[[I was wondering where you went... X3 He meant to say 'I care about you,' but Haar is socially inept. :'CC -hugs him-

'Tato's I-CAN-TAKE-UP-HALF-THE-DAMN-PAGE-WITH-MY-ANGST-AND-PLOT post,' lololololol. X3 What can I say, Haar inspires me to write angst. XD Kudos to you! :D -gasporz- Premonitions?? :O And Haar really isn't bleeding all that bad...besides like his nose and he probably cut his lip or something. XDXD I didn't want his side to be ripped open for the billionth time. [/long comment] ]]

Purple eyes scanned the gorgeous landscape of the light kingdom. This was where he had grown up, where his family still lived... He loved coming back, it just felt right. Although they were nowhere near his hometown, the whole country had a relatively similar landscape so any section of the light kingdom felt like going back home to Ceris.

Cupping a hand over his eyes, the twenty-four year old mage took a step back before turning to his left with a gentle smile. He and Xel were standing a little ways away from the festival, doing more exploring of the forest-filled area. "Xel...?" He realized that the knight was torn whenever he visited the light kingdom, and even more torn when he was with a light native while in this kingdom. One half of his make up would love nothing more, other than being in the earth nation, than to stay here and relish in all the warmth and beautiful weather the land had to offer... while his other half, the one made up of ice and cold, fiercely hated being here. Ceris always felt torn as well when he was around Xel, especially at night when it was just the two of them. His very nature shied away from ice, and yet he was very much in love with him and an interesting mix of blood wasn't going to stop Ceris from being with Xel.

Touching the knight's forearm softly, the bright-eyed mage murmured the knight's name once more before gaining said soldier's attention. "Xel? What are y-?" He was cut off as a bouquet of flowers were thrust into his hands, a grinning Xel peeking out from behind them.
"For you, my sweet~" He gave the mage a lop-sided smile before running a finger through indigo-tinted hair. "It's much easier to use Earth magic here," he explained as he picked out flowers from Ceris's hair, a trick he knew the younger man enjoyed. Just as a magician would hide items and bring them forth with slight-of-hand skill, Xel simply had to create tiny, white daisies before his hand left the mage's locks. It wasn't the hardest thing to do especially when he was creating such small flowers, but Ceris still laughed like it had been the first time he'd seen the trick.

Glancing around a bit, the brown-eyed mutt, as his father liked to call him, locked an arm around the mage's waist as he decided they were indeed alone. Brushing fingers along the side of the young man's face, Xel grinned gently before pressing a kiss to the healer's forehead...and then his cheek...and finally his lips.

"Have I told you that you're simply ravishing in this light?" Xel mad it a point not to say that Ceris only looked gorgeous, because that was not the truth at all. His whole being seemed to glow in the light of his home-kingdom.

Ceris lowered his head, setting down the beautifully crafted flowers before running fingers through perpetually shaggy, dark green hair. "Have I told you how much of a charmer you are, Xel?" They laughed even though it was completely true, Xel could charm his way out of and into anything he wished if he put his mind to it. "Thank you," he finally whispered, pressing his forehead against the knight's shoulder a moment before looking up with lavender-eyes.

"I love you."

No matter how many times he heard it whispered against his ear, like now, it still felt... painfully special, and Ceris would not have it any other way. He cherished the way Xel could still make him feel like he was seventeen and stupid and way in over his head. The way he could look at him and they were right back to the beginning, making clumsy mistakes in their tent... The way he would whisper those words and make him feel like he could never hear them enough.

He smiled warmly, "And I you forever and ever."

((Haha. Well, Sona, you did better than I, at the very least. 8D;;;

And holybajesus, what a challenge you have issued. (the whole lovey-dovey scene, I mean 8D;;; ) Fwah, not sure if that makes much sense... but it does to me.... in my head! 8D;;;

Also, please excuse any typing errors that occur in this post. I am simply TOO GIDDY to lay down my fingers on the correct keys. Wanna know why? I LANDED MY AXEL. (only once, but that's a minor detail) 8DDDDDDDD Yey. Aren't you happy for me?! <3333333))

Alti straightened up, letting go over the other's shirt. "I told you... I can defend my pride perfectly well. Something so meaningless said by a complete stranger would never get to me -- after all, I'm not much of a healer anyway. I'me used to being called useless, even if they never said it nearly so directly as he did," the teen replied, voice still passionate with anger, though he seemed to have gained better control of himself. Still, his face was white -- even paler than his usual milky skin.

