Shinji sighed. Tracking this smaller target was pretty difficult. At least with an Angel, he could usually SEE it. This hide and seek was eating away at his patience...

Shinji, we're reading another energy buildup within the target. Chances are its the same weapon that it used on you from before, be careful and watch your back. Your shield should be able to take the shots from it, but you'll need to find where they're coming from in order to block them.

I know that... I need to bring him out into the open... Unless...

Shinji grinned and moved around the outskirts of the city, and into the hills around it. He kept his shield up, and as he climbed, he kept watch for anything else around him. Then, as he dissapeared behind the hills, he crouched down, and took off as quickly as he could at a run, speeding foreward faster than most anything the other mech pilot would have seen.

Then, as he reached the crest of the hill, he pushed off with his AT Field, and sent himself soaring into the air, hundereds and hundreds of feet into the air as he moved along above the city. He'd done it!

THERE HE IS!! He's moving towards something on the ground! I can't let him get it!

Shinji's high altitude jump had allowed him to see more of the city floor at once, and as luck would have it, he had spied the mech moving along the ground towards its target with its torso turned.

Unit-01 landed in a crouch with the shield in front of it, guarding it from any strikes, and then took off at full sprint, the shield in it's left hand acting as a guard against the mech's attacks. Hie right hand held the Magoroku Sword behind and at an angle, ready to strike...

Graaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!

"Thats an awefull lot of energy your pulling in there. Be carefull otherwise you'll do more damage to yourself then the EVA. Your Mech isn't invulnerable to heat."

"You think I know this? Just be ready to drop the supplies when I stun him."

He continued, straffing around it while keeping a direct lock on to the EVA. He zig zagged between the buildings, making it hard for the large for to get him in close enough quarter, unless he wanted to destroy his own city.

The mech pilot underestimated the Eva's speed and agility compared to his own. When it came to speed and acceleration, the Eva FAR outweighed his heavy battlemech. As Shinji approached the mech, he skidded to a halt, his feet digging into the streets and leaving deep lines, before, he finally had his opponent exactly where he wanted him. Directly in front of him...

With a final boost of speed, Shinji sped directly towards the slow and cumbersome battlemech, and would aim to collide with the machine while still behind his protective shield. His right hand and arm readied itself for a sword strike once he got the right angle....

Ryuma knew this would happen, but it was almost unavoidable. Thanks to MagnusXL's design, it was well grounded. Unfortuatly, he could either brace himself and take more damage, of be tossed and suffer a blow from the sword.

Or be smart and do neither. He was somewhat thrown haphazardly forward down the street, crashing into a building as he slowed down. He took a little bit of damage, but it could have been worse. Luckily, the building prevented him from falling over, and brought him right into the drop zone.

"Now would be a good time, Edwin."

"Gotchya."

If the mech were paying attention to the skies, which would be stupid because he was in 1 on 1 combat on the ground, he would notice two objects falling out of the sky.

* * Meanwhile at NERV Command * *

Major, we've detected a large flying target above the city and it has appeared to have dropped two falling objects towards the battlefield. What should we do about it?

Misato studied the images for a moment before making her decision.

Roll out the Type-12 Self-Propelled Mortar Cannon and fire at those falling targets. It may not have been powerful enough to rip through an Angel's AT Field, but it should be enough to easily erase those falling targets.

Yes Ma'am! Rolling out the Mortar now.

* * Back in the Fray * *

Shinji continued in with his dash, throwing his shield forward as hard as he could, the massively heavy piece of metal streaking towards the stranded battlemech. The remains of the building would have wrapped around the battlemech and partially held it in place as the gyros in its legs attempted to regain its ballance. Then, in the time delay it would take for the engines in the leg joints to get the mech moving, the shield would crash into the war machine. Doing plenty of damage.

The massive shield would also serve to block the firing range of the mech's weapons, as well as his vision, making it very difficult to fire his weapons without having to fire through the shield. As the shield would fly forward, so would Shinji and Unit-01.

Grrrrraaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

The Eva Unit would charge forward and jump, aiming to land on top of the shield and crush the battlemech under the shield and the Eva's own weight, and if that wasn't bad enough, as Shinji would land on top of the shield, the Magoroku E-Sword would be drawn down by both of the Eva's hands, aiming to stab straight through the thick shield and into the body of the stranded mech, and as this all happened, the white-yellow blast from the Self-Propelled Mortar would fly overhead as it vaporized the ammunition containers.

The blast illuminated the Eva from behind, making the whole body appear black as night, except for the demonic looking white eyes. The pilot of the mech would have an excelent view of this as the tiny viewing hole in the shield would have conviniently fallen at just the point allowing him the view of his own demise...

Before the mortar even fired, one of the objects seemed to explode, revealing its true nature. Glowing red bit showered the sky, acting as their own targets. Not only that, but the smoke it produced covered the other container as it fell downward to earth.

Meanwhile, MagnusXL wasn't going to let the EVA just crush him. Before he charged back in, he released all his charged energy through his PPC, tehn immdeiatly fired off his powerful Javalin Missiles (which had a tendancy to snake around and home in on tagets), then rip loose with his Gattling guns. Hopefully, this simultaneous barrage would tear either stall the EVA long enough, or tear through his "invinco-shield".

As the object fell down, it revealed itself as a crate of ammo, with an elemental ridding it on top. Immediatly, he'd jump in and begiun to install the new arayments in a quick fasion. He was careful not to disrupt MagnusXL's weapons, and did his best to stay out of the way of the EVA's assault.

