I like suspense and build up. wink }} She quickly wiped at her cheeks when Ares put his hand on her shoulder. She did not want him to see her tears, although doing the action of wiping her face quickly probably gave it away. She hissed, though, when one of her hands brushed roughly against her scratches and also rubbed salt from her tears in them. This caused her eyes to tear up even more from the pain, and more tears slipped down her cheeks. She was very surprised to hear Ares apologize. She never thought she'd see the day that he would, but now, she was so hurt and so emotionally raw that it did little to make her feel better. She couldn't see her own appearance, but she looked horrible. Tears were running down her cheeks, blood was smeared all along the one side of her face, and her eyes were bloodshot from crying. She didn't cry often, so even crying just for a short time irritated them. "What?! What exactly are you sorry for Ares?! For calling me your job or for making me believe that you ca... cared for me when you really just wanted to make sure I went back to doing yours and my mothers' bidding?!" She hated how her voice had cracked when she said the word 'cared'. "You are not a job," he said, and his voice was intense, his eyes were intense. Gently, he turned her around to look in her eyes, putting his other hand on her other shoulder. "Evermore. Listen to me." He spoke softly, but that did not lower the intensity. In some ways, it only upped it. "I said what I had to say for them to listen to me." He shifted awkwardly, glancing down before pulling her into a hug that probably felt weird considering his armor. "I don't not care about you."

Adonis laughed in that easygoing way that he possessed as his clothes rippled. Leave it to Aphrodite to worry about his style. Some things never changed. He patted her hand gently and noticed that she seemed more beautiful than ever. That, and he could feel the lust rolling off her. As if his own wasn’t enough…

Ever laughed sarcastically and shook her head. "Gee, thanks. I'm glad you don't not care about me."
But for Ares, it was actually pretty sweet. It would have sound odd if, right now, he said that he cared about her. It wouldn't sound right at the moment.
She sighed and then wrapped her arms around Ares reluctantly.
Just then, Zeus, who was doing his best to ignore Aphrodite and Adonis at the moment, sent a ringing sound to Ares to let him know that he was requested at Mt. Olympus.

Remembering where she was, she smiled and pulled Adonis back with her to her throne. She perched upon it while Adonis leaned against her knees where she lovingly played with his hair. Ares would be coming soon, and she hoped she could make him understand... and then, maybe he'd trust her more.

He snorted lightly at her--did she really expect something else from him? It was... him. Ares wasn't an emotional type, normally. Just as he opened his mouth to speak, he heard the call.
"....s**t."
He reluctantly moved back, not quite looking at Evermore. "Zeus wants me back on Olympus for something." He grimaced, sticking a tongue out immaturely. "I'm not eager. Usually it means I did something wrong." Looking back into her eyes, he said, "I'll come back later." With a quick kiss to her forehead, he shimmered, disappearing from Bai Ching.
He reappeared on Mount Olympus, the air shimmering briefly before he was visible. He gave a nod to the congregated gods, before turning to Zeus. "You called?"
Informal, but that was so Ares.

Aphrodite stood as Ares appeared, her golden hair framing her lovely face. Her blue eyes swept from him to her father, unsure whether to say something yet or not.
At her feet, Adonis rose and moved to stand behind her, nodding to Ares.

Zeus nodded to Ares.
"Hello, my son. You need to visit more often.. I know you don't spend all your time at war."
He looked at Ares knowingly, but then he sighed and sat up straighter.
"Ares, I am here to tell you that I know about you and Ever and while I will not put a stop to it... yet... I will insist that you persuade Ever to go back to searching for the Relic. Something is occurring on Earth, and we need to have the Relic as soon as possible."

Ares nodded. "...A war is brewing." It was an unnecessary statement, but even when other gods could often feel these things, they could never be certain of it. It was not their domain as it was his. "It will be a very large war."
He nodded once, only a slight inclination of his head. "We do need the Relic. I..." He paused slightly. "...I will talk to Evermore."

Aphrodite watched the proceedings, lips pursed. Ares! she called to him telepathically, … I need to talk to you before we both return to Bai Ching. It’s important… and concerns Evermore. She looked back at Adonis, who quietly nodded. With a swift kiss on her cheek, he left the hall with another bow to Zeus, Ares, and a smile for Aphrodite which she returned.

Zeus arched an eyebrow at Ares. He didn't think it'd be that easy.
"Really now? Huh. With what Alecto and Aphrodite both said, I thought you were so consumed with Evermore that you no longer cared if she found the Relic."
He nodded absently to Adonis as he left.

"Daddy," she said, "He agreed. What more matters?" Aphrodite tried to imply that she'd keep him in line. Anything to keep him off Ares' back.

Ares blinked but sighed mentally and acknowledged Aphrodite's statement with an Alright. "I..." Well? He had no excuse for Zeus' accusation. "I am not so consumed as to forget that this war depends heavily on our obtaining of the Relic."

Zeus sighed at Ares' and Aphrodite's responses.
"Ares, you are playing a dangerous game. Usually I would commend you for your actions, but if you deceive Evermore, she will turn from us for good."
He sighed and spoke with more authority. "Alecto no longer has any control over Evermore's upbringing, so you will not have her to deal with. However, you will be upfront and honest with Evermore about what we all, including yourself, want from her. You will persuade her to search for the Relic again and bringing it to us without using deception."
He smirked at Ares. "That is, if you think you can handle that, Ares. Can you do something without using manipulation to aid you?"