"And what if you'd opened it up yourself? Your arms are connected to your side... I mean, if it's... if you're... bleeding again, I have to stop it quickly, unless you'd rather--" but, once again, the teen was stopped mid-sentence as the man continued.

Because he cared about... things. Things, for god's sake. What, like he was some sort of... of doll that was convenient to keep around? True, the two of them weren't exactly... well, friends, but... but Alti had at least thought that Haar considered him human....

But that was an irrational thought, and he knew it, so he (as best he could) contained his building anger, though something in his eyes seemed to blaze more intensly at those words.

"It wasn't useless... not to me anyway, okay?"

Alti nodded slowly, though he still looked quite stubborn, his lips drawn in tight. Then, slowly, he allowed his shoulders to slowly lower as he tried to relax. "Just... just shut up, alright?" he said quietly, his cheeks flushed slightly. It looked as if this was about as civil as Alti could get after all that anger. "---Let's just get the room and I can try and fix your nose...."

[[Yeeeee~~ @w@;; I am happy for you! Alti's so... freaking stubborn. x3]]

Haar hissed something completely incoherent under his breath as he struggled to stand. "You have no...--" He was trying to resist the urge to start cursing, he figured there were probably people walking aimlessly around who didn't want to hear that... and getting into another fight was something he did not want to do. "-- clue who he is and... why the hell does it matter to you if I got hurt, anyway?" A verbal spar with Alti would be fine, but nothing physical because n his already compromised condition he wasn't hurt how he'd hold up against anyone, even Alti.

He turned red eyes upon the shorter male as he held his sleeve against his mouth, simply watching the anger and rage churn throughout the teen. "I'm not going to shut up just because you asked me to, and fu--" He stopped, trying to calm down a little so he wouldn't babble something he'd regret later on, "-- I didn't hit him...for my own health I'm sure you're aware, I just couldn't let him say those things to you... and I know you don't know who he is but... I did this for you and--" Haar stopped mid sentence, fuming as he grabbed the teen by his collar. "I can't figure you out at all."

He let go of the would-be mage's shirt as he continued towards the inn.

[[He's so confuzzled. TwT;; Contrary to what his expression is right now, Haar smiling for once in his life. :DDD]]
PostPosted: Sat Jun 16, 2007 7:29 pm

((Yes. Yes, he is. <333 Pretty much all my characters are, even if they're shy... 8D;;; Haven't you noticed? Even if they seem withdrawn, they're stubborn in some aspect... like Jillian is stubbornly in hate with his father and "in love" with Faryn. And Rosaline stubbornly refuses to think of himself in a good light -- he just thinks he's completely inept, y'know? And Sayael is... Sayael. 8D;;;; ))

"Why the hell does it matter to you if I got hurt, anyway?" Alti looked as if he were about to reply with a heatedly angry remark, but was left, surprisingly enough, speachless. Right. Why did he care? Why the hell should he care that Haar got hurt?! It--it wasn't... wasn't his... problem.

A steady pout had formed on the pale teen's lips, his cheeks flushed furiously against the milky white of his skin. "--Fine. I... I don't care. Just... go die or something. You'd probably enjoy that more than having some stupid flunked-out healer worrying about you, anyway," he replied stiffly, trying to keep his words as cold and biting as possible, rather than hot, childish and angry (which was what they really were). "I'm gonna go... go have fun," he said with finality, turning his back on Haar so he could just get the hell away from that man. That... that stupid, annoying... stupid man (apparently he couldn't think of any other names to call Haar, who was now, in his mind, dubbed 'that stupid idiot').