The shield was stalled by the Mech's assault, and clattered to the ground. It had blocked most of the mech's rapid strikes. But The shield shouldn't have been the worry of the mech warrior, it should have been the rampaging Eva BEHIND the shield.

The shield may have fallen, but Unit - 01 was still charging in. The missles exploded harmlessly against the Eva's tough outter armor, and the bullets merely left dents in the material. Its a shame that the mech had unleashed so many weapons, because it generated so much heat... The lighting in the cockpit flashed red as the Eva's sytems registered the hits, even if the damage was minor.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

With terrible speed, the Eva dashed in towards the mech and slashed diagonally down towards the left shoulder weapon's pod, and the cockpit. The battle was close range now, the Eva's specialty, and a mech's weakness...

Sweat went down Ryuma's brow. There just seemed to be no stopping this thing. His weapons were getting hot, almost too hot. His mech was threatening to overheat, but he only had one chance to knock this guy off. He couldn't fire off his new ammo safely with his systems running at such a high temperature, but he could do another thing.

"I'm... gonna fire off an Alpha Strike."

"Are you insane? Not even Magnus ca-

With that MagnusXL fired off his Alpha Strike into the rampaging EVA, being his only chance to stopping his foe. If it failed, he'd be in some real trouble. Even if it succeded, Magnus was overheating, and had to be cooled down.

What the--!?! AAAHHHHHH!!!!

Shinji hadn't been expecting that massive barrage of weapon's fire and as a result he was hit by the full force of the attack, and was sent screaming backwards through the air several hundred feet were he collided with a building. Shinji winced from the pain of the assault, for unlike any other mecha unit, the Eva Pilots felt everything the Eva Unit felt. Red blood left a trail where the titanic blast of weapons had cut into the Eva's flesh. Shinji forced himself to a stand.

But that wasn't all... What was worse was the massive red warning lights that blared all around the Eva cockpit as a timer came up, flashing [05:00.00] and then began to count down. The telltale sign that his power cable had been cut. The mech pilot's explosive blasts had taken out the delicate power cable, and it showed as electric current sparked from the massive cable. This was NOT looking good...

The Elemental was finishing up maintinance on MagnusXL, now installing new coolants, as his old one's blew completely. As the old ones were removed, steam and smoke burst into the sky. It was clear that Ryuma had put MagnusXL through WAY more than he should have. Even if he'd only taken moderate damage, the overheating wasn't doing him too good at all. He could only back off for a bit while the new cooling systems came online, letting his machine air out.

Oh no, the Power Cable's been cut! Shinji! You need to finish this NOW!! You don't have time to be discreet anymore, get going and finish this as fast as you can! Your Eva can take most of anything he can throw at you, just get to it!

I know.. I know!! I'll get you for that you b*****d!!!

With that, he charged again, as fast as he could, and drew his Progressive Knife from his shoulder pylon. The street below cracked under the force as the Eva speed forwards. He couldn't afford to waste any more time.

Ryuma checked his sensors. Perfect, everything was functioning at 100% again. His heat was back down, but that probably wouldn't last long. But with his upgraded ammo, he should be able to do massive amounts of damage. It was do or die time.

"Alright, its time for me to take these abominations down."

"Don't get cocky. You just have to last for 5-6 minutes, give or take. If you can do that, you can annialate it when it powers down."

"Gotchya."

He stepped behind the nearby building, begining to zig zag between them as he charged his PPC. He may not make it very far, but the EVA still had to make the turns, otherwise he'd destroy his own city.

The pilot of the mech had made a great and terrible mistake... He assumed the pilot of the Eva would stick to the ground once more, but he was SADLY mistaken. The time for victory was at hand, and time was not something the Eva had alot of. As the mech turned and moved off, Unit - 01 jumped and landed atop the buildings of Tokyo 3. Shinji had had enough of playing hide and seek amongst the buldings.

From his vantage point he spotted the mech moving away from him, and within second, the Eva jumped and pounced on its prey, the Progressive Knife aiming to stab into the Madcat's right weapon's pod. But this time it was different. The Eva had jumped and pounced from BEHIND the mech, meaning that even though he was on the pilot's radar, he'd get the drop on the mech before it coul turn and fire. The battle was coming to a close...

Ryuma never assumed the EVA was going to stay on the ground. He knew that the building would be an obstacle, though. That was key. Aiming up, he shot the building top as his opponent landed on it. Hopefully, the crumbling building would make the EVA lose its footing, causing it to fall. If so, the building collapsing with it couldn't feel great, either. If this failed, he'd launch his powered up missiles at her, then let loose with the Gattling Guns.

Only time would tell what would happen.

The building top did explode, however, the Eva was already on its way down to meet the mech by the time it did so. The powerful missles exploded on contact with the Eva, but it tore straight through them, blackened marks on its bloodied armor appearing from the assault. The bullets from the gattling guns left small pock marks, but not much more as the Eva rampaged towards the mech.

It reached the mech as soon as the missles had finished their firing, and since it's priority target had moved Shinji opted for a second target, i.e, anything he could hit. This turned out to be the Madcat's large-windowed cockpit. The prog blade would immediately come down to stab right in the top where the cockpit joined with the missle pods on the back of the mech.

Then, as the Prog Blade would slice easily into the metal, Shinji would move it down, cutting a huge gash into the front of the Madcat, and exposing the pilot to the open air...
