lance Armstrong can ride a bike after testicular cancer....HE has an excuse....

It's easier said than done..
I just don't talk, i'm afraid of saying something stupid. Which i've done on mulitple occasions and made my life worse.
I spent my life not talking, unless it was to people i knew would listen, and really listen, and would give a damn about what i said.
It's hard to explain and put into words..
By nature, i shouldn't even be talking to you right now, I don't lknow why i can talk freely on places like this, where i can't do the same thing offline.

I think you put to much thought of what others think of you. I've killed many a jokes and been shut down many a times. I just stay quiet till I can think of somthing that can bring me back into grace. You make it seem harder than it is. Walk in the mall and ask people for some change to call your mom (if your younger) or your boyfriend (if your older) it'll teach you to be bold....easier if some one helps though...

It's hard to not put too much thought on what others think of me when the world as made it's point of being judgemental upon everyone and everything.
I've been on the recieving end of the cruelty, harshness of the world. To get past that, yeah it's harder for me.
If i don't say anything, i don't give people a reason to counter me, and hate me.
Also when i did try to speak and voice my opinion.. they were ignored and tossed aside to begin with.. so what's the point
i'm the type of person who only speaks when spoken too..
again i say easier said, than done.

As am i.. *doesn't like the fact that you used "the real world " to describe being offline.. but will let it go.. *
I usually just speak when spoken too.. otherwise, i just sit and listen.. to the people around me talk..
i can read people and figure out the way they are just by the way they talk now.. i think...
it's worked in most cases..
anyway....