Again, oddly enough...instead of usual fiery anger welling up inside of him only relieved with sparked words or heated violence... He felt nothing. With a heavy breath, the young man said nothing back to Alti, he figured his lack of a response would get under the teen's skin more than anything he could say or do, for that matter. Turning back around with the intent of pursuing his original idea of passing out at the inn, the red-eyed fire native lingered for a while, watching as strangers passed by, chatting and laughing as they entered the festival grounds.

A few kids ran past him, racing or so it appeared, to a specific area-- perhaps the gated entrance? Lowering his head, Haar bit back a cough until he couldn't hold it back anymore. Wiping his mouth with the back his hand, the young man frowned as he gazed the difference between the top of his hand and his palm. He probably needed to see a healer if he was still choking up blood. With a sigh, the young man tried his best to scrape off any dried blood as he questioned the nearest child. "Oi, kid?" He knelt down, showing a smile as a girl around the age of nine or so peeked out from behind a rather large lollipop. "Eh, do you know where the closest cleric is?" He asked gently, ruffling the sweet-eyed girl on the head as he pointed towards the right.

And as he walked in said direction, Haar smacked himself in the forehead. He didn't have any money... "s**t."

Checking both pockets, the young commander sighed hopelessly as he felt around the heels of his boots. Nothing, not even a spare dart. Glancing miserably at his sword, Haar sucked in a heavy breath as he headed towards the nearest weapons merchant.

[[Not the swoooord. TWT;;;]]

Alti had more than half-hoped the other would... would say something -- something that would show that he didn't want the teen to... to say such mean things. Or something like an apology -- where, then, he could go back and just... just heal the damn b*****d. Really, we was quite concerned about the older man---

For no good reason.... he thought sourly to himself, a heavy scowl on his lips as he entered the festival grounds. This... this was stupid. He should be enjoying himself now that he was finally... free -- rid of his mother and that stupid, boring jerk who was just going to get himself killed one day if he didn't just accept help when it was offered. Haar could be thankful all he wanted but that wouldn't do him any good if he didn't accept the help in the first place. The young, dark haired teen let out a huffed breath, trying to vent his anger without concerning any passers by.

"--This is frieking stupid," he muttured to himself, bright eyes downcast.

And that was when Helios spotted and ever so tragic sight -- a particular person who wasn't enjoying the festival. He quickly perchased a small carved figurine of some sort of sweet bird (less presumptuous than flowers, he figured) and made his way to the dark-haired teen, his usual bright smile upon his lips.

"Here, what's this sight? Won't you take a try at smiling?" he offered, holding out the wood carving as he spoke and gently placing it in the other's hands.

Alti looked up as he was adressed, a rather akward expression on his face. "--Er," he began, face slightly flushed out of embarrassment at being caught in his bad temper. "Sorry, I was just... thinking about some... some...thing stupid," he replied as best he could, his eyes slipping down to examine the still bird cupped in his pale hands.

Untying his sword, sheath and all from his waist, Haar sighed as he placed in on the merchant's counter, it landed with a soft c***k against the polished wood. The seller and buyer of weapons appeared to be a trust-worthy man and the young man highly doubted he would give him much less than the blade was worth. Fingers rubbing the place where the sheathed sword used to rest, Haar let out a shaky sigh as the man examined it.

"Well-used, but still in good condition. Well-taken care of, I suppose?" He looked up with a wrinkly smile, blue eyes mere slits as folds of skin shadowed them. Biting back a frown, the soldier nodded slowly. "Why is a soldier such as yourself selling such a beloved sword? Hoping to buy something grander, for, perhaps, a lady friend? Love can make even the most sensible of men do stupid things." The commander winced, starting to explain but was quickly cut off as the merchant slid the sword back across the counter.

"I won't buy this from you."

Haar gaped at the old man, "But- But I have to sell it... Please, you have to understand it's not about anyone or...someone or him, it's-- I wouldn't be able to tip a healer if I don't sell my sword," he finally mumbled, eyes downcast as he weighed his options. He supposed he could trek all the way back to the stables and see if Alti's mother slipped either of them any money, although he doubted it... She probably gave Alti something, and he was probably carrying it... and his long trek would be for nothing, and worse, if he caught wind of Julian he may just find himself in another fight and he... couldn't fight Julian again. For both of their sake's, because Haar would have to use his sword, it would be his only chance of staying conscious and his sword was deadly and he didn't exactly want to kill Julian.

"I won't change my course of action, now will I have to get security to see you out of my store or will you leave on your own?'

Haar blinked slowly before taking back his sword, strapping it around his waist before glancing at the old, seemingly wise man who was going to indirectly kill him. "I- Thanks, but--" Upon seeing the man's seriousness at calling some form of security, the soldier walked briskly from the store with a frown. "Great," he mumbled under his breath as he stared back at the festival. Now what was he supposed to do?
PostPosted: Sat Jun 16, 2007 8:37 pm

"Mmmm," Helios replied with a bright smile, tapping his temple knowingly. "Well, since you're here, you'd best forget whatever's troubling you for the time being," the blonde said kindly, raising a tan hand to brush back some curly, golde hair from his brow. "Here, would you like me to show you around? My name is Helios, by the way...." Obviously, the teen had been brought up well, as he was polite and social, but not at all conceaded or demeaning. Really, how could someone like him ever be royal?

A slow, tentative (and incuribly rare) smile crept upon the dark-haired teen's lips, and he shook his head back slightly to dislodge some bothersome bangs from his eyes, as his hands were busy with the bird carving. Whoever this... this --Helios-- was he was... nice. Really nice. So nice that Alti, being so accustomed to the cold shoulder, almost didn't know how to reply. "--Erm... thank you... very much," he mumbled rather hesitantly. "If you, ah... wouldn't mind that would be... that would be nice. Thank you," he replied, for once shy. "And my name is Alti," he smiled.

Leaning against the store's siding, Haar pressed a hand to his temple. Today just hadn't gone very well at all. The whole stupid being forced to be that...that annoying twit's escort and then fighting with Julian... and now not even being able to scrounge up some money for a healer, and he would definitely need money with how bad his wounds were.

Casting a dizzy gaze outwards, the young man trudged back towards the direction that adorable little girl had pointed out to him. He supposed he'd just have to beg for his life, it wasn't like many healers were in the job for the money, it was more to help people and since he looked pretty banged up he hoped the cleric would take pity on him.

Knocking on the door frame, since there was no door, of the healer's store, for lack of a better term, Haar peeked him head in with a soft frown, red eyes scanning the area quickly as he looked for a cleric. Stepping inside the open room filled with a few cots and medical devices, the young man

looked around once more, eyes stopping of a young woman, probably a year or so older or younger than himself, he couldn't quite tell. "Miss? I'm really sorry to bother you because I don't--"

Ruby eyes looked up at the scraggly brown haired man who just stumbled through the doorway. "Commander? C-Commander...H-haar?"

Haar blinked before nodding, his vision dancing almost prettily in front of him.

The young woman explained that she had been called in by a friend of her's, one of the clerics who lived in the area, to help during the festival hours since there were just so many travelers who needed care after the long trek. "Are you okay? Can you tell me what's wrong?"

"Are you okay?"

"Are you okay?"

"Are you okay?"

Haar found himself sitting on one of the cots as he regained some sort of consciousness. His shirt was...gone, he realized as he stared down at his very bare chest, the bandages were gone as well...and the girl? Well, she was busy trying to heal his arrow-induced wounds to completion, or at least to a stage where they wouldn't be in danger of ripping back open. "Miss- I...I can't pay you because-- I wasn't really supposed to come here, I hadn't planned on it and..."

She looked up with a smile, "No need, Sir, it's an honor to help you."

Haar grinned nervously, "W-well in that case..."
Healers who had some sort of weird infatuation with him were...as he thought, weird but very useful when he didn't have any money on him.

"You'll be fine in no time, under my watch at least. I also stopped the bleeding of your nose, it was pretty stubborn but it finally stopped after some help from another friend."

Friend?

Haar looked around the room, eyes widening a bit as a smile touched his lips. "You don't know how happy I am to see you."

Ceris smiled gently, "Haar, I don't know how you get yourself into these salutations, but at least you're able to get out of them relatively well-- I suppose it doesn't hurt that you're best friends with a cleric."

Really, the man was very nice -- and Alti didn't quite know just what to do with himself as he was led around the festival, which the man seemed to know quite well. He must be a native, thought Alti, as he seemed to know just about where everything was and who ran what shop and where the best things were. It was like having a tour guide -- except that Helios was someone Alti felt was kind... in a personal sort of way. Not like the distant, pearly smile of someone paid keep their expression lively and fun. As time progressed, Alti found that he really liked being in the other's company. It was very... different from what he was used to. And it felt good to be around someone so... open and kind.

Restlessly scanning the alleyway as he exited yet another shop, Ruehl grew more anxious by the moment. Was he even here? Glancing at Malachai, he received a doubtful look and a shrug before the other proceeded down the lane.

Ruehl turned to follow him before a vibrant flash of purple caught his eye. A familiar flash of purple. In fact, if he remembered correctly, that violent shade of violet had a name- Alti. Ruehl, desperate to find Haar, and remembering Alti was somehow tied to his dream, pursued the boy in the opposite direction.

"OI! Rue?! Where are you going?" Malachai called out, realizing the young royal was no longer on the same path.

Ruehl reached out to grab at Alti's arm, and immediately recognized the youth had a different escort. Some... terribly happy person. Tucking wisps of red behind one ear, he raised his voice over the drone of the festival so that the boy could hear his questions.. or the barrage of questions.
"Do you know where Haar is? Is he hurt? Why aren't you with him? Did you hurt him? Please, tell me, Alti."

Meanwhile, the guards had inspected the weapons shop where the Commander had reportedly tried to sell his equipment for 'healing tip money or something' and informed Malachai of this information.
"Knock on every door and question every person that answers if he stopped by... Prince Ruehl has decided to run off on his own-- unwise, and uncalled for. I will be behind you with him in a few minutes," Malachai instructed before vanishing into the heat of the crowd. Ruehl was normally so calm. Why he felt the need to get so hot-headed over the topic of one person, Malachai could not understand.

Haar leaned back a bit, allowing the young cleric to continue her work as he turned his attention towards Ceris. "I figured you two would come up for the festival, but you usually spend the first day outside?" He asked, looking momentarily confused, fingers clenched at his sides as the healer, who he learned was called 'Saeyuuri,' attempted to heal his deep puncture wounds.

"We did some exploring of the wilderness for a few hours but Ceris needed to check in with Saeyuuri and Gahto, we weren't planning on staying, merely passing by to tell them he was around and able to heal if needed, but lo and behold, what do we find? Your sorry a**," Xel explained with an expression of pure jest.

"Don't worry about us Haar, we have a few weeks off and we can do all the exploring we want. Peyton decided to bring Cain along with him so we don't have to watch over him. I almost don't know what to do with all the spare time," the mage murmured, leaning over the red-eyed soldier with a gentle smile.

Xel ruffled Haar's hair before winking, "He may not know what do but I do," he said with a snicker before backing up to his post again the wall.

Haar rolled his eyes. "Spare me the details, please." Although the young man may have seemed annoyed with the two at times when Xel decided to spew random accounts of their personal lives...in actuality, Haar was slightly jealous. Ceris had been able to weave his way around the rules placed upon certain field soldiers and...-- Haar dismissed his next thought. He didn't need someone like Ceris needed Xel, and vice versa. "So what is your plan of action, Ceris?" He asked, gesturing towards the holes left by the ice-tipped arrows. The healer explained that the wounds had only been healed on the surface, and that's why they kept reopening... He chided that if the soldier would stay in bed that he would've had no problem but if he were going to stay active they would need to heal them completely. "And that's going to hurt, right?"

Ceris nodded gravely. "Last time you had wounds so deep you were bed for a month and every time I healed you I had to put you to sleep, so yes this is going to hurt. I can put you to sleep at any time, I just worry about keeping you out for so long, it's not exactly good for monitoring you... and since you have seven arrow-wounds I think this is going to take a while."

"How long?" Haar asked, clenching his hands into tight fists.

"I would say probably a half an hour or so. Would you like to start with you awake and I can put you to sleep at the end?"

"I'll be fine, just do it."

He didn't know how they had gotten on this topic of conversation, but on their long walk, the knight had started talking about his family and where he came from specifically. "You know that I'm not from the fire nation, correct?" Cain asked, glancing back at Peyton before offering a hand so the blue-eyed ranger could cross the slippery creek easier. Peyton nodded,
"That's obvious enough, but I'll tell you truthfully I cannot figure out for the life me where you're from."

"I suppose you could say I'm not exactly from the fire nation, but...somewhat-- It's complicated. You know of the islands off of the coast? They're owned by the fire kingdom... That's where I'm from."
Peyton blinked, almost slipping on a rock (which was very unlike him, he was usually so very careful about his surroundings), "What?! I thought they only sent fire and ice criminals there, like...like spies from the ice nation and criminals from the fire nation!"

"You know your history... They don't do that anymore though," Cain said with a laugh as he continued, "After generations and generations you must realize what happened... right? Slowly but surely, after each birth the powers of fire were extinguished and the ice was melted. We could no longer control fire or ice... but something in the middle, and by the time I was born, the islands were full of regular people, no criminals... and we control--" He bent over the creek, cupping a handful of the clear liquid flowing gently along. "Water," he murmured with a hint of a smile as he let the clear water sift slowly through his fingers back into the creek.
"You may know my cousin... he's good friends with your general and has the physical feature that I do not have, but it's something that's common enough around the islands."

Peyton thought to himself for a moment, red...and blue were the colors most commonly thought of when speaking of the fire and ice kingdoms so..."Purple? You-- You're related to..." There was an archer who was indeed a friend of Cyrus's, and he had the most vibrant purple eyes he'd ever seen. "Calix is your cousin?"

Meanwhile, somewhere far within the fire kingdom's borders, a young archer found himself having quite the sneeze attack.
Looking up from a field report, Cyrus eyed the archer sitting across from him. "You okay?"
Calix nodded with a sheepish grin, "Heh, perfectly fine~ No clue where it came from." Cyrus laughed, setting down the packet for a moment as he leaned across the table, "Someone must be talking about you," he teased before settling back into his chair. "Now finish that report and I'll finish this one so we can go get some lunch."

"Yes, Calix is my lovely cousin." Cain held out his hand once more, dark brown eyes set on blue as he closed his fingers around the younger teen's.
Peyton frowned a bit, not because of the hand-holding, he was okay with that... but, "What does this have to do with me? You asked me earlier, on the way down here, what I remembered about my life before I came to the fire kingdom... and-- and there has to be something you're not telling me."

They had been walking through the woods surrounding the festival for quite some time, following a relatively large creek until they finally reached a clearing where there resided a pond of sorts...well, it wasn't a pond because the water was flowing slightly through to the other side where the creek continued, but the area, Peyton figured, was a widened part of the creek... a very widened part of the creek. Glancing over at Cain, the younger teen instantly found himself blushing. "E-eh...you're swimming?"

Stripped of everything he had previously been wearing, Cain grinned at the blonde. "No, we're swimming. Now, strip please unless you wish to get your clothes completely soaked."

"Is this some ploy to see me naked?"

Cain was, thankfully, already in the litte higher than waist-deep water and laughed, "No, I want to see how much you remember." After a few minutes of wrestling with belt buckles and buttons, Peyton was in the water as he had been instructed to do so.

"I told you my people's history, now I'll tell you about my life." And so he did, he told the blonde all about the island he grew up on, how madly jealous of Calix he had been growing up because he was so good at hunting and he was stuck with the skill of seeking and controlling water. "You'd be good in a desert!" Peyton piped out with a grin as he splashed Cain, who swerved the droplets away from him with a determined sort of expression.

[[Okay this is long enough for now, I'll finish their little side-story when I get back from vacation in a few days starting tomorrow. =_=;; ]]

Except that it wasn't Haar. It was.... the prince. Of the Fire Kingdom -- Ruehl, Alti remembered, was his name. The teen turned around fully to face the other, raising a hand to brush back dark violet locks from his bright eyes. He persed his lips together, looking exceptionally annoyed at the mention of the commander. "Haar? Oh, sorry, guess I lost him," Alti replied dryly, completly forgetting his manners. "I don't know where he went... hopefully up to his room, if he had any sense. Unfortunately, he doesn't, so he's probably wondering around somewhere with a bloody nose and---" Alti broke off suddenly, a slight flush of embarrassment forming across his cheeks.

"--Nevermind. He's probably fine. And, to answer your other questions... yes, he's hurt, but that's nothing new.... I'm not with him because he's a bloody b*****d and of course I didn't hurt him." The teen shook his head back angrilly to once more clear his vision. If anything, Alti looked as if he were doing his best to prevent himself from yet another angry outburst. His words, in fact, sounded much more cool and detatched than usual -- all due to his efforts.

Bright blue eyes moved between the pair before finally settling upon the newest addition -- a red-haired man who was... very familiar. As princes, and heirs, of two Kingdoms they would have had to have met at least once, but it was more than that -- they were princes of allied kingdoms. Light and Fire were always hand in hand.

"Ruehl...?" Helios asked in slight disbelief. It had been some time, certainly, since he had last seen the other... but to see him looking so overwhelmingly desperate.... Well, that just... just wasn't like the Ruehl that Helios had known.

((Edited to include Helios, since I figured they would have met... *shrug*))

The fire prince was shocked into silence at Alti's reply. While Alti had the courtesy to answer his questions, his manner was horribly brusque. Ruehl took note of the defensive posture... the persed lips, the shake of the head... and what was with that odd blush?

Nonetheless, Alti made no qualms about having a lack of concern for Commander Shay Haar. 'I lost him.... if he had any sense.... a bloody nose.... hurt, but nothing new.... b*****d.' The whole circle of words rang clearly in the prince's mind. The kindness in Ruehl's heart for Alti had seemingly evaporated. The boy was making his blood boil. It was incredible timing that Helios seemed to cut in or he may have lost all diplomacy in the situation.

Releasing Alti's shoulder with a squeeze, he smiled at Helios. "Excellent festival, my friend. Better than all the other years. Unfortunately, I must excuse myself to search for one of our Commanders we allowed to escort the young Mr. Alti to the Storms Kingdom several weeks back. I am much the wiser now. That mistake will not be made again. I believe Mr. Alti will find himself other Kingdoms more to his liking than the Fire State."

Prince Ruehl set his gaze on the violet-haired teen, "Perhaps you might find the army men of the Ice Kingdom more to your liking, Mr. Alti. I apologize that you found the care of the Fire Kingdom so insufferable."

"Good day to you both. I hope to see you around the festival, Helios."

Ruehl departed with a slight bow of the head.

Moving through the crowd, he felt an invisible* hand tug his arm aside. As soon as they were out of the heat of the crowd, Malachai appeared. "Do you know how creepy that is?"

"Get over it. We got a lead down a side street," the other royal replied. The two young men arrived back on the street where the guards had continued knocking on doors for quite some time. Ruehl and Malachai joined them. There were only so many doors.... it had to be one of them. At least, they hoped it would be.

[[Yeah, I understand @ Helios, Mie. I figure they'd known each other for a while maybe.

** I don't know if I explained this very well- so I'll just say it here: instead of controlling fire like Ruehl does, Malachai can manipulate heat. Body heat, heat waves from weather, heat from friction or fire... whatever-- in order to create mirages or in some cases cloak things, such as himself. So, when he goes into a huge crowd of people with a lot of body heat, it's very easy to cloak himself in it. That was just what happened.]]
